We tried the steamers, grilled fish tacos and the fried fish tacos. The steamers were super fresh, but wow the long appendages sticking out of the shell made me a little cautious. I guess I was picturing little neck clams or something more like mussels when I ordered them. Not for the faint of heart or newcomers to seafood. The fish tacos were good. The grilled fish tacos were solid, but nothing spectacular. The real winner were the fried fish tacos. The really know how to make some delicious fried fish at Bostwicks. I'll start by saying: this place is pretentious, obnoxious, and contrived. But hello, you're in East Hampton, so either these things don't bother you, or you are going to get your fill of them anyway so you might as well get used to it. Once I managed to ignore the rude server, the inane ordering system, and the extreme douchbaggery occurring around me at all angles, I actually enjoyed my meal. Where else can you get lobster tacos?? Yum. M had the Manhattan Chowder and it was more than acceptable. Possibly even good. His fluke entree was definitely not my taste, but he liked it... and everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their dinners as well. Great atmosphere, 5pm, gorgeous summer day, outside, nice breeze. Waitress was not that friendly, but everyone has a bad day. Started with the new england chowder. It was above average, but I think I am biased as i have this amazing chowder by my house, so bostwick's did not match up. For my entree I had the special swordfish which was amazing. Cooked perfect, nicely seasoned. It was over a really good kale salad with an amazing dressing. My only complaint, very small complaint was the fish was about 4 oz for 20$, but it was in east hampton. My friend got the same meal but did not enjoy it. The peanut butter pie was very good. This place is what the east end is all about - fresh seafood, loud bustling place with mediocre service, and lobster rolls, clam chowder, and fish tacos so good, they will knock you on your ass (ok, that may have been the 15 glasses of rose I drank on the beach earlier, but still...). Honestly, if I had to choose between never eating their New England clam chowder again and murdering another human being, I would choose murder because eternal damnation is totally worth it. Came here over the weekend with some girl friends before a night out. We waited approx. 30 minutes for a table which is pretty good for a Saturday night. We ordered a drink at the bar which was made well then waited outside for our table. We sat down and were immediately greeted by our waitress ( forgot her name but she was tall, thin and blonde with a slight accent). She was helpful and took our order promptly. We ordered the baked clams as an appetizer and they were delicious one of the best I have had. I also had a lobster bisque which was very good with nice sized chunks of lobster in it. For main course I chose the special which was swordfish- also delicious and prepared simple grilled with some capers, side of green beans and fingerling potatoes. Had the NE Chowder and a stuffed crab artichoke appetizer (special). The chowder was average, a bit on the thin side as others have mentioned. The problem I had with this place was with the appetizer special we tried out. On their specials board it listed as, stuffed crab artichoke. The result was a small blob of medicore crab stuffing, dumped onto a canned artichoke heart with a touch of vinegar & seasonings. After being unimpressed by the few lobster rolls I've tried in the area, it was time to give Bostwick's a shot. Our group grabbed a few beers and waited to be seated outside - right next to Bobby Flay! The BF & I shared the steamers (my second time having them). They were pretty good, much better than the ones I had at The Clam. For my main, I ordered the New England Classic Lobster Roll (served with coleslaw and potato chips). The lobster roll was DELICIOUS - I normally prefer a mayo-less lobster salad, but Bostwick's was ON POINT! The crunch of the potato chips really complimented the soft sandwich roll (I even ended up sticking some chips in there). Their french fries are damn good too (perfect size, flavor, and texture). I will definitely be back next time I'm in East Hampton! read more

Thankfully I came with only one other person so we had a quick 20 minute wait, enough time to grab a beer and have an appetizer outside in their very cute waiting area- they even have a little window where you can place and pick up your appetizer and drink orders while waiting! Other larger parties were waiting an hour or so on the Friday night I went. We also were lucky to get an outdoor table which was lovely! Not too much noise, even though it's on a main road. I had one of the fish taco platters -the Baja- and there was too much food, which is awesome. The tacos were pretty big compared to other restaurants! Tried this spot over labor day weekend heading back from Montauk. Well, the chowder is good, yes, it is indeed. I had the Manhattan and the hubby had the New England..both tasty! The oyster poboy..tasty, i can't deny it. However, I'm giving them only 3-stars because the service was eh and it wasn't that busy but i take greater issue with the fact that they use everything plastic! Plastic cups, plates, utensils..it all ends up in the landfill..can i get some real plates and cups that won't be thrown out each day?? That aside, tasty chowder. read more

I have been going to this restaurant ever since I was a little girl. I am kinda sad that it is no longer on the beautiful waterfront of 3 mile harbor . That aside, the food is still delicious ! The service is very fast and the servers are kind. If you go, make sure to start off with the calamari and lobster fritters, they are sinful and melt in your mouth . I came here because the misses was quite hungry and not being in the area before we didn't know if more restaurants would be down the road along the way to Montauk Point. Well it was but I took a U-turn to come here. The wait was a bit long and seems normal for a typical lunch time. For was not to die for considering there were many places down the road selling the exact same thing at a competitively cheaper price. Not the best lobster roll but it did it's job at keeping us filled for the time being, I found it to be nothing more than over priced fast food. Yes you get lobster and other seafood but the point is it's nothing to wow for overcooked food. read more

This is my favorite place! It's so low key with great burgers, seafood, chowders and ice cream. I had all of the food I mentioned above in one sitting. I rarely consume so much food but it was all delicious. The clam strips were straight out of fryer. AND, you can ask for what I called an "appetizer" portion of strips (without fries). The Lobster Bisque has large chunks of lobster. It was so good #IMentionedTheBisque. The burgers are thicker, well cooked and lay flat. A thick, juicy but flat burger is so nice to find. It made it neat & easy to polish off! The ice cream is not to be missed and add fudge. Not a weak point on the menu. I'm glad we were there in October because I am sure this place is mobbed during the summer. read more

We had dinner here during a day trip in Hampton. This place was really good! Filled with locals which I believe is a great sign! We had a Manhattan chowder and lobster bisque which bothe were amazing! My husband tried the fish taco with the blackened fish and so good, I had the flounder sandwich broiled and I loved it!! My friend and I spotted this adorable little eatery as we were driving looking for a place to eat. It was exactly what we were looking for after the poor service we received at Babette's where we had to leave. Here at Bostwick's they were warm and welcoming to their customers. And the food was amazing and the service was great. I love fish tacos and lobster rolls. I couldn't decide. So my friend and I split the dishes. The lobster roll were the biggest juiciest pieces of lobster I ever had in a lobster roll. For me, it was better than Lobster Roll down the street. And the mahi-mahi fish tacos was the biggest piece of moist fish I ever had in a taco and it came with two tacos.  We came in from the city. We're going to have to come back and do repeat again over the summer. Highly recommend this place! read more

Unfortunately I am not able to review the food. Here's why: We arrived at approximately 6:30 pm on a seasonably cool night on the last Thursday of Sept. As we were walking up we noticed several empty tables outside. Perfect. Side note: Being that we're locals we tend not to frequent the Hamptons dining scene during the summer months due to the obvious crowds and general lack of good service. Well, as it would turn out, for Bostwick's the crowds have left but the poor service remains. Thinking that we could enjoy one of the last pleasant evenings sitting outside enjoying some drinks and food in peace we entered the restaurant. The hostess reluctantly "greeted" us. We told her we'd like to sit outside. She said that she couldn't do that as there were only two of us and she needed to save the outside tables for larger parties. I said but what about all those empty tables? Her only reply? "No, sorry." I mean, I get it. If it were any night in the summer, you want to keep those tables for the bigger groups. But if a local couple can't come out in the off-season and enjoy our own neighborhood then what is the point? As we left, I counted three tables of two seated outside. Sorry Bostwick's, you lost two customers forever that night. Epilogue: We went to Rowdy Hall instead and had a lovely dinner in the courtyard. Their Oktoberfest specials are amazing! Happen to be in area found the Chowder House, looked at reviews and thought should be a decent place to eat. The lobster bisque was watery tomato soup with small pieces of lobster, New England clam chowder was decent. We ordered 2 appetizers, mussels in white wine sauce and tomato and mozzarella neither had any taste. By the way I had to ask waitress for bread did not come out automatically. Ordered a fried seafood platter flounder was good, clams decent and the shrimp tasted like it had a chemical taste. Also ordered a salad nothing great. Coffee was good. Found this place when I was going to the Hamptons with my friends . We ordered lobster rolls, clam chowder soup, seafood linguine, and scallops for lunch. The lobster roll was good, but I think lobster rolls are overrated. They taste good, but I don't think it was really worth it ... Its based on the market price and that day it was around $20. The roll was the size of a hot dog roll, and they weren't stingy with the amount of lobster. The scallops that my friends had were kind of ..tasteless. It didn't feel fresh, kinda mushy and chewy... And I love scallops, but these scallops tasted funny that day ... Our server was also very nice, she was kind of motherly, maybe it was bc it was a group of 5 girls? Bostwick's Chowder House - Lobster Roll - Seafood Near Me - East Hampton, New York

We stopped by the Chowder House yesterday on our way back to NYC from Montauk. The sign that stands in front of the place is pretty cute and it's visible from the road; the location is very convenient, though the parking lot is rather small. When we got inside, we were told the wait will be 30 minutes and it seemed reasonable based on how crowded the place was. We took our lobster-shaped buzzer and decided to look at the menu while we waited. We barely made it through the menu when our lobster buzzer did its "lobster dance" - the actual wait was more like 10 minutes! We ordered NE clam chowder, lobster roll with fries and Montauk scallops with boiled potatoes. The chowder, as other reviewers pointed out, was on a thin side, but it was still very hearty. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the plate contained plenty of them, not just 2-3 pieces. The lobster roll was good - toasted bun's flavor really came through - but whatever sauce the lobster was mixed with sort of "blocked" the actual lobster flavor. It was a tasty roll, but I may have as well been eating chopped shrimp in a bun - I would not have been able to tell the difference (so may be just plain lobster in a bun and tad bit of that sauce on top would be better?). The fries with which the roll came, though, were excellent. It's hard to mess up the fries, I know, but these were just super crunchy and not too salty. Yum! I would sum up Bostwick's Chowder House experience as pleasant. It is a "fast SEAfood" place - do not expect china plates and silverware (all plastic), a sommelier or a Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef; but do expect fresh seafood accompanied but a generous portion of carbohydrates getting to your table without much fuss. read more

However, finally I went and the wait was only 10 min. I split a clam chowder and corn chowder with my boyfriend. We also split the ahi poke tacos and the grilled mahi. Been going to Bostwicks since they were on Three Mile Harbor. Very cute atmosphere with good friendly service. Prices jumped once they moved closer to town. NE Chowder had little to no clam flavor or clams. If you dig fried foods this is your place. Fish & Chips are very good and Lobster Fritters were decent but not worth the price. We went for the lobster rolls but fell in love with the seafood platter. Local flounder was flaky. I thought the fried shrimp was a little salty but my partner love loved it along with the fried oysters. I cleaned up all the fried clams which were small and sweet and plentiful. Just popped right into my mouth. They split the platter in the kitchen for us & gave us an extra serving of coleslaw & potato salad! So nice of them. And we didn't have a wait, though it was packed.
