Great food as usual. The only staff that I know is from wed or sunday nite. There is this one white young lady that works there that remembers us. Sorry, but there's just nothing particularly good about Boudin's offerings. Nothing bad, mind you, but this is Togo's quality IMHO. Not a sourdough fan, but even if I were, the sandwiches I've gotten were not impressive taste-wise. Boudin is pleasant enough, certainly clean and conscientious cooks, but this is one level above your average hospital cafeteria food-wise. If you need to eat, by all means do here, but if you want something you're like to actually enjoy for lunch/dinner, look elsewhere. read more

Ordered the avocado toast and pesto chicken sandwich. Avocado was a warm thawed out, previously frozen green paste with no flavor. Bread on sandwich was rock hard (presumably stale?), and chicken was also clearly previously frozen, looked like zombie flesh and tasted old. Side salad had brown on the edges. This review is long overdue since my husband and I are regulars at this place. (I'm using my husband's yelp account.) We enjoyed our experience very much every time when we ate there. It was never crowded whenever we went. The people at front taking orders are very nice and helpful even though sometimes my husband got a few ingredients substitutes requests. Food was delivered in a timely manner too! When we eat, the waiters always swing by and check on us if we need anything. The BEST part is that if you eat there regular, make sure get a BOUDIN card!!! It's SO worth it!! Every time we went there we spent about $23. After about 3 times or so, we have enough points on our card to redeem for a BREAD!! It's one of those BIG ONES on the shelf at door!! Not the small ones! Depending on your choice, you can pay additional $1 or $2 to make up for the difference to get the bread! Overall it's great deal and worth getting the card!!! Totally disappointed in this location. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I used to frequent the Hillsdale one and Valley fair but both closed. We went here the other day and the bread tasted stale and the turkey tasted old. My husbands sandwich was so bad he didn't even eat it. To top it off The waitress practically threw our plates at us, so service is a fail too. read more

I went to boudins the other day and I had such a wonderful experience. I had a pretty large lunch order for my office and the manager was very helpful with making sure I had everything since I had about 3 different salads, 2 sandwich and soup. If you are every at Boudins and get to have the manager (girl with red hair) help you, then you know your order will be good to go! read more

Horrible Customer Service! I stood inline ( the only customer there, at first. Then joined by an elderly couple. The cashier looked at me 5 times as he walked back and forth in front of me and never said a word! No Greeting! No I'll be right with you! Although it wasn't a bad place, I went with 2 stars since Yelp describes it as "meh." That's what I felt. I like Panera -- especially their salads. So this place has a seemingly limited menu compared to Panera. I ordered the Waldorf salad. To me, the most important part of a salad is the dressing ratio. Panera NEVER botches this. It's always perfect. Boudin SF puts a substantially higher amount of dressing on the salad I got. Otherwise, it was ok. Moderately good. I got a piece of sourdough with it, which was awful. Although I am not a huge fan of sourdough... but still, it was overly crusty and tough to eat. Like I said, it wasn't terrible. I will probably go back to order a sandwich or one of those strange looking burgers they're currently touting. But on first impression, I was not impressed. At all. (But hey, at least that horrible Baja Fresh location is gone... it was the worst. I don't mind BF but this location had the crappiest staff whenever I went.) read more

Delicious! I ordered a butternut squash soup and lemon couscous salad. It was amazing. I went for lunch time during a workday and thought it would take a while to get my food. I received my food even before I could sit down. Very fast service, the employees were very kind and considerate. I went this morning to a Boudin in Saratoga. The customer service was not great plus they didn't have any coffee. That's sad.

Only bad experiences at this place. Every time I go, they never seem to have half the soups or any bread bowls or they only have one or the other. I just walked out Friday night, November 16th at around 7:30 pm and had a terrible experience. Once again, they have bread bowls but no soup except for chili. Ordered a couple sandwiches and salads to go. First, we had a coupon for 20% off the entire order but it was only applied to one sandwich. We decided not to complain. Then, as we sat there waiting for our food, we could see the two staff working in kitchen. The staff woman receiving orders and then putting them together when she got them from the cook had one of the worst attitudes I have ever witnessed. The entire time she worked, she was cursing and muttering under her breath (but loud enough where I could hear it from where I was sitting). I constantly witnessed her wiping her forearms on her sweaty face, her nose, and in her hair. So gross. As she worked, she would throw items and dishes around violently as she prepared them because she was angry. At one point, she got angry because he door stayed propped open as someone left and made a big show of it and her having to close it. Then, as more customers came in a few moments later, she yelled at them, "I wouldn't eat here and would go somewhere else if I were you!" And then she laughed about it and bragged to the cook about what she had done. The other staff seemed to find her rudeness amusing. When our to go order was read she flung it on the counter and walked away. I wanted to ask for our money back, but after a long day of work, didn't even want to bother dealing with such rude people (trust me, nothing good would have come from it). Tried the food when we got home and it was definitely sub par. Cheese on my grilled cheese wasn't even melted and my husband's "melt" was a slab of dry meat. Sadly, she was right. I would go across the street to Panera where the food is better, not covered in sweat and snot, and where staff understands how to be professional and polite. Never returning to this place again. If I could give this place no stars, I would. read more

Delicious food always! I am hooked on their salads because they taste delicious, especially their balsamic dressing on their spring salad. I had asked that staff if they sold that dressing separately and unfortunately they don't. I hope they change that soon. I really like to thank Lynna for her help and courtesy. We had known her at the Cupertino Boudin, but today she was at my local Sunnyvale location. She gave us some extra balsamic dressing to take home. I was hoping to buy a gallon of the dressing. I highly recommend any Boudin restaurant, but I very grateful for my local Sunnyvale Boudin. read more

The people who work there have suggested I go to get coffee at Peets next door twice-two different workers. That was extremely disappointing​ because this place is a bakery. This is a little overpriced place but food tastes good though it's small portions. Also, I had awkward experience today. The person at the counter told me I get a free bread and asked if she wants it to be sliced. I said fine and went to have my sandwich and soup. I later recollected that I am supposed to get a bread and went to the girl and asked and she started saying "didn't you already get it? " I felt like I came there for stealing bread. She also said, "that's fine take it". Guys, pls realize we r not coming for ur bread sometimes I don't even take it though it is part of regards. Phone ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl as takeout and it was very good. I had a little trouble getting the bread bowl apart (they cut it for you but you have to rip out the middle part, which I am apparently bad at). Service was good. The service was fast. You order at the counter and they serve you when you find a seat. I got the Italian sandwich and salad. Wasn't too happy that my salad had dressing in it already but what can ya do. The sandwich was pretty tasty but I can't remember if it said my sandwich had horseradish (I'm not a fan of horseradish at all) it wasn't overwhelming and actually tasted good on the sandwich. So it was a surprise when I bit into it. Overall pretty tasty. My husband ordered the burger and wasn't too satisfied with it. Said it tasted like any other burger nothing special. I guess that's what you get when you order a burger from a sandwich shop. It comes with kettle chips which were pretty tasty. read more

I use to work here to start off with that. I quit. I ordered a clam chowder in a bread bowl. If you're new you should get that and a chili bowl. It's was $18 and some cents. I gave her a $100 bill and I get back $50. She gives me another $20 which is $70 then she gives another $10. How do you miss basic math? Anyways count your money EVERYTIME.That's a problem they keep having. Sometimes the food can be pretty hot warm if you get lucky. The employees will ask how you're doing and if you need anything. Sometimes they over due it. I believe the one in Cupertino is slightly better with the enjoyment of your food and money. read more

The moment we came in the atmosphere was very good and we get to ordering. The cashier was really nice and explained how things worked (this was my first time here). We were then ask to wait at a table and they would bring us our food. The food was amazing and taste like we just got it from the wharf. I love boudin breads as I have eaten them at family parties. I was visiting SanFransisco from Seattle. I have visited SF before but wasn't aware of this bakery/cafe. Visited their Sunnyvale location on Sunday night. It was just about 8 pm and they had closed for the day but we didn't want to leave SF without tasting their soup in bread bowl. I haven't had such tasty sourdough bread earlier. Tomato soup was also very yummy. Thank you Lynna. She packed us tomato soup with bread bowl to go with all the add ons. Not only did she pack us the items we ordered even though they were closed, she also gave us some sourdough baguette to take with us back to Seattle to share with friends and family. Thank you Lynna. I just wanted to take the time, and write a little review about my experience. I came in the restaurant Monday mid afternoon, right when I walked in I was greeted right away. I order the grilled cheese Brie sandwich once I got my meal I notice the sandwich was a little to toasted. I believe she was the manger she was wearing a different shirt and she had red hair, she approached me and ask Me how is everything, I told her my sandwich is a little too toasted, right away she said I'm sorry about that we can make you another one it won't take long, I told her no that's ok I can scrap it off, she said oh no I don't want you doing that let me make you a new one and she took my plate and shortly after she brought me a new one. Now that I can tell she cares about the customers she sure did go out of her way to make sure my sandwich wasn't too toasted. I wish I asked for her name she was very sweet of taking care of me. I know bakery/sandwich shops are nothing new, but do any of the places you know of offer a full grilled cheese menu? Do they? No? I'm sorry to hear that, man. Before I fill your head with tails of gooey grilled cheeses on toasty, delicious bread let me first tell you about this magical place. Boudin originated in San Francisco and is also known as the original creator of sourdough bread. As a kid I remember going to the flagship restaurant on Pier 39 for clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, which to me is more of a San Francisco treat than Rice-a-Roni ever will be. I mean really, what about rice in a box says San Francisco? Nothing, that's what. Since the original bakery opened in 1849, Boudin bakery cafes have popped up across California. I can only hope it soon expands even further so that all can experience the glory of having a Boudin grilled cheese in their mouth. So now that you know about my allegiance to the best clam chowder this side of Red Lobster (clearly I'm joking) let's talk about the other menu options. Offering everything from artisan soups to tasty sandwiches, salads and burgers, everything about this menu says "comfort food." Soups: The tomato soup is delicious, as is the side of croutons it comes with that sink into the bowl, absorbing all the tomato-y deliciousness. Mmmm. If you're really in the mood for a warm meal that'll stick to your ribs, go for their signature clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. I'm telling you, there's nothing better on a cold winter night. Burgers and sandwiches: The burgers and sandwiches are awesome, but let's get to the real star of the menu: the grilled cheese. Boudin offers several varieties including a traditional grilled cheese, one with bacon and another with brie, apple slices and fig jam. All are nothing short of fantastic with hearty, rustic breads that are grilled to perfection and so much cheese it flows out of your sandwich like hot molten cheese lava. As if that's not amazing enough, any grilled cheese can be combined with a bowl of Rustic Tomato soup for just $2 more. Be still ma' heart. Staff was friendly... a bit too friendly though, didn't come off as sincere, more like the management is forcing us to be friendly and wear 15 pieces of flair kind of thing. But I won't hold that against them. The space is a nice remodel from the former Baja Fresh. Food was good, but maybe not quite up to par with their other locations.
