Date night and we read the reviews for the Boulder Cork and decided that this would be the perfect place. The employee who seated us was very nice. There was one sever on our side of the restaurant with 3 or 4 helpers. Not sure if this is because of the direction from management but when the helpers would take a dish away or clean something off our table and we said thanks they never said anything. Curious! My wife order the Halibut and I had the Cowboy Ribeye. We also each had a salad and a cocktail. Salad was good as well as the drinks. My steak was not good. Not sure how they cooked it but it looked and tasted as if it was boiled. My wife's halibut pretty much had no flavour. When we go to a steakhouse we are used to prime steaks cooked to perfection like Ruth Chris or Cowboy star. When you spend $200.00 on a meal it should be better than what I can cook at home. We keep trying because we so want to enjoy it like we used to but every dish we order, even the hamburger, is subpar. Very disappointing! High prices very small portions. And to add... The waiter was very aggressive to get our order and was not patient to give us time to look thru the menu. Don't think I've very seen such a small prime rib slice. When we did order he told us the enchiladas had 2 in the order. When he brought it out it had one. It had a pepper that I can't eat next to it. He apologized he misquoted the meal. Rather then offer to keep his word and bring a second one or offer something else other then a tiny enchilada to a person who clearly is not on a diet. he returns with a plate of fries as a consultation to his mistake. I ordered my sister and I Thanksgiving meal today. The entrees were $40 each and I left a 15% tip. There is literally only 1 tbsp of stuffing and 1.5 tbsps of mashed potatoes (I measured)!. The Cork has been around for more than 40 years, so they must be doing it right. It's a steak house but with also a nice selection of fish, burgers and other entrees, a little more affordable than your regular chophouse. They were working with local farms way before it became trendy, so that's a big plus. Everything we tasted was very good and service was perfect. Portions were quite generous. My only complaint is that the decor is a little dated (like stuck in the 80's), but it might be a conscious decision and appeal to a certain clientele. Personally, I prefer a more contemporary feel (thinking Elway's for example if we want to compare steak houses.) But that's totally subjective. They have a fairly big shaded patio that opens on a parking lot, and a nice bar area. A good traditional restaurant with classic and tasty food that I'd love to visit again, for lunch this time, or happy hour. read more

Tonight's dinner was average at best, if you want over priced unexceptional meal have at, but at these prices there are great restaurants in Boulder. Don't bother very poor value for the $. Salami/cheese appetizer was thoughtless and thrown on the plate, salmon was tasteless piled on frozen vegetables, prime rib was ok but over priced. WOW...my husband was right Cork is absolutely fantastic! Every time he is in Boulder, once or twice a month, he goes to Boulder Cork. He usually pulls up a seat at the huge bar area and orders their Prime Rib sandwich. I had the pleasure of going to Cork the other evening and enjoyed every bit of it. Our server was really friendly and knew the menu. Again what you would expect from a Boulder restaurant. Of course my husband had his usual but I started with the Baked Shrimp wrapped in prosciutto with Fontana cheese. It was good but very cheesy. And of course as cheese bakes it gets oily. My entree was delicious! I had the Fish Bowl. It had Mahi-mahi with lots of veggies in a wonderful curry sauce. After all of that we were too full to think about dessert. I was extremely disappointed with the level of service from our waitress, up to the manager. The restaurant does not cater to folks with dairy allergies. If you have this allergy, the staff will not accommodate. The waitress was no help in suggesting any alternatives, and upon further talks with the restaurant manager, I was told they were very sorry that I had a dairy allergy. How frustrating.... On another note, I've only realized that I've had a dairy allergy for about 2 years. When I realized I could no longer tolerate it, I thought I was going to be one of "those people" that had to be difficult about food when eating out, however the experience has been just the opposite. Every, or almost every restaurant I've gone to will go out of their way to accommodate someone with this allergy. From McDonalds to the Greenbriar, I've been told that the chef's can prepare anything, and it's no big deal. At the Boulder Cork however, you pay $45 for a steak, and the chef can't whip up a dairy free au jus? Any chef could do this in their sleep. Also, NONE of their bread is dairy free? So the Chef can't cook, The waitress can't work with you, the manager won't help you? Holy moly!!! Thanks for the hamburger Kym. Just in town for business and we went here as a suggestion from someone. The parking lot was full at 6:30pm on a Monday night! When we stepped inside the smell of the food made my mouth water and I couldn't wait to be seated. There is open seating in the bar area so since we didn't have a reservation, we headed to the bar and luckily was able to find the last table open. I ordered the Sake Salmon and my colleague ordered the fish bowl and a salad. When his salad came out, I immediately wished I had ordered one too. It was full of fresh vegetables and looked delicious. My Sake Salmon was absolutely amazing! The salmon was cooked perfectly, light and flavorful. It's easy to overlook salmon but it was not dry at all! The side of wasabi sauce and ginger, vegetables and rice made it a perfect meal. My colleague's fish bowl looked amazing as well. At the end of the evening all plates where cleaned! Great meal! Also the waiter was exceptional, my water glass was never empty and he promptly took our empty plates away shortly after we took our last bite. They recently raised prices on their menus but neglected to revise their website Ordered Prime Rib - beef was very good, mashed potatoes tasted boxed. My wife and I have only visited this place a couple times, but those two visits have given me a good impression so far. The vegetables that come with the excellent entrées have come to us cooked to perfection. One the biggest reasons that we decided to visit here is the fact that they are one of the few restaurants (at the time) that offered grass-fed beef options. They didn't carry grass-fed beef steaks on a regular basis, but did in the burger realm as well as buffalo burgers. But they do regularly offer a buffalo flank steak that is very succulent. I don't throw that word around very much, but that would be a good way to describe that wonderfully tasting meat dish. Sure, the buffalo steak is a bit on the expensive side in my opinion, but well worth it from time to time! The total bill, though, can easily get up there depending on what you get and how much. It does have a higher-end feel to the atmosphere, so we do dress up a tad (nice jeans and a shirt at least) when we visit. But a lot of the customers are a bit laid back so I wouldn't fret too much unless it's around the Holidays where more people might dress up more around those times. read more

The 'Prosciutto, Salami and Cheese platter' was not very creative - just some meat and really large chunks of mediocre cheese on a plate with some jam. We just finished having an absolutely delicious meal at Boulder Cork. We've passed by many times and talked about going here but receiving a gift certificate for Christmas got us to make reservations. We were seated in a small room with a wonderful fireplace. The room was comfortable and very homey. Our waiter came immediately with bread and water. When he came with our drinks, he told us about the specials. We both decided on the halibut and Caesar salads. The salads arrived quickly and during that time our waiter was very attendant and our water was refilled several times. The salads were excellent and as soon as we finished, our entrees arrived. The halibut, mashed potatoes, and green beans were all cooked perfectly and were delicious. We ended our meal with decaf cappuccinos. I can't say enough about our evening at Cork and would highly recommend it. It is pricey. Our meal was about $140.00 for two of us which included one drink each. The halibut was expensive but there are many other entrees in the $15-25 range. read more

My wife and I love the happy hour here. We come here 2-3 times per week. Great food and drink specials. The wait staff is friendly and service is generally very good. The place was packed and the staff was great, my review isn't pertaining to them. I would describe the food like the leftover line at your school cafeteria or the Sunday meal at most restaurants - everything just seemed old and lacked a lot of flavor and freshness. I had the chicken quesadilla which was melted cheese on a tortilla with salsa and chicken on top - that was equivalent to a make your own frozen pizza at home. The crab stuffed mushrooms were like they were made 3 days prior and heated in a microwave. The BBQ Sammy with fries was something out of an airport restaurant.
