I have been obsessed with going to Cork for some time now, but now that things have been a lot busier for them, I don't think they can give the same level of care to their dishes. I absolutely loved their lobster ravioli but whatever change they made to the recipe, it's no where as rich or delicious anymore. I assumed it was around the price of the highest priced steak they have for $79. Nope, I got the bill and it was $125. I understand that I should have inquired about the price, totally my fault, but when you have a $125 special, you really need to highlight that to the customer. We have been going to The Cork for years. The food has always been very good and the service has been excellent. That being said, we went last week and there were odd problems. First of all, it took a VERY long time for drinks to arrive. The mixed green salad was just frisee with two croutons, 4 thin slices of cucumber, and a couple of grape tomatoes and it had not been dressed with the vinaigrette dressing requested. The fish bowl had one piece of swordfish and no broth. The trout was excellent but plain mashed potatoes were requested and smoked were received. Guess they have just gotten a bit sloppy lately. The wait staff is very friendly but need to double check orders before delivering. My advice is to also double check the description before ordering. read more

We were not impressed for what we paid $490. There were four of us tonight. Fish was ok. I had the halibut with mashed potato's. It was so so. My husband had the lobster ravioli which was more like miniature potstickers. He said they were not at all what he expected. My daughter had the fillet which was great. I had forgotten how noisy it is when the restaurant is full making conversation difficult. Service was great albeit we waited almost an hour between appetizers and main course which wasn't very hot. All and all we were disappointed. We have been coming to the cork for more than 40 years ever since it was called "the Cork and Clever" and this was the first time for us being let down. Absolutely great service that is attentive and on top of things. Went for happy hour and it is daily from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Absolutely worth it and a high recommendation. The drinks are great, strong and super cheap. It pretty much at prices of a BOGO. The food is good and solid. The best thing we had on the menu was the prime rib for $32ish. My wife and I always come here two days before Thanksgiving to have a steak dinner with my son who lives in Boulder. Last year we tried a different place in Denver, a high end steak place which I won't name, what a BIG mistake, We are back to Cork forever. We all had different cuts of steak thst were all great. My family and me had the WORST dining experience that we have ever had in boulder. We waited 20 minutes to be greeted once seated. Took another 30 for her to come get our order. And that was just for apps. All in all we waited over 1 1/2 hours after ordering our food. I actually canceled my food. And the waitress had the nerve to say she comped my dinner. (That I never received.) And I really need to point out that are bill was over $400. It was so wrong! I will never ever go back to the cork. And I urge you to spend your hard money elsewhere as well. On the "Good-Meh-Suck" scale, this was a solid "Good". We wanted to find a nice steakhouse for a special occasion and Boulder Cork seemed to be the place. It was nice. My minor complaints are as follows- the Caesar salad dressing was OK. I expected better as it was too oily. The prime rib end was not as flavorful as expected. Perhaps I am spoiled by my crust on my prime rib. The meat was good though med. rare to rare is basically rare here. On the good side, the green chili mac and cheese was excellent. The mushrooms were good as well for sides. The Mud Pie was great. I cannot blame the restaurant for the obnoxious group seated near us that thought it would be great for the entire place to hear their conversation. When the lady with her back to you sounds like she is seated next to you, you know there is an issue...... Overall, I will return! read more

Cork seems like one of those places people keep going to just because they've been going there for years. The food is decent but never outstanding, but their reputation never seems to suffer. Bottom line: prime rib is what they do best, so I suggest you stick with that or go elsewhere. This may be customer-driven (based on my observations, they're frequented by the kind of clientele who are openly hostile to the concept of public health in general and mask-wearing in particular), but adherence to CDC guidelines was barely a factor during our most recent visit. Cork is packing them in, pandemic or not. It feels uncomfortably crowded. Yes, they have gluten-free bread, but it's just toasted slices of Udi's. I don't think that counts. For the quality, Cork is obnoxiously overpriced. If you want an amazing steak in Boulder, I recommend Steakhouse 316. read more

An incredible dining experience at Boulder Cork tonight, it was the first time me and my girlfriend visited. The staff was extremely friendly I'm 99.9% sure my server was Chris, he had great recommendations and was quick and attentive. All food was incredible especially the mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse.. It was my girlfriend's birthday and they made it feel so special for her with a photograph they took of us framed in a frame signed by all the staff. Chris went above and beyond when returning a 100$ bill I accidentally dropped out of my pocket before I could get into my Uber. So Boulder Cork isn't your traditional style steakhouse; its brightly lit and relatively lower prices, while still providing exceptional service and fancy paper towels in the bathrooms. On the night we came in, they had a limited menu due (the 2015 graduation menu) because I guess there were so many reservations that weekend. Apparently, they have a really great happy hour menu, but weren't offering it during graduation weekend. The graduation menu consisted of a variety of starters and salads, the aka carte steak and sides menu and a complete entree part. We started with some salads. The Caesar salad was probably one of the best I've ever had. I loved the very acidic dressing and the lettuce was super fresh and crunchy. Even the croutons were great. I also tried some of the wedge salad, which was also good, but if I'm ever back, I'd still k with the Caesar :) I had a bit of trouble deciding on my entree. The scallops really caught my eye, but I thought since it was my first time, I should probably get a steak. I ended up going for the teriyaki steak, and coming from Hawaii, where teriyaki is a staple, I can say that the Teri sauce was good!! The steak however was a little chewy, and the sides weren't exceptional (I tried the creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms). Most of our table had the prime rib, and there were no complaints. Our waiter and busboys were exceptional. The waiter took he orders of the females in our party first and came by consistently to check on us. I also liked that he told us the specials of the day and included the prices!! Being Chinese and all, I like knowing how much my dinner is going to cost me before I order it, so I hardly ever order specials when the waiter doesn't tell me the price. I'd definitely recommend Boulder Cork for the salads and prime rib and exceptional service. There is also plenty of parking and it's pretty centrally located in Boulder. read more

Came here for the Valentines Special all the way from the FoCo area and it did not disappoint!! I wish I could remember our servers name (I only overheard her say she's Brazilian, I think, to another table) but she was so sweet, so attentive, and even offered to take our picture when we were going to take a selfie. We both got the prime rib dinner, he got the shrimp cocktail appetizer, I got the seafood chowder, and we both shared the crème brûlée and pistachio cheesecake. The prime rib was seriously amazing. So juicy and the perfect medium rare. I ate almost the entire thing. I substituted the mashed potatoes for the broccolini and even that was so good! The mules and martinis were yummy as well. I will say I was surprised that the pistachio cheesecake was better than the crème brûlée, but god it was good. No complaints at all. WOW!!! I am blown away. What restaurant closes at 8pm?? The Cork! I guess they cater only to their elderly population they serve. We arrived at 8:22pm, a reasonable time to expect to get a meal in any U.S. town. But not at the Cork. The hostess told us that they stop seating at 8pm , but to check at the bar. We went to the bar, and the bartender clearly just didn't want to be bothered with us. The sad thing is that this restaurant is going die (go out of business) once all of it's elderly clientele die if they don't change their hours and start bringing in a younger demographic (like us) . They are doing nothing to bring in a younger demographic with their closing time or advertising. Moreover, we live about 5 minutes away. I was excited to go back and try dinner there after having happy hour this fall with friends and being impressed with the menu. They just lost a potential lifetime local nearby customer!! I will never go there again. Such a pity! I hope their management reads this review and reconsiders their hours. NO RESTAURANT SHOULD EVER CLOSE AT 8PM ESPECIALLY WHEN THEIR MAIN MEAL SERVICE IS DINNER. Huge disappointment. The server suggested the special cowboy/tomahawk ribeye at $75 as my son could then have leftovers. What showed-up was a lame poorly cut bone-in ribeye that was beyond basic. Maybe 14 oz incl a little bone. Complete ripoff. Add to that some seriously overcooked "Cork Potatoes" for something insane like $12 and a "Cork Salad" for $11 little pile of Arugula...was just ridiculous all around. My meat was not cooked right. It's like the cook doesn't know how to cook! The cook doesn't know the difference between cooking the steak medium or well done! I ordered mine to be cooked medium and it came out well done very brown and burnt on the outside. A place that specializes in steak and burgers should know how to cook the meat! The waiter got upset that we said something about the meat not being cooked right! The service is bad and slow it took over 30 minutes for anyone to come to our table and we were charged $7.50 for each French fries that say on the menu are included! My husband and I came here over 8 years ago and this restaurant became a quick favorite. The restaurant is set up with an old winery feel and offers an atmosphere for a very fancy dinner. They have high standards in their service and food. The quality of culinary preparation and presentation is impressive. They are pricy (so go for a special occasion, birthday, or anniversary) but worth the experience. The last time we had gone was 6 years ago. We recommend this place for a company party and when we showed up I was a bit nervous that the experience wouldn't be the same as it had been years before. However, it kept it's quality and standard. We decided to go to the Boulder Cork for Thanksgiving dinner. I've been there several times over my three+ decades in the Boulder area. What's happened to the Cork is a case of resting on their laurels. The menu is the same that has been since the last T-Day dinner I had there with my mom, and she's been dead for 15 years. Now, I had my girlfriend with me, and had talked the place up, but we were both less than impressed. She ordered the salmon, I ordered scallops. Being a Colorado boy, I am somewhat ignorant of seafood. Her being a Houston girl, and a former fishing company owner, put her in a better position as a critic. We ordered wine, had bread, laughed at the table next to us (covertly, they were a trip) and out came the main dishes. Me not being a scallop expert, I didn't recognize that they weren't done all the way. Folks, that's how you can get parasites, undercooked seafood (especially shellfish). I discovered this when I offered her a bite of mine. She immediately pointed out the problem. I had already eaten two of the three. Ugh. I called the waiter over and politely told him what was going on. He profusely apologized and said they would "take care of things". I told him that I'd appreciate that. The plate sat in front of me untouched for the next 15 minutes. I wasn't going to finish it, in fact I felt a bit nauseated. We ordered dessert (a very boring pumpkin pie) and licked our culinary wounds. The waiter came by and said that they were going to pay for ONE of my two glasses of wine ($9.00) as a compensation for a dinner that ran us just over a hundred and ten dollars. I didn't want to make a scene, demanding that they send the manager, blah blah blah. Instead I sent an email the next day to the restaurant. A month later, I've yet to receive a reply. This was such a huge disappointment on our first night in Boulder. We had an 8:30 reservation on Open table and when we got there, the waitress told us the kitchen closed at 8:30. Not the most welcoming first impression. There were dead flies lining the dirty windowsill we sat next to. I was in the process of ordering a cocktail, had paused for a moment, and the waitress slowly turned around and started walking away. She then stood about 3 ft from us with her back toward us. It was awkward to say the least. We ordered the artichoke, which tasted old, dull, and had a gray color. There was little to no meat on the artichoke leaves, and was clearly not fresh. Thankfully the waitress took it back. We also ordered a filet cooked medium temp and it came out between medium rare and rare. It was so rubbery it was almost impossible to cut. There was very little flavor and was presented on a plate of steak juice and one sliced carrot. Considering it was a $45 steak and none of us could eat it, we had to send it back too. The creamed spinach was barely warm and not tasty at all. The sauteed mushrooms weren't horrible, but weren't great. My daughter's baked potato was probably the best thing, so after we couldn't eat anything else, we ordered a baked potato to go. In a nutshell, we still ended up spending $70 with tip for two baked potatoes, two appetizers and one cocktail despite leaving hungry and disappointed. I ordered the baseball steak with peppercorn sauce on the side, which was pretty rich in its flavor. I would say that it was a really heavy meal-- I wouldn't have been able to finish it without the vegetable on the side. So overall the food was alright. The reason why i gave 3 stars is because of the service. Despite having made reservation previously, they couldn't find it, making us wait. Second, the waiter was not pleasant. He did his job but with an attitude that was borderline dismissive and forceful. I saw another waiter and his attitude and he was an amazing server. I have been to the Boulder Cork several times and each time has been a disappointment. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to have dinner there and things were worse than ever. First of all, the noise level is way too loud. Adding to the level was a male waiter whose voice nearly drowned out the chatter of diners. My plate arrived and the French fries were nearly room temperature. Even the desert was a disappointment. Poor food and high prices does not make for a good dining experience. As someone with two risk factors, avoiding COVID is serious for me and my spouse. You offer the most hospitable outdoor dining in town and we loved our meal on the patio. Our server (Robin) was gracious and helpful. Our meal was delightful - from the artichoke and cheese plate start to our drinks and entrees we deeply enjoyed the meal. Best of all, my request for extra veggies was honored as though it wasn't a special request at all.
