From what I've found, this is the only Australian Meat Pie available in the city. While it's not the best pie I've had in my life, I'm thankful it's here and it'll get the job done until I can get back to Oz. When I first tried Bourke Street Bakery's Australian pastries in November 2019, they'd already run out of sausage rolls for the day, but their sweet baked goods were very good and not overly sugary. The lemon curd tart was phenomenal and my favorite of the bunch, with a smooth, creamy filling that was still somehow light and refreshing. The ginger creme brulee tart with pistachio was decadent and had a nice little zing. The orange mascarpone danish with blueberries was custard-like and also refreshing from the blueberries. The pastry shells/crusts for all three were amazingly crispy and light and held their own. My friend also got a pumpkin pecan muffin and it was surprisingly moist, with actual bits of pumpkin puree inside. I recently returned in January 2022, and I'm pleased to report that their baked goods remain as wonderful as ever, with a nice, fresh outer layer of crunch. Both the pork and lamb sausage rolls were quite good, perfectly seasoned with a flaky exterior, but I was especially partial to the pork one. You must tack on a side of homemade ketchup as well. I also got the chicken pie (lime pickles, what is this beauty?!), shakshuka danish (tasty red pepper relish, but they overdid it with the za'atar seasoning, and the egg was hard-boiled rather than slightly runny), and blackberry custard tart (good, no complaints). Sadly there was no lemon curd tart this second time around, but Bourke Street Bakery is absolutely on point with both their sweet and savory goods. read more

Y'all do NOT sleep on their sausage rolls! My brother and I stopped in on our way out to the airport and we took a sausage roll each to go for a quick breakfast. We got one Lamb, Almond, and Harissa roll and one Pork and Fennel Sausage roll. Even if we ended up eating them cold at the airport, we loved them! Okay, I am super disappointed regarding my first purchase here. I have eaten their sausage rolls, but mind you they were made by A who used their recipe and I thought it was amazing. A thought this was just okay, not the best and wasn't excited. Hot cross buns - A said the one at Balthazar is better than theirs and even the cheap super markets in Australia tastes better. Canele - this is probably one of my most favourite French pastries and I love getting these whenever I see them, but I want to say this is the worst one. It was burnt tasting and I felt like I got cancer by how carcinogenic it was. Chocolate Almond Croissant - arrived in 3 separate parts. WTF? How does that happen? The bottom part was super dense and I felt like I was tasting some weird cake and I figured maybe the top part will be flaky, but nope hard as a rock. This croissant had no flakiness at all. I am going to leave the French pastries to the French. Pain Au Chocolate - tasted better than the almond croissant but that's not saying much. Lamb, almond, and harissa sausage roll - frozen kind and heated it up. Thought it was okay but didn't care for the almond. It didn't add anything. Raspberry Custard Tart - The only thing that tasted good from the order. ONE thing, minus the Pain Au Chocolate and the sausage rolls that I still have to taste. I am excited by anything that resembles a hotdog or corndog, so I had been been looking forward to trying Bourke Street Bakery's sausage rolls!! I got 2 of the sausage and fennel to go around 2pm. There were still a good selection of other items to try from but I stuck to what I came there for. I took the rolls home and they were still warm so I proceeded to dig in. I noticed that one had probanly been on the warmer waay longer than the second roll because the crust had broken apart. It resembled shortcrust pastry and I didnt really think anything of it since ive never had a sausage roll before. However i took a closer look at the second sausage roll and noticed that the outer pastry part had more of a croissant-like texture! So yah who knows how long that other roll was in the warmer. The sausage itself was delicious, super fragrant, moist, and savory. The ketchup it is paired with was a great addition as well. I wanted a meat pie and sausage roll. I started at the radio City location. They didn't have them, but directed me to the grand Central location 'cause the RC location was too small. I walked to the subway and rode down to GC, got out and went to the location in the terminal. They didn't have them either. They were also grab and go. They directed me to the flat iron location in 28th -their main location. They'll have them. I walked in at 1245pm and they didn't have pies OR rolls. The only option was the frozen pies and rolls, but those were uncooked and you had to buy 2 at the cooked price. So, instead of $18 for a hot pue and roll, it would be $36 for 4 and I'd have to cook them myself. WTF. I not only wasted a ton of time, but 2 subway rides. There's a place in Brooklyn that makes savory pies that always has them and they're better. I'll never be back. read more

The almond Crossaint had a texture that did not do justice to the word crossaint. It was doughy. And the insides...well... I gotta stop describing because it will haunt my dreams. Skip the coffee too. I heard an espresso machine going off, but it is clear they didn't know what to do with it. The best part? Nobody was there but us three chickens... Oh and that was a good thing as my traveling companion fell on her azz off a metal thing that was supposed to be a stool. The floors were slick and the stool just wanted to be somewhere else other than propping her up. I'd suggest they get that sorted before somebody else not in a good mood offers up a lawsuit. Truly a hazard. The bread was beautiful and I can't speak on that. I can vouch for witnessing a lady run in and run out clutching a boule in glee, exclaiming that her mother in Florida was going to be soooo jealous. I think she must know something we didn't know. Came here recently to try the mini-tartes. My favorites are the ginger brulee tarte, lemon custard tarte, chocolate tarte... oh wait, I just named all of the ones I tried! They may be pricey, but they are very tasty! The lemon tarte was neither too sweet, not too tart (see what I did there) - probably one of the best versions I've had, with its smooth creamy filling.
