Only downside is that there were hardly any place to sit, but then there was more seating downstairs there's a basement area so that was nice and the downstairs area was clean and quiet. I've walked past this place a lot and never gone in til today. It's a great find! They have millions of pastries and sandwiches and everything looks excellent. They also have coffee and tea, and their hot chocolate with a marshmallow looked excellent (I'm sad I didn't order it). I had a chai latte, which was the perfect temperature and delicious, and a gorgeous chocolate croissant. There's plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs on the lower level. I had a salad with chicken that was mostly filler and little bit of chicken. And I got a cinnamon roll with chocolate. Meh okay but so dry. I went to Copenhagen last year and whenever I miss it I go to Ole and Steen. I'm transported back to Denmark. The pastries are amazing but I also love the savory sandwiches and Brod Board with cheese. The attractive looking display of breads at the window caught our attention as we were walking by on a Saturday afternoon. Inside is modern, spacious, with areas to eat on the main level and a downstairs area for eating as well. They have a single person restroom, which was littered with paper towels due to the garbage can overflowing with them. There was a variety of bread options from Danishes, to sandwiches, to swirls along with coffee, espresso, and tea options. Also a handful of vegan options which were labeled as such. We went with the special of the week, the spinach swirl, and the garden toastie, which was a bit enough sandwich for either two people or two meals and filled with vegetables, tasty sauces, and vegan cheese on focaccia bread. The spinach swirl was sweet and savory with spinach throughout, cheese, and sesame seeds on top. Total came to just over $17. The staff didn't seem to know too much about their menu, one unfortunate experience. We inquired about the matcha teas and some of the food options and received a "umm, I think so" or "I don't know" and left to figure it out ourselves. LOTS OF SEATING! FREE WIFI! This is a great place to get some work done. Upstairs can get a little loud but they have more seating downstairs, which is generally pretty empty. I am a regular and like the place. sadly has gone downhill badly. they have increased prices. I got a sausage egg sandwich. They charged me 2.00 extra for sausage! why? it is a egg cheese and sausage sandwich which is clearly labeled. Bathroom had no paper towels or hand dryer. Feces on the floor. it was unusable. coffee spilled in the busy center of the restaurant. no attempt at cleanup or donate was made in 20 minutes I was there. server had language difficulties when I noted these things. I spoke English. The Supervisor was out and not available was what I gathered. Epic fail at customer service, sanitation, safety, and management. What else could go wrong. Sandwhich has shrunk dramatically in the last two months and was badly overheated. This made me sad as I normally and previously liked this place. Not anymore. There's even the option for a longer table setup that's great for meeting with a team. Wifi was fast and the bathroom here was well maintained. The food and beverages though... I thought they were below average. The cinnamon roll was dry and hard and the coffee was superr basic. Spring is here! I stopped by for a cup of their yummy cappuccino and saw the cutest little dessert ever. It's part of their Spring/Easter display but unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looks. It's a marshmallow peep so I expected it to be soft & marshmallowey but the outer shell is hard with a weird, sour meringue center which wasn't pleasing to my palate at all.
