Somedays pastries were excellent, I tried a couple and even right before closing, they tasted fresh and delicious. The blueberry cardamom sweet bun had a lot going on, in a good way. The blueberry cream cheese topping was substantive without feeling too heavy, and the taste was excellent - tangy to offset the sweetness of the bun itself. The bun was crispy, especially at the edges where the sugar had almost a glaze to it. I also tried a strawberry corn flakes cookie, which was delicious. It was very soft, almost to the consistency of a muffin top as opposed to a cookie. If you're looking for crispy or hard cookies, this ain't it. But the real strawberries in the cookie went really well with the corn base. Definitely glad to have this place in the area! read more

There are some savory picks + the menu also changes in the evening (they're actually open late!). It was really nice sitting inside on an early weekday morning, as it was empty and the Lana del Ray music playing made the vibes. Lots of little tables near big windows for that natural lighting :) Service was also friendly and nice-- the girl up front went to ask the bakers in the back about ingredients inside one of the pastries for me. Bring wet wipes if you get something sticky! No restrooms. ** Black sesame tahini pain Au chocolate (5/5)-- nice structure with flaky croissant layers contrasted with a still gooey filling of black sesame, chocolate, and sweet almond frangipane-- nutty and yummy! ** Blueberry cardamom sweet bun (5/5)-- frosting overload but it was delicious. The frosting flavor was reminiscent to blueberry cream cheese, and it was sort of stretchy and super sticky/messy. The bun itself was super soft and cinnamon-y, and the ridges still had some structure while being slightly gooey. Delicious! It was a nice fruity pick without being too tart. ** Pain suisse (4/5)-- awesome lamination. The thin filling of vanilla pastry cream and bits of chocolate were nice. Good for a classic treat, but I was so floored by the others that this one paled in comparison ** Chocolate chunk cookie (5/5)-- definitely crispy and crunchy on the outside with a nice chew in the middle. The chocolates inside were melty despite being room temp, and there was just enough salt on the outside without it being overly salted. I'd prefer for the edges to be less crunchy but it was still scrumptious. Can't wait to come back and try some new pastries + their PM menu! I had Somedays on my list for a while due to the pictures I had seen on instagram. By chance I visited both queens locations and had a fun time but was grateful that they weren't as accessible to me because I would be going more often. Then they had to open in Flatiron and mess up my plans of being less sweets obsessed. I have to give it to them for being open until 9 pm. As someone who is a fan of having a variety of late night sweet treat options, this scratches an itch. Of course, there are items that run out if you go at this time but that is to be expected with a popular place. I appreciate how they use chocolate well. I switch often between the triple chocolate pain suisse and the chocolate croissant. each addition to the pastry feels necessary. I am a fan of the crab danish which is a win for the savory department. While the white walls of the establishment is bright (especially late at night), the friendliness of the people there is great. In the times I have visited, they sometimes had free samples of their pastries which made me eager to get something new for the next time. Overall, a great bakery to have as an option. read more

This place is a chain? Didn't realize they had so many locations. I grabbed a croissant because I was in a croissant mood. They heated it up for me, which was nice. I think it need a tiny bit more time though because the inside was still a little cold. A good basic croissant though, good layering, fair amount of butter and butter flavor. I enjoyed pulling apart the layers and eating them one at a time. They had an assortment of other items too but I only had room for a single croissant. Went in the morning on a weekday so the line was pretty quick. It doesn't look like there is too much seating honestly so I am sure it does get packed at more popular times and weekends. I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of pastries and drinks at this place! When you come in, you can order at the front or you can use the machines. It's quite open with lots of natural light inside. Even though it was 4 PM, they still had a decent amount of pastries available. I ended up getting a croissant as well as a matcha latte, and my friend got a chai latte which smelled so good. There's also a decent amount of seating available, which I appreciate, and I love the packaging of the box you get when you order your pastries to go. The employees were also very nice and patient with me when I was asking questions about how long the pastries would last and how to store them. Somedays in Flatiron is the newest location of the queens based bakery featuring sweet and savory pastries with unique flavors. We stopped by their second day after opening to try the pain suisse and blueberry cardamom sweet bun. The sweet bun combined our favorite elements of a cardamom bun and cinnamon bun. We enjoyed the mixture of blueberry jam, cardamom sugar and the cream cheese icing. The pain suisse had a filling mixture of bittersweet chocolate and chocolate cream that we thoroughly enjoyed as chocolate lovers. Welcome Somedays Bakery to Flatiron/Gramery Area. The employees are so welcoming and we were grateful for being inside after standing in the cold (it was artic temp today!). The bakery gave us a sample brownie to try while we waited on line. In the excitement of trying the brownie, we forgot the cold little bit. The brownie was a little dry. Thank you for giving us a brownie. Today is opening day. Initially the line only had a couple of people at 7:40 though as the time got closer to 8:00, the line got longer. 1st 100 customers receive a complimentary medialuna (Half Moon Croissant). The crossiant was delicious. It was crispy, flaky and buttery. So many options to choose (though I haven't been to their other locations): - Blackberry Sesame Tahini Crossiant - Almond Crossiant - Everything Pretzel Twist with dipping sauce. I asked the employee to surprise me since I didn't know which one to choose. The Pretzel is a bit salty though it works well with the dipping sauce. - Chocolate Chunk is good and also has salt. Somedays has a great location and moves really fast even when it's super busy. The pastries are definitely on the pricey side (some $13+), so it sets high expectations. We tried the pistachio lattice and the chocolate croissant--both were gorgeous to look at. The pistachio had a nice sweet marmalade vibe and real pistachio flavor, but the filling was uneven and the lamination wasn't super consistent. The chocolate croissant was a bit disappointing inside; it didn't seem to proof right, with most of the layers at the bottom and a big empty space on top. Have wanted to try Somedays Bakery for a long time, so I'm glad they've expanded into Manhattan. The space is so lovely and has a nice upbeat energy. The staff was truly remarkable and accommodating. They made us feel so special and like important customers! And now onto what you've all been waiting for - the baked goods. The black sesame tahini pan au chocolate is everything, and I understand why it is so popular. We snagged the last one and man I feel so lucky. The chocolate chip cookie was a damn good one and we enjoyed the rich, dense, and slightly salted brownie too. The cinnamon roll had a good amount of vanilla forward frosting. I spent just under $10 on a very mediocre pain suisse. What the hell! I felt pretty dumb after this impulse purchase. The dough was too hard and the filling was bland. And for that price? Just no thanks. I know things are going up and up in the city but I cannot justify that. read more

This corner has sat empty for such a long time since the Vitamin Shoppe vacated it many years back. The new build out is quite nice, showcasing a huge window inside that looks into their baking space. I know Somedays has a few other locations, so it's nice to see that the baking actually happens on the premises. The glass pastry case shows off the goods-- savory croissant sandwiches filled with the likes of smoked salmon or chicken salad, cookies, danishes, croissants that come in several flavors. On one occasion I tried a matcha latte, on another, I had a coffee latte. Both were pretty standard, albeit pricey. The pastries punch above their weight however-- both the blueberry cardamom bun and tahini and black sesame croissant were delicious. The cardamom bun is twice the height of the kinds of cardamom buns you'd find at a Scandinavian bakery by the way, and this one's also covered in cream cheese frosting. I'm sensitive to things being too sweet and I actually didn't find this cloying. I'd like to see them rotate in more flavors, because every time I've visited I've seen the exact same pastries on offer. read more

Let me say right away, Somedays lives up to the hype! The salt on top of the cookie and brownie works so well to add some savory to the sweetness. The cookie was superb with it's crisp edges and softer middle. The almond croissant is huge and flaky and filled with a generous amount of delicious filling that would pair perfectly with a cup of coffee. Stopped by Somedays for some sweet treats! I've had a couple of their pastries before but this was my first time at this Flatiron location. The crab danish was probably my favorite, not only because the crab/mayo flavors were prominent, but also because the ratio of filling to flaky pastry was on point! I tried the black sesame tahini croissant after reheating at home and it was still very solid. Loved the strong black sesame and nutty aroma, along with the crunch croissant component. The beef bacon croissant was pretty heavy but you can't go wrong with cheesy eggs with some form of meat on a crispy croissant right? The chocolate chunk cookie mixes milk and dark chocolate chunks so I found it a little too sweet. I'm not a huge fruit person so I was worried I wouldn't like the blueberry morning bun. The blueberry flavors turned out much more mild but still present in the creamy top layer. The rest of the bun was chewy and not overly sweet. This location is quite spacious and right next to the train. Good amount of seating with great natural lighting from floor to ceiling windows. Staff were friendly.
