I started a new job on west 17th street and saw this cute cafe on Yelp, I decided to visit for the first time over a month ago and ever since then, this has been my go-to spot before and after work. The cafe doesn't have wifi, as they want to be a cafe where you can socialize, read, and relax, rather than work. It's the perfect spot to read a book and take some time to yourself. The cafe is large -- it's two stories. The inside is spacious with lots of seating and tables. On weekdays, you can order your food to go and sit at a table, or order it "for here" and the staff will bring it to you. On weekends, though, it's dine-in only if you want to sit inside. You can still get your food to go, but you can't eat it inside the restaurant. For the most part, the employees are really friendly -- specifically the servers. Unfortunately, I've noticed an ongoing theme of the cashier being rude or not welcoming, which is crazy considering they're the first person that customers interact with and it sets the tone for the rest of the customer's experience. The servers usually make up for that, though. Some of my favorite items - - mocha latte 5/5 great mocha taste, not too bitter, not too sweet - lizzy's soupe du jardin 5/5 good soup, similar to a tomato soup, you can get it hot or cold, the croutons are yummy. you can also add a grilled cheese sandwich - raquel's chicken caesar salad 5/5 refreshing, I love that it has pickled onions, dressing is tasty - kouign maman 5/5 great texture, not too sweet, very good - hot matcha latte w/ oat milk 3/5 not the most amazing matcha I've ever had, but it's still good. the matcha taste is noticeable, but honestly the presentation in the cute dishware makes up for it Definitely recommend this cafe! On our last morning in NYC, my husband and I stopped in Maman for breakfast. It's in a great location, and had indoor/outdoor seating available. It's also super-quaint inside with lovely decor. We chose to be inside, and could seat ourselves. We found a nice table for 2 and were immediately brought water to the table. We ordered our coffee and latte and browsed the menu. My husband chose the breakfast sandwich and I chose the breakfast wrap. Both were delicious, but I really loved my wrap. We will definitely recommend stopping here for a bite, and I'm sure the lunch is just as great! read more

I've been to all their locations and this is one of their bigger and more spacious (seats not too close to others) locations. It's always cozy at all their locations but it's cozier if you get a little nook. Order your food and drinks at the register, someone will bring the food to you. The egg sandwich I got definitely looks WAY better than it tastes. The egg was too perfectly round and tasted like it was cooked in a plastic container and the guacamole was watery. Visiting friends last weekend in New York and stopped by Maman for a quick pastry and coffee break to get out of the cold. There are plenty of pastries and other items to eat, either to go or have there. I had the hazelnut latte which is the seasonal latte. It was good, a rich nutty flavor that wasn't too sweet. I also got the blood orange and cranberry croissant which was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. While there are a lot of seat, there never seems to be enough space to sit so you have to snag a seat when you can. read more

I stopped into Maman after having the chocolate pistachio croissant from petit maman- and i knew i wanted that delectable pastry again! On Thursday morning, Maman had quite the line and crowd around 10, but the line moved fast and my cashier was extremely pleasant. I ordered the omelette, another chocolate pistachio croissant, and the honey butter latte. Service was fast and everything was amazing! I was stuffed when i left and couldn't finish the omelette. This Maman cafe is beautiful and spacious. The interior was really nice and a perfect stop for my family to grab a bite and coffee. This place surpassed my expectations. Perfect place to go for a casual lunch/coffee date with a friend. So vibey in there and popping - ran into two friends randomly so clearly this was the place to be & it was so large with plenty of seating. The first time I tried anything from Maman was at the location near Rockefeller Center. Their chocolate chip cookie was sooo tasty. But the location was super crowded. This new location here in Flatiron is beautiful. They took the space that once housed City Bakery and transformed it to a nice sit down space with a nice garden and relaxing vibe. I always get the matcha latte (see photo). I've had breakfast there as well. The baked goods are definitely what they're known for, but the savory options are quite tasty as well. It's a beautiful space with tables so close to together that people were making comments about it. My friends and I decided to stop by here for breakfast since it was about a 5-minute walk from our hotel. When we got there, it was already bustling with people; there was plenty of seating, and Maman had a classy French interior/decor. I got the Farmhouse Granola Parfait, which consisted of yogurt, granola, flower bits, and a fruit compote, which was surprisingly tasty and not too sweet (though it does say seasonal; it could be different next time). Because I'm illiterate, I looked at the menu and thought my yogurt bowl would come with almond butter -- however, it was just granola INFUSED with almond butter, so I was disappointed, to say the least. It's something worth mentioning just in case someone misreads it like me. :') The granola did have a subtle saltiness that paired well with the fruit compote, which I found enjoyable! My bowl wasn't bad, and it was a reasonable portion, but for $10, I would have expected more than 3 toppings because this seems like something I could have easily made myself (I really wanted that almond butter topping). Likewise, my friends got their pastries, and all agreed they ordered a bit on the dry, crumbly side. Always love coming to any of the locations. Great cafe drinks and yummy pastries. The floral decor is so charming ,stepping out of city scenery for a bit is quite calming. Not exactly table service. Order at the counter and pickup but if you need anything the staff will gladly bring it to you - utensils, extra plates etc. There's a no laptop rule, so don't plan on perching here as a work center. Just sit enjoy good cafe treats and coffee. They also have sandwiches, salads , breakfast bowls, omelets , and a wide range of coffee/ cafe drinks and juices. This is the most girl lunch/breakfast (eggs, croissants, toast) restaurant in NYC. The interior is beautiful and well thought out, with well designed floral walls and ceilings. I'd say this is a great place to bring a girl friend for lunch, just don't come here if you're hungry. The food is mostly small and doesn't taste particularly good. I don't know how else to say it, the food just doesn't hit the spot. It's well made and nothing to complain about but there's no substance to it. Stopped in randomly for a grab and go lunch post workout. When I entered, I noticed that there were white brights with tree branches lined with white flowers. Really cute and cosy for brunch, but also looked a little cramped. I headed over to the takeout line and ended up spending nearly $20 for the Tawni Salad. I really liked the spicy chilli sauce (which wasn't spicy but flavorful), but overall the salad didn't do it for me. it was definitely fulfilling and the portion was so large that I'm able to split it into 3 servings (mainly due to the farro). Manan used to be City Bakery, and it was awesome. It is a pretty space. Today I went in and waited at the host stand clearly marked "wait to be seated" for 10 minutes while I watched numerous people order at the counter and take their own seats. I asked the people behind the counter what is going on and they said someone would be there eventually to seat me. After 10 minutes, I was seated at the tiniest table you have ever seen. I ordered the pastry assortment, a flat white, and a spiced apple cider. The pastry assortment came with three assorted pasties. I was asked by the waiter if I wanted it with a regular croissant or chocolate, and I said chocolate. He didn't mention the other two, but I like surprises. The server came back 5 minutes later and said I had to go wait in line at the coffee bar to pay... weird, but ok. I go there and am asked which other pasties I wanted. I asked what my options are and was told my only options are among 4 different types croissants (regular, chocolate, pistachio, and almond). No other options were available unless I wanted to pay more. I was confused because it was a pastry assortment, but when I inquired the guy gave me massive amounts of attitude and told me to take it up with corporate. Lol. I only took the chocolate croissant because I didn't want three croissants. I was told the spiced apple cider was not available without caramel, even though the menu listed it as either steamed or shaken in. I did not want it with caramel at all, so I took that off my order. In the process of catching attitude, I was rang up for all the items and charged for them all. I should expect a refund for the 2 pasties and 1 apple cider within a week. The chocolate croissant took 5 minutes to arrive. It was cold, overly stale, and bland. I would not recommend. The flat white took 10 minutes to arrive. I watched it sit at the coffee bar with a bunch of other drinks that were not being delivered. It tasted fine. I can't believe how far this venue had fallen. I will not be back. read more

Maman cafes are always so beautifully decorated inside I always enjoy the atmosphere. This location is fast casual with PLENTY of seating. I came on New Year's Day around 12pm and didn't have to experience any wait! I ordered the quiche Ellen with a side of balsamic green mix and the quiche was absolutely delightful. We also got the breakfast wrap that came wit a delicious chipotle aioli sauce. I wanted to try the salted tahini honeycomb latte and asked for half sweetness which I'd highly recommend because even this was a little too sweet for me. The tahini was a bit much for me personally and tasted like I was sipping smooth peanut butter in my latte. I wouldn't get it again but it was definitely interesting to try. Everything including orange juice was ~$50 which is a bit pricey in my opinion but if you want an easy to go to, aesthetic, yummy breakfast/brunch spot you will find Maman to be reliable. read more

This is my favorite branch of Maman in the city. It's huge (it is in the old City Bakery spot), with plenty of seating at individual and communal tables upstairs and downstairs. It has the same no laptop policy as other branches which I like and the same food and drink offerings as other branches but what sets it apart is that once you have ordered your food and drinks are brought to your table. Also I love the coffee at Maman. It's served in ceramic cups/mugs, tastes strong but well rounded and it's on the smaller side which I prefer rather than getting a huge milky drink. I've heard of this cafe from so many folks and while searching for a spot for a coffee and a table to get a little work done, Yelp sent me a sign to finally give them a try. First of all, the inside is CUTE. Love that it looks like a little French cafe with adorable tables, sweet little teacups and porcelain plates. It's cozy as heck. There were no free tables so I took my chai latte and headed out to one of the outside tables in their parklet area. They do not offer wifi but my hotspot did the trick for the day. But any fellow remote workers should keep that in mind. My chai latte was delicious, steaming hot and perfect on the chilly day. I know this spot is known for their incredible pastries, and I was for sure eyeing some of them, so that is a try for another day. Can't wait to return! read more

Maman will always be one of my cafe go-tos. I always come to their locations if I want a solid beverage. I recently ordered an Iced Matcha Latte which was a beautiful vibrant green color. The only con was that the matcha was a bit clumpy and wasn't whisked thoroughly before combining the drink, but the taste was still good. I've had their Lattes in the past and had a consistently better experience, as an alternative option. I also got their Passionfruit Lemon Poppyseed loaf and it was a bit too moist and very sweet. Thankfully, my unsweetened matcha latte balanced the loaf. I think some items are a hit, while others are a tad of a miss, depending on what you get. Overall, the ambiance and friendly staff make up for it. Regardless of my review, I'll continue to come to Maman for a nice midday pick-me-up! read more

Came here for a cup of coffee the other day and this was a decent find. They have such a large selection of drinks - definitely check out their seasonal specialty Just a heads up. The staff would not give you a table before 3 pm on a weekend day unless you are order a full meal. We came at 2:50 and the tables were half empty. The hostess told us we would have to take the coffee to go. It was only after we said we'll just find another coffee shop, did they decide to make an "exception for us." Although, I'm not sure how much you can even count this as an exception. By the time we were actually seated, it was already 2:55. If they would have just given us the table instead of making a whole deal about ordering a full meal, I would have given Maman a 5 star review.
