I have been to this spot a number of times for breakfast. The service is always friendly and attentive. The 50's style ambience is great with large windows overlooking the Brant Rock Esplanade. These days, Brant Rock is fast becoming a foodie destination on the south shore. But, I digress. The Brant Rock Hop is a consistent "go to" place for breakfast... Also, the prices are reasonable. I had the crab cake Benedict, AWESOME. First time visit to the hop and have to say it was an enjoyable experience. We went on a Sunday for brunch and while it was busy and we had to wait for a table, the service was excellent and timely. I would definitely go again. Homefries were not anything to write home about or a favorite of the table, but the eggs Benedict, omelette, scrambled eggs, and BLT consumed in our group were all cooked to perfection! read more

Kudos to the kitchen! Our breakfasts came out quick and hot and were delicious. Maybe we should have sat at the counter because host and table service was lacking. There was a 10-15 minute wait but once we got a table we looked around and there were multiple empty, clean tables as well as dirty tables which sat uncleaned for a significant amount of time as we sat there. Also, there were many many seats available at the counter, but the hostess didn't even offer this alternative as we and others waited outside. The waitstaff took our order and after the food came out (surprisingly fast!) we never saw her again, despite our coffee cups being empty. read more

This is by far the best oldies looking breakfast diner in the south shore area. Atmosphere is great, they have coke in glass bottles, great milkshakes, awesome food (hash omlet-soooo good!) Plus great location if your looking to walk around by the ocean. Definitely recommend. read more

Starting with when we entered, there were a few people infront of us and they were sat about 5 minutes before us despite the fact that there were many tables available when we entered. When we were sat the server sitting us started to walk us over to a table, not realizing there was no clean tables and made us wait longer while she cleaned one off. We sat down, the server came over took our drink order, my boyfriend got his drink several minutes before she came back with mine and tables that sat after us had gotten their drinks before she thought to return with mine. She then left, cane back several minutes later for our order and when the food came out she did not ask if we needed anything. She did not once check in to see if we needed anything or to see how the food was and gave us the check. As restaurant employees and PEOPLE. We would just like to know how you serve people food without asking if they needed anything else such as refills considering both of our drinks were EMPTY and we had extra food that we could've taken home but she did not offer us boxes when I saw her offer her other table boxes. Absolutely unacceptable service. Would've tipped 0% if we didn't work in restaurants ourselves. read more

Awesome spot! Ordered the loaded homefries (sour cream, cheese and scallions) definitely a crowd pleaser. We also ordered chocolate chip pancakes which were fluffy and flavorful. I order the sweet baby ray Charles, shredded chicken over homemade cornbread and melted cheese, with poached eggs, absolutely yum! Couldn't even come close to finishing. Ugh, Nothings more disappointing when you have to get up and ask someone to come wait on your table and then also grab your own place settings. There were more than enough servers available but somehow they had other things to do - empty the dishwasher, make shakes, stare into the kitchen begging for their orders...... We didn't order anything complicated and it was an extremely long wait. To top it off they forgot my sons Mickey mouse pancake which then took another 5-10 mins to cook. Really?! Admittedly the food was good but it's hard to enjoy when I'm silently stressing out about everything else. We go here most Saturdays with our 3 year old who loves the 'Fancy Nancy' pancakes. I have to have the BBQ Chicken Panini with fries, while my wife loves the burrito omelette. Great waitstaff who know what you want before you do, can't ask for better than that. Summertime can be tricky get there early! read more

Wife and I stopped on a sunny beachy Saturday around 1pm. Service was very good, seated right away, food was delicious, both had paninis, also an awesome chocolate/peanut butter milk shake. Went to the hop for the first time Monday: food was delicious, though the scrambled eggs could have been warmer, but the milkshakes our party received were below average. Very soupy (almost like chocolate milk) with large ice crystals... in the long run it made me sick. I'm not sure if the milk was bad or it sat out for the 15-20 minutes it took to get them and have our order placed, but for the 5$ they charge, definitely not worth it. Having it come back up completely ruined the experience. The food is good, but I regret not getting something else to drink- something that would have stayed in my stomach! read more

This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast. All the servers are so sweet. They are always attentive to all their tables, well mannered, and happy. The restaurant is very clean, including the tables all utensils and even the bathrooms. I tell everyone to go there for breakfast whether they've been before or have never been. Even when its busy i never have to wait exceptionally long. Ive tried a lot of different dishes at The Hop and each one was absolutely delicious. Not great, not poor. Before I moved, I had a great breakfast spot in Waltham. My fiancee and I have been looking for a place to rival our old favorite, and Brant Rock Hop was our first attempt. It was impossible to have any real conversation because it was so loud in there. The wait staff were quite busy, but some did have a bit of an attitude problem such as sighing when I asked where to put my name down for a seat and rolling their eyes when we asked for straws that were poking out from the apron...not asking anything huge! The food was pretty lackluster. It was okay but overpriced for the quality. I highly doubt we'll be back, which is disappointing because we liked the 50s diner feel from the pictures. read more

Honestly, great food. Omelettes were totally on point -- fresh and delicious and quick & friendly service. This place gets pretty crowded, even on weekdays, but there's a reason. Good coffee and great food all around. However, there's seems to be a culture/vibe of snippy, almost brazen rudeness behind the front counter. I wouldn't even mention it (I've waited tables for many years and am really empathetic to food service employees of all kinds) if I didn't hear a particular waitress snap 3 times over a single morning about customers asking for the WiFi code, commenting. disparagingly about their obvious lack of an ability to have a "real conversation." I couldn't believe when I watched this woman sneeringly ask if a customer had connected with the code she'd given him, and her "Oh gooooood, so glad to hear it, fascinatingggg stuff isn't it?" was dripping with unhidden sarcasm and was bar none one of the most unwarranted displays of rudeness I've ever seen directed at a customer in an eating establishment. Why even offer (and advertise) the service if you're going to loudly (for the whole restaurant to hear) belittle anyone who asks for the code? It was enough to ruin my morning and distract me from an otherwise pleasant meal listening to this go on over the course of an hour, even though I wasn't involved. It's also a pretty high horse to sit on, and a tired one at that. This town is a dead zone, so many people need WiFi just to receive messages at all in the whole town; also, the Hop has TVs blaring with loud, idiotic morning shows all the time, so it seems a little hypocritical to mock perfectly innocent customers for asking for a simple service that you advertise proudly on the door when your other customers are sitting slack-jawed staring at Good Morning America. I'm pretty forgiving, at least I think I am... but this was a sad, kind of disgusting lose-a-little-faith-in-humanity moment that kind of put a big damper on my last visit. Perfectly fine place otherwise, but there are enough restaurants in the world that I don't need to frequent one where belittling customers is not only tolerated, but blatantly audible for an entire morning. read more

We are regulars at the Hop. I spoke up today and mentioned that our fresh fruit cup had been under the hot lamp for quite awhile while our other food was not up. They gave us a new one, so that was fine. Went to the ladies room, no soap, so I mentioned it to the waitress. When we got the bill we noticed that the waitress added 20% onto the total for gratuity. What if she was only worth 15%. Is it ok to just assume you are worth 20%. Not sure if it says that on the menu. We had three adults and four children. The staff is so busy that its hard to grab someone to ask. FYI, management, you might benefit from a bus person, they can fill your soap, and bus your tables. There are usually dirty tables and a line at the door. Waitresses would turn their tables over quicker and customers would be happier. I know for sure they lose out to the competition on busy days because of this. read more

If you are under 25 years old, don't expect good service. Waitresses assume that a kid isn't going to tip them so they treat them poorly, and then they don't get a good tip. Food was great, service was terrible. I even spoke to the waitress and she didn't seem to care. Told me it was really busy. She should be able to deal with it being busy, she works a restaurant. I just tried Brant Rock Hop for the first time today - three words: A MAY ZING!!! The design of the restaurant was what first blew me away! When you first walk in, you're welcomed with friendly faces and warm smiles from the waitresses AND from the chefs in the back. It's just the perfect blend of the retro/diner look, yet trendy and up to date collection of fresh food offerings for both breakfast and lunch. It's perfectly sized - not too crowded yet full of regulars and vacationers. I ordered a veggie omelet and a side of short stacked pancakes and walked away feeling full and frankly, STUFFED. generous portions, high quality food and just an perfect way to spend a sunday morning with my family. The food was very good and there are a lot of choices, however the service was not great. The waitress was not rude or anything like that, however she screwed up both the orders placed, did not apologized, never refilled our drinks, and took orders from larger parties that came in after us. Later before we left she complained about the lack of tip another table left. If you want good food and are ok with bad service then I would recommend this place, but if you are out for a nice dinning experience then I would look else where. read more

Since the closing of Authur and Pats which was a little pricey but great food and service and always a fun place to eat, we tried The Brant Rock Hop. The food was good but there were three other tables with customers and it took 40 minutes to get sandwiches for lunch. Not impressed at all, next time Dunkin Donuts. read more

We're new to the area so we didn't know anyone who had been there before. We were a little nervous to try it out after the reviews about snotty service, but we really liked it! Food was not inspiring but it was solid and the space is fresh and clean. Coffee is good. Portions are very large! Biscuits and gravy aren't on the menu as a side but the server told me that everything can be ordered as a side or a half order... which will come in handy for most people since none of were able to finish our meals. On the bad side you get terrible service, and can face a long wait to be seated.
