I was trying to find a fast place for lunch and punched in El Pollo Loco, but when I got there, they had no drive-thru and I had to get out of the car to go inside. Since I was out of the car, anyway, I decided on a whim to try something new, so I went next door to this place instead. I asked the guy behind the counter for some suggestions and he said the Philly Cheesesteak or the Tacos were good. I was in the mood for something more substantial than tacos, but (as implied by my original destination) also wanted chicken. I decided on the cheesesteak against my better judgement, seeing as how I just moved into the area from the East Coast and of course nobody can make a cheesesteak like *actual* Philly. I was wrong. This sandwich is amazing. Juicy, tender meat, crisp veggies, and a dry French roll that just sucks up all the juices. Dropped by Smarco's for a quick lunch time break. They have a menu of their daily specials outside the front door and the Salmon burger really caught my eye. I ordered it and decided to get a ceasar salad on the side rather than fries. The ceasar salad was actually really good, but I didn't care for the salmon burger at all. I was expecting an actual piece of salmon on the burger, but it ended up being some sort of salmon patty. I should have asked ahead of time. The staff was attentive and very prompt. I wish I would have tried something else though. read more

I want to start by saying that I really enjoy this place. I wish I could give them a higher rating. The food is really good, and the service is always great for the little restaurant that it is. The thing is, it's just really overpriced for what it is. And for how expensive it is, the food isn't that amazing. Their price rating isn't correct. Be prepared to spend over $10 per person here, which is fine, but it's a little hole in the wall and the servings are small compared to what you pay for. I caught a quick bite to eat here during an LA FEAT event over at the Hacienda Hotel. It was dead quiet in there and service was quick. I got the Philly Cheesesteak combo with fries. The cheesesteak was simply okay. Nothing earthshattering for sure. They also give you a ton of seasoned fries, which my long time associate seemed to enjoy. This is my favorite place! I love a few blocks away and come here on my way to the airport and heading home every time. Breakfast burritos here are killer! The veggie burrito is my go to but they're all amazing. Great atmosphere- quick and easy. You can sit and relax or rush out of here depending on your speed. The place had a very large menu with grilled salmon and some nice grilled chicken salads. Going to have to give them a try next time. I came to this center because of a Yelp review of a Kabob place, but I saw this place and compared prices real quick. The meat kabobs about $10. Then Smarco's Grilled fish skewer $9.45, or the grilled fish plates from $12.99 for stuffed Salmon to under $11 for grilled salmon, Mahi Mahi, Tilapia, snapper, or seafood scampi. So seafood it is. I tried the Grilled Snapper $10.45 with two sides. I had steamed vegetables which are very fresh and good, and the Garlic roasted potatoes, also very good. I liked the freshness, and the healthy choices that are available here. I sat at the counter and watched them cook my food about 5 ft away. Fresh, healthy and very good. read more

I'm giving this place one star because the staff was nice and friendly. But the food...wow. Worse tasting food I've ever paid for. We actually used the word "gross". We ordered the veggie burrito, steamed veggies, and dill weed rice. There was zero flavor or seasonings. It's clear the food here is not made with love. We couldn't even finish our meal. So, I've never actually bought any of their pastries as it is very limited. I come here every so often to get a breakfast burrito when I am running late and want some breakfast. I know I'll keep coming here because I can see what they are cooking as the grill is right in front. I recommend the veggie burrito; it's very similar to what I make at home. Food is ok but a but too greasy for my taste (specially the hashbrows) I had the breakfast plate. The portion is good and you get 4 strips of bacon and double sized hashbrows, but doesn't taste any different from like Norms or Dennys where you can get breakfast for a bit less. Maybe the pancakes or their ciinnamon roll is good. I expected more I guess from the reviews. It has no restrooms. I was expecting more of a mom and pops than a chain flavored place.
