Hands down the BEST shrimp and grits I have ever had!!! Everytime I bring someone new to try it, they always order something else and then I'll have them try the shrimp and grits and they instantly regret ordering what they got. That being said, all their other food is delicious too. The pancakes are yummy and they have interesting flavor combinations. Their homemade jam is awesome. We even bought a jar to take home. They have good coffee. The wait is ALWAYS at least 45- 60 minutes (or more) but worth the wait...trust me! I've been to the other location but glad I gave the Liberty Station location a try too. Nice outdoor and indoor seating available. We opt for the first table available which was indoors. Our server was very nice. I had the Shrimp & Grits Breakfast and Tupac had the Turkey Meatball Hash. Both of our dishes were yummy. The only negative thing I'd have to say is the shrimp & grits (at this location) was a little different in texture. Maybe a little dryer? Not sure I couldn't figure it out but nevertheless it was still good. The best is still the Jurrasic Bacon. Such a flavorful dish with lots of paparika. My fella had a breakfast burrito that was called the Jurassic or it was Jurassic style--it was flavorful and actually quite good. My breakfast was boring...I ordered my son and I buttermilk pancakes and scrambled eggs to share and neither were hot. Pancake flight, oh my word. I have been wanting to try this place for a while as I am an avid breakfast lover, especially sweet breakfasts and I had heard their sweet breakfast options were divine. I have tried to have brunch at the North Park location but the wait was incredibly long. I planned to come here to the Liberty station one for a later brunch on Sunday after church services so that wait wasnt too long! I was pleased with the pancake options on the menu and also a bit undecided because there were many tasty options. I ended up going with the pancake flight, choosing the oreo, cinnamon bun and strawberry cheesecake pancakes. I loved the cinnamon bun and oreo pancakes! They were so decadent and worth the Sunday brunch splurge. I would certainly go back to try some new flavors or their french toast. This is my type of splurge worthy breakfast spot! The pancakes are a good size so I got a to go box to save the rest for dinner! :) The restaurant is a bit small, hence why the wait times can be somewhat long, understandable, as the food quality, taste, and uniqueness is worth waiting for! It came with a side of potatoes roasted to perfection. I had a taste of the French toast with strawberries which was just sweet enough without the syrup! Unfortunately, on the patio our conversation was interrupted frequently by airplanes departing from Lindbergh Field. And after moving inside the music kind of overwhelmed the room. We had gone to a different Breakfast Republic the other day and wanted to come back since the food was great, but this location is NOT. We went with a one year old and were told the wait would be 10-15 minutes despite there being seven open tables on the patio, two inside and three open tables outside the entrance. The wait was 35 minutes and everytime I went back a minimum of five tables was open which the kid at the front said were "not open". A simple latte when we finally were seated took 20 minutes, food came in 30. Food might be okay but it's not worth the wait. Wouldn't be worth it if you're single but it was just plain torture with a toddler. read more

The restaurant is "trendy" but the food was nothing more than basic. The pancakes where things and stiff. They tasted like recooked frozen pancakes. The eggs had no flavor and we're almost rubbery. The sausage was alright but nothing amazing. We had asked for refills on our coffee and the waiter just stepped away to take more tables. He returned NEARLY 15 min later with the check and asked if we still wanted coffee. By then we were over it and ready to go. The tables could possibly be spread out more. At least outside. We were going into other tables constantly and it was hard to get to the bathroom. Speaking bathroom, better lighting would be nice. Went in to clean a stain and couldn't see if because the lights were so dim. 3 stars because it's a nice place for what it is but wasn't this amazing must do like ppl make it seem. All eggs (3 each dish) were ordered sunny side up, so yolk could ooze down into the rest of the dish. Brunch, for me, means Bloody Mary. So I ordered their Jurassic Pork Bloody Mary. Ever since the Tractor Room rode off into the sunset not long ago, I've been scrambling to find another magnificent brunch Bloody Mary in SD like they once made. After trying the lovely & tasty Jurassic Pork Bloody Mary concoction here, I just may have found what I was looking for. Once the food showed up, we split our dishes & dug in. We realized there was a location in Liberty Station and he was right...the wait time was much shorter, actually non-existent on a Sunday afternoon at 1pm. Our server was pleasant. Taylor was efficient and gave recommendations. I went with their Mac and Cheese with Jurassic Pork Bacon and 3 eggs sunny side up. My partner in crime chose their turkey meatball hash with three eggs and rye bread toast. We shared- not just one or two bites to sample, but full on 'cut down the middle, share on an empty plate' type of sharing. Both were outstanding, but the mac and cheese stole the show. Waited over an hour for a table, but was willing to do so because it was mid-morning on a Saturday, and I really wanted the Chilaquiles I'd been craving ever since I dined at this same restaurant/location 5 years prior. When we were finally seated, we waited. And waited. And waited. After about 12 minutes, a server who had walked by our table a few times as we waited, said "I'll be right with you" as he rushed by. Another 10 minutes went by, during which time this server passed by our table multiple times, never making eye contact, never coming back. Finally, as we were about to walk out, a woman (presumably the manager) came over to take our drink orders. I explained to her what we had experienced, she was very apologetic, and said she would take care of us. We ordered drinks and our breakfast; however we learned that they were out of chips so, unless we wanted to wait for the kitchen to retrieve chips from their sister restaurant nearby, we could not have Chilaquiles. We opted to wait, and the manager told us she would send over some coffee cake "on the house" right away because of the wait for our breakfast and to make up for the bad service we'd experienced. Twenty-five minutes - 25 MINUTES - later, and we were still waiting for this supposed "on the house" coffee cake. Finally, we got up to leave and all the manager said was "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." WTF? So, we left starving, but at least I can post this negative review. During all the time we wasted our time waiting for nothing, I observed all the tables around us, and everyone was being served and nobody else was being ignored. I'm baffled as to why we had such horrible so-called service, especially from the so-called manager. HUGE disappointment. The wait was 45min which was fine because there is a coffee shop across the street where we grabbed something to snack on during the wait. The place surely gets busy and they pack you into the facility like sardines. We were seated outside and the servers were constantly bumping into us for where we were seated. They apologized but still, to be dealing with that the entire meal was annoying. That coupled with the fact that our server never came to check the on us during the meal is a contributor to the low score. The dirty chai I ordered was one of the best that I have had. My boyfriend ordered the bourbon milk punch and it was ok, it was loaded up with way too much ice. We ordered a French toast sampler and the turkey meatloaf and were sorely disappointed. I order the Hickory Smoked Sonoma Jack Sausage Omelette with side of potatoes, English muffins, and an iced coffee. The omelet cost $12. The omelet was very well made and tasted quite delicious. The portion of the omelet was light and fluffy and tasted of very good quality eggs and butter. I really enjoyed the smoked sausage but I just which they put more of it in the omelet. Also, it was unevenly distributed in the omelet, but it was some tasty good sausage. The red bell peppers were vibrant and crisp and onions were tender and well caramelized.The Mozzarella cheese was nicely melted throughout the omelet. The best part of the omelet was no doubt the smoked sausage and the very well prepared egg portion. The breakfast potatoes were very well done. They were a nice light golden brown color and came very well seasoned and with a little bit of herb as well. They were cooked to a fork tender touch. The English muffins were lightly toasted and came with a side of whipped soft butter and house preserve. They were a very good quality bread. I ate at the bar and service was terrific. First off, this is located in my favorite part of San Diego; Liberty station! because it is so new, there was no wait and we opted to sit inside. The decor is adorable and our service was great. Our servers name was Xavier, referring to himself as X. He was knowledgable about he menu items helping us decide between the many delicious-sounding items. I opted to try the breakfast bacon mac&cheese because X referred to it as "dank". I learned that that means incredibly good and quite possibly the best breakfast I've ever had! we also tried the crab cake Benedict with upgraded potatoes. the Benedict was delicious, but didn't compare to the screaming flavors of the mac&cheese. the crab cake tasted fresh and had nice flavor profiles. This has always been my favorite breakfast spot of San Diego for the last few years due to the ambiance but today we had the most amazing service! Brandon was our server and he was quick and kind. He made my mom feel special for her birthday, and had friendly conversation. Our food took a little longer than usual during a busy brunch rush but we had barely noticed because we were having a good time. The assistant manager Vanessa was so apologetic and sweet, and checked on us a few times to make sure we were enjoying our breakfast after the delay.
