I rank this high because if you need to work remote... this is a good spot. I came here to get out of the house and love the Larchmont area in general. Read from reviews here that it's a place for working at (seems like they encourage it) and wanted to check it out. Got here around 8AM when it was empty and was able to claim a good spot with an outlet. However there are plenty of outlets around the space. The upstairs is great for solos (a lot of 2-seaters) and the downstairs is set up for larger group seating. Patio is great, but I chose to sit inside upstairs since I needed an outlet spot. It starts to pick up with people right before 10AM, and by the time I left around noon - it was relatively busy with people working both upstairs and downstairs... even outside. Got the drip coffee and a bagel egg sandwich. The drip coffee was pretty good. Sandwich - eggs were scrambled and were cold which was kinda sad. Especially since it was not busy when I arrived. Wish they would have made sure everything was warm when served. Although since this is a great working spot... I'd still give another dish a try. read more

Fantastic little study spot in Larchmont. Parking is rare/impossible but there are meters--but i've you're planning on staying a couple hours I recommend parking in the residential neighborhood right behind this cafe and walking the block back rather than putting money in a meter every 2 hours. The only thing I've ever eaten here is the lemon blueberry scone and it's okay. Honestly not as sweet as I'd like but that's also because I have a huge sweet tooth so take what I said with a grain of salt--or a grain of sugar? Also note: if you're coming here to study and need it to be QUIET, like I do, there's a "quiet" study area upstairs. I say "quiet" instead of just quiet because I mean it's still attached to the rest of the cafe, you can hear what's going on downstairs--the only difference is that no one upstairs is talking. Also, the upstairs is pretty damn tiny, something like 8 little 2 person tables so if you want a spot up there you best get there early. If you don't manage to get a seat up there (I never do) I recommend ear plugs. Actually a recommend ear plugs either way, you can never have too much quiet when you're trying to get work done!! read more

If you're coming here for a quiet place to visit and enjoy a cup of coffee I recommend this place. However, if you're coming here to get some light work done it's hard for me to recommend this place. The Wi-Fi is free but unstable, my computer could not connect and I heard other patrons say the same. The coffee ranges between $6-8 but it's just okay and since the Wi-Fi was so terrible I can't justify recommending this place as a study space. read more

I heard about Bricks and Scones because my friend's friend's friend opened up the place (yes the association is far haha). So on a recent trip to LA I told my friends I had to go! WOW this isn't the type of place I'd think to find in LA. It's cozy, inviting, and I felt like I was lounging in a coffee shop on the east coast (or at least how i imagine independent coffee shops on the east coast) The exterior however is ordinary but I guess it would be a pain to remodel the outside. Had a carmel macchiato which was satisfying. But if it weren't for the fact that I was about to have lunch, i definitely would've gone for a scone. For those that like tea, the tea time special (offered all day) is definitely worth it. The teas come in ipots- so adorable! and for an extra 10 cents you can get a small sampling of lemon curd/jam and something else i forget. The scones weren't ammmmmmmmmmmmmazing like ones i've had at teatime at other places, but their pretty darn good. Extra plus is the study room upstairs (SO my idea for my future coffee house that i hope to someday own) though the downside is that there are windows with no coverings in it so you still get some noise from people walking in (but whose to be so picky about that?) love love loved the place overall- will be back next time im in the area! read more

Outdoor area...downstairs area and upstairs...Outside is pretty relaxing and chill facing Larchmont...downstairs you can kick back and talk drink go online and do whatever...Upstairs is "The Study" you go up there and it is a Quiet area where you Study or just go online or read, etc..etc... Really cute spot! There's a large array of drinks and food to try out, all of it looks very yummy. I had the breakfast tea latte with the chicken mango sandwich (comes w/ a small side salad) and a scone. Very happy with all three. The scone especially was delightful, with a moist inside and a slightly crispy outside. I'll definitely want to try out other flavors in the future. The atmosphere is really nice too. I spent most of my time outside in the front patio area. There's a lot of seating and the street is pretty quiet, so it's fairly peaceful. Good spot for studying. It is a bit expensive, so if you're trying to save a few bucks, there's other places that are probably better, but for how tasty the food was and how much time I spent there, I think the price was worth it. Okay, I met a friend here and ordered the white chocolate green tea scone and then a second one (cannot recall as it was not memorable) The green tea outclassed the other one to the point where I don't remember the second scone. I gave that one to my friend. Order it slightly heated. The atmosphere is somewhat dark and moody, and on the second floor, think it's an unspoken rule to button up and treat it like a university library . 3.5 stars. Sam and I came here on a post rainy Sat lunch time. We love the vibe and the friendly service. Sam's turkey pesto toasted multi grain sandwich was very good although a bit pricey at $8.50. Call us cheap, we don't care as it's true. I hate the parking lot and not a big fan of the dry, biscuity scones. Although I'm told this is how they're made in the U.S. I got the optional lemon curd. It didn't help 'moisturize' my scone! The worst thing about this place is that it's always packed. We waited by the counter and sat at the big table since no one wanted it. Luckily. Then once we dragged on of the power cords over to the table we were set. We sat for 3 hours and watched the place get busier and busier. After picking up some peeps from LAX, we decide to go out for coffee. I decided to bring them to a new place, and found Bricks & Scones on Yelp. After a 45 minute drive in the heat of traffic, we got here. Fortunately, the place was not packed at all, which was surprising for a Friday evening. We found parking across the street, and walked over to the front entrance. There is an outside patio with several tables. No one was sitting there, and that's mainly because it was a very chilly night. The inside was pretty warm. The baristas were to the right, while a small table with water, straws, and condiments sat to the left. Toward the back was a sizable seating area and the restrooms. There were only two other customers there that day, so it was a quiet environment. I ordered an iced latte, and put some cinnamon on top. The latte was pretty good, and gave me my much needed energy. The baristas were nice folks, and made me feel at home. I'd consider coming back here the next time I found myself in this part of Los Angeles. read more

The staff was friendly and wifi works well. Parking is two hour street meter or residential areas. It might be difficult to find a spot depending on the time and day. Got a small soy latte which was $4.45 and taste normal. The cafe offers many kinds of meals including vegan options, so it was busy more than I expected during lunch time. Larchmont village is filled with chain coffee shops like Peet's and Starbucks, so we decided to try something different and found bricks and scones just barely away from the hustle and bustle of the village. The cafe had a wonderful atmosphere with an upstairs seating area, serene outdoor section with string lights, and a calm atmosphere for studying, the vibes here were GREAT! As for food quality and service: I'd gotta say, this place was awefully expensive. $4 for a muffin? That's insane! Also service was not the best. As a group of four people, some ordering small drinks and some ordering larges, we all received drinks that were the same size (???). We're still confused about that. Also staff definitely could have been more friendly. Bottom line-- if your looking for a cute place to study, this is your place. The coffee and tea are freshly brewed and always amazing -- you can get them in cute ceramic mugs if you're staying ("for here" rather than "to-go"). There's a room in the back with some tables both small and large/communal, suited for groups and individuals. It's a really nice set-up, with an upstairs quiet reading room and outdoor seating. This is a cute and chill place to study and relax with some friends. There are two levels with tables and couches on the inside with a nice outdoor patio with enough trees for shade as well as some sun. Coffee: They have Lamill Coffee which is a plus in my book. Food: Supreme Breakfast Sandwich was the healthiest, lightest breakfast sandwich I've ever tasted. It wasn't overly saturated with salt or oil like most other places. The only salty flavor came from the bacon, which was perfect for me. The basil was a nice touch as well. Food and coffee are pretty normal here, nothing too special about it. They do have a huge wall menu that offers a lot of choices. Came here to work, ordered croissant sandwich, English Rose tea (w/ milk), and Almond latte. Sandwich was decent, rose tea was just normal and the almond latte was the worst, tasted nothing like almond... The building and decor is probably what is getting ppl's attentions. Suuuuper small parking lot in the back, you're probably better off parking on the streets. Two stories building with quite study upstairs. The down side of this place is there's not enough space, very crowded when it is busy and can get noisy when there are a lot of ppl. They do have quite a lot of outlets though. But that's no use when you can't find a place to sit. You're pretty much back to back with strangers. read more

I'm not sure there is a coffee shop with better atmosphere than Bricks and Scones. Doesn't Bricks and Scones sound like an Ivy League club...Skull and Bones? I wonder if the owner(s) are Ivy League grads. Sorry, I digress. The shop is surrounded by a wall of vegetation that completely obstructs the view of the street, providing customers with a break from the concrete jungle. Also, Larchmont Blvd isn't a busy street so once you walk within the perimeter of the shop, it feels like you're somewhere else, far away from the beaten path. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the café of choice for Hollywood stars who want a cup of Joe. The interior offers many plush and comfortable seats and I observed more than a few people talking, relaxing and studying. This didn't surprise me in the least because despite the eclectic interior the space manages to be inviting while evoke warmth and comfort. However, I didn't visit Brick and Scone for the coffee or atmosphere...I came because I heard that they had red velvet cupcakes($3.25). I ordered it with a cup of tea(sorry I forgot how much it was) and sat outside. I assure you it was a great relaxing experience. I would describe their red velvet cupcake as adequate; I've had better. First of all it was normal size; I certainly would not describe them as huge when compared to what I've had at other shops. Also, I'm not sure these cupcakes are made in house, usually I ask and I regret that this time I didn't. It was topped with a cream cheese frosting that wasn't too sweet. The texture of the cake was dry and firm, perhaps they stored them in a refrigerator a little too long. Overall, if I really needed a red velvet cupcake...I may break down and buy it at Brick and Scone. However, this is one of my favorite places to get a cup of coffee or tea and relax regardless of the pastry I decide to purchase. read more

My favorite place to study in LA so far. Tables and outlets are plenty and varied, which is a huge bonus for people who need a certain measure of distraction (or there's a quiet zone upstairs). I like the front patio too, although if you don't do well with noise there's often a big meeting going on or a table read of some sort. Scones are huge and crumbly, they offer clotted cream, and that new sea salt caramel latte is very tasty. I've had their grilled cheese too which is perfectly normal, buttery - undistinguished in a good way. They have a small lot in back, which is great if you get there early, but if not street parking is plentiful - my trick is to park on Larchmont at 4 (or is it 6? sorry, i spent most of my time here last summer) cause you get two-hour parking till they stop patrolling and then you can park there till closing. Rosemead, a block away, has free two-hour parking as well. Plus, just a hop and a skip away from Larchmont Village, with all its little shops, gelato and frozen yogurt bars, and the illustrious Village Pizzeria. mm. read more

What a charming cafe, or more like a storybook cottage getaway! The breakfast sandwich with egg whites definitely hit the spot! The iced latte was superb. Excellent rich, creamy flavor. There were tons of people quietly reading, working on their laptop (with the free WiFi). People seems really respectful of each other and kept the noise to a minimal. The more chattier groups can always relax in the front of the cafe and enjoy the open air. The street is littered with meter parking but you can always just go a block to the east or west for 2 hours regular street parking. read more

I've been here more than a handful of times and it's one of my favorite places in LA to get work done! **The trick is to come early! That way you can: 1. Easily snag a free 2hr parking spot on Rosewood (1/2 block away) 2. Grab a good spot to work from (I'm here just before 9am on a weekday and it's empty!) I'm currently taking a break from coffee (call me insane, I know) soo instead of my usual dairy free latte I went for the English Rose Tea Latte. It is very delish! Tea has a sweet and subtle floral taste. $5.25 seemed pricy but it comes in one size, which is a huge mug so not bad! Tea lovers you gotta try it! read more

This is a cute little study place. The reason I can only give 4 stars: CONS - Parking is a hassle. There's metered parking or free street parking a short walk away, but during certain hours you have to keep feeding the meter or moving your car to avoid ticket. - It's difficult to study for a long time by yourself if you don't have anyone with you that you can trust to watch your stuff to deal with parking, get food/drink, check periodically for indoor seating near outlets, go to the bathroom, etc. - Minimal upstairs seating with narrow space to look for seats. Since my friend and I studied outside at first, he looked for open seats the first time, I looked the second time and found something at the top of the stairs immediately. I didn't have a chance to explore downstairs to see the layout there. PROS - Eclectic aesthetics. - Vegan options with the food. - Good tea. - Pleasant atmosphere to study. (It would be nice to study outside, too, during warmer weather. But there are some couches and comfy setups indoors too for the colder temperatures.) - More character than a cookie cutter Starbucks. If I lived within walking distance of here, I would probably come study here more often. Between an inconvenient schedule and driving from the valley and parking and finagling parking, it's a little out of the way, but I would consider returning here again on a lazy Sunday. read more

I ordered a mixed berry scone and a coffee cake to-go and the scone was sooooooo delicious. It wasn't dry af like other scones I've had in the past. I can't wait to go back for more! Good foam art! This is a nice and cozy place to relax whether you're traveling (like us) or a local (which most of the patrons appear to be). The portions are hearty with good foam art. They also have a nice set of matcha products (coffee and scones) which we thought were interesting. Overall a good experience. read more
