I used to come to the cafe that was here before so I knew I would like the atmosphere. 5 stars for the food. It seems like they can improve their system. People seemed to be getting served out of order...and our drinks came out way after our food. It seems as though they had a separate person who was making drinks and food. The person making the drinks didn't get our order so we received it late. When I asked about it, they had a little argument (pointing fingers at each other). It was only for a moment but it seemed unprofessional to do that in front of customers (myself and the couple people that were in line). My first impression was that it would be good BUT the girl at the counter was NOT helpful at all. She just stood there staring at me as I took in the full extent of the menu. We popped in here one Saturday morning for the first time and I really wish they were closer to us because I would go everyday for breakfast. Their scones and pastries were beyond great, very fresh, not overly sweet like other places. And most importantly, they had Intelligentsia coffee. The latte I had was amazing, don't get it in a paper cup though, the taste isn't as good as in a mug. Update: Went back last Sunday for brunch and got the B.L.A.T. I haven't stopped thinking about that since. It had a special sauce on it, can't figure out what it is, but it sure got me hooked. I love it (mainly the atmosphere/design/layout). It has such a genuine homey feeling, the type you'd rarely find. I ordered the grapefruit tea & was very happy with that. However, the cranberry walnut scone was pretty bland, & sadly, my boyfriend's chocolate chip scone was bland as well. I basically had an urge to just bite off the chocolate chips on his scone instead. I was left disappointed by these bland scones. The other things that sucks (as others mentioned is) 1. I love this place. It's the perfect place to work, with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Let's start with.... Food/Drinks: They have a ton of different teas to offer, and you can buy a cup or a pot. The pot has about 2-3 cups worth of tea in it. If you don't buy the pot, remember that you can always just take your cup down and ask for more hot water, which they'll give you gladly. I've had 3 different teas here; the Earl Grey, a Rose Champagne, and the Momo Peach. They were all good, but the Rose Champagne really stood out. They also have scones (obviously), a few other pastries, and sandwiches. I've tried the chocolate chip scone, which was a light buttermilk scone with chocolate chips and a buttery outside. They warm them up for you, which is delicious! I also tried the chewy sesame roll after reading the raving reviews from other Yelpers, but decided it was rather bland. I had the turkey pesto mozzarella sandwich last time I was here, and it was delicious! Note that it doesn't come with any sides, which I feel is somewhat unusual for a ~$7 sandwich. Parking is either street (metered) or in the back. The back lot is kinda hard to find; you go down the alleyway goes along the north side of the building, and there's a little lot with 8 spaces or so. Atmosphere is very sweet. Lots of dark wood and warm colors. Upstairs there's a quiet study room and a little loft (both of which are all tables and chairs) and then downstairs has some tables and chairs, as well as couches galore! It seems to be fairly quiet most of the day, but I've only been here during the day, during the summer (from what I hear, it's more crowded here during the school year/finals season). There's also a nice front patio. The staff is great. They're friendly and always willing to give recommendations. That's how I ended up trying the Rose Champagne tea! Also, today I ordered a pot of Earl Grey, and when I went looking for soy milk, they not only remembered that I had gotten a pot, but were willing to pour me a small cup of soy to take with me, since a) they don't keep soy milk out and b)I didn't want to have to keep returning to the counter. Remember: There's a student discount, a discount for bringing your own cup, and free wi-fi! Why wouldn't you love this place? read more

Parking: If you can snag a spot in the back (hit or miss) then you're day just got a trillion times better. Bricks & Scones has a great selection of teas, coffee, pastries and entrees. It's also a good place to study, though because people camp there with books and their laptops it took me and my friends a long time to grab an inside table. The reason it's packed is because Bricks & Scones really does accommodate people who want to study - it's good plenty of outlets, comfy chairs, cute decor, free wifi and even an upstairs loft that's specifically dedicated to people who want a quiet atmosphere. I've tried a few different teas since I've been there and really liked the quality. Also, I'd recommend the chewy sesame roll. I tried a bit of the soup and sandwiches my friends ordered and also thought they were delicious, so though the food isn't cheap, it's tasty and that's good enough for me! Most people when I went were working, so it wasn't loud or overly "chatty" which is what I was looking for. Excellent scone. I tried the blueberry & jam one. I even indulged in the half eggplant and mushroom grilled sandwich with a side of homemade tomato soup! So delish! I was very pleased. My only complaint, was for some reason the internet was running perfect then I lost a couple bars, not sure what the cause was but might have been a temporary glitch. This is definitely a quiet work study place - not a catchup with your friend over coffee place. When you walk in, its deafly quiet with people writing and studying. Very peaceful. They have an upstairs and downstairs with people studying and then outside where people can talk. They're Tea for Two deal is great - a pot of tea with two scones and toppings for $8 about. The only advice I would give is that if you want to talk- sit outside so as not to disrupt the people inside. Also, they're website is not up to date. They advertise a few coffees that they do not offer or brew and on a few of the websites pages there is nothing at all. You just have to wait to go in and see what they have there. read more

SUPER CUTE PLACE Came with a friend to just chill and catch up. We ended up loving the place because it's so adorable. My friend and I got coffee, tea, and scones. The scones were so fluffy and buttery. I enjoyed them with my coffee. They give you tea in a really cute kettle too. Major plus points for the experience they provide. Good place for conversation. A lot of people were studying here as well. They actually have a designated study space, which I totally appreciated. They also have an outdoor space which is nice for afternoon tea. I've been a regular in this cafe for fairly long time. Being a local around this neighborhood, I admired the quite atmosphere with excellent choices of delicious scones and nice selection of coffee & teas. Even post-covid, I was here often as I can thinking my visits would help to keep his place in business through these times. I brought my friends and close ones to hang out to catch a fresh air time to time. Since this place already have a good number regular visitors like myself, maybe they thought they can be loose with their services. Today, I was asked to get up from the table I was working with a cup of coffee for about an hour, NOT in the most nice and perhaps a polite way. While moving to another table for larger number of guests (two, instead of one) can be commonly considered for folks, at least try to mindful to keep manners for each others, esp. such a discouraging times like this. It is such a pity that I lost this place Any customer shouldn't feel as if they've been kicked out from one of their favorite coffee shops. I don't think I won't be coming back here, personally because I felt that my presence was not welcomed here at all. Their blueberry scones are quite phenomenal, although, it was basically a cookie. However, if you come at the wrong time, you'll have to park far away at a meter, will have trouble finding a good seat, and possibly sit next to a couple college freshmen literature students who think it's not annoying to be shouting their Shakespeare play out loud.
