Place itself is super cute but the staff is less than par. The customer service every time I have come in has been as if it's their first time working at a coffee place. The past 3 times I have been here the staff either makes me the wrong coffee or has to ask me a million times how I wanted my coffee... decaf latte with soy I don't think is difficult to make. Love this little cozy tea place but 2 downers: if you want a table (or even a chair!!) prepare to wait and keep your eyes peeled-most people there are parked permanently with their study materials. The parking lot in the back is small, tight and I opted to find 2hr street parking in a residential area. It's nbd just because Larchmont is a cute area to walk around. But the tea, sandwiches and scones were really delightful. I'd really recommend their afternoon tea special, two scones and a pot of tea with free hot water refills. Rose champagne seems to be the most popular tea, and definitely I was delighted with its pleasant aroma and light flavor. I got an eggplant+something panini, it was good, but the highlight for me was the blueberry scone!! I would go back JUST for that scone, doesn't need anything additional, but butter and jam are on the house! I'd describe it to be buttery, crumbly, savory until you hit a blueberry and you get a pop of tangy-sweet. To be honest, I don't frequent tea places often so I can't compare plate sizes or pricing, but imo, $10-13 for having a happy tummy, good conversation + the relaxing environment was great. read more

Such a cute place. I've been looking for a suitable reading nook/hideaway because let's be real, as picturesque as the average Starbucks is, I just can't get any work or reading done. But maybe that's just me. Anyway, I came here on a windy Thursday night, ordered a breakfast bagel and a latte, and sat outside. The outdoor seating is lovely, with tables nestled in every corner and lights dangling in and around the shrubbery. The inside is just as cozy and the room upstairs is more of a study space so it's even quieter. I figured that unless it's pouring outside, I won't be inside much. The menu looks like it's got a ton of stuff to choose from and I like their tea selection. Best of all, it's less than a mile from me. Talk about the perfect convenience! I was craving scones with jam and clotted cream and that's when I first stumbled on Bricks & Scones. I love the tea & scones combo that they offer, and the atmosphere is very good for those who want to study. My favourite here has been the rose champagne tea -- good for anyone who likes a hint of strawberries in their cup of black tea. Their scones are a not quite what I was looking for but I can enjoy it enough because of the clotted cream and jam which come with it. Pretty decent cafe for studying. Coffee, food, ambiance, and service is all good. Building itself and restrooms are clean. Free WiFi, enough outlets, and steady tables. Parking is pretty difficult though. The WiFi is free but it was somewhat spotty. During the 6 hours I was there, it would at times be quick and at times continuously disconnect me; there are probably people who come here to stream videos or hog torrent bandwidth. If they could limit that it would probably alleviate all the problems with their spotty WiFi. Also not that loud here, although I came here on an off day and hour but it was still somewhat full so I can only imagine how busy this place gets during finals/study periods. They have an upstairs "quiet" area, large shared tables downstairs, and a lovely patio outside. Aside from small WiFi and parking issues it's a good steady place! read more

It SEEMS so great. I'm sure some of the people behind it are really great. But it kept being frustrating. Here's a little list, to the best of my recollection... 1. Breakfast special was inconsistently priced; much pricier than the other breakfast options. With a coffee, tax, and tip, I felt like I had spent way too much. 2. It was just not that good. The eggs tasted cheap and flavorless. The ham was very store-bought. The bread was good on texture but not very flavorful. Butter helped that. The coffee was good but the ice melted quickly and it got icky quick. A little slice of orange or something would have helped a lot. 3. It was cold. The warm day chilled pretty quickly and the employees didn't seem to care. It was chilly outside and the a/c was blasting inside. 4. The employees really didn't seem to care about a lot of things. They seemed spacy and distracted. The guy who took my order didn't know basic things about the menu and didn't have much of an opinion about anything. He didn't get my "humorous" "clever" remarks and he stood in front of parts of the menu as I was trying to read them. 5. "No, we don't have iced decaf. I'm sorry. Look, all we could possibly do for you is like, make an iced decaf Americano." First of all, that's basically the same thing (or better); no need to be so weird about it. But second, what? You have decaf, you have ice. I don't get it. (I totally should have asked for decaf and a cup of ice, but I do NOT want to be my parents.) 6. The WiFi was slow and dropped me a couple of times. I'm eating my flavorless expensive breakfast and drinking my sour watery Americano and starting to get too cold to deal, and trying desperately to get my work done that I went there to do in the short time I have, and the line keeps dropping. Sad times. For $3-4, I wouldn't have felt this way. All that said, the place is GORGEOUS! So beautiful. I will probably give it another try. read more

What a disappointment. Looks so great from the outside we were really excited but I guess it's more of a come bring your laptop and work while taking up 2 entire tables. After waiting for quite a bit we are told find a table then order but there weren't any tables...I mean there were tables that sit 6 with a single person but they weren't looking to share. I thought ok well I'll take some yummy scones while on a hunt for some food but was shocked at their supply and variety... like a few scones and pastries here and there that didn't look so yummy. I'm attaching pic of what she said she had available. To top it off she wasn't friendly or helpful in any way. Not one reason I would come here...with such a great name it's a shame they don't live up to it. read more

I LOVE THE PLACE Service= Super friendly and helpful. You don't feel like you're shuffled into a pool of customers waiting for their drinks. They're very personable and nice ( such a vague adjective but they really are). Venue= FREE wi -fi so, you can't go wrong with that. They have space to study, meet and talk with a group of people, and a place to sit outside. The place is clean and very peaceful. I read previous reviews for this place and decided to check it out. I needed a place to get away and study. What a treat! I walked through the comfortable patio area into a lovely, cozy, softly lit eatery where I was greeted warmly. A few minutes later, with laptop set up and complimentary wifi up and running, I was served a tasty soy latte in a real mug and a warmed, delicious raisin and nut scone. My studying was very productive and I found a new little gem of a place to add to my must return often list. Off street parking, a room full of like minded studiers, and great ambiance. I'm very impressed !! This cafe is like a library that allows food. Right outside of the busy area of larchmont, bricks and scones is kind of hidden from the street. But you walk in and it feels so homely. I saw a good amount of people but its not loud. You can hear a bit of chatting but its generally quiet with calm music playing. The seats are relatively comfy and they have a pretty good variety in the types of seating. Some good for people there alone and some that are better for groups. The snacks are made there ! The scones are cheap and good. The cashier suggested that I get a little bit of butter and lemon curd on the side with the blueberry scone. and yes it was delicious. There are only one bathroom per gender so people often wait. But it's such a large clean bathroom ! and at least for the girl, the interior is adorable. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable spending some time in there. I haven't tried the study room yet but the general seating area is comfy enough that I can concentrate. I made a visit on a Friday evening to catch up with my friend after seeing the rave reviews on Yelp. Pretty tasty sandwiches and coffees. It is a great place where you can read, write, and study. However, it is not a cozy place where you can chat with your friends. This place DOES feel like a library. I could only spot few without a laptop. It made us awkward to sit inside where everyone seems to be hard at work. We decided to sit outside. It was bit chilly outside, so we asked the cashier to turn on the heater. She talked to the manager and told us that they ran out of gas. Later, we learned that was a lie. After that manager left around 7 PM, another gentleman joined us outside and asked the heater to be turned on. Another girl gladly lit the heater for him after we sat there shivering for a while. This is by far my favorite cafe in the area. Service is great here, food is great, pricing is great, drinks are great, and the experience is just AMAZING. This place is also great for studying, both indoors and outdoors. The upstairs seating area seemed to be a little warm so try to get the small table next to the window. Even outside there are plugs for you to charge your laptop, and heaters just in case it gets a little chilly. The vibe here is just overall very chill. You can tell the customers are local, which I love because it just makes the place more personable. The only downside is that their hours have changed, which is disappointing to me at least since my friends and I love to chat and gossip outside pretty much until closing. On Fridays, it closes at 8:30 I believe, which I think is pretty strange. They have a parking lot behind the actual cafe which is great, but I recommend you just walk if you're in walking distance. read more

It is also really hard to find a good seat and you are walking around with your plate looking like a kid at a cafeteria with nowhere to sit. I think it is just too popular. I've been here a couple times before to study, and it was pretty okay, nothing seriously bad- average coffee, somewhat accessible outlets, WiFi a bit laggy when it's busy. This time, however, I was so taken aback by the service. My friend and I had gotten Mr. Holmes Bakehouse and just left it on the floor to take home later. An employee came up and told us that we couldn't have that here, saying "I don't know what to tell you," when I said we weren't going to eat it. We had ubered there, so what were we supposed to do when we had no where to put it? He comes back later to tell us that if we brought food in again, we would be kicked out. Thanks, we were leaving anyway. I would definitely understand if we were blatantly eating the pastries at the cafe and didn't purchase anything, but we weren't even eating it, and we even ordered food and coffee while we were here. Incredibly rude. Overall regret spending so much on an average meal with poor customer service, at such an overpriced place with tons of overhyped reviews. Adorable and comfortable spot to study and/or write papers. I have spent 8+ hours here on multiple occasions and enjoy the environment. However, I wish there was a refill cost for coffee and that you didn't have to pay full price. Makes me more inclined to go to Starbucks. They should establish a refill cost and/or a punch card for a certain amount of purchases. Also, the WiFi here is not great. Stressful when using internet or research for a paper and you have to reconnect. I've been here all day and have been disconnected from WiFi constantly. Cute little place where you can get your studies on with a pilates excercise studio upstairs. The service was very good; prompt and friendly. Stayed in the outside/patio area to organize my work schedule while munching on some scones. Ok ill admit I don't like scones, they're too goddamn sweet, but my iced mocha coffee was really good, more bitter than starbucks but I like it that way. The blueberry muffin agreed with my palate more. Good place to chit chat in the nice neighborhood bordering hancock park. The Sea Salt Caramel Latte is amazing here! I love this place. The coffee was powerful & rich plus I love the quaint outside seating area. The courtyard is line with green trees and bunch of umbrellas that create a pretty relaxed environment. This place is perfect for reading or a cool spot for Saturday morning coffee. Bricks & Scones is one of my favorite place to go and work or study. Their wifi is relatively fast, and people there are very nice. I try to go early so I can get a table upstairs where there are less people talking. It's a bit darker, but it's nice and quiet where you can concentrate more. Downstairs get a little more crowded later in the day with more chatters around you, but still a enjoyable space. If in a group of people there for tea, I totally recommend sitting outside when the weather is nice. Their outside area is really cute, although seating might not be AS comfy.
