Went with some friends from out of town and we sat outside and it was awesome. We have also used them for catering in the past and been very happy with the catering service. Good food, well dressed and attentive servers who kept things clean. Recommend this place for sure! read more

The fried green beans appetizer was addictive. The queso (chips & queso) was bland. Delicious salmon cooked just the way I like it with a side dish of decent grilled vegetables and something they call Texas smashed potatoes which were very good. Tables were dirty. Drinks were weird and we sat there for 10 minutes without having our order taken because only one guy was taking care of about 8 tables. We left and on our way out noticed a couple servers in the back outside sitting down relaxing. No wonder we couldn't get any service. read more

Yikes. I don't even know what to say about this meal. I was kind of blown away by how awful it was. I stopped here for lunch with my friend after picking her daughter up from camp, and it initially looked promising, with a nice view and big jar glasses of iced tea (the tea actually was good!) Most of the options on the menu were pretty basic, like burgers, sandwiches, and salads, but I have a weakness for schnitzel and German potato salad, so when I saw a combo on the menu that included both of these plus sauerkraut and bratwurst, I had to order it. When the plate arrived, I immediately dug into the potato salad, expecting a warm, mustardy flavor like the ones I've tried previously. The taste was so shockingly bad I had to spit it out. It was room temperature, dried out, and had a sweet, oddly stale flavor, which is not a way I ever could have imagined potato salad tasting. I then cut into the sausage and it was rubbery and tasted off as well. Not spoiled necessarily, but just an unusual and unappetizing flavor. I was scared to move on to the schnitzel after that, but I bravely forged ahead, and it wasn't bad. It had a nice crust on it and a decent flavor, but the sauerkraut it came with was overly sour and dried out. My appetite had gone into hiding by this point, so I had a few more bites of the schnitzel and threw in the towel. It wasn't cheap, either, but I'd rationalized that $13.99 wasn't that bad if I could bring the leftovers home and have them for dinner. Needless to say, I passed on the doggie bag. I dine out a fair amount and I have to say this was a remarkably bad restaurant experience. Aside from the food, the server was friendly and the tea was good. Unfortunately, not enough to lure me back after this stomach turning experience. read more

Stopped in after a road trip it was good but a little confusing to get to. It's located behind a hotel and has no sign on the building. We had the catfish and country fried steak. Catfish was nice and tender but the sides were definitely from a can. Country fried steak was tender and nice batter to meat ratio. We got dessert to go...totally disappointed when I discovered I paid $5 for a 2 x 2 inch of cobbler that was more like a peach cake square. Cobbler should have crust and/or crumble...total disappointment. read more

My family and I were heading into town to eat. We had a cab driver recommended this along the way. We had visited this city many times before, and unknowingly overlooked it. I am so glad that we went there!. The onion rings were large and fried to perfection. The chips and queso blanco were delicious. My husband had the chopped steak, with delicious thick dark brown gravy, served with mashed potatoes that were fried and had green onion and I believe bacon in it. Never had mashed potatoes like this before, and I can tell you they were delicious also. Nice salad came with it and some good slaw. I had a burger with fried pickles and fried onion strips on it, with a side of Dr Pepper barbecue sauce in which was sweet and interesting. The burger was a thick patty/ good size. My son had the patty melt, served on rye bread. The prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

I had heard that this was an awesome place to try. Try is the keyword here. Try......Try......Try to get service. There was a large church group from Trinity Baptist Church from San Antonio in there as well. We were seated and then promptly ignored. We had time to use the restroom and waited to try.....try ....try.....the cuisine. We were eyeball ed (direct eye contact) by 2 servers and the hostess (who for some reason called me "baby") I'm 55. We waited for 10 minutes and we're never acknowledged. ...never even got greeted by a server or the perquisites initial drinks ordered. We gave up and departed. On the way out we informed the Hostess and she said "what happened". No apology.....nothing. we went to Forge down the street and we're treated polar opposite. It will be a long, long, long time before we try.....try.....try this place again! read more

I love the Greek salad and Mason jar sweet tea here at bricks your over liking a lake while eating a meal pretty nice folks too. Lots of home style Texas country cookin but if your like me the salad are great and they have grilled shrimp. read more

I got the tenderloin and it was excellent. The grilled vegetables could have had a little olive oil on them and then browned. The Texas smashed potatoes were not Texas size. My plate was luke warm but they were busy. My husband got the hamburger and onion rings. He loved it all. We will be back. read more

A Dallas native, my husband and I have been in Bandera two months. While some may not find it 'updated enough', it is what you expect in a very small town that is in time, updating. For the locals, it's one of their favorites. We love to bring family/friends visiting to Brick's. Not once has anyone gotten something they haven't loved, and the staff always has awesome hospitality.The house chips are a must, the Texas Shaved Rib-Eye sandwich is incredibly juicy and flavorful. My husband loves the King Ranch Chicken Enchiladas and the grilled chicken club. The shrimp platter and cobb salad are also great, the drinks come in huge mason jars, so go thirsty! For someone who paid the higher prices$$ of living in Dallas, the price of their food is a nice treat. read more

I LOVE Bricks and if it hadn't been suggested to me by a local I would have never thought to try it. It's kinda hidden behind a motel but don't let that throw you off it's got great food and good lunch specials. The bread is amazing, obviously homemade. I also got talked into the strawberry shortcake cookie one day, if its available try it! The staff is always so friendly but not overbearing, especially if you're there to catch up with the person you're with. Definitely impressed with this find and will always try to schedule meetings so I can stop by for lunch. read more

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Bandera. Service has become very sub par, and the food is way overpriced. I ordered a $10 plate, and ended up waiting over 30 min and decided to leave after not receiving my order within a reasonable amount of time. Never eating here again. read more

Great setting! We sat on the covered patio with a great view of the river. The shaved beef sandwich was great--with lots of meat on a yummy bun. Onion rings are huge! Hubby had a Reubens with the Texas smashed potatoes -- potato pancake dressed up with bacon, green onions 's and sour cream. The first time I went here, I had the fried catfish. It was pretty strong and I couldn't eat it. My fault because some people like a strong fish. This time I had chicken fried pork and it was delicious. I highly recommend it. A good place for down home cooking. Best in Bandera. read more

Let me just say that this restaurant is AWESOME ! The food is great and if you stop in you have to try their meat loaf and SMASHED potato as well as their Dr. PEPPER burger. The staff was awesome and I can't remember our waitresses name but she was great. I will and would definitely recommend this establishment to everyone I know and I would eat there again..... on a side note: DO NOT STAY at the motel located on the property called river oak inn. I was on my way home from camping in Utopia all weekend and I was soooo hungry. It was around 10am and I hadn't had a bite to eat. I yelped restaurants near Bandera and was so pleased to see great reviews for this place. I think it was the first restaurant that popped up on the list. I immediately called to make sure they were open. Thankfully the nice lady on the other end of the phone told me they served breakfast til 11. After passing the restaurant twice, I had to call back to find out exactly where this place was located. "Behind the Inn"...was her response. My friends and I walked inn and could smell the buffet. I usually hate buffets but this one was just what I needed. The frittata, potatoes, sausage, and made to order omelets all helped satisfy my hunger pains. They had all you can eat pancakes on this particular sunday morning. There weren't any pancakes on the buffet so I decided to order them in addition to the buffet. I think it was only $1.50 extra and well worth it!! Those pancakes were delicious!! Did I mention that all the food I ate only cost me $11!!! I love this place and I will definitely be back. I have worked in Bandera for years & live at Medina Lake. I have never been disappointed in all the years I've eaten there. Their Chicken Fried Steak dinner is the very best. So tender & juicy. If I didn't live 22 miles away I'd eat there a lot more often!!! The help is always very friendly & they always offer dinner rolls or ask if we'd like an appetizer or salad while waiting. I've never had to wait that long at all for my food & it's always hot & delicious!! read more

We had several relatives in town for a funeral and had given Bricks a heads up that we might be bringing a large crowd. They were SO generous to set aside a few tables for us, and then on the day there was a storm and power outage and Bricks had to shut down for several hours to deal with that, then reopened because they knew we might be coming after the services despite the flooding and uncertain number of guests. We couldn't be more impressed and grateful to the staff for taking care of us in a difficult time even when they were having a rough day. The fried pickles were horrible. They tasted like they were frozen and dumped in a fryer full of grease that has been sitting for a long time. The fried okra were the same. Not to mention we wait about 45 minutes for our food. read more

My family and I went here on a Saturday evening around 7:15 pm. We waited between 5 to 10 minutes after seated for our waitress to greet us. There was a miscommunication between the hostess and waitress. After waiting another 15 to 20 minutes our drinks arrived. We placed our order and proceeded to wait 45 to 60 minutes for our food. My salmon was super dry and the baked potato was room temp at best. My mother's steak was extremely over cooked, my dad's smashed potatoes were cold, and my aunt's vegetables were ice cold. After requesting the manager he simply stated they are normally very good but they aren't perfect. I do not expect perfection but for the price and the time we waited the food quality should have been better. The manager did give us 20% off the bill, but I do not foresee me making the trip out to this restaurant again. read more

My family and I went with every intention of having a nice lunch here. We walked in and were greeted by a dirty look from the waitress at the counter. We were going to go sit down in the back portion of the restaurant but my son wanted to sit outside. We asked the waitress if that would be okay and she huffed and said sure but it would take a couple of minutes. Well 30 mins later we are still sitting and no one had helped us yet. My son was really hungry and we just made the decision to leave and pick up whatever was quick for him. As we were leaving a really nice man asked if everything was okay and we explained that no one even helped us. He offered to get us menus and take care of us but at this point we just wanted to leave. Why the waitress was so rude to us? I have no clue. As much as I wish the circumstances were different and I could be writing a 5 star review, we were not even given that opportunity thanks to the waitress that saw something wrong with us from the moment we walked in those doors. I'm not one to pull the race card but for how quick she was to snap at us it leaves me wondering if it's because my son and I are dark Hispanics or because my partner has his arms covered in tattoos. All I know is it was a snap decision for her to judge us and treat us so poorly. read more

They took our order then we were told there was a large party that came in before us; however, three parties that came in 20 mins AFTER us ordered AND received their food while we were still waiting. Extremely disappointed with the breakfast "buffet" it consisted of stale biscuits, eggs made to order that took 35 minutes to get and pancakes or waffles that were good but also had to come from the kitchen instead of the buffet. This meant that either you wait to eat your meal together and let your buffet items get cold or you let you waffles get cold when you go up to get your buffet items. Food was fairly decent but they really have to work on the buffet situation or not call it a buffet at all. Also they need more servers or their servers need to pay a lot more attention to their customers. This is based solely on a breakfast experience. We have not eaten dinner there. read more
