The service was pretty good. There were a few misunderstandings, but they were resolved relatively quickly and our server was really nice. She gave some incredible suggestions and clearly knew the restaurant's menu well. The ambiance was good too. The tables and environment was spacious and sanitary. Now as for the food, it's rather conflicting. The calamari was amazing. The breading wasn't too much and the aioli it cam with complimented it well. It also came with a cocktail sauce, which was outstanding. It wasn't too sweet and the horseradish gave it a nice tang. The artichoke fritters were buttery and the frying batter was similar to tempura in a way. The lemon aioli it cam with was amazing. Dipping it in that reminded me of the mixture of butter and lemon juice we make when have artichokes for dinner. The wagyu sliders were pretty good. The burger was a bit thin, and was under seasoned, but it had a Smokey and rich flavor. The toppings on it were good, but they could've done more to add contrasting flavors. The fries weren't seasoned, so you have to add salt yourself, though it doesn't stick due to them not being completely hot. The clam chowder was decent, but also under seasoned. It was too sweet, resulting in me having to add a lot of salt. The clams in it were also rather dry. The portions for the calamari were also a bit small. I'd recommend getting the artichoke fritters, calamari, and oysters overall. This is the place that got me into liking raw oysters (I was three or four). read more

the interior setting and ambiance is really nice for a special occasion nice/casual dinner. after trying our dishes, it's just not prepared as well as the location in portside. we ordered the crab & shrimp fondue, lobster tempura tacos, marinated swordfish, macadamia crusted mahi, wok-seared ahi, carrot soup, clam chowder, brig house salad. we've had most of these dishes before but the fish was on the drier side and the risotto-yikes-tasted like straight milk and was so bland. the vegetables were also fairly bland and could have been cooked slightly more. what we did enjoy were the soups and salad. the dip is tasty but has also been prepared better (more salt, depth in flavor, umami). i def prefer the location on the water by downtown. the overall experience is nicer there, we just couldn't get a reservation (def requires one). read more

Since it's a seafood place, I ordered grilled oysters from the appetizer menu. They were not fresh. The flavor was good, but the oysters were not fresh and tasted fishy The wedge salad was great though! Omg I wish I had one of these in my city. So many amazing options! The only complaint I have is that with so many amazing choices, I can't decide what to have. Thankfully I had my mate Jamie with me and he felt the same way so we just started motorboating through the menu and ordered several things. Oysters on the half shell were lusciously fresh and had us quivering in ecstasy. Then I noticed they had oyster shooters....um YES please! The charred Spanish octopus, the BLT Wedge salad, THE TEMPURA LOBSTER TACOS!!!! The Parmesan crusted sand dabs! The marinated mahi sandwich! And the fish tacos! Yes we went a little crazy. Were we hungover? Maybe. Our server was super friendly and took great care of us. We sat outside on the sidewalk patio and enjoyed some people watching and the not so distant views of the beautiful Del Coronado towers a block away. So all you Del people take a little walk and come get you some of this! But don't take my word for it- come check it out for yourself and rest assured that choosing this place for lunch or dinner will not disappoint you and your friends/family. It's kid friendly, it's pet friendly. It's pretty much the most friendliest place around. It's a solid choice so what are you waiting for? Food was great, customer service was terrible. We have been going here for years, and whenever we have company in town, they request to go here for the fish tacos. The tacos have been hit or miss lately, but yesterday they were yummy, with the exception of the rubbery like tortilla. What we were disappointed in was the customer service. We asked to be seated outside and I was told it would be 10-15 minutes. We were surprised as there were 4 open tables. We thought maybe people were waiting to be seated. One party was waiting to be seated, but that still left 3 open tables, that were clean. We waited at least 10 more minutes after the party before us was sat and it just seemed odd. The lack of compassion was appalling after we witnessed 2 more incidents. We saw a party sit down, one of them was elderly and using a walker and they were told they needed to move and wait until they were called to sit. The elderly woman had to walk quite a ways, to find a seat in the shade, as it was very hot out. While we were eating an elderly man came up and sat down at a table outside. The hostess came out and told him he would need to move, yet again, no one was waiting for a table. He explained that he was an "old man" trying to get out of the sun and sit down while he waited for his table inside. They still insisted that he move. This was not a random person sitting at their table, yet a customer who was waiting to go inside. Maybe they were stressed with the labor day activity and we understand places have staff challenges, but this is no excuse to be rude to people. read more

Reservations are recommended as they are constantly packed, especially during Covid and less then half capacity. It's definitely overpriced but good food. Try the jalapeño margarita. read more

My friend and I stopped into The Brigantine for a late dinner one evening while we were wandering around Coronado. I definitely recommend making a reservation online before you stop in as it can get pretty busy here. Once we arrived to the restaurant, we were sat immediately outside which was really nice. After this, it took about 20 minutes to get our server to come over and get our drink orders (which is the reason for 4 stars). It seemed like we were just sat in a weird spot where the servers weren't sure of who was responsible for our section, which seemed a little strange. As an appetizer, we ordered the Crab and Shrimp Fondue, as well as the Brig Classic Calamari Strips. We absolutely loved the fondue and plan on ordering it again! I really liked how it came with garlic toast on the side to dip in as well. They gave you a large portion of toast on the side which turned out to be the perfect amount for the portion of fondue. The fondue was super gooey and had a really strong crab and shrimp taste which I really enjoyed. The calamari strips were really thick and had a nice batter on the outside. It came with a small jalapeño white sauce that was absolutely amazing! I definitely recommend both of these appetizers, as they both were really good portions for the entire table. As an appetizer, I ordered the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi which was the perfect portion. I was skeptical of the macadamia crust, but I ended up really enjoying it! It was served with vegetables and risotto which was a really nice compliment. I used a couple of lemons to give the risotto some more flavor, which ended up being really good when eating it with the fish. Overall, I really enjoyed our experience at this location! We are staying in the Coronado area this week and after a long day at the pool/beach we were eager to get some lunch in the local area. We've never dined here, so we were looking forward to experiencing something new. I was able to put our names down with the hostess and after 5 minutes or so they had our table ready. I love that they've extended their seating outside to accommodate for more diners. I felt very safe dining with my family because of the precautions they're taking like cleanliness and masks, and distancing. I am newly pregnant and very much craving a pina colada and was very excited to see one on their menu (virgin, of course)!. It was delicious...so much so I ordered 2 by the time we were done. I opted for their French Dip sandwich, my 4 year old had their corndog with fries, and my husband munched on a few of their smaller plates such as shrimp cocktail, mussels, and a lobster salad. Everything we ordered came quickly and was so delicious. Our waitress was so welcoming and pleasant as well, which made us really enjoy our meal that much more. Eating here was a great stop in our busy day and I look forward to dining again soon. Staying at the Del, but sick of their prices, husband and I made last minute reservations for Brigantine for dinner. We arrived early and our table wasn't ready, but we grabbed a seat at the bar and had a cocktail (they made them strong). Hostess told us when our table was ready and we could have just transferred our bar tab to our dinner bill (I love when you have that option), but we closed it out. We were seated at a booth. Our server was friendly and we were HUNGRY. Food: 1/2 dozen raw oysters-had a variety of 3 types and they were good Brig House Salad-dried cranberries, candied pecans, blue cheese, house vinaigrette. Really Enjoyed this Salad. A little too much dressing, but a good taste combo. Crispy Coconut Shrimp-Very Good. Crispy & dipping side was a good pairing. In a constant mission to eat everything and everywhere when vacationing, we stopped at Brigantine for some seafood-centric happy hour specials! Between the two uf us, we split: $8 happy hour shakers - these pre-mixed drinks come served in large tumblers and easily poured out two full glasses. Ceviche - our "quality over quantity" selection, this was a good addition to our food flight, leaving plenty of room for the rest! Swordfish tacos - these were a little bit too fried for my taste, but the batter was pretexts tasty. Ranch, cheddar, and pico de gallo rounded out the accompaniments. Crispy soft shell crab BLT - this was the best thing we ordered...delicious! The food here was good, and certainly made better since it was just about half-price during happy hour, and the friendly service (thanks Adam!), outdoor seating, and on-site parking sweeten the deal! If you're hankering for some seafood in Coronado, Brigantine is your best (and for now, your only) bet. . Side note - We found out that they have their own on-site parking lot, and my friend Lisa wanted to move her car out of our metered spot to take advantage. She wanted me to walk with her, and our server had no problem literally letting us both leave mid-meal to move the car. Brigantine has been consistenly one of the best resturants on the lsland for the many years I've been visiting. Having said that they they changed their chowder recipe. It's not as great as it used to be. I'm downgrading its score from a 10 to a 5. Just had lunch there a few days ago with friends. I tried the chowder again, still don't love it but I'm trying to get used to it. We also ordered the Coconut Macadamia Shrimp, my mouth is watering thinking of this. The BLT Wedge Salad, Crab and Lobster Cobb, Crab stuffed Jumbo Prawns and Salmon Taco's. Everything sans the chower was outstanding. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT. ***Regarding their staff. I feel like many resturants on the island take their customers for granted. They have a captive audience and they know it. I feel this way about Brigantine. I would not call their hostess staff warm, friendly or accommodating. The waiters and waitress' more so, their lively hood depends on it. Went to dinner looking forward to the fish and chips, but was terribly disappointed - without question, the worst I've had anywhere. Fish filets were hard as a rock, slippery and simply would not flake. They were even difficult to cut. Our waiter seemed not to notice the pile of greasy batter alongside the pile of bare, inedible fillets on the plate. I really should have spoken to someone about how bad they were, that's on me. The fries that came with were very good. We also got the coconut shrimp and they were fair. Usually at the Brigantine in La Mesa, but was visiting Coronado with friends and I knew this would be a great place to have a bite and a couple cocktails. It's great that they had the absolute Mandarin vodka that I like (since they don't have it at the La Mesa store) and the bartender told me when that bottle is out they won't be continuing to carry it, bummer. But even though they had my favorite vodka, they don't do the potato skins like La Mesa does, I wonder why not? I had the oysters, octopus, and scallops with everything being very delicious. What surprised me was how good the octopus was. It was cooked perfectly and very tender with a Smokey taste not chewy at all like expected. Everything on the plate that went with it like the Brussels sprouts, sausage, hummus (I think), and what seemed like Spanish olives all went soooo well. It's definitely one of those places you may want to not just walk in with flip-flops and jeans (which we did...), but they dont discriminate. Their complementary bread was really good. Reminds me of Cheesecake factory bread but better, softer, nom-er. Had the - Lobster Fettuccine - a little bit bland but didnt taste bad. Dark wooden walls, even darker carpeted flooring, this all reminds me of either Black Angus, or one of the tourist trap seaport village restaurants. In any case, if you're in a pinch in Coronado this is a pretty good choice. What was really nice was their offering of a pre fix menu. A decent appetizer ( choice of soup, salad, shrimp, etc), a main, and a dessert for around 20-something. For a nice sit down seafood restaurant you really can't beat that deal, especially in Coronado. Was the fish the best? We had Sunday brunch here. The food and service were outstanding. It was a very pleasant experience.

Made reservations at 7pm for 2, I assumed they would have a table indoors but they were going to take us outside and it was too cold. Requested to sit indoors. They took quite a few people that walked in before I asked why they were seating walk ins when we made reservations. I was told because you didn't request indoor seating when making the appointment. Anyways the manager came by about 20 min later and brought us to a table that could seat 8 we got the menus and a few min later they asked us to move to a smaller table. The waitress that helped us was really nice she apologized for the inconvenience. Our food came out fast, the food was HOT and was really delicious. Highly recommend the food! Side note: be sure to bring a jacket if you come at night, most the seats were by an open window, but it was better than being outside. read more
