This is a great lunch option downtown that is not your typical sandwich or Chipotle style place. You build your own wok or salad, choosing a sauce, base (noodles or rice), protein, and 4 veggies. Being my first time I wasn't sure what would make the best combination so I ended up going with the creamy cashew, rice noodles, tofu and veggie combination. Everything was very fresh, delicious, and very filling. I was not hungry for at least 6 hours after and that is saying something! Brightwok claims to be "healthy" but I don't know how healthy my creamy cashew sauce was... it was super delicious and there isn't any nutritional information that I saw. Next time, I will stick to a lighter sauce so I'm not so full afterwards. read more

The food here is definitely good, but I'm not sure they can really claim it's healthy. Everything is SOAKED in oil before it's cooked which kind of negates the healthy and fresh ingredients. I'm talking like..a half cup of oil/my bowl has a solid layer of oil on the bottom when I'm done. With high calorie sauces, I don't think this is really a healthy option. It's also can get a little pricey for a quick lunch. That being said, if you don't care about that, it is pretty good. I've had a few things here that are super tasty, including some of the sides. I just tried Bright Wok for the first time this summer and I'M OBSESSED!!!! I love that my carnivore husband and I (vegetarian) can both get healthy, satisfying meals at the same place. So far my favorites are: their lettuce wraps, the Win-Win, their Thai Basil sauce and their Space Cake. My husband loves it all as long as it comes with a fried egg on top. Their customer service is also great, they move really fast and get my orders done right away. Always super friendly and welcoming. Brightwok is next door to my office and is such a great new place for weekday (and weekend) lunch. I adored the Thai basil which had a sweet after taste, as well as the creamy cashew has a great kick. Have not tried the sides yet, but enjoyed that the beverages all had character--Stumpton and Zingerman's java are difficult to locate anyplace else in Chicago.
