Great down home place to get just about anything in a snap. I normally gravitate to the breakfast menu. I normally get the #3 two eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and coffee. The breakfast is always cooked just right. Hash browns well I've yet to find a better hash browns anywhere. Eggs always cooked perfect over medium. Bacon always just the right amount of crispy with out being completely fried to all hell. I usually skip toast. The coffee, well let me tell you this is no normal diner coffee either. You will want to try the coffee. They serve up Apffels coffee and mm mm mm. If you have not checked out this place yet set a morning aside and do it. read more

Where not to eat in San Carlos. Just finished lunch here. The place looked dirty, and no one was bussing the many tables. They moved at a snail' space and managed to run out of clean forks, leaving customers to look at their food while it got cold. Food was marginal. read more

I and a friend eat in this place at least 3 times each month. The food is consistently good and the owner is a very pleasant individual. Prices are low but the quality is quite good considering what you are paying for a meal. This is probably the best "inexpensive find" to be had in the entire city. read more

I am pretty sure this place has the best burgers in San Carlos. That's all we get here but have been doing it since they opened. Beats going to in or out or any of drive throughs. I had been going to the boiler for the last 10 yrs never had a complaint up until probably the last couple of months when I asked them to cook my food a certain way they never can do it the way I asked them to well as of lately I've been going in asking for a large sausage which apparently is a number 7 it's linguica or chorizo so today I go in I tell the gentleman three times what it is I want how I want it cooked he says no problem the food comes out my hash browns or burned the sausage is the little sausage that they serve with bacon and pancakes or eggs I tell them I told you I do not want my hash browns burned what are you giving me this sausage for well you said you wanted this I said three times now I wanted a large sausage the owner gets all upset with me after the Cook says what you ordered if I said I ordered something completely different than what you are bringing out here well we don't know the difference apparently you know the difference in price because you charge me for the larger items and you come out with the smaller item so right there you were cheating me and the owner very very rude the customer is always right I've been a customer now for 10 years I could not help it if your staff cannot speak English and apparently with somebody asked you to cook something a certain way and you do not you get away with it I call you on it and you had the nerve to be so rude today well you lost my business forever I will never promote your business to anybody if anything I will say just how rude of honored you really are I'm surprised you made it this far in business good read more

i love this place!!! i can call in an order, and they have it for me ready to go, as expected, but they include everything i could need for the meal, including utensils, salt pepper and butter. they staff is always nice and friendly. they offer deals for breakfast and lunch and it is cheaply priced for quality food and quality amounts. i judge a place on their recipe for pancakes and their recipe is delicious. this gem is placed in a high economic area and very reasonably priced. lovin it!!!! read more

Bf and I came to Broiler Express for the first time for breakfast. We came here on a whim. I didn't Yelp it before coming! When we got in, it was a nice restaurant with plenty of seating...and plenty of available seats for that matter. We were surprised at how empty it was, but our guess was that it was a Tuesday morning. Since it was our first time here, we didn't know what type of service to expect. We entered...we weren't greeted or anything. We then got a "good morning" from a young lady behind the counter. We took a look at their menu (which was huge by the way) and both decided on what to get. Bf got the corned beef hash and I got the banana waffle. Of course, we both ordered coffees. Now for the critique: the food we got was (like my rating) A-OK. I hate being over critical, but I wasn't blown away. In addition, we got coffee from the dispenser and it tasted like it has been sitting under a warmer all day, and it was only 9am. In other words, the coffee tasted old. read more

I have been here a couple times in the past and the food has always been excellent; juicy burgers, crispy greasless fries, friendly service, and a clean atmosphere and low prices. Fastforwars to this past Friday and nothing has changed. The bacon burger is juicy with fresh tomato's, onions, an pickles on a fresh bun with crispy bacon. The pineapple upside down cake is moist with fresh pineapple; tastes so homemade. I had a taste for a gyro and saw that this restaurant served them. I decided to try it. The gyro did not meet my expectations. The meat and the Tzatziki sauce lacked flavor. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! My girlfriend went to check on my order after 35 mins of waiting and was told to go sit down. Nothing else just got sit down. When the food came it was rushed. Been coming here of and on for 10 years or so It has been going downhill as of late. I waited over 20 minutes to get my food and it was not busy at all. Used to go here a lot. They open early for breakfast, and we regularly met friends for Sunday breakfast. Prices are/were reasonable. Stopped going there because the tables were never cleaned. Even after a waitperson would wipe a table down, there'd be sticky syrup - I don't think they used cleaner, or washed their rags, or generally paid attention to table chairs and krud on the floor. Too bad they couldn't get that right, but that just creeped me out. I actually considered calling the health department on my last visit. read more

Crappy experience. I order a #2 (or whatever number it was, I don't remember). When the food was delivered to the table, I said I thought it came with potatoes. The servers said no. I went inside and looked at the menu on the wall and there were 2 #2's. One on the "specials" menu and one on the regular menu. I said, that I thought i was ordering the regular #2 and that I just wanted potatoes. The guy behind the counter started arguing that I got what I ordered, so on and so forth. He was awful. I tried to explain that there were 2 #2 (and #1,#3 & #4) and that I simply thought I was ordering the other one. No harm no foul, just give me a side of potatoes. Who I think was the owner stepped in and was equally rude and acted as though I was completing irrational. End all be all, food was mediocre everything else was crappy. read more
