Went for breakfast on a Thursday. We ordered the Newport Beach egg white omelette, chicken fried steak and eggs and the California eggs Benedict. The chicken fried steak was way over cooked. The hollandaise sauce had zero flavor, the eggs were over cooked. The omelette was bland. The house potatoes were yesterday's baked potatoes. Everything lacked flavor and seasoning. Our server was also the break server so after he dropped off our food we were not checked up on. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette my fault not really knowing what I wanted and some pancakes, I guess I was upset about my brother's dying and I was crying at the table. Manager came over and asked me to leave. I tipped 15% though. I don't know. The waitress kept asking me if I was okay and I kept saying no. You ever have to redo your whole life? This restaurant is pretty good, similar to Black Bear diner. Although, there are not a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. Even the "Vegetarian Soup" is made with beef broth. (Really, Brookfields? BEEF broth in vegetarian soup?!?) I try to eat grain, dairy and egg free, so slim pickens unless I want a salad. I'll typically get a side of breakfast potatoes with avocado and fruit. It's good. My partner adores the Belgian waffles. Service is also typically good unless they're busy. Overall a decent place to eat. read more

Safe-convenient parking; waiting area till my two friends arrived. Hostess seated us at a table area where we were comfortable due to our size. Waitress Ryann P. greeted; got drinks; bread orders then our meal quickly. The restaurant was busy on Sat evening; everything was smooth. There is a change to my favorite order of salmon; the rib special was low. But it all came through. Fine plates of food. Meaty ribs! The balsamic glaze on salmon is beautiful; taste so good. Our friend's omelet custom order as she requested. Superb! Plenty of napkins, drinks refilled while we made ourself at home to eat; visit. I usually come alone; this was exciting time with friends. Getting to go boxes; dessert; bill just happened so well. Ryann is lovely; on top of her job; was able take some tease from my friend. I will probably get a to go order of ribs this Sat early. I had less than a one-star experience at Brookfields Roseville restaurant this week. Ordinarily, Brookfields is cheated by any scale that doesn't reach ten stars. I had delayed my first meal of the day and drove over 60 miles to officially start my day with one of Brookfields' extraordinary breakfasts. I arrived at their easy-to-find Roseville location. The parking lot was humming. Once inside I realized that there were lots of personal parties going on -- it's graduation week, and it looked like there might have been a few early Father's Day celebrations too -- the place was busy. Knowing their routine, I put my name on their waiting list. I also told the hostess that I was more than happy to sit at the counter. She reassured me that their smaller tables were underused and it would just be a few minutes. I stepped away from the hostess area and waited my turn. I waited for close to 30 minutes as one small party after another was being seated -- and these were people who'd come in after me. I finally found another hostess. She checked their list and found that my name had not been added. Apologizing, she led me to a clean booth next to a window that overlooked their pleasing, sunny, exterior. My server, who was as busy as all the other servers, greeted me in just a couple of minutes. Water, utensils, and coffee were set in place in the blink of an eye, and then he took my order. I sat there another 20 minutes waiting for my meal. It finally arrived but with the wrong toast. That happens. My server apologized and said he'd stand by the toaster and zoom the correct toast back to me ASAP. (This was above and beyond -- and typical here.) I realized that my sausage and egg breakfast must have been sitting for some time -- it was barely warm and my fried eggs had turned to gel. I finally started eating while observing my server sprinting around the place, even right past me, and without a word about the rest of my breakfast. In the meantime, I was hoping for a second cup of coffee -- I mean, I'd been seated for over a half-hour. Both hostesses casually passed by without a glance -- several times each -- as well as four other servers who did not seem overburdened by their work. I finally got up and went behind the counter to refill my cup. I guess that I might consider the positive side of things -- breakfast served as a three-course meal! I'm sure that's not their intent though, and it certainly wasn't mine. Feeling pretty steamed up, I decided it was time to go. I took my ticket up to the hostess station (and that's probably an old-fashioned term -- sorry) to pay. She was the hostess who was supposed to add my name to the waiting list, and the one who'd walked right past my table several times. She was fiddling with menus (not complaining -- part of the job). However, she set them down and turned to leave. I asked her to give me a second, "Am I invisible today?" She seemed a little surprised by my question. I explained my experience, including that she had not added my name to the waiting list. In every way, I was not seen or attended to until I spoke up, or went to grab my own coffee. She immediately apologized and said that I shouldn't have to pay for my meal. Thank you. Thank you a ton -- sincerely. But, I'd have to say, too little, too late. Look, I know that the place was busy. I set my expectations by what I'm told to expect, and no higher. Though she didn't use it, she had a great excuse -- the place was BUSY! However, that's NO excuse for the other unusual things I experienced. It's poor planning by management that leaves a restaurant -- one with dozens of multi-party reservations -- understaffed. It's a failure to train their staff to be alert to every customer's needs. (This has been my experience on dozens of previous visits to this location -- an expectation that Brookfields has set for themselves.) Finally, it's a failure of anyone on duty that has any management responsibilities to coach their people to keep tuned in to every customer. Otherwise, the message is, "You're not my responsibility." read more

I love this place! I don't live locally anymore but when I'm in town visiting family, I always make sure I come here. The food is delicious and a great value! The setting is comfortable with minimal noise level even when busy. The staff is always kind and makes you feel like you're home. Always consistent. I was just there this past Sunday afternoon and had my usual terrific experience. I also had the opportunity to interact with the manager and his care for the restaurant was evident. read more

Severely disappointed with my curbside order today. Placed my order online for a pick up of a spinach, mushroom and jack cheese omelet. Added bacon and avocado for and extra $3. I requested an 1130 pick up time. Pulled up to the curbside area, called the restaurant and was told someone would be right out. Food was out to me within 5 minutes. Cool. The top to the take out container was not secure, the avocado was too brown for my liking (I did not eat) and the bacon wasn't very good. There was no fork or napkins provided. Maybe it was my fault for not asking for one? Thankfully I was able to dig a fork out of my glove box. I'm usually super picky when it comes to going out to eat cause I like to avoid disappointment but i was starving and hadn't eaten a meal in a couple days. I was very disappointed. We usually visit the Madison Avenue location, but we were shopping at the Roseville Auto Mall so we stopped at this location. Since we are still under COVID conditions, we got take out. I got my regular, which is their steak sandwich and oh so delicious. I opted out for the mayo and got steak sauce with it. The mayo that comes with it is spicy and I can't handle spicy. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and it was a lot of food. He is pretty picky about his chicken fried steak's and chomped it down with no complaints. We did see people eating inside, but we didn't want to take any chances, so we ate at home. read more

Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. We were visiting Roseville (outside of Sacramento) and wanted a good dinner at a place that was not the same old thing. He spotted Brookfield's from the freeway, and decided to give me a try. The staff was so friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. We had such a nice time chatting with our waitress and the host. Our waitress gave us some great tips for our visit to Roseville. The menu had some fantastic homestyle classics, like the delicious French dip that I ordered. But they also had some great, fresh new options we had never seen before, like an artichoke heart panini that was absolutely delicious. All of the food was wonderful, including their giant brownie sundae for dessert. We look forward to visiting one of Brookfield's 3 locations on our next visit to the Sacramento area. I think it's time I updated my review. I'm dropping a star. I've let it go the last few times and either the food or service has been hit and miss. On this visit, our server was a "Miss" Anyway, I'm not going into lengthy detail. She pretty much ignored our table and requests for items, never came around to check, and never refilled. Yes, I tried to give her the benefit of a doubt that she may be busy but I can't excuse it if she's overly attentive to other tables. Sad thing is that she wasn't friendly from the start. We almost felt as if she mistook us for someone else? We were glad when Brooke came over to tell us that she was taking over because our server was going on her lunch break. Brooke made it a point to refill our drinks and was very personable. You will get better portions at a fast food joint. There is no care in dishing this food either. The best way to describe the food is "sad." Like a monochromatic soviet ration that most likely got microwaved. I wouldn't be surprised to be served my $20 meal in the "Hungry Man" box it came in. This place just made my permanent ban list. Dennys is a better option. The good news is, I just got prescribed antibiotics otherwise the limp, gray, anemic burger patty I ate might be more of a concern. read more

My first time at this location. I am a Brookfields fan! I was seated right away. And was served tea and a fantastic blueberry scone within minutes. My breakfast came soon after. Amazingly fast! The servers work as a team here, so I never waited for anything. So efficient! My San Francisco Joe's Special was soggy, darnit. And their version has olives included. Not a good idea. I think it should be EITHER olives OR mushrooms. Not both. Between the olives and sogginess, I could not eat them. Gross flavor and consistency. So I picked the olives out and forced the soggy pile down. The recipe needs tweaking imho. My server noticed my disappointment and brought me some beautifully scrambled eggs (no charge). They care here! The potatoes were perfectly cooked and yummy. I suggest you order anything EXCEPT the SF Joe's Scrambled Slop. UPDATE: they did not charge me for my SF Joe's Scramble. It is one of those "just okay" places. We ate here about 5 years ago and didnt really care for it but none of us could remember anything about it so we went back yesterday. Now I remember, lol. They still aren't currently seating inside and the outside dining was nice even though it was in the 90s outside, it felt pretty good. I love ham n cheese sammiches so I ordered the Sams Melt because it said it was shaved ham. To me shaved ham is thin sliced but this was thicker cut which was a turn off for me. It was more the thickness of breakfast ham which sine places will use on thwir sammiches and thats fine, just isnt for me. Cant stand thick ham on my sammiches. I ate half only. I opted for onion rings as I usually do instead of fries and they were good but not in house made for sure, I would say they tasted like the pre formed ones at burger king just larger. We have decided this will be our last trip here. It is not worth it for the quality of food you get for the high prices. I am sorry Sam, your sammich just isnt for me. read more

I bopped in here for an early Sunday dinner. I haven't been here in a couple of years. So I was excited to see that the interior had a slight remodel. Amazing what new paint, updating lighting fixtures, and adding modern interior design touches can spruce up a place making it brighter and cheerier. Anyhoo, the menu sticks to the simple traditional diner items. Basic comfort food down right-no new or hip food trends here. Breakfast served all day( except waffles). Varying price points, with value entrees. Kids 10 and under eat free per one kids entree for every one adult entree Monday-Thursday 4pm-9:30 pm. We ordered two items off the dinner value menu. Meatloaf, veggies, and mash potatoes $10.97 and turkey, mash potatoes, and baked pumpkin $11.97. The food came out hot. The meatloaf and brown gravy was simple and tasty. The mash was real potatoes, no faux food flakes. The baked pumpkin was delicious; baked to the point of slight caramelization that brought out the natural sweetness. Yum! The wait staff was on point. Moved to Roseville in April and it was not until New Years Morning we decided that, along with our over night guests, to go to breakfast. Searched "gluten free" near me and several places popped up. I needed a place that could accommodate 6 people, was kid friendly and of course had several GF options. Well, there was GF bread on the menu!! tons of meal options and kid friendly. I decided to call on the way to see how busy they were for a 6 top and was greeted with kindness and told they would have a table ready for us when we go there! GO Brooksfield!! The wait staff and hostess were very friendly. I saw so many smiles that morning and the food was really good. I can always count on a really good meal at Brookfields. The servers are fantastic and I'm sorry I always forget names but it doesn't matter because I've probably been served by all of them. It's one of my favorite restaurants. The only thing I haven't had are the desserts. I usually am too full to eat any more but I love the burgers, salads, sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and I've even ordered the turkey dinner not any time near Thanksgiving and the chef's always do an amazing job.
