A friend and I ate dinner here earlier today and were met by very welcoming staff. We were seated quickly and received our food just as quick. We both ordered the 2 piece fish and chips. I was immediately disappointed by the very small size of both pieces of fish. One of them was easily 2 small bites of fish in the middle with fried batter extended on both ends. There weren't many fries and they were lukewarm. I've been a regular for years so I will be back...just disappointed today. read more

Brookfields is my favorite restaurant in Roseville due it's outstanding food and service. I used to come here regularly when I lived in California. Since I have moved out of town, I am sure to visit Brookfields whenever I visit Sacramento. Today I dined at Brookfields with two friends. The host was very friendly and sat us at a booth by the window. Our server was excellent. I had a white mocha and the sweet potato pancakes. The sweet potato pancakes are a must-try... I have never tasted anything like them anywhere else. My other favorites here are the Cinnamon Roll french Toast, Egg's Benedict, french dip, and incredible vegetable sandwich- it is always hard to choose! The desserts are also awesome- delicious and huge portions. Definitely give Brookfields a try if you have the opportunity! read more

My wife and I have eaten here several times, never experienced the "bad" things other reviewers have. We have enjoyed our food and had excellent service, the food seems geared towards "home cooking" type meals and the price is reasonable. Let me just start by saying that when we lived in Rancho Cordova we went to the Brookefields there almost every weekend for 4 years. I LOVE the Rancho Brookefields! So imagine my disappointment with this place. I was so excited because I had an early morning Saturday appointment and thought "We'll head up early and go have breakfast at Brookefields because I miss it. Oh and those boysenberry scones!" Service was a bit slow and I was told they had the boysenberry scones. I ordered my usual "Incredible Artichoke Egg White Omelet." It was a disappointment, it was so bland. And after I was almost done with my omelet I still didnt have my scone so I asked and when she came back she said "Oh we dont have boysenberry scones." What a let down! I really hope no one bases their opinion of Brookefields on this location, go to the one in Rancho Cordova, its so much better! read more

Great family owned restaurant. Thought it was a chain from the outside, but the inside had much better feel. Food was delicious. I had the burger which was made with angus beef and i could taste the quality. Seasoned fries were perfect. My wife had steak and eggs. Potatoes were crisped and tasty, steak was medium and juicy and eggs were fresh. Our waitress was even super attentive. All in all a wonderful lunch experience with good prices. The boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat before watching a performance at roseville's civic theatre west. We stumbled across this place while driving aimlessly for a place to eat quickly. It is located next to in & out and sunsplash so decided why not since the parking lot was packed with cars. The interior was very cozy, there were a lot of families and elderly people dining next to us. They have a little bit of everything so there is plenty to choose from. I chose the cinnamon swirl french toast and it was quite pleasant, not saturated in sweetness or slobbered with butter. The server was very sweet and courteous and even the manager/owner(?) came by to greet us knowing it was our first time dining there. Sweet potato pancakes are seriously amazing! I didn't get a chance to actually review this restaurant. So, let me start by saying the service is GREAT! I only had the opportunity to try their breakfast. I had Incredible Artichoke Egg White Omelette, very tasty. I paired it with a glass of freshly squeezed OJ, fresh in deed. My friend (who lives in the area and loves this place), had the Sweet Potato pancakes, which I got a chance to try (amazing). I love sweet potato and trying new dishes, so you will understand how excited I was to hear and to actually enjoy the taste of two things I love. note- you can purchase the flour to take home, in case you like. Saw the good reviews and thought I'd check it out. Nothing fancy on the inside, it looked like a standard Denny's or Village Inn. I ordered their famous French Dip (Great) with Garlic Fries (Great) with a side of cheese sauce (Mournaise). My server was nice and the food came out fast (I mean very fast!). Overall a great experience, I'd come back! Ok, I came back for Breakfast. I have eaten at this place for 18 years. That is no exaggeration. First ate there in 1997. With few exceptions, this place has been a solid, if not awesome place to dine. The breakfasts are outstanding, the sausage and bacon are much higher quality then at most places. The French Dip is one of the best you will have anywhere, the cornbread, Sourdough Rolls, Mash Potatoes, the Chicken Tortilla Soup are all mainstays of this restaurant. I suggest that you have some of those when you visit. I have also had dinner and their steaks are as good as any place that is twice the cost - the Seafood (Fish and Chips, Fried Prawns) is excellent. Lastly, I'd be remiss if I did not mention the deserts. The baked cookie deal and the mud pie are also outstanding. I literally have eaten here 100 times and it has been 4 or 5 star every single time. read more

Don't Get The Lemon Chicken ! It is Rubber. This was my first visit tonight. I got the lemon chicken which was like rubber, it was not even edible. So I sent it back and they gave me fish which was really good. They were good about it, the service was good, environment was good, but my chicken was like rubber. Unfortunately, we left feeling left down. While the service was great, and with a smile, the food was bland. I ordered the Meat lovers omelette and it seemed to lack flavor. The gravy for the biscuits was super bland, as if it came out of a can and the iced peppermint white chocolate mocha was poorly made. The chocolate powder was clumping at the bottom of the glass. My wife chose not to finish that drink due to the poor make up of the drink. My wife had the Corned Beef Hash, and the green onions seemed a bad fit for the dish. And was full of coriander seeds which are not great to bite into. She barely ate a quarter of her meal and didn't even take the left overs due to disappointment. When I moved here 9 years ago we went to Brookfield's weekly. I haven't been there for the last 4 years until today. I was thinking about somewhere different for breakfast for my son and I. He wanted pancakes. I remember going here for one thing, a cholesterol filled french toast made with a cinnamon roll. But this time I ordered their special, Santa Fe Eggs Benedict. Contrary to what other people have said, I've actually found it to be nice and satisfying. The only major complaint I have is the extreme wait time that I experienced during both of my visits. I first had the tilapia, which was nice but a little bit greasy. The next time, I had the liver and onions, a surprisingly un-greasy meal. I would get either again. Looks like an older syle diner, but you can tell by the crowds of people that this is a popular spot. Even though we came here for breakfast, I got lunch. I got Sams melt, which is sliced ham with Thousand Island, pickles and cheese on rye bread. SOOO good! Im going to try to make something like this at home. I got this with sweet potato fries, that I wasnt aware were about $1 extra. Since this place is known for their scones, we ordered their specialty of the day, the coconut creme scone. You can get it warm or cold. We got it warm, which was actually pretty hot. So let it cool down a bit before you dig in. Super tasty, not too dry, with the right amount of sweetness and coconut. The prices are great, nice big parking lot. I think pretty much any waitress can help you out if you have a question or need anything. They always offered to keep my coffee full too! The menu had a variety of choices from healthy to traditional food. I will say the scones were my absolute favorite! I've been craving them ever since I left. I was actually blown away with the friendly service. That being said, our waiter's visits to our table were few and far between. It was brunch time, I understand that it was busy, but we didnt need a full 15 minutes for 2 people to decide what to eat, and we certainly did not enjoy waiting 20inutes for our check after we were done eating, especially since our waiter had walked by our table several times and even asked if we would like refills. I get pretty irritated when I have to finally ask for a check. It's called being observant, and it's the main part of a server's job. I ordered the chicken club and it was just ridiculously bland. My mom and her two friends (who are in their 70s and 80s) and I came to Brookfields Restaurant a couple Fridays ago for dinner, and this kept gnawing at me, so I finally decided to write a review as a "cautionary tale". When we first arrived, I thought it would be pleasant to sit outside and requested outdoor seating. The main patio was full, so we were shown to a completely empty one on the other side. After about 1-2 minutes of being there, we realized we couldn't handle the sounds from the nearby roadway, so we asked to be reseated inside. That's when things went all bad. Our waitress MADE SURE we could see her displeasure by her negative demeanor: Like having a disgusted look on her face, or slamming things down on the table, not being able to get her attention if we needed something, bringing 3 lemon wedges instead of 4, etc. It was like she was verklempt at being forced to wait on us losers! It got to the point that my mom's friend asked me to speak to the manager about it. It was horrible; I've never had to ask for a new waitress before. Additionally, the two friends were happy with their sandwiches (and they did look good!), my mom's gringo enchiladas were ok, but my seafood plate was inedible so I was comfortable with going without dinner rather than continue trying to stomach it down. The manager was very nice and offered me a complimentary bowl of clam chowder, so I could still have something to eat, but it tasted very sweet (!) and I felt better going without dinner than eating the soup either. I would try the sandwiches or breakfast there, but with all the options around town, I think I'll pass. read more

This review is somewhat over due as we have been here times previous for breakfast but we have never got around to trying their lunch menu... well I did today and once again my meal felt fit for a 70 year old with no taste buds.... I ordered a Chicken Club with no tomato and onion rings as my side.. the food came out fairly quick to be honest and it looked really good. I asked for a side of ranch for my onion rings which were not greasy at all. So I bite into the Chicken Club and what did I taste? Nothing... Bland Bland Bland everything... So I slap some ranch on it... STILL BLAND... I tasted an onion ring with the ranch.... ranch was no help as it was seriously watered down like no ranch that I've ever tasted... and I am a ranchaholic. The chicken in the sandwich was nicely grilled and tender, but was completely flavorless. The bacon was fine and just about the only thing my taste buds could recognize besides the onion rings. Now my partner had the Santa Fe skillet he liked it for the most part but the carnitas that were in the skillet were nothing but fat he ate around the meat and basically left a plate full of meat let. He was not satisfied at all. Needless to say we will just stick to the French Toast..... Our server Carly was very friendly tho! But please get rid of those horrible buns each of your lady servers has to wear I feel like I'm in the 1800's... My Recommendations: Get rid of the hideous buns each female seems to wear my guess as a dress code... I understand that almost all of your recipes are FAMILY or what ever but please maybe sit down and taste the food that's coming out of this location and see that maybe it really only seems to appeal to the elderly with no taste buds.. I really wanted to like my sandwich guys I really did but there was nothing TASTY about it... I'll just stick to the French Toast... PS maybe add a basil mayo or pesto mayo to the chicken club... it could really benefit from it.... read more

Good food, fabulous wait staff. Hubby enjoyed his fish and chips and declared them the best. I savored my salmon meal with white lemon rice and a green salad. They have a good choice selection for every palate. Located by a nearby water park, it sits back a bit on Taylor, so don't miss the sign by the Shell gas station. (Oh, if you are a senior, they will bring you a complimentary tapioca pudding with whipped cream upon request...a delicious finishing touch!) We are out of towners and are delighted we discovered this restaurant. Prices are reasonable for families and seniors. HIghly recommend! read more
