We recently moved to Dallas, and we're systematically trying new restaurants, especially in Deep Ellum where we live. Brooklyn Noodle was on our list next, so today, we tried it. If I could've given this restaurant zero stars, I would have. Everything about this place, from the atmosphere, the service (or lack thereof), the attitude of the staff, and the food was terrible. Had the food been great, or even good, I could have endured the rude staff, but the food was abysmal - the dumpling wrappers were too thick, and the meat inside was like mystery meat - no flavor at all. The only thing that was slightly edible was the charred edamame, ironically not what they "specialize" in! To top it off, it wasn't cheap, so we walked away feeling like we were fleeced! An influencer whose name is posted all around was the reason I got the next dumplings I ordered and I hate to say this but IMHO, the Korean dumplings were trash. The exterior of the dumplings were tough and the filling didn't taste like anything Korean I've had before and I eat a lot of Korean food. We ordered a bunch of other things and everyone was displeased with the food. Not sure if we came on a bad night, came too late at night or what, and I say this as I know there is a kiosk however my kinfolk that went in to order didn't know as it was her first time and she stood at the counter waiting for someone, as none of the employees engaged with her. We first found this place on the mimosa walk. So we had to stop to try a few dumplings with time this time. Our favorite was the Wagyu fried. The staff is friendly and gives great suggestions. Will definitely have to come back to try more especially the apple pie dumpling. read more

Came here in search of some Asian food in deep ellum. Pretty disappointed in the overall quality of the food but the service was really good. I ordered the Korean special which came with white rice, pickled onions, slaw, cucumber, crispy chicken with sauce, and two free dumplings. For $15 though, I felt like this food was not worth it. Rice was pretty dry and I had to add a lot of soy sauce to give it flavor. The presentation was good but I felt like the ratio of vegetable to rice was very off. The chicken had good flavor and was very crispy but after eating it I felt extremely heavy which usually means the oil wasn't changed when cooking. My friend ordered the firecracker chicken bowl and was charged an extra $1 for noodles. Unfortunately her noodles were both weirdly undercooked yet soggy and didn't have a ton of flavor. I will say that the customer service was very good and they checked up on us to make sure everything was okay. We both agreed that the dumplings they gave us on the side tho were really tasty and had a nice ginger meat flavor. I would recommend sticking to their speciality, the dumplings, rather than getting the rice and noodle bowls. The restaurant does have a lot of seating and has a clean interior. read more

First off, open late when a lot of Deep Ellum has shut down already. Huge plus. I loved so many things on the menu I just had to try lots. Its clean and well lit a nice little spot. I got a side of their waffle fries which were hot, salty, and divine. I chose the classic mix and match of pork, chicken/scallion, and waygu beef, pan seared and delicious. But the Mac and cheese fusion dumpling....oh my goodness out of this world. The chicken parm was honestly my least favorite and just didnt shine like the rest. The prices were definitely fair, so it's perfect if you're wanting something filling but also don't want to break the bank. The only downside was the service was a bit on the slow side, but they were also super busy with to-go orders and the server apologized multiple times for the delays. I was also a bit confused when we ordered because I initially thought we'd get 5 dumplings a piece, but I only received two. Definitely not a big deal, but they were tasty and I could've eaten more. Quick and tasty dumplings. I had the wagyu in spicy broth. The broth was good spicy and I added chili oil and a little soy to add some extra flavor. I recommend doing a combo and getting the lo mein side. The lo mein was a good portion, had veggies, and was cooked well. Adding some chili oil and/or soy adds to it too! The shop is pretty small but has an automat vibe (it wasn't working when we came though). Service is quick, so if you want a quick bite, this is a pretty good option. read more

Found this restaurant through one of the Dallas Influencer pages on IG. We were in the area and thought to stop by! Firstly, this is not an automated restaurant like the post made it seem (I was skeptical, but it's just disingenuous marketing). You order at a kiosk, and when your food is ready, you pick it up at the counter (someone will call your name). I believe if you have a pick up order, it will be in one of the lockers. Very casual establishment! The restaurant is small, but there are a handful of tables (large and small). Now back to the food! I didn't come here with high expectations because I knew the dumplings and bowls would not be "traditional". However, I will say that I appreciated the unique fusions the restaurant had on their take to dumplings! Solid, quick dumpling spot. Best I've ever had? Nope, but did it hit the spot when I was hungry? Sure did. It's not quite traditional, as they have sauces like ranch, and chicken parm dumplings, but I'm not complaining as even that was pretty good. This was a fun place. There are a couple of kiosk where you place your order and pay. You can get order notifications by watching the status on a screen in the dining area or you can get text alerts. Once the order is ready, you take your receipt and scan it, and a locked with your food will open. No human interaction needed! Despite putting in my own order, refilling my own drinks and picking up my own food from the locker- I was prompted to tip while I was paying. Additionally, I didn't see any options to pay cash at the kiosk, yet I was charged a surcharge for using a credit card. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I just didn't love it. They had really neat options for foods however, the food didn't taste freshly hand made like a lot of the other dumpling places. I ordered the traditional chicken lemongrass dumplings but it had corn in it! I've never seen corn in a dumpling and it's one of the few foods on my 'absolutely will not eat' list. I spit that sucker out and moved on to the sweet and sour chicken golden bites. The sauce was good, the chicken was decent. I wouldn't go in expecting authentic. Wine & Beer handed at purchase. My only concern is for dine-in utensils: We ordered soup dumplings but there was only regular tsp plastic cutlery offered. They advertise yummy dessert but it was not available when we visited which was a bummer The bites we got were packaged neatly in shareable portions. If you like talking to real people, they are still back there, but pretty busy. SERVICE: Well since I helped myself, I was pretty nice and friendly (Hee hee). Actually, as I was fumbling through the menu screens a nice lady came out and helped me. FOOD: I ordered the fried dumplings and chow mein. It took a long time to get my food to appear in the locker....When I finally got my food, I took it right across the street and started eating. The dumplings were hot and tasted really good. Sunday around 5pm this place was really quiet. I love that it is secluded off the main area of Deep Ellum. The dining area is cantina styled and you order via the kiosks and pick up in the lockers. I see the vision behind this cafe. Since everything is pretty much self-service, you get to focus on the food. I got a specialty dumplings combo meal and it came out to about $18. Delicious food. It's an interesting concept because you order at a kiosk and then when your order is ready they put it in a see through locker. You have to scan the QR code on your printed receipt or on your phone if you gave them your number in order for the locker to open and to retrieve your food. I don't like dumplings but this place is so much better! What caught my attention was their dessert options. The PB&J dumplings were so good. This is my second visit. I pre ordered using the website, which was very convenient. The first time, I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, the employees came out and walked me through the process. The TV monitor displays your order status. Once ready, you scan the QR code that gets sent via text, and your designated locker opens up with your food. Parking is relatively convenient. Typically, the Deep Ellum area is super hard to get a decent spot. The overall feel of the restaurant is that of a to-go place. Could have to do with the kiosk vs. human cashier.
