I was told of their Grand Opening they were having last Saturday (June 4th). I went on yelp, and read the reviews so decided to give it a try. The place was packed while I was there. Even so, we had a great time. The live music was nice as well. Sitting back and watching these two little kids (probably around 2 and 3) dance to the music was very entertaining. How could that not put a smile on your face. I think it's great that they have several different seating areas. They have the bar area close to the front door, another area in the back. But, through a side door you enter into a another room where the small live stage is at. They also have a room that can be rented out should you have clients and want to speak in private. Not a bad idea to meet clients like that. The place was very clean and the decor is very nicely done. The coffee was great and the service was good, even though it was extremely busy. PS, it looks like they take credit cards now, though I must confess that it was my wife who ordered as I was holding a table and enjoying the live entertainment (the singer and the dancing kids). read more

Initially I was impressed by Bru, but as time wore on it became more of a marriage of convenience seeing as I needed something of an "office" every day. THE GOOD: Bru is a lovely place to spend time in terms of aesthetics; Bru cool blues on the walls, warm wood counters, and the kind of casual cafe elegance that feels very Central Coast. The music is good--sometimes old, sometimes new--and never too loud. I found most of the staff to be considerate and speedy. They also have these delicious egg salad sammies in the fridge with an array of locally made sandwiches, pasta salads, and drinks. They also offer smoothies and breakfast burritos made in-house with all natural ingredients. THE BAD: Nearly every variety of tea is unpleasantly bitter, leaving a chemical-y aftertaste. No salads or non-bread alternatives, so those who aren't so big on carbs won't have anything available to eat. I've noticed that the staff is reluctant to ask disruptive customers to leave, and there have been more than a few customers who literally talk to themselves at their tables. It's distracting. THE BOTTOM LINE: This is the kind of place to visit with a friend for a drink and a chat. If you're looking to spend more than an hour at a coffeeshop to work, look elsewhere. read more

For what it's worth, I'm not the kind that rates Starbucks a 0 and everything else based on how their roasters did in competition last year. To me, Philz/Blue Bottle/Temple/Verve are 4/5 stars (depends on the attitude of the staff that day - Philz usually wins here). Bru uses Stumptown and is generally friendly, but they used to try harder. Food selection is sad. Prices are way up. On the plus side, there are a lot of power outlets and the internet is generally stable. Parking is good. read more

Really really good coffee! They have great hot coffee choices as well as cold brew on tap. This place has a great assortment of pastry choices, bagels, muffins, etc. if you want a quick morning breakfast or just something sweet. The coffee house also has a great space to meet up with friends, hang out, or attend one of the events they constantly have in the space. If you haven't been to Bru Coffeehouse I would def recommend you visit this place in downtown Atascadero!!! read more

Brú has the most delicious drinks. I like the hot cocoa without whipped cream. They make these beautiful designs in your drink. I love to go and relax here, read the New Times and look out the window. They also have a lovely back patio where you can bring your dog!! This is so nice, to have a dog-friendly place here in Atascadero. I am really enjoying my visits to this newest hot-spot! Oh, their sammys are pretty tasty and their cheese danish was so delicious! Can't eat too many of those though. It might go to my hips. :P read more

Love this place! Atascadero is seriously lacking in... well, any department as far as places to eat, hang out, get a good cup of joe... and this place has all those things. Their regular drip is really really good- beats Starbucks' any day. The place is just so adorable and they have awesome live music all the tiime, which is great! Really great coffee, one of the best mochas I've ever had. Also love the environment... Great for getting some work done or eating breakfast. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they ways seem under staffed and the staff that is there seems to be irritated by it. It took 15 mins for some to finally take our order and we didn't have anyone in front of us. It was bc both people were busy behind the counter getting previous customers orders together. That's a pretty darn long time. Also it was terribly hot inside and apparently the fans don't work :( besides that, awesome coffee. read more

A beautiful stylish little place, very clean & inviting.. My dirty Chai was excellent & served w the sweet touch of a little cookie. The barista was very friendly and knowledgable, answering our questions about the water temperatures n nerdy coffee stuff. What really impressed me was the over & beyond customer service I witnessed on my visit. An elderly lady had fell outside down the street and scratched her face pretty bad. When a Bru employee learned it was a regular on her way in for coffee, she kindly helped the woman walk in, applied band aids to her face for her, patiently helped her order her regular coffee & sandwich (which Bru kindly paid for as well) help seat her & watched over the woman during her entire visit. It was so nice to see how patient & caring this employee was, Bru Coffee that employee deserves recognition!! read more

Good coffee, staff hit or miss. Last time I was there, the girl asked me 2 times if I wanted it for here or to go. I said "here" both times. They served it to me to go. Then, when I told them I asked for "here", they stared at me blankly, like I was an inconvenience, and didn't offer to redo into a real cup...which is what I prefer. Not a big deal but it was the attitude and forgetfulness that bugged. The guys that work there seem to be friendlier than the ladies. Would love to give this store more than two stars, but the customer service just makes it very difficult to enjoy their food and drinks. The older man with the glasses constantly makes me feel unwelcome and as if my business to their store is inconvenient. Great coffee, and love the younger male employee. Nothing quite like a solid cup of BRÚ! Recently popped in for the second time and again, great service, delicious coffee, and plenty of seating. The first time I came, it was warmer so I sat outside with a friend in the back patio. This most recent time, saw inside. There is quirky and cozy coffee house art and seating, great to do some work or catch up with friends, colleagues, clients, or family. WiFi is available for customers and works well. I look forward to coming back again next time I'm in Atascadero! read more

My opinion of this place has improved over time. Although I still think their prices are high, I truly appreciate that they have gluten-free options such as quiche with hashbrown crust gluten free pastries, as well as spicy chai (instead of the sickeningly sweet stuff that most places serve). Well, the food is surprisingly good. I had the turkey club--generous portion and tasty. As for the coffee, I got a soy macchiato and the foam came out chunky. Kind of weird. But a good cup besides that. The sausage breakfast burrito is also quite tasty. read more

I just moved to Atascadero and as a coffee addict I was looking for a cool place to hang out on my computer and enjoy a latte. The coffee shop itself is cute and comfortable, lots of places to sit.
