The Brunswick Diner is your typical, standard issue American diner. All the basics are here. The service is attentive and friendly. My usual diner dish is liver and onions and it's always on point here. If you're from out of town and want to get a taste of the local flavor, just listen to the conversations. This isn't a tourist hot spot, but an old school diner drawing a local crowd. Each booth has those coin operated jukeboxes (and they actually work!). Attention: cash only. Stopped on mothers day for lunch, not busy inside. Ordered fried clams for $22 and regretted it taking the first bite. Clams were so heavily breaded and fried that you couldnt taste the clams. What an expensive disappointment. read more

I hate trashing restaurants amd if you look, i don't do it often. Is the diner cute, yes. Its tiny so getting by people sitting at the counter is darn near impossible. Food was okish but i wouldn't go back. There are other diners around that are better. We went for breakfast. Hubs got the chipped beef and gravy, son got waffles, sausage, and a side of scrambled eggs and i got the sausage omelette. I ordered a water that never came. Waitress also missed the scrambled eggs my son ordered so we got them on the fly. The sausages weren't flat topped but like in a fryer fried. My home fries were odd. I ordered them with sautéed onions but I can guarantee they never touched the potatoes but on the plate. Hubs liked his but not enough to return. It's cute, but the price wasn't worth it. $40+ for ok on breakfast is not ok. read more

My wife, and I had breakfast at the Miss Brunswick Diner today. We both had the Blueberry pancakes, which were purple with Blueberries, perfect! I had the usual scrambled eggs, and bacon with my pancakes. My wife had sausage with her pancakes. What can you say about eggs, bacon, and sausage, except they were cooked properly. The service was a bit slow, but good for one waitress serving the full to capacity crowd. The only thing they could improve on is the coffee, very weak. read more

While the food was good the service was terrible. The waitress spent her time socializing with what appeared to be the regulars. I finally followed their lead and got my own coffee refill. Be aware that this is another place that has opted for the ATM in the corner and accepts cash only at the register. While the breakfast was adequate we will not be returning. I was very disapointed this morning. I moved to Brunswick a few months ago and heard how great this diner was and this morning I decided to try it out. I walked in and sat up at the counter and the server at the counter was more intent on having a conversation with a family across from me rather than serving me. I decided to order a build yourself omelette... I wanted mushrooms, cheese, broccolli and potato on the omelette. This became very confusing for her as she kept pointing out that there was a "veggie" omelette that I could order and that the potato had to be on the side, although on the menu it stated you could get it inside of the omelette. So, I tried to explain to her that I simply didn't want tomatoes, green peppers or onions on my omelette, and just then with an attitude she says: "oh jesus".. That was my cue that this person would not be serving me... I calmly said never mind, this is too complicated and walked out... Headed to my favorite diner in Falmouth where they are always friendly which is Foreside Diner... Brunswick diner may have great food, but I will never know, and maybe it was just this one person I dealt with this morning, but she ruined it for me. read more

This isn't the greatest diner by means. It's the overall atmosphere that wins me over. I feel really home at diners, and I really appreciate diner/camp culture. This fits the bill perfectly for the Brunswick area. To go back an edit my first review, I decided to order something different than breakfast. A Shrimp roll (only mayo, and ketchup) with fries and coleslaw. This was absolutely delicious and really well priced. I recommend that people go with the fried seafood rather than the breakfast items. read more

This is a vintage diner. However, we received the distinct impression that we, as tourists, were not welcome here. The waitress was nice but it took a long time to get our food. The English muffin was burnt. The so-called omelette was simply layers of burnt eggs. I would not return. read more

This place was awesome! You have to stop in. It's not the prettiest place on the block. And I have to admit to turning my nose up at the food when it came out. It looked like it would lack any taste, quite frankly. But one bite and they won me over. I had the "Little Richard", Brunswick Diner's version of creamed chipped beef on toast. It was the best I've ever tasted. I wasn't even that hungry and still had to control my urge to lick the plate. The rest of the order was awesome too - sausage gravy with a spicy kick and melt-in-your-mouth buttermilk pancakes! One tip: don't look on the floor, it probably hasn't been cleaned since the joint opened in the late 30s. Just sit back and enjoy the food served by super friendly staff! read more

Poor service, cold food, dirty. We ordered standard breakfast meals that took over 35 minutes. At one point, the waitress came to our table to deliver the bill and realized that we hadn't received our food yet! After being served pancakes, there was no butter on the table. She returned with a huge bowl of butter so much later that the pancakes were cold. Bacon was terrible. Music boxes at the the table don't work but take your quarters. We left a 5% tip and honestly felt like that was way too much. read more

Great crusty diner atmosphere. One waitress handling all patrons (mix of regulars and tourists); considering that, service is cheerful and efficient - she refers to everyone as "Dahlin'." Chatty, but not intrusive. Good oldies playing on jukebox. Decent food, doesn't knock my socks off, but hey, it's eggs and toast in a diner -- sure beats fast food fare from a chain. Worth the slight detour on our trip home from Maine. Hope to return some day to test restaurant's and reviewers' claims about having the best lobster roll. read more

The two stars are solely for the food. Solid diner food, good portions. However. Be prepared to be told that whatever it is you want was "just ordered by that guy over there" or "just ran out." It doesn't matter if it's lunch on Tuesday, dinner on Friday or Sunday brunch. Further, the servers seem put out by having to actually serve, disappear into the back for large amounts of time, or let "that guy over there" know how mad you were when, yet again, they don't have what you want. If you don't mind terrible service or servers with an attitude, go enjoy a cup of chili. That is, of course, if you can actually get your hands on one. read more

We were all set to have our yearly breakfast at THIS diner. Due to medical issues (back problems) we were all set to wait for a booth. As it so happened a booth was getting ready to depart when a waitress said to the server "these two (people sitting at the counter) have the next booth and, pointing to another couple, these have the next after that". I'd like to note that there were NO counter spots available for two people on the same side of the diner (only 2 open period). In every other small diner if it is a weekend or busy the common "Diner Etiquette" is to wait for a booth or sit at the counter WITHOUT jumping to a booth. Also, each of the couples had been served beverages and had utensils in front of them indicating they were staying at the counter. We were not the only couple to leave within 2 minutes of hearing the news. Wow Miss Brunswick. Thank you for nothing. Why use this method? You were clearly losing potential customers left and right due to this tactic. The sad part is that we would have gladly waited IF those couples at the counter were subject to the same hospitality we were. read more

We stopped in after reading some reviews on Yelp and being only a few blocks away when we got hungry. This is really a diner with the old decor and even cracked vinyl seats in the booths. There are only 6 booths and a lunch counter. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We had the lobster roll. It was tasty with lots of claw and other chunky meat. The coffee came in a mug as expected from a diner. read more

Great experience! I travel for work a lot and usually wind up in a community for months until my job is completed. I found this little Gem right on the main street through the town of Brunswick. A little red diner, I'm so glad I stopped in because now I found a Great place for lunch, and/ or dinner, and breakfast is served all day! The service has been great, the staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. It's a cash only business, (but who doesn't carry cash?) In case you forgot your cash they have an ATM machine for your convenience. I ordered breakfast for lunch and it was perfect, eggs cooked to order with a thick slice of grilled ham steak and potatoes. I will be back, I recommend this place for a quick hot home cooked kinda meal, if you're looking for fancy dining keep on moving by, this is a local, friendly, little diner with good food and great service at a reasonable price. Just wanted to pop in and say how important this place is to me. I've been coming here for the past 15 years or so, and it was a staple for late nights and early mornings with my friends in highschool. I've lived out of the state for the past 6 years, and I still make sure to go by and get the James Dean. The girls who work there have seen me thru so much, and I truly cannot thank them enough. The endless coffee, the gravy and biscuits, the jukebox (even during the days when it didn't work). All I'm saying is go to this place. Take it from someone who grew up here and loves this more than any other breakfast you can find in a town that I hardly recognize when I come back now: order the James Dean, eggs over easy, and get your coffee. We went in for breakfast today and unfortunately had to leave before eating. I had heard great things about the food, but had not gotten to try the diner. We waited a bit for our to waitress to take our drink order and she never returned with drinks. We tried to flag her down but she was talking to other tables and then on the phone for awhile. When she did return she asked us what we would like to order and took the drink order again and told us she was sorry but the owner kept calling her. She returned with coffee and forgot our waters and our daughter's milk, so we soon had a hungry and thirsty toddler on our hands. My husband went to the counter and reminded her and she brought the milk over. We noticed that food kept coming out for the other waitress (older, teal shirt), and the other waitress came to our table to refill our coffees and ask if we needed anything while our server appeared to be sitting at a table talking to customers. After about 45 minutes I went to the counter and asked for crackers for our daughter, as we were still waiting for our food. When we hit the hour mark, we decided it would likely be easier to go home to our house and eat. We will perhaps try on a morning when we have more time to eat and don't have a hungry kid with us, but my review is based on the slow and inattentive service we received today. I think any breakfast joint would be prepared to turn tables quickly on a Saturday morning and it would seem that only half the staff at this diner was doing that today. read more

Came in for Sunday brunch last week, and was seated immediately. My family had our orders taken, and then the wait began. Keep in mind that the diner was not even completely full as I recount we sat over 30 minutes after ordering waiting for our food while watching multiple tables that came in after us get their food and some nearly finish their meals. Finally the waitress came over and explained that the kitchen didn't even have our orders. Normally I would be more forgiving (I work as a server) but no one even checked on us during our half hour wait for no food. No awareness displayed by staff whatsoever. Once this came to light there were no efforts to fix this mistake aside from "I'll put it in right now". The restaurant was not even full. We ended up just leaving and going somewhere else. I love this place! My brother and I have traveled here on vacation the past few years. We love going to Brunswick as our start off point for vacationing and sightseeing Maine. We have stopped here for breakfast the past three years and I am always impressed by the great service, small town atmosphere, and incredible food. We love the Crab-meat and Boursin Cheese Omelet that is offered on the breakfast menu! I am eager to try the Lobster Roll on the menu next time I travel here. Coffee is always fresh! The food was good, service was ok, I felt like I was being rushed when my order was taken, the waitress/cashier seemed overwhelmed with the breakfast crowd. My wife requested the patty melt, medium. When it arrived there was blood on the bread, the burger was not cooked medium. We notified our waitress, showed her the burger and she agreed, apologized removed the plate and took it back to the kitchen to get another burger or just cook that one. Apparently the cook or cooks were offended and standing by the opening between the kitchen and dining area made it a point to let us know that the burger was cooked properly and that they were not happy. Bad enough but they kept it up the whole time. Waitress asked if I wanted to go in the kitchen and talked to them, but my wife did not want a scene and honestly I didn't either. I just told the waitress we'd not be back. Also they nuked my wife's burger. It was greasy and tasteless. I ordered the turkey club and while not terrible, it arrived cold. We ordered fries and brown gravy. Gravy was canned. Not a good place to eat. Highly recommend you go somewhere else. Brunswick has many good places to go. Such a shame. Years ago we would go to this diner and had good food. Not sure why the decline. read more
