The food was excellent and our server Casey was amazing I love the fettuccine amazing service a place I would go to anytime.

Nastiest food ever. Not even sure how this place stays in business. There shrimp with pasta had ZERO flavor for 33 bucks. After I told the waiter he took it and boxed it up and then said did you still want it. I'm mean really what kind of question is that. The apple salad they had tasted like the salt bottle dumped over it. The only thing decent was a kids pizza. Good luck we won't ever be back. Just realized why it took us years to come back in the first place. It's funny how a manager responds the same day to my post about nasty food. When a manager took off the food from the bill last night. If they were so concerned about a problem they should have walked over to our table last night to discuss it but no such luck. They may have been busy putting out all the other complaints everyone around us was talking about the service or food or just how they won't be back. Pretty sad read more

This place is so so so so amazing I love the pastas and the services was some top tier right here. I love how the place is, it's has so so so much history. Friday night out with my wife. We arrived to the restaurant at 6 p.m. and 75% of the restaurant was empty. Hostess was clearing tables and took down my name. A crowd began to gather in the waiting area while 75% of the seating area remained empty. It seemed like there were not enough servers to accommodate the diners in the waiting area. It became obvious the restaurant was short staffed. It took 20 minutes for us to be seated. Once we were seated, 10 minutes passed and our server was still nowhere to be seen. 13 minutes later, our server appears but introduces himself to a party of five that had just been seated two tables away. Upon seeing this, we realized that if it took 33 minutes to not get served, it would have been a miracle if our food arrived an hour later or came out at all. We decided to leave and go to another restaurant. As we stood up and began walking away from our table, the nearby server noticed us leaving and told us that his shift had just started and he wasn't aware that we were there first. Apparently, no one told him that we had been seated there for close to 15 minutes and the server decided not to even inquire about which party had been there first. It was as simple as asking the hostess which party had been seated first. As I walked out, I expressed my disappointment to someone who appeared to be the manager but didn't receive an apology. At the very least, the manager could've asked what she could have done to make our experience better. Didn't happen. Considering that the restaurant is owned by Planet Hollywood, I should have expected poor service and no accountability. We won't ever be back. read more

No wonder this place is rated a low 3 stars! Horrible terrible service and experience. I called ahead of time to ask if they're accepting walk-ins and they told me yes. My family and I drove 1 hour to eat here and then we were told by the two peanut-brained hosts (2 short heavy-set middle aged women) that they're not doing walk-ins today... after I confronted I was told otherwise over the phone they then started twisting an explanation saying "well if reservations cancel then we are doing walkins and you can be seated..." what?! Told them you need to be specific when asked upon and not lie to customers then prance around with your twisted responses when you're caught. Horrible hosts. You guys are too old to be so immature and incapable of such a simple job. Never coming here again, highly discourage people to dine here. Buca di Morto would be a more appropriate name for this chain's Redondo Beach restaurant. Tony Soprano's crew would not be caught dead eating here! Yes, the food was edible (at best). The reception and service was understaffed and uncaring. The interior is old, tired, and ratty. It looks like this place has been run by the Addams family for the past 30 years. It is terribly mismanaged! We were given a gift card so the meal was a freebie for us. We went on a Sunday afternoon. We have still credit on our gift card. There is no way in hell we would go back to this place for another meal. We would not set foot in that restaurant ever again under any circumstance or inducement. The experience was that bad! I won't go into telling you about how they try to extort $3.50 from you for their unvalidated "valet parking" or the unpleasant, multi-tasking harpy that they have for a receptionist, busboy, waitress/manager! Do not take this review as a slam on the whole Buca di Beppo chain of restaurants. We were in Kissimmee, Florida a week earlier and ate at one of their new locations there. The receptionists were friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was very attentive and excellent for our dinner party of six. It was so good that we went back a few days later and got a huge takeout for a party that we were hosting for 20 people. In L A or Orange County find one of their newer locations and give it a try if you are looking for a good Italian family restaurant experience. This place is bad, old, and creepy! Got the specialty pasta Penne San Remo as takeout and it was excellent! Pasta was was perfectly cooked, as was the chicken and the dish was very flavourful and still piping hot when I got home. Dined at the location on May 29th - we arrived at 4pm - just as the restaurant was opening for dinner. Our server, Mikayla was great! If I owned a restaurant, I would expect my employees to be as attentive as she was. Mikayla suggested one of the new pasta dishes, Tortellini Bianca, advising us to add additional mushrooms. Fabulous choice! The "small" size was large enough for two hungry adults, with plenty leftover to take home. While enjoying our meal, I had the pleasure of meeting Walter, their new manager. Positives- Large portions, salad was very good and pizza was delicious. Food comes in large portions, but I thought the prices seemed a little high, even considering the serving size. On the night we went, it seemed everyone (except us) was celebrating a birthday. Guess it's more of a special occasion restaurant than a neighborhood Italian place. For 4 of us, we ordered a large Garlic Bread, large Caesar Salad, and large Baked Rigatoni. The Garlic Bread was good, nice crispy crust and roasted garlic. The Caesar Salad was OK but I thought it could have used more Parmesan cheese. The Baked Rigatoni was also OK, with a flavorful sauce and not too spicy. Seems like Buca is best for large groups and special occasions. read more

As I update my review I'm giving 5 stars. I was contacted by the management. It was really unexpected but I must say, I am very well pleased. Their way of following up was superb. Sven from the Division of Vice President asked me what really happened and that they apologize for any inconvenience that was caused by the incident. In line to that, they gave us a very good compensation. At that point I really thought that they are true to their customer's satisfaction. I am certainly relieved that at least I know that the management really cared opposed to what my first review states which is that "they dont care". Food was good for Los Angeles. We ordered baked ziti, chicken parmigiana, chicken Marsala, fettuccini Alfredo. Food was very tasty. Baked ziti was very good but needed more sauce. Chicken parmigiana was fantastic, fettuccini Alfredo delicious. Chicken Marsala was okay but the sauce was off, very strong taste wasn't Marsala though. If they improve that dish everything would have been perfect. We were disappointed with that. Looked more like a glazed sauce than a Marsala wine sauce. Bread was soft and fresh. Place needs updating and a little cleaner. Staff okay. Waitress forgot to bring out my side dish and I had to remind her well after our meal was served. read more

Once we were seated I asked if we come sit in a booth that was unoccupied but they wanted us to seat right next to the kitchen entrance once asked for the change the host told us we couldn't. We walked and as I let them know he rolled his eyes. I don't usually walk out and we eat here quite often. The carbonara is delicious.
