I agree this place used to be better but I still like it. Our server was amazing. The sangria and italian margaritas were superb and our food was delicious. My favorite is the lemon chicken. Tender chicken in this amazing lemon sauce. Next would be the frutti del mari pasta. A spicy seafood pasta loaded with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari. And I also like the cheese ravioli. My eldest daughter had asked if we could, as a family, go for dinner here. So, tonight we did! She suggested Buca Di Beppo, as one of her teachers had said it was his absolute favorite Italian.....and he's got an Italian name. Firstly, on arrival ALL the parking spaces behind the restaurant were designated for valet only. One could see this as an indication that the establishment was high end. Not so, because the moment we walked through the doors, it was one of the loudest and unpleasant first impressions I've had at a restaurant! No pleasant soft Italian music or warm and subtle décor. It was loud, gaudy and obnoxious, with kids running back and forth along the entrance pathway, accompanied by an annoying clapping going on from several areas inside the place. Although we did not wait long to be seated, and not long before we were attended to, it became apparent that the clapping was something one had to experience throughout the night. This "joyful" (and very loud) festivity was due to multiple tables being sang to, clapped to, but thankfully not danced to/for, in celebration of possibly 75% of the South Population who were there for their Birthdays, Anniversaries, deaths of unpleasant Mother-in-Laws, and the likes! BUT, this evening with my family was not to be spoiled, surely, since the food would make up for all the cheap and tacky surroundings and happening. Again, NO! By the fact that one can only order dishes that would feed a nation, in their words....."family style", the decision as to what to eat became a challenge for my family and I, instead of a pleasure. It might have been a little easier; if the menu was a tiny bit more adventurous, but by this time, I'd realized that we were now inside a generic cheap and (way too) cheerful American Italian mass market dump, calling itself a restaurant. The food? They brought us bread, which was stodgy...probably reheated and then left to get cold...along with a dish of Balsamic vinegar and olive oil. There was so much oil poured into the dish that my fingertips touched it, as I sank my pieces of bread deeper and deeper in search of the balsamic! The salad......well my eldest daughter and wife liked it. I didn't bother to try it.....the Newcastle Brown I was supping would have surely been spoiled by doing so! The pasta .....my daughters and wife liked too. I tried a little....the word bland comes to mind!!! So, two dishes of fair quality, but then to the mashed potato! I tell you now; my youngest could live on mashed potatoes if she was allowed too. She had one taste of theirs and left it well alone. I mentioned to her, that it's not a good sign, when the knob of butter laid on top of the potato hadn't even melted a fine layer, from the time the dish was delivered to the time they packed it up to take home!!!!! Cold! Maybe it was due to the lack of heat that the potato tasted powdery!!!!!!! They couldn't.....they wouldn't...surely not....anyone can make fresh mashed potatoes, can't they?? If they were made from real potatoes, they must have worked extra hard to make them taste this bad! The waiter? We maybe got lucky, having read other reviews, but our waiter was very good. He was one of the few things that were a positive during the evening! So, I'll not be visiting this place again. Horrible, horrible it was! All we have to do now, is persuade our three dogs that the food we brought home is edible.......they do call it a doggy bag.....now I know why! So, bottom line....never trust a teacher with an Italian name, when he recommends and Italian restaurant!!!!!!!!!! ;-) read more

The food is good. We spent $300 for a group of 8 for my sister's birthday. What really took down the rating for me was the parking. They blocked off 3 of the surrounding parking lots belonging to other businesses with a sign saying absolutely no bucca di bepo parking... When most of the businesses we're closed on that Sunday. They basically exploit you to pay for their valet. Fine... So we paid... And the guy told us where to park our own car !!! Wtf!? Spend $300 and extorted into paying for valet parking... I normally to the BDB in Santa Monica which is crowded; noisey; and parking is not so good. Going to this one in Redondo Beach was calm, quieter, traffic was great, a big difference between Westside and South Bay! The walk in wait was 20 minutes, so my husband and I went to the bar and we were greeted by Sweet Torrey (spelling?), with the red hair and cool ink; she is very upbeat, accommodating and she convinced us to sit in the bar area because it is the quietest. Torrey was on point with her customer service with a smile,she went above and beyond, even as the evening progressed with the Saturday night crowd. The recommended Greystone wine by Torrey was excellent; the white ricotta pizza was amazing, as was the cesar salad and rasberry drizzle cake! Valet parking guys were quick! 5 stars to Torrey and BDB. See ya soon! read more

Literally the worst Italian food I've ever had! Dry pasta that sticks together as if they never heard of olive oil not to mention it had no flavor to top it off and at $50 a plate they must be out their mind to think it's ok to push bad food out. The calamari and mozzarella sticks were dripping in grease I literally got food poisoning from this place! We've been here several times and the food has always been great. Start off with the Chopped Antipasto Salad and Fried Calamari appetizers...so good!!! Tried many dishes, but my wife really likes the Chicken Marsala. I like the Penne San Remo and Baked Rigatoni...want to try the Spicy Rigatoni, but the family doesn't like spicy. This is the 2nd time I've been to this location and I've had good experiences both times. On my most recent trip, my wife and I came and we got the caprese appetizer and shared a small stuffed shells. Both were excellent. We were seated at the kitchen table -- which is exactly as it sounds... a table that's basically in the kitchen. Our waiter was great and very attentive. I'm no foodie.. and definitely not a food snob, but I grew up with my mom's homemade Italian food (she grew up on the East coast) and I've always enjoyed the food here (including the other location I've been to). read more

The Buca Di Peppo I remember was absolutely delicious,authentically traditional Italian with actual music as well. Came with my family for a birthday dinner and honestly its nothing I would've imagined. The food was good but not great. There was no music where were seated even though we heard the music as we were leaving (completely faded out). Not to mention they stuck us where all the chairs were stacked up against the wall..felt like the side of restaurant that we were put in was almost like a warehouse feel and the other parts were properly managed. We had an aunt that was visiting from out of the country so we brought her there on her last day before her flight and we told her that Buca is our favorite restuarant. We were saddened that she was so disappointed with the food. I don't blame her because.... Alfredo Fettuccini...the sauce was so bland and noodles were dry Veggie and Pepperoni Pizza..why are the pizza's so soggy and the ingredients are over not even in a even mix on the pizza...and the can they put the pizza on top on..are they really suppose to be rusty? Garlic Bread,...so cold..I asked our waitress...and she even looked miffed that I even asked for a warm bread...umm...yes..I'm used to eating warm bread in other restuarants..this one is so cold and not even sliced equally... the calamari...That one we loved...I think that's the only one that was warm enough to eat... the lemon chicken...you won't go wrong with that order..it;s always yummy.. Baked..pasta...the pasta was so tough that made my jaw hurt on the first scoop..it didn't even taste anything at all and looked so old... Always a fan for family style eating. Went in here last Sunday for some lunch with mom and fiance. Ordered the pasta san remo and some sample of 4 pastas. Forgot the name. Anyway, bread service was prompt, bottle of wine hit my table in 4 minutes, the server was nice, food was piping hot and all was well! We left fat, happy and ready for a nap. Complete disappointment second time around! Friday, May 11 2018 I booked a party of 28 people at Buca di Beppo in Redondo Beach. I spoke to Rebecca Johnson in the Sales and Catering department. Due to the large number of guests we were required to have a set menu. Our dinner was to start at 7 pm in the banquet room. When I arrived promptly at 7 pm I found that some of my guests had arrived early and had already been seated at 2 tables in a SMALL corner of the restaurant. My guests had to ask for bread and water. By 7 pm appetizers had already been served and eaten. Therefore, by the time everyone else had arrived (on time) there were no more appetizers. I had to order more appetizers for the rest of my guests. My guests should have never been seated before 7. Due to the confined space, I had to request that my entire party be moved to the appropriate room the patio/banquet room. Once we were moved, I found myself moving people's plates and drinks from table to table. This was due to the fact that we had 1 waitress (who had other tables) and one food runner/busser. Due to the large party size, we should have had 2 waitresses and a food runner specifically designated to our party. One of my tables never received the Salmon entree. Throughout the evening, plates remained on the table longer then necessary. This dining experience at Buca di Beppo was a complete disappointment. We will not be a returning customer. One disappointment is enough. I did reach out to Rebecca Johnson to let her know of my disappointment. The response I received from her was....."Sorry to hear about your experience at one of our locations". My review of Buca di Beppo is, The food is good but the atmosphere and management are not. If the food weren't so tasty, I would probably be rating this location 1 star. The service was TERRIBLE. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and didn't really wait long to be seated. Once we were seated our food order was placed rather quickly. We received 2 out of 3 of our meals in a timely manner, but received our pizza extremely late. So late that we asked our server to just box it up to go because we had already been waiting that long. We had to repeatedly ask her for water and condiments and she would forget or not come back to bring us what we would request. She wouldn't really come check on our table at all. It was not a pleasant experience. We will definitely be making the drive out to The Santa Monica now on for better service. read more

I am absolutely saddened that this location has gone so downhill over the years! We've came here since I was a little girl (early 2000s) and it was delicious! Recent came for a birthday celebration and the food was awful. The worst culprit was the meatballs. The meat smelled rancid and was very crumbly. We asked the waiters and manager if the meat was changed, they refused to answer. The rigatoni was ok and the pizza was below average. I suspect they are using cheap ingredients and cheating their customers out of a decent meal. Either they switch back to their quality ingredients like before or HIRE NEW COOKS! If they keep up this quality they will close very soon. The love that was once tasted in every bite is now filled with cheap meat and soggy pasta. Disappointed! First time here. What a disappointment! My wife and I ordered the Caprese salad as an appetizer, that was good. We also oredered the Lasagna and Spaghetti marinara with Meatballs. The Lasagna was very bland and boring. The lasagna noodles were over cooked. This is perfect food for a retirement center. I swear to God, Stoffer's frozen lasagna is better. The Spaghetti was cooked perfect, but the marinara sauce was poor at best. It was chunky, with very little actua marinara l sauce. Very light amount of sauce. I'm going to Doctor up the large amount of leftovers with a jared marina sauce, ridiculous... the meatballs, however, were very good. The mozzarella garlic bead was underwealming, low quality? Had a reservation and still had to wait 30 minures to be seated, and only after asking how much longer will it be? "We are checking on your table".... ???? To make sure its still there? Or??? The restaurant was pretty empty so I'm not sure exactly what they were checking on. Finally get seated, no bread for the table, even after we asked. Then it took over an hour to get our food once we ordered. And unfortuntely the food wasn't even worth the wait. The chicken dishes were near burnt and the salad was less than appealing. The fettuccine was good, I'll give them that. I had to order and pay for bread just to get bread brought to the table. Never again. Sad to have to take Buca off the list of places to go.
