Front of house staff consisted of the rudest group of humans I've ever come across. Not just one or two, having a bad day... a full group of people giving nasty looks, walking away in the middle of taking orders, and being incredibly unhelpful overall. I used to work downtown and would get Bucharest pretty regularly, was excited to take someone who had never been... waited for an hour for food (issues with printer lost a group of orders) and still was treated so poorly. Went here for the first time today and had no idea what to expect. I always assumed with a name like Bucharest Grill that they served Romanian food. Having been to Romania several times, I was thinking root vegetables, pork and plum based moonshine. Well, I was waaaay off and pleasantly surprised. They should probably change the name to Beirut Grill since this was some pretty solid middle eastern food. They make the best lamb shawarma I've ever had! It was amazing! It was like LaShish and Chipotle had a love child. I'll probably skip the fries next time. I am SO happy to see Bucharest opened a location near Little Caesar's Arena! I used to go to the old Bucharest in that area before they closed up shop prior to sporting events and concerts in Detroit And was so bummed when I heard they were closing up shop. This new location is even better than the old one. Everything is brand new, and it is in a prime location. There is a paid parking lot next store that is great for event parking, and the walk is just a few blocks to Comerica Park and Little Caesar's Arena. Aside from the awesome location, the food is amazing! They keep it simple and the prices are perfect. I LOVE the chicken shawarma. My boyfriend has the Bucharest shawarma and he loved it as well. Something about the garlic sauce puts it over the top! We also love their grape leaves. We tried the. Chicken bites appetizer today and it was a good sized portion of deliciously seasoned chicken breast over romaine lettuce. I highly recommend giving this spot a try! read more

My first time checking out Bucharest Grill and I was not disappointed. This location is a little newer and a great addition to the area as it's not too far from LCA, The Fillmore, and Fox so makes a great place for a quick bite before a show. They have their own enclosed full parking lot. Bucharest is a fast casual dining spot with a relatively small but delicious menu. Order at the window when you come in and they bring your food to you. We came on a Sunday and it was very quiet, only a few other diners there. However, I'm sure it gets busy on weekends or when more events are going on. They offer chicken, beef, and vegetarian shawarmas as well as a Bucharest special served with grilled chicken, all the traditional toppings, and fries right on the sandwich. The shawarmas are thick and hearty packed with meat and toppings similar to a burrito and aren't thin like traditional shawarmas. I had the chicken shawarma and it was very tasty, with tender juicy meat, nice tasting garlic sauce, very fresh pickles and the size of the sandwich was huge! I couldn't finish it and had to bring home the rest for later since it was so large. They also offer shawarma sticks, offered in chicken, beef and quesadilla varieties. My friend had the shawarma stick and she liked it. The shawarma sticks are longer but are much skinnier/thinner than the shawarmas. You can order fries as a side for $2.95 with a choice of curly or shoestring. I highly recommend the curly fries! They were my favorite part, very tasty and well-seasoned. Again the fries are also a huge portion and can definitely be split with a friend. Bucharest also offers several salad options, burgers, quesadilla and wraps. I wish they offered a lemon chicken rice or lentil soup as a side like most Mediterranean restaurants often do. They also offer some tasty unique soda options from Motor City Soda. I really liked the Hockey Town Black Cherry but the Grand River Orange Cream was my fave (tasted like a creamsicle). There is plenty of seating and it's a relatively large space. Plenty of tables and chairs as well as spacious booths that could easily seat six or more. There is also a full bar serving up beer and mixed cocktails and they offer a happy hour too. They have plenty of TV monitors if you're looking for a place to watch a game too and there were some Lions fans watching when we were there. Overall enjoyed my experience here. Love the food as usual. BUT today's adventure was almost comical. One never knows how the service will be. Went to Jefferson location around 7:30 pm ish. Tried to call in order, no answer. No problem - we just went there. Two clerks working, there was one customer lady, who was kind of standing in front of clerk #1 who was so intrigued with her phone! She would not look up! She had to see the customers standing there ! Clerk #2 became available-- I walked up and the lady standing by clerk 1 said "I was next". I then walked over to clerk 1 and asked her if she is working? When she took her eyes off her phone she said, "yes"! 3.5 stars. First time at a Bucharest Grill. Not a far walk from Campus Martius, but it's the only restaurant in this vicinity. I imagined it would be more of a hole in the wall, but beautiful interior with a full blown bar. The parking lot next door was closed and I wasn't going to pay $7 for parking in the other lot (no one else did either), so it's street parking in the front. There were spots, but I could see it being packed. GREAT VALUE for the dollar which I wasn't expecting. $6 for your choice of beef / chicken schwarma. The bucharest special schwarma also has chicken. Opted for the beef ($6) + curly fries ($3). The curly fries are big enough to share among 3-4 people. DON'T get your own order is my recommendation. The beef schwarma wrap was HUGE. Plenty of meat. Definitely stuffed after wards. I would ask for a TAD bit more veggies. The only thing that makes it shy of 4 stars is that I found the beef very salty. Less salt and it would be perfect. These are the real deal in shawarmas, packed with meat and loaded with flavor. Our group got the lamb,chicken and beef shawarmas, plus a chicken quesadilla. The sandwiches are hefty and will definitely fill you up! We got a side of hummus and garlic dip with pita bread because, well - you just can't get enough of a good thing, and the garlic dip and hummus are top notch. There is plenty of seating and it doesn't feel crowded, ever. The service is a bit slow and more attention could be paid to making sure the floor is swept regularly and surfaces wiped often; not that it was unclean, just not tidy. But we will definitely be back as this is a solid choice in the entertainment district. read more

Good fair priced chicken shawarma but I would rather not judge as much as just explain, this sandwich is unique in the following ways: flavor with a extreme umami profile-in which I believe their secret ingredient most certainly to be msg. So yeah that's basically the profile, even the salad dressing is interestingly salty. Any hoo I'm not knocking it, it is very tasty, although I am unsure of the nutritional facts. Like the other locations, you order at the counter and get a number and they bring the food to your table. The sandwiches are huge so be really hungry or plan on splitting one with a friend (or make a poor decision and order one for yourself and then unwrap it and eat the good stuff because you can't finish it). Group dinner with party of 7. We were looking for a quick bite on the way to airport. Food options were good considering 1 vegetarian and 1 vegan were in the party as well. The drink choices were also just what we were looking for. A wide enough selection of on tap and bottled beers and chilled whiskey shots ready to drink! I was the vegan in the group and went with the plant based burger. Could have been cooked a tad more but that is my preference and I should have told them when I ordered. After leaving downtown for a concert, my friend and I wanted to order food. We decided to try this location Bucharest Grill just b/c it was open later, and a convenient location close to my friend's house. I used to frequent the Bucharest Grill on Jefferson Ave., and stopped ordering food from there b/c the Shawarma's always tasted burned. So I explained this to my friend, and she stated that she had ordered a Chicken Shawarma Salad from this location, and it was good. So I was pumped up to order my usual: Chicken Shawarma; no pickles. Once I was home, I unwrapped the foil, and opened up the Shawarma, to first see pickles on my sandwich, that I asked not to put on the sandwich and that was clearly listed on my receipt as asking for no pickles. After I removed the pickles and bit into the sandwich, I tasted the awful burned/overly charbroiled taste again from the chicken on sandwich. I ended up taking a couple of more bites, but just threw the entire sandwich out. I will say I liked the convenience of this location restaurant, plus the prompt customer service, but other than that, the sandwich was not good. read more

I ordered one from their Columbia location on 09/24/22 and it was very fatty. I will not order that menu item again. My second time at this location and I am already looking forward to the next! Stopped ag Bucharest with some friends before a weekday Tiger's game. Slightly busier than the last visit, but service was still prompt and friendly. I want this place to be successful but also feel like it's a secret I want to keep! Great spot for happy hour with cheap but tasty cocktails. We like to sit at the bar for service. The food is the bomb.com! Affordable and delicious, there's always plenty to split. We split a Chicken Shawarma and some Hummus while another enjoyed one of the most delicious salads which is piled high with grilled chicken. I could probably eat here every day! This location needs some improvement . It's a nice building, brightly lit with plenty of seating however the food was subpar, compared to other locations. I think this happens when you have a good thing and expand too quickly.. Quality control is lost: The falafel was not cooked krispy, the lamb was WAY over seasoned ( VERY STRONG NOTES.. cinnamon-cardamom--& salt!!). Not palatable to me....but plenty of meat! There was nothing else in the sandwich, but we didn't ask what it came with. Maybe it's just served with onions? I think the staff might have a hard time hearing us order because they got our order wrong. The music is fun but you have to yell, so our order was incomplete. I made no complaints because I understand that can happen. We were eating in so II reordered & I watched people come and go with their orders. After waiting another 15 minutes they hadn't even made it. I had paid for it or I would have canceled my order. Fattoush was mehh... nothing more than lettuce/tomatoes/cucumbers/onions with a few pieces of fried pita, maybe I'm just spoiled, but it was disappointing, too. I will say that the ingredients were fresh... The lettuce was good and crispy and it wasn't iceberg. I was a fan of Bucharest grill when they opened their first location. But now... If I could have given them no star I would. The restaurant had no one in it and sat and waited 30 minutes and still had no food. Patrons who ordered after us received their food and we still had not. Ask the register girl what was going on. There were at least 5 employees texting on their phone instead of preparing food. Very sad. I was informed that curly fries take 10 minutes to cook. We came by here on our way to the wings game and I really wish I could have given more stars because the food was so good. I came here with a group of 8 and we all ordered similar meals. Beef stick, chicken bites, fried cheese. The food was so good and the bar had a happy hour $9 for a beer and a double cocktail. My friends made fun of me for getting my shawarma 'plain' until they tried it my way...and realized removing the rest of the noise from that pita zeroes in on the flavor of the seasoned grilled chicken complimented by saltiness of the feta and tangy (not overpowering) garlic sauce.
