Buckeye's has been here for a really long time and they are still booming with guests. Really beautiful area to have a nice dinner. Some pro tips: the valet is complimentary, make a reservation on yelp ahead of time, dress fancy. It's a cozy little steak house with really great food. We had the famous chicken wings (amazing) and the shrimp and calamari appetizers along with the beef brisket with mashed potatoes for the main course then ended the dinner with there s'mores pie and toffee cake - also highly recommend cause it's so moist and is deliciously paired with the vanilla bean ice cream. The brisket was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes was also amazing. Overall the food quality was top notch and our server and hosts was really sweet. We dinned here as we do often and our friend in our party ordered the brisket, he was so exited to try. Unfortunately he contracted food poisoning and has been in bed sick all night after our visit. We called to let them know and the person fielding our call said that it was very unfortunate and that she would pass it on, she sounded very indifferent. We were very turned off and upset. Buckeye is a favourite for our family. The interior is traditional and warm, the food is great and the servers have always provided great service. We have celebrated New Years, had a graduation party, hosted a large family brunch, and had many amazing dinners at Buckeye. They smoke all of their own meats there and I highly recommend the wings and chicken salad. I'd you're looking for a special spot for date night, to celebrate a milestone or just have a great meal - this is the spot for you. It really doesn't matter what I have to say about this place it will always be packed. It's a local joint where everyone knows each other and yes the bar has regular patrons. I've eaten here for years, although not on a regular basis. It does have a fun atmosphere. I called before showing up and I was told we would be able to be seated. We chose to wait for about 35 minutes once we got there to get a booth in the bar. Our server, 1005 JC, was friendly and attentive even though the place was packed and they were close to closing. I ordered the wings and the bingo oysters. Neither dish knocked my socks off. One person got the ribs and said they were ok. One person got the wedge salad and said it was good. Had been coming for years and did consistent takeout throughout the lockdown. Up until recently has our takeout dinner been extremely underwhelming. Cobb salad barely had any ingredients as listed in the menu, and for $23 it's difficult to find the value in a container full of lettuce. Same with the iceberg wedge-lots of lettuce and a sliver of avocado and a sprinkle of pancetta. I asked for blue cheese dressing on side but they put blue cheese all over (which wasn't listed on menu) and dressing only on side. After a mediocre takeout experience it was wonderful to return to the Buckeye and see it doing what it does best: great service, festive atmosphere and reliable good food and drink. Having the liver - always my favorite here - was like the pandemic didn't happen. And the Caesar salad which we shared may have been the best I've ever had. It was so good to go for a nice dinner with friends and everybody loved their meals. In the past 3 years restaurant prices are sky high and quality has decreased, everywhere. Not here! Our server was very efficient and friendly. My ribeye was phenomenal, and the Yukon gold mashed potatoes were the best mashers I've ever had. So good! Hubby loved the ribs, friends loved the brisket and the skirt steak. The ambiance is perfectly elegant roadhouse. I highly recommend this place and I'm grateful I live within driving distance to enjoy it more. read more

Buckeye Roadhouse is an old-fashioned, well entrenched staple in Mill Valley that has old world charm and attitude to go with it. It has a very loyal following from a clientele that has been going there for a VERY long time. I was happy with experience until dinner came. I ordered the pork chop medium rare per the bartenders suggestion. We had not had lunch so was starving and it smelled amazing even though it was blackened on top from being over charred. First four bites we real tough and chewy and required a sip of my drink to swallow. Even though my stomach was urging me to power through it, I was very much looking for a good meal (plus eating here is not cheap) so I sent it back because it appeared to me that it was overcooked. A few minutes later the plate came back and the pork chop was filleted down the middle and the bartender said "the chef wanted for me to send you back to the kitchen to show you this" and put the plate in front of me. I was a little surprised by the presentation of how it was returned and very much offended by the combative nature of the kitchen. To his defense, the pork chop was not over cooked. In fact two-thirds of it was raw in the middle. Too hungry to make an issue about it I shrugged and ate it. It had the texture of seared ahi and lacked flavor but at this point I didn't have the energy to fight it. My guess when he seared both sides he left it on the open flame too long and then overcompensated by cooking it less time for the remainder of the grilling. Nonetheless, it was a HUGE disappointment. In retrospect I should have sent it back a second time but who knows what the chef with the big ego would have done. I had high hopes for this place but have a bad taste in my mouth after such a disappointing experience. My partner enjoyed his meal so his review of the place would be more favorable. read more

Going back to mid week dinning out routine with my buddies. This place is highly recommend by them and the shop delivered. We finished work early and just showed up without reservation. The staff is quick to accommodate us. COVID time so it was outdoor seating. A bit cold but I did glue myself to the heater. I brought along a bottle of Caymas and corkage was reasonable $25. After sharing some figure foods, I went for the "brick" chicken and my buddies had the ribeyes. The chicken is amazing. The boneless meat is heavily and heavenly favored with tender meat and crispy skin. I'm not a big eater and the portion is generous but I actually finished the whole plate. Good stuff! Service is very good. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the lady who waited my table. She make the dinner very enjoyable. Will definitely come back soon. read more

If you like eating plain oil, this is the place for you. If not, I would not recommend. Sole was bland and lacking flavor. Green beans were undercooked yet swimming in liquid. The sauce just added another layer of bland. The sauteed side vegetables were cooked enough, but they should have drained the oil on this as well because it did not taste good. We asked for bread and they gave us a hollowed out crust with almost no soft bread inside. Had they offered some balsamic vinegar or something with some sweetness or acidity, the meal might have been redeemed, but they did not. The service and ambiance inside were great and totally earned their stars. However if you venture outside to the patio, the seats are not comfortable and too low for the table. It also sounds like you're eating off the side of a highway, which you are--but I would rather not be reminded of that. read more

My family went to the Buckeye for dinner last night for my mother-in-law's birthday. This is a big event and requires excellent service to get satisfaction all around. The food was delicious as usual, but what was really special was the service we received. We had a server named Ricardo, who was particularly sweet and attentive, and made us feel really well cared for, despite the fact that we had quite a few particular requests, and 2 rambunctious children with pressing food needs. It's nice when you go out for a fancy dinner to be treated with an extra level of attention, and we really felt we got that last night. read more

I Used to come here when I was a kid back in the day 25+ years ago. Hadn't been in since 2015 came in on Monday, and it was just as good as ever. Got the oysters bingo, calamari & shrimp, wedge, and brisket! All were delicious and well worth the price. The mashed potatoes are probably the best ive ever had anywhere! The server was great can't remember her name...?The outdoor area in the back is great with lots of heaters but next time I hope I can sit inside upstairs. read more
