Bullion is probably my favorite modern French restaurant out there. Complimentary bread: It looks homemade, but I'm personally not a fan. A lot of the breads are the traditional style and quite firm. Plus it is served cold. Sunchoke soup: Sunchokes are the roots from the base of a sunflower (aka Jerusalem artichoke). The taste profile is like a better potato. Personally I like making sunchoke soup with the skin (so it is chunky), but bullion does it classically by straining the soup so you get just the liquid. The soup is rich, but not overly decadent. Cod: The cod is pan fried with olive oil and probably some butter. There are capers, confited tomatoes, and tiny croutons. I expected the dish to be average, but was really blown away on the amount of thought in the dish. I appreciated the texturally contrasts of the tiny fried croutons in conjunction with the capers. Mille feuille: Not your traditional Mille feuille where the pastry layers are wafer thin. I felt that really this dish highlights how bullion is breaking the traditional mold. Overall, bullion is pricey, but worth the extra treat. read more

We went to Bulllion for our dual birthday celebration. The food and service was spectacular. We started at the gorgeous bar with cocktails then moved to the dining area where we had a view of the beautiful lights downtown. I got foie grad torchon, beet salad, and scallops. My husband got rillette, aspargus salad and the filet. Our waiter was knowledgeable and did a fantastic job of pacing the course so we were neither rushed nor waiting. All of our food was superb! Ate here on a recent trip and it was an amazing meal. The four of us shared two appetizers, Rillette de Saumon and Ravioli D'escargots. Both were really good, and I was glad there was some bread for the extra sauce on the ravioli. My entree was Pithiviers De Faisan. It was a lot of food, and I only ate half, sending the other half home with my brother-in-law. Also on the plate was a serving of pheasant that was cooked perfectly, juicy meat topped with crispy skin. We also shared two desserts. Toffee aux Dates et Pecan had my favorite flavor of the two, but the Vacherin was prettier to look at and so many different textures. Parts of it were too tart for my taste, but I loved the meringues dotting the plate. Service was outstanding and I'm so glad I had a chance to eat here. read more

We impressed with Bullion French style restaurant. First time in August, server recommended a special summer salad dish that so refreshing (forgot its name). Server was nice and sharing with us his heritage and culture and so do we. I ordered stuffed squid my wife had duck. Squid & duck was dried and salty, no good! We tried again on Wednesday. Second time, young server had pleasant smile while offered us special dishes... my wife had Brazzino, I had chicken. The food were great! We happy with food and server. Last night, our third time, we invited a couple, who so impressed and we all had great time with appetizers, brazzino and chicken plates. But our server was no pleasant at all - no smile . We took time to enjoy appetizer, server constantly checked on us for empty plates and seemed pushing us to finish the appetizer so that he can take the plates away. He evenly stood at our table and said there is one piece of bread left why don't you finish it up. I took last piece for my friend and told server "all yours" (what I meant was he can take the plate away); he said "that is not mine". I looked around to see how busy they were. There are some empty tables. Our rsvp were at 6:45pm we left at 8:30pm (no waiting clients). Food and ambiance were good but that server was so rude and did not want to serve minority clients. read more

Every time I dine at a good French restaurant, all my preconceived notions about the experience -- that it will be overpriced, pretentious, etc. -- evaporate, and I am reminded why French cuisine is considered the gold standard for culinary excellence. Bullion is a contemporary French brasserie from Bruno Davaillon, the only Michelin-starred chef in Dallas. The interior is posh and luxurious, and we were lucky enough to land a reservation near sundown when the entire room is bathed in a soft golden glow. The wine list, naturally, was of nearly biblical length and featured options ranging from moderately affordable to "mortgage-the-house" tiers. Our server was a jolly fellow who did a great job diffusing the potentially stuffy atmosphere with humor and charm. We started with Fois Gras Torchon, a healthy slab of fatty liver served with a spongy brioche topped with fruity marmalade and chives. The sweet-and-tart punch of the jam cut nicely through the creamy richness of the fois gras, which came with a perfect sear. Next was the Ravioli D'escargots, five round pockets swimming in bowl of buttery garlic-herb sauce with some crispy onions for crunch. If you've never had snail before, this will serve as a nice gateway drug as the pieces are bite-sized and showcase the umami flavor and chewy texture without overdoing it. The Champignons, a finely chopped spread of mushrooms, truffle, and goat cheese, was as phenomenal as it sounds when smeared over crusty sliced toast. My main dish, the Canard a L'orange, two thick strips of delectable duck breast served with orange marmalade and endive, was likewise incredible. The meat was perfectly cooked to medium-rare, topped with first a layer of tasty fat and then the crispy, salty skin. As before, the chef masterfully pairs the decadence of the fatty duck with the bitterness and acidity of the sides. By this point, we had more or less ascended to food heaven, but we had to try dessert. The chocolate-and-passionfruit souffle and waiter-endorsed Mille Feuille, a crispy wafer-like preparation with caramel glue, both brought one of the most exceptional meals I can remember to a close. I came here after one of my bosses recommended it to me. I was one of their first customers for the day (I just couldn't wait!). Even though they open at 4, you can only order drinks and small bites. Their dinner does not start until 5:30. I first ordered Gougéres Au Gruyère (cheese puff). It came pretty hot. There is no filling inside, but you can taste the cheese from the dough. It reminded me of thin cheese bread I ate as a kid, except these are obviously much more fancy. For the entree, I had their halibut with chorizo, lime, and coconut sauce. Though it may cost quite a bit, it was well done. The halibut is thick and has a crispy layer despite there being no skin. The coconut sauce was refreshing, and the chorizo pieces on top of the halibut gave the overall plate a savory texture. The cooked onions and greens were essential to the plate and to the overall taste. Lastly, I am a sucker for a fancy dessert, so I had their Tarte au Citron (lemon chiboust, citrus sorbet, candied buddah hand). It took a while for it to come out, but the whipping cream on the chilboust was pretty warm and the chilboust itself was really cold, so I guess they prepared the dessert on the spot as well. Overall, the servers were very friendly, and the restaurant itself (both interior and exterior) were amazingly well-decorated. As the place got busier, more servers appeared, so there was always a server somewhere close by. I definitely would go here again when I'm back in town! read more

Bullion was on my top 5 list to try so when the girls wanted an evening out, reservations were made a week in advance. Looking at the minimal reviews found for this place, I thought it'll be a casual night but my was this probably the best rest yet I've visited in Dallas. Upon pulling up to valet, you knew this would be a Dallas hot spot, and it was. Beautiful ambience, service was prompt and food was delicious. One of my favorite Dallas spots. If you would have asked me 15 minutes after seating, I would have given Bullion zero stars. Our night started very rocky with a very bland waitress that didn't bother to tell us the specials and dropped our cheese plate off with out telling us what the cheeses were. As well as being very absent. My husband had made the reservation notating my birthday and my severe anaphylaxis allergy. Neither were mentioned, which made us nervous knowing that a French restaurant often uses the item I am allergic too. But, we called the GM over and told her our concerns. She was gracious and horrified at how we have been treated. Immediately, she rectified the situation... she changed us to a more private table and an amazing server, Will. Will rescued our night and gave us amazing service. We were told the specials that the first server neglected to do and we order two of them. The food was amazing. High quality, well seasoned and delicious. We had gone to the French Room two weeks prior, so we were judging the service on that, which isn't fair. Will took amazing care, but it's not the polish of The French Room. But the food is the same quality. We were very impressed that our car was waiting for us at the valet stand and we were met at the door with an umbrella. That is service. We will be back! read more

Wow these guys knocked it out of the park! I truly respect businesses who are taking this pandemic seriously and prioritizing the safety of their employees and patrons. They were able to pivot seamlessly from fine dining to a delivery based operation. We ordered their wagyu burger kit, a chocolate cake, coffee, and a selection of wines. It arrived as promised and the packaging was beautiful. I really felt like I was unwrapping a present. A great restaurant! Very high quality food by some talented chefs for sure. One thing to know is that their lunch menu excludes a lot of the good stuff that you find on the dinner menu, but dinner will set you back maybe around $150 for two people vs lunch about $100 (without drinks). The sunchoke soup with truffle butter was heavenly and very decadent, I loved it. For lunch, their entrees were decent, including the Quenelle Lyonnaise Sauce Américaine (white fish dumpling, lobster sauce) and Steak Frites. The things that are restricted to only the dinner menu are the Escargot Ravioli, Poached Egg, Pomme Puree, various other entrees/apps, and the good desserts which are the Mille Feuille and Spiced Chocolate Soufflé. Even though it is more expensive, I would recommend the dinner service for their expanded menu. I wish they would include some of these for lunch as well; hopefully maybe in the future. read more

Absolutely loved this gem in the heart of downtown. Beautiful decor. Takes you back in time. The service was spectacular. Our server, Melina, was very personable, attentive, and fun. We had an event at 8:00, so we needed to be out by 7:00. We told her this and she immediately made it her job to get our orders and bring them out promptly. The food was out of this world. Highly suggest the lamb and the filet. The cheese board was also to die for. I was celebrating an anniversary with my boyfriend, so they brought us free champagne and dessert. The manager, Mr. Ashley, stopped by multiple times to check in on us and chat. He was very friendly and explained why their service was so amazing. When I heard about this place opening, I could not wait to give it a try! First, the architecture is visually stunning and the interior impresses just as much - absolutely beautifully decorated. The service is impeccable, but approachable at the same time. The food was really quite tasty. My friend and I shared the gruyere cheese puffs and the salade vert and I enjoyed the super flavorful and perfectly seasoned orange duck for my dinner. I guess after reading about the Michelin Chef Davaillon bringing his culinary experience to Dallas, we were to excited about dining at Bullion. The decor is beautiful with the natural light and sexy bar lounge area. We sat in the dining area and started out with a nice glass of wine. Sometimes when you dine at new places I like to ask for suggestions from the server. So our server suggested the Ravioli escargot and ocean trout. The escargot was nothing like I had anticipated. The noodle was hard around the edges and the center was oozing green stuff that tasted nothing like escargot. The sauce surrounding it was flavorful. Then we tried the ocean trout which was amazing. So for my entree I had the Halibut which arrived less than warm. My friend had the Lamb. Because they had to re-fire my dish, it was inconvenient for me and my friend to eat separately rather than together. I requested to speak to a manager at this point rather than a manager coming to our table because of the lack luster service. We were served water once and had to repeat a few times to ask whoever we could find to ask for water refills during the evening. Once the manager saw the disappointment on our faces and apologized for the inconveniences she made a conscious effort to turn the bad experience into a better one. My entree arrived correctly in a timely manner the second time around and was delicious. I do recommend the Halibut and my friend really enjoyed the Lamb. We both enjoyed the Tres de Leche for dessert. I believe I will try this restaurant again in the future. read more

I came here with one our vendors to celebrate both of our birthdays. What a beautiful restaurant! She had the cod (which the server recommend) and I had the Beef Filet. It was cooked to perfection (I asked for it medium rare) and the onions and mashed potatoes were amazing. I didn't care for the grilled lettuce, it was too salty for my liking. It was sweet of them to bring me a birthday cake ice cream for dessert. Very yummy! From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the hostess and several cocktail waiters asked me if I'd like a drink or water. My husband took me here for my 28th birthday and it did no disappoint! I wish we would have taken more pictures because the restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. The decor is impeccable and the service was outstanding. The gruyere cheese puffs melted in our mouth and the escargot ravioli was simply delicious! My husband ordered the ribeye, roasted onion, sunchoke gratin and bone marrow. I had a few bites from his plate and it was so tasty!! I ordered the cod, tomato confit, lemon and caper dish which was equally amazing! The waiter paired our meals with a crisp wine that coupled very well. What a great place that appears to be a hidden gem! It is tucked away in an office building in downtown Dallas. I was in town for work and a business acquaintance asked me to join him for a drink. The person he was meeting works in this building and said it is amazing, they were right. We sat at the bar, very comfortable seating and top notch service. The drink menu is creative, but we went for Tito Dirty Martini's with blue cheese stuffed olives (the server said they're $2 more, but we use the funkiest blue cheese and overstuff them, yes they do!). The martini is stirred, not shaken. The glassware is vintage. We received an amuse bouche which to me is a small pre-bite, but here it is a little taste of a specialty cocktail served in a cute cordial glass . . . on this night it was a bourbon sour (very sweet for my taste). After a few drinks we needed to have a little something to eat and enjoyed the gruyere cheese puffs which were so light and airy with the ravioli d'escargots in an amazing garlic cream sauce (use the cheese puffs to sop up the yummy sauce). The menu prices are fair. If I am in Dallas again I will go back, there were many more items I would like to try. Enjoy! read more

I had the opportunity to try this last week on recommendation from bartender at the Hyatt Ball. Beautiful building and restaurant. Service some of the best. Signature drink exquisite. Managers personable and friendly. Prices quite reasonable. The hardest thing is finding it. I had to resort to OnStar because Record Street is difficult to find but valet service avoided parking issues. If you want to try one of the best new places in Dallas, you should go here. One of the best dinner-at-the-bar experiences I've had in a while. Bartenders are great, they could sling cocktails and knew the menu very well. Bullion now has my favorite drink in town. They do a very very good Gibson martini and use home made pickled red onions. My wife and I had just come from a event that had light appetizers so we weren't particularly hungry. So we just each ordered an entree. I had the Pan Roasted Chicken. They say the skill of a chef is how well they can cook a chicken breast. Well, they rocked it at Bullion that night. Skin was crispy and the meat was juicy and the sauce was velvety and essence of chicken and wine. My wife had the duck, which was fantastic as well. Perfect balance of sweetness and savory.
