Stopped in to cool down after walking around in the heat a while. Great relief from the heat and as a break. People are super nice here. Did not try any food, unfortunately. But the drink was pretty stiff.
Quaint restaurant in Little Italy serving delicious fresh pasta to order. I enjoyed the spicy vodka tortellini and added a burrata. The cold cheese brought the steaming pasta to the perfect temperature and cooled the spice. The cacio e pepe was also delicious. Prices were very fair and service was quick.
Stopped by to check out the outdoor patio and the vibes but stayed for a meal. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I got the spaghetti Al ragu which was very saucy and flavorful. I would've liked for the ratio of pasta to sauce to be a bit more balanced as I was left with so much sauce afterwards. The white sangria was very refreshing and a nice addition on the warm Saturday afternoon. I enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back.
Updated: May 20,2026; It was a while I had not visited the restaurant and to my surprise, the service, the atmosphere and food were great. I had a few glasses of wine with a friend of mine and had salmon and a chicken parm and dessert.The manager Betul, was so caring in making our stay for dinner exceptional. To top it off she decided to give us dessert on the house. Betul professionalism and caring and friendliness made this evening very special. I like to thank Betul and her staff for making our dinner exceptional. The owner of the restaurant should be very happy with Betul, professionalism and caring for their customers. That is why I have changed rating to a 5-star from a 4. As a foodie I travel a lot and like to give my ratings of food, service, etc for other's to have an idea of the restaurants.

Such an elegant meal! I've walked past Buona Notte on Mulberry St. in NYC's Little Italy several times before finally stopping in for dinner. The name translates as, "Good Night." What could be better?! . The dark blue awning and large front windows are so cute and inviting. The inside of the restaurant was filled with mirrors--and sparkly decorations-- in advance of Valentine's Days. There was also a nice selection of music playing. Mostly pop tunes. I was immediately welcomed by staff. They were so nice. The menu offers many pizza, pasta and entree options. It's not a massive menu, but there's plenty to choose from. I picked Chicken Marsala. It was great. Pasta normally comes with the entree, but I mentioned that I'm diabetic. The server, Gabby, was wonderful. I asked if I could have cooked vegetables instead. Some restaurants hate substitutions, but Gabby was happy to help. I'm a decent cook. I can actually make the items I ordered, but my compliments to the chef who did a fantastic job with the meal. I walked in at 5:30pm. That turned out to be happy hour. The cocktails are normally $18, but they ran a special on Elderflower Spritzers which were $10 during happy hour. Wow. My drink special was delicious. After spending the day with family, I dined alone. The nice thing about Buona Notte is that the staff and decor made me feel so comfortable. As I prepared to leave, I texted a photo of my dinner to some relatives. They were so impressed. I'm pretty sure the next time I come back, I won't be alone. My relatives can't wait to try Buona Notte themselves. By the way, despite its name, the restaurant also serves lunch.
FOOD: I had the lasagna and let me tell you, that square of baked, fresh, handmade pasta and melted cheeses did not disappoint! Absolutely loved it! We also had some bread and some rice balls and prosciutto as appetizers. Pretty much everything on the menu was great! SERVICE: Host was super friendly and accommodating. We just walked in off the street and he moved a table or two around and made a place for us in the corner against the wall, which was perfect actually. After that, my water was never empty and I was never bothered by questions when my mouth was full - so pretty good service in my book! AMBIANCE: This spot is right on Mulberry St in Little Italy. It's very "cute". One of those places you could feel ok about dressing up, about having reservations, or just walking in off street in whatever you're wearing. As long as what you're wearing is appropriate of course - please don't come in (anywhere), in clothes you'd just worn to bed the night before (pajamas). It's on of many little restaurants in Little Italy. I highly suggest you try this one, then go try all the others, then come back and try this one again, then the others again, then figure out which is you're favorite and stick to that one.
The food is so authentic and delicious. Ordered the fettuccine alfredo and it did not disappoint. Had shrimp added and it completed the meal. My husband ordered the lasagna and he said it was one of the best he has had. If you are in Little Italy don't miss out.

Not at Buona Notte. We actually thought it looked quite might and it didn't look too busy, so we asked if we could take a look. We liked what we saw, but decided to walk up and down the street to see if we found any other place that looked nice. We walked all the way to the end and the aggressive greeters at each restaurant was quite tiresome, but fun to see what they would say and how they sell their restaurants. In the end, of course, we chose Buona Notte because we were greeted so nicely and treated well even after walking away. We were seated on the outdoor patio area in the back of the restaurant. Away from the street and the busy sidewalks of Little Italy. It felt so much more relaxed under their display of umbrellas overhead. Our waiter was awesome. Personable and willing to give suggestions based on what we were ordering. We felt his suggestions were all on point when the food arrived.
Solid choice for a good meal in Little Italy. We started with the Fennel Salad and the Rice Balls which were a treat (warm cheese oozing out when we cut into them) For our entrees we had the Linguini with Clams, Chicken Francese and Chicken Parm - not a miss! Friendly staff and we were there during the holidays when they had Christmas music playing which was a nice touch.
They were attentive and great servers, always checking on us Loved the Sangria and they have gluten free pasta I had it with clam garlic butter sauce and thought it was just right I would highly recommend them
Good restaurant with decent ambiance, and service sizes are pretty huge. I almost always finish my plate but I had leftovers after forcing myself to eat more. Just be aware they really mark up the wine but that's to be expected. Food is also pretty authentic, from someone who's had pasta in Italy. Not a bad choice especially to see little Italy at night from a window seat.
Not our normal spot in LI, but decidedly to try something different for a change and we're not disappointed . Food , drink and service were all great . Will return
We took a stroll down Little Italy and stumbled upon a cute little place to eat. We were greeted at the door by a kind gentleman and quickly shown to our table. The inside reminded me of my grandma's kitchen, which brought back so many memories--it had such a warm, cozy feel. The food was good, and the sesame bread was especially a highlight--warm, fresh, and so delightful. Our server seemed like he might've had somewhere else to be, but I'm hoping he was just having an off day. I will add that they charge a credit card fee and automatically include a 20% gratuity regardless of party size. As a party of two, I wasn't thrilled about the added gratuity--especially since our service wasn't very attentive. read more

NOTE: I went here in August of 2021! I just got a Yelp account and I NEED to post a review for this place. We had a reservation, but there was a guy outside who ushered us in anyways, promising great food and ambiance. The place was very pretty. I got a pepperoni pizza with basil, and that was THE BEST pizza I've ever had. Not even joking. It sparked my love for pepperoni/basil pizza and I have been chasing that high ever since. However, it was five years ago, so I have no idea what it is like now. Definitely worth a try though, and when I go back to NYC I will 100% be stopping by! I stopped into Buona Notte with a friend looking for a place to have some dessert and coffee. We ordered three desserts to share--tiramisu, cheesecake, and crème brulie--but unfortunately none of them stood out. They were just okay and on the smaller side. I also ordered a cappuccino, which was mediocre at best. The service, however, was great and very attentive. Place had average noise volume. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5. Decent spot if you're in the area, but the desserts didn't impress enough to make it a go-to. read more

My group of 3 had reservations for 7 pm on a Tuesday night at Buona Notte! We arrived half an hour early and they granted our request to sit in the back room which was empty the entire time we were dining. The umbrella part of the restaurant seen in pictures is sadly closed during the cold. For drinks, we ordered the caffetini and two venetians, all of which were quite strong, especially the caffetini. In fact, the caffetini was arguably so strong that I thought it was not enjoyable. However, the venetian was tasty with notes of peach and grapefruit hiding the taste of vodka. The food sadly took ~40 minutes to come out, which was definitely longer than I would have liked. However, we did have bread and olive oil to entertain us! We ordered the eggplant parmigiana, spicy vodka tortellini, and rigatoni alla carbonara. The portion sizes were smaller than we anticipated, but they actually turned out to be perfect and we were full at the end of our meal! The eggplant parm was great and the tortellini had a nice kick to it and was especially tasty with the bread. I thought my rigatoni was a bit bland especially if not eaten with the meat, and I also expected the egg yolk to be sitting on top instead of incorporated in a sauce. Overall, it was a satisfactory dinner and I'm glad I had the chance to try it, but I don't think I'll return. read more

I definitely needed a relaxing girls' night out and that's exactly what I got when I came to Buona Notte. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and a Margarita pizza on gluten-free crust. This is the first time I've eaten pizza in nine years. I didn't realize how much I missed pizza and melted mozzarella cheese. The pizza was amazing. I also tried the kale caesar salad, which I shared with my sister but she ate the croutons. I loved the food, and we were able to stay at our table until closing at 11:00. The restaurant was beautiful and the ambiance was relaxing. The food was expensive, but it was really worth it. read more

If you are going here to use this pulse coupon, don't do it. https://pulsd.com/new-york/promotions/buona-notte-dinner-nyc You might think you'll be taxed on the amount you spend, but really you are taxed on the value that you would've spent without the coupon, in which case, it wasn't worth it, in my opinion. I've had better food for lower costs and while it was a nice experience, the food options with the coupon were pretty average. There were only two appetizers that fit the budget of the coupon: the bread with cheese or the bread with tomato's essentially. When we asked if we can get a different appetizer and just pay the different our of pocket they said we had to get an appetizer that fit the budget of the coupon and then we can order another appetizer on top of that, which was disappointing. When you look up the choices of wines, the bottles are anywhere from $5-15 elsewhere, so the value of the menu isn't accurate. The food was pretty average. The service was good. The place was small and cute. If I go back, I definitely will not be using a coupon and will just be getting 2 entres instead. The black ravioli was good but nothing special. The veal wasn't very good and it was too oily in my opinion, given that I've never tried veal before, it was nice to try, but I don't think I'll be ordering that again. The dessert menu couldn't be found anywhere, so I made sure to take a picture of it at the restaurant and include it in this post. The tiramisu was pretty good! More cream that's there was biscuit, but I liked how light it was after a heavy meal. read more

Such a fiery hidden gem located in Little Italy The Alfredo fettuccine was one of the most delicious pastas I've had in a long time ! The creamy goodness in that dish are what dreams are made of Imagine sitting in their stunning backyard patio while eating a yummy bowl of fresh pasta you are guaranteed to have a Buona Notte here The patio is covered in bright beautiful umbrellas super cute and the waiter was sooo friendly read more
Buona Notte was a fantastic experience! A true little Italy staple with some of the kindest staff I have ever met, it has a beautiful outdoor patio in the back! We ate here for dinner one evening and I chose the carbonara. The result was amazing and definitely authentic. The worst experiences are when places add cream or substitute bacon in the place of the guanciale or panchetta. But not here, as Buona Notte had some of the best carbonara that I've had in the city so far. The only reason I'd dock them one star (because the food was AMAZING) is because the service wasn't the best. We had to ask multiple times for our waiter to bring our check and instead just handed him the card. When he brought the paid check, he had added a 20% tip (plus CC fee). We always tip 20% regardless but it seemed a bit deceptive. If we hadn't checked the receipt closely, most people would have added in another tip (especially tourists) without noticing it had already been added in. read more

Stopped in for lunch. They have a lunch special for $14.99 with a couple of options (pizza, chicken parm, penne alla vodka). They have an adorable outdoor garden in the back that's away from the hustle and bustle of Mulberry street. The margarita pizza I got was just average; thin crust and personal sized. Service was also average. They add in an 18% tip automatically so be on the lookout for that! read more

Food was super salty I got the rigatonni alla carbonara which was good but extremely salty. The portion was super small and super expensive for the nothing. I was still hungry afterwards. My pasta was about $24 without tax or tip. Not to mention they automatically add the tip to your check so my total was $31 and they added $7. There was a person that also goes up to you when you check out their menu outside their restaurant. Ngl he kinda pressured me and my friends to go in. I'm the end the waitress kept coming up to me and my friends after we finished our food and it felt like she was tryna get us to leave right away like we couldn't even sit and talk for a while. It wasn't even busy at all. It felt like the waitress was judging us hardcore. I felt uncomfortable eating the whole time. The little lamp on the table was cute and the whole store was very ambient. Since Italy is closed for now, we decided to check out Little Italy not far from home ;) A friend of mine was in Buona Notte, and quite impressed, so we went there as well. It was around 5:30Pm on a Thursday evening, perfect day. The restaurant was not crowded so we had a pick of the table. Started with drinks, my personal recommendation to espresso martini :) The food was amazing, the service was superb, and the ambiance was perfect! I love Little Italy like this: calm and serene, not overcrazed with tourists. And I loved Buona Notte even more, especially the back sitting with beautiful umbrella decor, Italian music and delicious food. Will be coming soon for more... read more

We stopped by this place as the guy working here was so great at calling people in lol. Since we already had dinner reservation elsewhere, we decided to just stop for a drink. They have a really nice backyard for outdoor tables and it was so relaxing. I felt like they were short of staffs so you might need to be patient while ordering. Nice atmosphere since you can get away a little bit from Little Italy, even tho you're still on the street. read more

Pretty good-ish considering the myriad of Italian restaurants along Mulberry Street. I do not believe I dined here in the past but had the opportunity to try it last night amidst the San Gennaro Festival. Without mentioning the other restaurants' names, there are only 2 very good and authentic Italian restaurants in Little Italy (also confirmed by a Buona Notte employee) and this isn't one of them, but my friend and I ended up enjoying our dinner and time spent here. Since the San Gennaro Feast was in full swing, there were 3 seating options: sidewalk, indoor or backyard patio. We sat on the sidewalk but not on the actual sectioned off street area. Our table was more quiet and right in front of the restaurant entrance. It was perfect and enabled us to eat and people watch at the same time. We were well taken care of by the manager and started things off with their house Rose which was very good and served in the largest wine glass I've ever held in my hand. We just had to order the Fried Calamari which was actually quite good. A bowl full of the ringlet squid served with lemon wedges and a Marinara sauce that had a spicy kick to it due to the crushed red pepper sprinkled on top. It also wasn't oily like others I've eaten elsewhere. For mains, pasta was the way to go for us. I settled on a Capellini Primavera while my friend chose the Penne Arrabiata. I really liked my pasta- loaded with a variety of veggies and then doused with lots of grated cheese. My friend enjoyed her pasta as well. We ended with the Tiramisu which was very delicious. I ate the entire portion. We enjoyed everything from start to finish at Buona Notte and being immersed in the festivities added to the overall charm. It's not the best Italian food I've had (that honor goes to my parents' cooking since I'm Italian) unlike many other Italian restaurants, but definitely satisfying. read more
