After hiking the hills at Smarts Christmas Tree Farm for that perfect tree and making a stop at Rainbow Orchard for our Apple Cider donut and fresh pressed Apple cider we were starving. Did a quick search on Yelp for a local burger place and saw the pics! Had to try a stuffed burger. Let me say they do not disappoint! Stuffed Jalapeño and Western. Onion rings were amazing as well. On our way back from Tahoe browsing through Yelp I saw this place was on our way home to the Central Valley. I'm a fan of burgers and this is one of the greatest burger places I've ate at. The employees were very nice and were very quick to bringing out the food. I got the western burger with curly fries and it had a phenomenal taste and was very filling. Finding out they also had shakes I had to try it. The shake was good as well and really helped the burger and fries digest. I really recommend this place, feels like home. read more

We were on our way to South Lake Tahoe and got a hankerin' for something good. Our hopes weren't high as things were getting less and less populated, and we thought we'd have to get closer to our destination to find anything...when I noticed this little spot pop up on Yelp. I put in "vegetarian restaurants," and while this joint is definitely a meaty burger barn, they have a delish garden burger and luscious fries. This place is awesome. I take the whole family up there at least once a month. The staff is so friendly and warm, and even though the place is small inside, the outdoor patio is actually pretty big. There is a convenient table in the corner which is where we always sit because my mom is disabled, and I have a four year old. It's perfect because she can sit in a chair and my four year old in a high chair while we have booth seating. I think it's really great that you can see your food being cooked, and you know who is handling your food. No server running into the back of the restaurant, and you know your food was cooked just to order. Nothing sitting in a warmer. No fries under a heat lamp. Just simple, made to order burgers, sandwiches, shakes and fries. They even carry Beyond Burgers, which made my vegetarian daughter very happy, especially when she asked if the grill could be cleaned of hamburger and bacon grease before they cooked it. The cook was more than happy to do that for her, oh and to double fry her french fries so they were EXTRA crispy. It's a small building so small staff to patron ratio, but the food is definitely worth the wait time. read more

Though it's only a few places open during this time as well as limited staff, Burger Barn did their best to be great. I know it's hard being a restaurant since all the new rules and policies. With that said, the food wasn't great. In fact, it's due to not being plated and in a Togo box. The shakes are good though :) What makes BB good is the staff. Food was pretty good, and the staff was friendly. I ordered the stuffed burger, and though it was good, I only found one mushroom and two jalapeños. So not sure where the stuffing went. I also don't think they add tomatoes to their burgers. None of our burgers came with tomatoes. The "large" fries were small. Glad I got the large and not the small. So just a few issues. But, the owner apologized, explained how I'd hit a huge late rush of people, (I could see that), and offered me a drink on the house, then came outside in the cold and sat and chatted with me. It's family owned and run, with everything made to order. Far and away better than fast food. I've decided to change my review of this establishment. As an elite Yelp appointed group member, I take very seriously any review I perform. I respect each business I review and attempt to be honest and forthright in every way. My last review of Burger Barn i explained how fantastic the food is, and how superior the service was. But I criticized their cleanliness and uncomfortable environment I experienced. However, I have been back twice, and today ordered take out. The owners have indeed taken steps to clean things up a bit, and to be fair, my last review was during and after a mandatory Pge power outage, so the Burger Barn we just doing their best to keep things running during a power on/off situation. So now I want to explain how fantastic this place is and how incredible the food is! You can't miss this place here in Pollock Pines! You will see everyday the place is doing fantastic business, and that's do to the management and the servers/chefs doing a superior job with everything! So, changing my initial review is important to me, as I try my best to be fair and uncompromising. Great job Burger Barn! Super good. I got the Mushroom Swiss burger with waffle fries and onion rings. They were all sooo tasty best onion rings I've had. Stopped by here on the way home from a road trip. Sucks I live far because I would love to eat here often! I would've loved to give a 5 Star review but the service wasn't too good. We ate outside because we had a dog, and no one came to take our order for a while, and no one ever came to check up on us. Had to go inside for refills ourselves. I ordered the Whac A Mole with fries, Took a long time to get the food, I understand it's a famous spot and COVID doesn't help the situation... I expected a good juicy burger full of flavor, but first it was cold and the tiny patty was overcooked so extremely dry and the bun didn't taste fresh. I Looove burgers but after 2 bites I left it in the place...a least the seasoned fries were good. Maybe bc it was rush hour during the weekend and I got a bad one. Someone should check if the food is up to their standard before to send it to the customer so no burnt tiny patty , quality control is key.
