Vegetarian review: Grilled cheese was pretty good. Kind of a standard grilled cheese, and you get two round sandwiches. The bun is crispy and soft and a little sweet. Cheese is plenty. The fries had a great texture and weee skated perfectly. They even had a hint of black pepper, which I appreciated. I got the burger as suggested, with everything. I normally hate ketchup, but here it worked. Loved the cook on the beef, seasoned perfectly, and the toppings were great. This was our second visit to Burger She Wrote -and it was just as good as the first. We came for dinner around 6 pm and this place gets busy. We lucked out and were able to get a table as a family was leaving. There are only about 4 tables outside and some seats inside. We also lucked out on a parking space right on the street in front of the restaurant. The menu is simple and streamlined - my family and I ordered the single smash and double smash burgers. Super thin and crispy patty, made to order. The fries are a must order - we ordered 3 orders of fries for 4 of us but should have ordered 4 because we woofed them down and everyone loved them so much. No soda machine here, which is boss. We got bottled waters and Mexican coke. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our food - then they brought it out to us when it was ready. All in all, great place to get a burger. read more

We ordered the Oklahoma double burger, which has grilled onions. It was ordinary. They use small Hawaiian bread rolls, so the smashed patty hangs over the bun. The edges of the burger were crispy, but overall it lacked the beef flavor that I would expect from a burger. The storefront is a hole-in-the-wall, with a few seats at an indoor window counter and a few mismatched tables and chairs on the sidewalk. The staff is very friendly. read more

It's hard to find a decent smash burger in SoCal, especially ones that try to stick with the tradition of the Dust Bowl classic Oklahoma Fried Onion burger. We came by on a Friday evening and it wasn't too busy. Only another party ahead of us at this quick service establishment. There is a small window bar that has around 5 seats, the rest are outdoor. We ordered 2 Oklahoma cheeseburgers and 1 of their hot dogs. The cheeseburgers held true to their title of being a smash burger, the edges were crispy with that signature lacy edge. However, considering it is supposed to be Oklahoma-style, there was nearly not enough onions in the burger. It almost felt like there wasn't any onions at all. The true appeal and flavor of the OK fried onion burger isn't the onions and its juices seeping into the beef when smashed. I just felt like I didn't get that experience with this burger. As a smash burger, it's solid though! The King's Hawaiian buns were also quite nice considering most smash burgers prefer to use Martin's. The fries were good and crispy. The hot dog was interesting as it was served cut in half and laid flat in between the burger buns. Nothing to write home about though. If I'm looking for a good smash burger and I'm in the area, I'll stop by. I think next time I'll just go with their standard smash or ask for more onions. read more

One of the best smash burgers that I've had in Los Angeles. It's better than a lot of the other competitors nearby. The menu is small, as well as the interior. There are only about 5 counter seats inside total and no standing room. However the flavors are truly great, the meat is seasoned perfectly, it just has a great flavor to it. There is no dedicated parking so your only option will be street parking. There are only three options on the menu, and we got all of them. They have the Smash Burger, in a single or double, and the Oklahoma Burger, which is basically the same thing as the smash but with onions. They also have a Grilled Cheese, as well as French Fries. Both the burgers tasted great, I enjoyed the one with the onions, just because it added an additional taste profile. I wish the fries were less crispy, but I still enjoyed them. Overall a great casual burger spot that I would recommend to anyone. The smash style burger is huge in Los Angeles and this is definitely one of the best places to get one. read more

Don't expect to be able to find a seat during peak hours but I park in the neighborhood and chow down in my car when the bench if full (or you can make friends and ask if you can join a party already seated and I haven not been told no). Disappointed! We've been wanting to try this place for a long time.. maybe the other location is better? There is NO seating! 4 chairs inside, and a park bench outside to sit. These seats filled fast, and if you were lucky to get a spot.. you have other customers staring at you till you're done! Our TWO burgers took 45 mins to make! We were super upset because the cashier told us 20-25 mins. If it were longer, we would've drove to the other location (this is how bad we wanted to try it!!) I love a smashburger, but this was the smashiest smashburger I've ever had. For me, it bordered on being gross. The perimeter of the cheeseburger that had gotten flattened out spread way past the limits of the bun, and it was so thin that it was crispy and dried out. The middle part of the burger was good, and the bun was good, the pickles were fresh and crisp, the chopped onion was plentiful. But there was barely a dribble of mayo on the bottom and no detectable mustard, so it may be a good idea to order one of their sauces. The fries were overdone for my taste, a little too brown, but at the same time they were limp and soggy which was weird. I ate about a third of them and threw the rest away. The best part was the ranch dressing. I also tried their house special sauce, but it didn't really taste like much. You order at the counter either to go or to stay, and there are a few bar stools at a narrow counter that you can sit at inside. But when I went it was super loud, so I decided to take a seat at one of the tables on the sidewalk. It wasn't clear to me if these tables were for the burger place or for Escuela next door, since they seemed like school desks and chairs. The table I sat at had a metal top that appeared to have been improperly painted at one point because it was kind of sticky but not in a dirty with food kind of way and it smelled like wet metal. The food came out pretty quickly and they brought it out to me on the sidewalk, which was nice. Not my thing, but others may like. Counter and cooks are inconsiderate, rude and inconsistent. I went in and asked for one double smash burger and my wife wanted a single smash burger with no onions. Her burger was served with a lot of onions. I let them know I didn't want onions and the counter lady just looked at her tablet and said ok. I saw them just scrape off the onions from the bun and meat and serve it back to us! Lazy workers! I noticed when they served it back onions still in it with a rude attitude and no apology this whole time! I said there's still onion and they said oh. We got there at 11:50 a.m., remember this place has about 5 to 6 menu items on it and two of those are burgers. When we started our order after wait to get someone to help us, we are shocked to learn. There were no french fries. They were blanching....! We asked how long it would take to get fries, because duh... When you come to a burger joint you want fries with your burger right? The staff didn't know.
