Variety of different nigiri, rolls, inari
    Linh L.

If you're a sushi lover who has a hard time choosing just one item, Buri Buri is fun to check out. I came here wanting to try a little bit of everything, and their sushi box was perfect for that. It had a great variety of nigiri, specialty pieces, inari, and different toppings, so every bite felt a little different. The fish tasted fresh, and I loved the combination of sauces, tobiko, and toppings that added extra flavor and texture. The inari topped with spicy tuna was one of my favorites, while the specialty pieces were definitely the most fun to eat. Everything was also beautifully presented, the box was almost too pretty to dig into. The biggest highlight for me is definitely the variety. Instead of ordering several full rolls, you can sample a bunch of different pieces in one box. It's a great option for anyone who likes to try a little bit of everything. Overall, Buri Buri is a fun, creative sushi spot in Burlingame with great presentation and plenty of variety. Definitely stopping by again soon!

I thought this place was great for to go sushi. I loved that you can get what you want in the amount that you want. The fish was paired well with the condiments. The workers were patient when I took my time choosing what I wanted. There wasn't too much place to sit though so more to a to go place.

Tiny sushi spot in downtown Burlingame and worth the drive. Quick, simple, and all the effort went into the sushi! Nigiri's and rolls are beautifully displayed. Nothing drowning in sauce, nothing overworked. The quality does show with the price you pay per piece but worth! Will be my go to spot!

This is a wonderful concept but the price gets steep quick. I stopped by here on my way home from work and I was craving sushi so wanted to give this spot a try. The downside is this is downtown and parking is tough. So plan ahead and avoid going during lunch peak hours. There's a lot of sushi selections though they all eventually kind of look and taste the same. Nigiri's are a little bit more expensive than the rolls and my small box of seven pieces came out to be about 20 bucks. I think I may get a better variety though a simpler selection at the Japanese supermarket. A good place to try that is clean with friendly staff but nothing groundbreaking to be honest.

Amazing sushi and so quick! Everything tasted incredibly fresh and was absolutely delicious. We ordered a good variety and honestly loved everything we tried. I just wish they had more tables/seating, but we got lucky and grabbed a spot right in front of the door. Definitely coming back!

My husband and I have almost tried all the sushi options at this point and we love it here. Lots of options, the fish tastes fresh and not super fishy and the price point is great if you're looking to get several types of sushi instead of just 1 or 2 rolls. It's extra clean and the staff has been very friendly every time we've went. And they offer free tea which tastes amazing if you're eating your sushi there. It's not a huge place though, so I wouldn't plan on actually eating there.

THIS PLACE WAS SO GOOD. I went here for the first time and started drooling because of the smell. The colorful sushi made me wanna try every single piece. I think that the eel was delicious and is a must try. Honestly everything tasted good, but the nigiri is definitely something everyone has to try. It is too good to miss. I love eel but the other ones are unique enough to wanna have a taste too.

Fresh and delicious. Found this place on a whim and I will definitely be back! The recommendations were great. There is a huge selection to choose from!

Such a beautiful spot for sushi. Everything is ready made and ready to go. I decided to try the katsu sando and the chicken was super crispy and light, great bread, perfect cabbage crunch, and good portions. Overall this spot is very pleasant on the visual senses. The colors, the presentation, and the beauty of the color is amazing.

Stopped here on my way to the airport. Found it highly recommended on Yelp and this place did not disappoint! Sushi sold by the piece! All very fresh and delicious! This place had an excellent assortments of Japanese drinks and sake's as well. Very little seating space available so it's best suited for take out, but it's totally worth the stop if you are looking for good sushi on the go.

Want delicious sushi but have time constraint? This is the place to go to. They had many options ready for you. From inari, to nigiri, and to special rolls, they all were flavorful. I wish it was more fresh but it was still tasty. I think the rice consistency couldve been better but that might be a personal preference. The strawberry cream sando was not worth. The cream was overpowering and not as much strawberry flavor I was hoping for.

Saw Buri Buri right when we pulled up nearby for paid street parking. It's a great place to get some nigiri, sushi, etc. for a alight snack, since filling up the entire tray box for a filling lunch is definitely going to cost you a pretty penny. Despite this, the quality, freshness, and uniqueness of the sushi offered here and the fact that you're at Burlingame Coat Factory neighborhood makes sense. There's super limited counter seating inside, but you get complimentary water and tea and you can grab soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. You can sort of sit outside on the bench, but it's super windy, so this is probably more of a take out place than anything. If you're not feeling sushi rolls or nigiri, you can also get some pre-made fridge sandos here (I saw egg salad during our visit), various bentos with potato salad and veggies with a weekly chef special or with classics like unagi or pork katsu, or you can get their homemade soup of the day. For our order, we got the: saba (mackerel), pressed spicy tuna sushi, maguro tuna, sea bream, hamachi (yellowtail), and Sanma fish. I had to get at least one pressed sushi since it's not offered very often and it's cube shape is pretty unique and cute. It's not bad. Had some bonito flakes and sliced jalapeno on it for a kick. I don't usually see sanma fish either, which is nice. All the fish was fresh and had a good texture to it. Altogether this was over $20 and it barely filled up a row for the box, so keep that in mind so you don't accidentally build a $100+ box. Not bad, service was helpful in answering our questions and keeping everything stocked.

Omg- I'm going to fill up my while small box! Hee

First of all being Hapa/Japanese and Spanish and being allergic to mono sudden glycinate/MSG freaking sucks!!! Not only am I allergic to my own cultural food, but I'm allergic to MSG which is always in soy sauce unless the location uses tamari. I heard about this place on Instagram and I was so excited and thrilled to see I could order slices of individual sushi pieces and make up my own personal bento box. I was thrilled!! My Foodie Friend and I had to drive 40 minutes away to come visit this enchanting shop and we were so excited!! This particular day it was freezing cold over there so we didn't order any drinks, but they looked delicious! Both servers were very patient as I asked 9 million questions since I couldn't have any of the sushi rolls that had soy sauce in them, and the Chef even came out to double check a couple items! Everything was delicious and had such great flavor and freshness!! Ambience was very cute and quaint like you were in a side street of Japan and all the tables were actually filled outside so we were lucky to get a seat inside since we were freezing cold!! I will definitely come back here again and again!! I want to try one of their strawberry cream, cheese sandwiches! And definitely their Matcha!!

The flavors of the dashi and ingredients really shine through in the refined dishes, and every single one was absolutely delicious. I went for lunch. The appetizer on the lunch set menu consisted of four small bowls and a inari sushi arranged on a plate--just the right amount to savor each dish. It was visually stunning and incredibly tasty. For my main course, I ordered the Bara Chirashi Sushi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the amount of vinegared rice was just right. It came with several sheets of nori, so I was able to make my own hand-rolled sushi. The dashi in the miso soup was also exceptionally flavorful--all in all, it was a very satisfying lunch. The server brought out the dishes at just the right moments and regularly came by to refill my green tea at no extra charge. I definitely want to visit again for dinner.

The service was amazing -- one super efficient waiter handled pretty much the whole room with a manager. Very attentive water refills and very accessible. The food came out so quickly and was delicious! Chicken katsu curry is $18 and generously portioned. I got the katsu rice plate (no curry sauce, but a sweet BBQ-ish katsu sauce) which came with a pile of cabbage salad, pickled cucumber salad, marinara spaghetti (somewhat inexplicably, but they do specialize in Japanese spaghetti here), rice, and miso soup for $19. A good deal! Chicken was tender and moist. The chicken katsu udon has a good amount of spice and flavor; just note it's on the spicy side. Also really appreciate the sesame seed grinder, the assortment of peppers and spices at the table you could add, and that there is a self-serve napkin dispenser. Those little things make a difference.

If you plan on visiting during the weekend, expect a wait. The line can get pretty long, but after eating here multiple times, I can confidently say it is worth every minute. Some restaurants are all hype, but Curry Hyuga earns every bit of the praise it receives. The katsu is consistently excellent. Whether you order the chicken or the pork, the breading is always perfectly crisp while the meat stays incredibly juicy and tender. That level of consistency is something I really appreciate because every visit has been just as good as the last. The curry is what keeps me coming back. It is rich, comforting, and packed with layers of flavor. Every bite has a depth and complexity that makes it stand out from your typical Japanese curry. It is the kind of meal that leaves you thinking about it long after you have finished. One thing I also really enjoy is the atmosphere. The restaurant strikes a great balance between being lively and comfortable. There is enough energy in the room that it feels welcoming and full of life, but it is still quiet enough to have an easy conversation without having to raise your voice. I often find myself stopping in for a solo meal when I am in the area, and it is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful lunch or dinner by myself. At the same time, it works just as well when I bring friends and family. It is one of those rare restaurants that feels right no matter who you are dining with. The staff has also been nothing but friendly and welcoming every time I have visited. Even when the restaurant is packed, they stay attentive and keep things moving with a smile. If you have been debating whether to wait in line, take this as your sign. Curry Hyuga earned its place among the Top 100 Restaurants in the country for a reason, and it continues to prove why with every visit. I will happily keep coming back.

Quail + Crane -- An Incredible Breakfast Experience…read more We stayed at the Hyatt SFO for a little staycation and received complimentary breakfast at Quail + Crane the following morning. I honestly wasn't expecting breakfast to become one of the highlights of our stay, but it absolutely did. First, the setting is beautiful. Sitting there enjoying breakfast with the gorgeous view immediately made the morning feel special. The freshly squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and I have to give an unexpected amount of praise to the fruit plate -- possibly the best fruit plate I've ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly ripe, beautifully presented, and actually tasted as good as it looked. Then came breakfast! I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Dungeness crab, accompanied by potatoes and greens, and it was phenomenal. The eggs were beautifully prepared, there was a generous amount of crab, and everything worked perfectly together. My husband created his own omelette with bacon, ham, spinach and cheese, also with potatoes, and his meal was equally fantastic. Everything arrived fresh, hot and beautifully presented. But what really took our experience to another level was the service. Our waitress was the ONLY server working the entire room, which was completely full, and somehow she made us feel as though we were the only people in the restaurant. I genuinely don't know how she did it. She was attentive, warm, personable and never once made us feel rushed or forgotten. Watching her take care of an entire dining room while still providing that level of individual attention was impressive. She deserves tremendous recognition. We also had the pleasure of meeting Shawn, who I believe was a manager, and he embodied hospitality. He personally welcomed us, asked how our stay was going, whether we were enjoying our view and Club Level accommodations, and of course how we were enjoying the restaurant. It never felt like a scripted manager check-in. He was genuinely kind, professional and interested in our experience. That interaction stayed with us. We would happily return knowing Shawn was in the building because he made us feel that well taken care of. My only constructive feedback would be regarding our initial interaction with the host. The welcome felt noticeably less warm than the rest of our experience. We were asked to wait approximately 10 minutes despite several tables appearing to be available, and the interaction was fairly dry, without much of a greeting or smile. It wasn't a major issue, but because the hospitality from everyone else was so exceptional, the difference stood out. A warmer initial welcome would make the experience seamless from beginning to end. That said, once we were seated, Quail + Crane absolutely knocked it out of the park. Beautiful views, fantastic food, incredibly fresh ingredients and service that made an already wonderful staycation even more memorable. Shawn and our incredible waitress -- thank you. You are exactly what great hospitality looks like. We will absolutely be back.

Seating is decent depending on where you get seated and how crowded the restaurant is. When we went this time, it was much more crowded and we got seated at a tight area where servers slid behind me and another seat that was less than a foot away rather than walking around to a wider area. Service was alright and food was served promptly. No top tier service despite the price being equivalent to our experience at the Rosewood on Sand Hill. If I am paying that much, at least have the staff be able to explain each dishes and the origin of the food. Lastly, the food was worse than before. The Chilean Sea Bass was slightly overcooked. The Pad Thai and Shrimp Fried Rice were okay, since they are hard to mess up. The dumpling soup was okay and it being in a bowl made of plastic felt a little off putting considering the price. The California Roll was very expensive despite not being anything special. The cheesecake dessert also got smaller than last time and they gave less fruits than before. The only dish that tasted great this time were the Aloha Island sushi rolls, which were $34 for 4 bites. Portions are also on the smaller side at this restaurant, and having to order extra food to be full when it is already expensive is not great when the food had gone downhill. I really wanted to like this place, but I guess not. Also the manager recently changed.

This place has seemed to have gotten an elevated, more modern face lift/ renovation compared to the restaurant that used to be here. I was surprised that they didn't have standard sushi rolls that I'm usually accustomed to, but from the rolls that I've tried here... change is good. I ordered: 1. Corn tempura: First time seeing this, I love both corn and tempura. Had to see what it was about. It was perfection. Now it makes me wonder why this has never been done. 2. California roll: Standard staple and was good. 3. Warriors roll: It's an interesting combo, all items that I like.. first bite you're hit with a flavor explosion. At times I felt I couldn't taste the shrimp tempura, but the crunch from the crunchy onion ties it all together. 4. Beef steak: She recommended me to try this first before trying the daily special or short rib. She did not disappoint with this recommendation. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Upon entering the restaurant, it is a small space. There were two hostess/waitresses going around, but they were more focused on the customers already dining in so we were standing there for about 10 minutes before anyone noticed us. And honestly, they only realized we were there when a family of 6 came in after us. For some reason, that family of 6 was seated before we were. I guess they didn't have enough small tables so we ended up sitting at the counter near the bathroom. Here's what we got: - Chashu ramen (for me) - Dragon roll (to share) - Tempura udon (his) - Lion king roll (to share) Zach and I both got noodle dishes and shared the two rolls. Our noodles came first and then the rolls. The ramen was pretty standard and tasted fine. We also felt that the bowls were fairly small. The lion king roll though, we had to send it back because the salmon on top was only seared and I was 3 months pregnant at the time. My husband informed one of the waitresses that we needed a fully cooked Lion King roll. She took that away and a new (?) one was brought out about 10 minutes later. Between the two rolls, the dragon roll tasted better in freshness. Would I jump at the chance to come back here? Probably not. The service wasn't off to a good start and the food was just okay.

Come have lunch or dinner at Mr. Teriyaki if you're looking for nice ambiance, incredible food, and…read moreAMAZING AMAZING AMAZING staff!!! I truly cannot say enough good things about my and my wife's experience here tonight. Let me start off with the food: my wife got the rock'n'roll sushi and the cherry blossom sushi, I got the chicken teriyaki rice bowl that came with miso soup and salad, and we split vegetable tempura as an appetizer. Everything was absolutely delicious, with sizable portions and absolutely beautiful plating and presentation (the cherry blossom sushi is my favorite, it was so pretty!). Normally we're big eaters and had waited a few hours past our usual dinner time so we could really fill up, yet we did so and STILL had leftovers to take home! Pricing was great, too, especially considering the portions and the amount of food we ordered: for all that sushi, we wound up only spending $95, minus tip, which we made $34, or about 35% - ABSOLUTELY worth it, and let me explain why. I am in a wheelchair and when we arrived, we needed to use the bathroom. My wheelchair is a few inches larger than what ADA compliance for restaurants and stores ask for as a minimum, and while the hallway to the bathroom was absolutely ADA accessible, it wasn't accessible for my wheelchair. I was not upset about this at all, and have experienced this issue plenty at other shops and restaurants, especially the closer I get to San Francisco in where I go. I am partially ambulatory and able to walk a few steps at a time, however, so I started off by holding onto the wall and my wife folded up my chair and followed me - I figured if nothing else, this was great physical therapy for me! The staff and owners quickly realized what was going on, and immediately gave me TONS of assistance, then while I was using the bathroom, cleared out heavy furniture from the hallway to make it accessible for my extra-wide chair, even though they didn't have to do that, even though I never asked them to, and then provided me the same assistance again of letting me hold onto them as needed on the way back out. Later, our waitress asked me if it was okay to inquire as to the size of my chair, as the hallway being inaccessible for my chair upset the owner and staff, and they wanted to make sure that would never be inaccessible again for me or anyone else! They even gave us free chicken gyoza in apology for the trouble of it all, even though we truly weren't expecting anything and completely understood. By the way, all of this happened even after we came in just 20 minutes prior to closing (I had misremembered what time they closed by an hour). I really, truly cannot emphasize enough just what a wonderful restaurant Mr. Teriyaki Sushi is, and the heart of that wonder is in its owners and staff. I wish we didn't live so far out of town, so we could come here more regularly! Rest assured, however, we will DEFINITELY be back in the future when we next have a reason to be in the city. Thank you for such fantastic food, service, and all of your kindness!!! You made our night!!

It's a very small restaurant located in a very non-descriptive area - it's behind an office building in what looks like a garage. It's very clean inside. Do not let the outside appearance for you. The theory was huge with good sized portions and the custom rolls were also very good. Will definitely be back next time. I'm in this area.

Amami is one of my favorite spots in SF for sushi, and I'm so glad they have multiple locations…read more This one was conveniently located right next to the airport so I could stop by on a layover :) They were super busy inside but we snagged one of the last tables around noon. After ordering it did take a bit of time to get our food as they seemed pretty backlogged. I got the sushi deluxe which came with an assortment of nigiri and an eel roll. We also got the tempura udon, and a crab roll. Everything was delicious! I loved the nigiri here as they're so generous in size and always taste fresh. The crab roll was also good, and the sweet potato tempura that came with the udon was amazing. Definitely recommend amami - their omakase is great and everything else too!

I really hope this place improves in the service department soon.
