Both ladies - excellent team members for Burton's-the restaurant was very busy and no one was standing around -every staff member was in motion.. A well oiled machine! Menu is plentiful and diverse- love the GF options if needed.. always asked if any allergies ....kitchen staff is very accommodating. We enjoyed short ribs entree with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes as well as Salmon Romesco entree..both delicious and very filling-needed to-go-boxes.. ample portions. Came here on a Saturday evening just to have a cocktail and dinner. First time dining in. I was expecting your typical bar and grille but this one is actually a bit high scale in comparison. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and explained the menu very well. I ended up going for the bolognese which was OK. I'm sure they have better menu options and this one just wasn't as exciting in taste. But the cocktail I had was superb!!!! Burtons is the safest spot to eat in Charleston for anyone with dietary restrictions. I can relax and get things like bread service and fried foods without gluten. Now that they are serving brunch I thought that they deserve an update. If you are in search of more than just eggs for brunch this is your spot. I loved the gluten free French toast! Came here for the first time. And the bartender was super slow. I tried to order a smaller portion and was told " we are happy to give you the smaller portion but have to charge you for the full portion" super disappointing in the restaurant and the behavior of the staff. If I'm giving you money for food please understand that some of us do not eat the volume you serve so ordering the smaller portion should be allowed. Needless to say I will not be back they have lost my business and the business of anyone that asked me about this restaurant. read more

We have been driving by this place for what seems like decades and decided to try it. Service is great. Honestly for a Saturday evening mgt should really think of adding another bartender. These two are literally running around back there. We only had drinks and appetizers so to be fair we have not had the whole "grill" experience. Martinis were good. Seems large. Maybe 4-5 oz. She crab soup was good. Weird that I thought needed salt which I almost never say. Once salted was good. Recommend having if you like that. Would be awesome if they offered in a bread bowl. I don't like Brussel sprouts but I tried the roasted one a my wife got and they were ok. Again needed salt. Taking leftovers home to reheat w spices. Got the Parmesan truffle fries too. Tasty. Was warm not hot but a good partner to the martinis. In the end this place is worth a try. Been around a long time so they are obviously doing things right. Update: wrote the review before tabbing out. We like to do a little "pregame" before hitting the grocery store (makes the experience go a little better). Depending on what we order to drink and eat, the bill usually ends up (with tip) between $80-$100. Our bill here was well north of $100. This is, by no means, a blame - we were having martinis after all. One of them was more than my soup. Was I a little surprised when the bill came? Yes. Should I have been? No. We were doing cocktails in Mt. Pleasant town center. I don't believe PF Chang's would have been any cheaper. read more

Came across this place accidentally. Had just flown in and needed a place to sit, relax, and possibly enjoy a meal. I was traveling alone as my wife was joining me in a couple of days. Had rented a car and going towards Myrtle Beach. Having been in this area previously I crossed the bridge going north and knew there were numerous businesses and a few places to eat available before leaving the metro. The accident part was I simply got off the highway and drove into an area looking for a place to sit and relax. The first turnoff offered nothing but various usual fast and not very good food. Went a little further and discovered this place. Being in the middle between lunches and dinners I was almost the only person in the place, I ordered a burger because it sounded good. It was looking at my receipt the Classic Cheese Burger. Plus a beer. I especially liked that it was not busy so I could sit and read, before driving If I could find it again, with enough time to make the turn I would return the next time I drive this road. I visited this restaurant on a late Friday evening. I was staying in the hotel nearby when we decided to ride around to see what was in the neighborhood. I knew nothing about this restaurant but decided to take a chance. We were immediately seated even though it was bustling and very busy. Immediately I recognized that this must be The spot to go to on a weekend when cooking is not the first choice. We ordered burgers, drinks and wings. The burger was made with high quality beef. You can tell the difference. It was so good. I could eat half at the time. The Memphis rub wings were good too. Not the ordinary wet wings we usually get in Atlanta. Drinks were tasty too. I do believe we nearly closed the restaurant but everyone was cool. We were not made to feel like we needed to leave immediately. Also we had a delightful server. She was very pleasant and attentive. Surprising that this restaurant was so full on a Monday evening - glad we made reservations as walk-ins had to wait. The decor was OK, kind of felt like a chain restaurant. (It is a mini one BTW). Our server Amy was amazing - friendly, informative, patient, accommodating and fun. We didn't want to rush our dinner service so we staggered ordering our choices from the menu. The bread service was highly rated, so we ordered it as a starter along with the fried calamari and peppers. The squid arrived first...and we were blown away. The rings and tentacles were perfectly tender and crunchy. When paired with the spicy and vinegary cherry and jalapeño peppers and the creamy dipping sauce, this was a match made in heaven. Seriously, some of the best calamari we have had in ages. Sadly, the bread was neither warm nor enticing. It wasn't worth the calories. The three spreads accompanying the dish were a tapenade (which was excellent), but unfortunately the flavored butter and pesto were just OK. It really didn't matter in the end, as we only took a couple bites of the bread. Our main dishes consisted of steak frites with chimichurri and Parmesan truffle fries plus a chicken piccata with spinach, capers served in a lemon butter sauce. My husband's dish arrived first, and of course he immediately tried a fry. They were not hot so the meal was returned to the kitchen. In the interim my entree arrived and it suffered the same fate as the potatoes so back to the kitchen it went. This kind of disruption to a dining experience was hard to recover from. The rhythm was off, and my husband and I did not get our meals back at the same time. His returned first, the fries were hot, tasty and crispy but sadly the interruption caused the steak to cool completely. My pasta dish arrived later. It was just OK. The chicken needed more umph, the sauce was very delicate but underwhelming. The angel hair was cooked well. The saving grace in the end was the excellent customer service and the genuine concern the staff had over the night's hiccups. The calamari also saved the day. First off my son and I waited for a good five plus minutes for a hostess to greet us, then it took the server close to ten minutes to come to the table. Food came out fast but felt like an Applebees it was ok. The server never checked on how the food was and then forgot on two separate occasion to bring a small box for my son's lunch. The chicken cordon blue was delicious and a great portion. I was able to substitute the mashed potatoes with broccoli that had been steamed and had a nice touch of oil and salt. The haricot vert were also dressed with a butter sauce so although healthy, this was rich. I ate every bite. The key lime pie was my favorite and I had to take it home. The gram cracker crust was a meal in itself. Our waitress was kind and social wi th great recommendations. She made us feel welcome and happy in a weary state. We happened to find this spot for lunch yesterday. We didn't want fast food but didn't really expect to pay $18 for a burger and $19 for a chicken salad. The food was delicious and it's obviously a more "upscale" restaurant but not sure I'd return considering the cost. They asked us more than once if we have any food allergies and it turns out they have a large selection for those that do.
