My husband and I share the same birthday and decided to take a short road trip to the Charleston, SC area for the weekend. Burtons was up the street from our hotel so we decided to dine here during our visit. It was a Saturday during Covid 19. The restaurant is located in a large shopping center so there was plenty of parking. Burtons was crowded both inside and outside on the patio while still social distancing by tables being 6 feet apart. When we walked in we were greeted by staff that were super friendly, we were seated right away in a booth inside. The staff all wore mask and cleaned all surfaces frequently the entire time we were there. Although Burtons Grill and Bar is a chain there aren't any where I live therefore I had never been to one. The lighting was dim and the ambiance was upscale yet casual. There was a large bar with several televisions to watch. Our waitress was amicable and attentive. The first thing she asked is if we had allergies of any sort, which I thought was awesome about this restaurant. Burtons was in fact voted the most allergy-friendly small chain in 2019 by Allergy Eats. While many restaurants ask for you not to ask them to alter entrees, Burtons encourages it's customers to be clear about what their needs are when it comes to allergies and they don't mind mixing a dish up to accommodate the customer. We started off with the firecracker shrimp, they were good but not spicy like I expected. Our second appetizer was the spinach and artichoke dip which was amazing, you could taste the fresh artichokes and spinach, I did not at all mind cheating on my diet. We both had margaritas which were strong. As for entrees my husband had the Salmon Romesco and I had the Crab Crusted Haddock which came over Jasmine Rice and I substituted the broccoli with a Ceasar salad. Hands down their ceasar dressing was the best I have ever had it. My husband enjoyed his Salmon but was not a fan of the Jasmine rice. My dish was forgettable the Crab Crusted fish did not taste like crab at all on top and the rice was dry and not flavorful. There was a small amount of sauce on the plate which they probably should have put over the entire dish. I think I simply ordered the wrong entree. Customer service was outstanding, the entire staff was friendly. The restaurant was very clean. This is a nice place for meeting up for drinks or date night. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Mount Pleasant. read more

I literally have never in my life left a review and I came on here JUST to do that because I was blown away at the food and service. I am gluten free and they had an EXTENSIVE menu for us with tons of options. We ordered: crispy calamari, crispy shrimp, general tso cauliflower, cheesesteak spring rolls for apps. All 10/10. Could not even tell it was gluten free at all. For entrees we for chicken piccata and steak and everything was cooked to perfection. I wish so badly I lived here I would come all the time. I so enjoyed this restaurant for a couple of reasons. Let me begin as soon as we walked in the door.... It was a Friday evening and it was packed. Walking up to the hostess she made a disclosure that all tables were taken at the time and to expect a wait then she proceeded to ask how many in the party and she looked @ us and said, "do U mind waiting for a quick second?" and a he walked over to a booth and asked for it to be cleaned and came back to the hostess podium and asked us to follow her and we were seated in less than 10min. I was blown away but the level of care they offered. We love this place and whenever we're in town, we never skip a visit. Today is cold here, so I ordered take out for my child, put a note to please, if possible, keep the meat apart from other items... this amazing team put every single item into individual soup containers so nothing will be in contact. My child is autistic and will not try the food if meat and rice are mixed, even if just a couple of grains. I cannot begin to describe how thankful we are for them catering to our kid. I went here for a family birthday dinner with high expeditions. They were just mediocre. My drink from the bar was good and so was the appetizer that we had got. My entree on the other hand was bland. It did not have much flavor. The sauce for me was lacking salt and needed a much deeper profile to make the dish come together. I remember back when I lived in Mt Pleasant that this was a Chili's. So glad Burton's has moved in. I live in Richmond, Virginia, but grew up in Charleston. Mt Pleasant is where both of my children were born and we spent many happy years in the area. In 2006, I was promoted and moved with my company to Richmond, Virginia, but my entire family is still in the area so I'm here several times a year. My mom had an appointment on Daniel Island, so I suggested we eat lunch before we go. I picked Burtons based on the reviews and the menu, which was filled with seafood. For an appetizer, my mom and I shared the Mediterranean shrimp appetizer, which came with bread. The shrimp were in a wine sauce with tomatoes, spinach and feta. It was so good. The shrimp were clearly local and fresh. They were large too. For entrees, I got a scallop special that was served with corn, bacon and asparagus. It was delicious---summer on a plate! My mom got a crab stuffed fish...I think it was halibut. It was a while fish and was perfectly cooked. She's a huge fan ps sweet potatoes so opted for the sweet potato salad instead of jasmine rice. For dessert we shared a chocolate creme brûlée. I didn't care for it...it tasted like one of those pudding packs you mix up from the grocery store. For lunch this was a little pricey, but I am willing to pay more for really great seafood. read more

What a disappointment. First off, I'm not super picky but the food was gross and considering the cost I'm really not happy. My daughter is Celiac so we tried. Burton's due to all the rave reviews and her limited options. If you understand Celiac, it's very difficult to get someone to go to a restaurant. I ordered the steak frites medium rare and for her, the filet mignon medium. The filet came out medium rare to rare and my flat iron steak frites was well done to almost inedible. My wife has the lobster and shrimp gnocchi and my son the pappardelle bolognese. Both of those were under seasoned and underwhelming. The waitress never bothered to even ask how our food was and apologized multiple times for the slow service. What a waste of $165 and we'll never be back. I went during restaurant week and had the most delicious and beautifully presented Pumpkin and Butternut Squash Ravioli (pictured below). Service was wonderful and we sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. Some reviews have said this place is not dog friendly but we called ahead and asked and were able to bring our furr baby to enjoy our meal on the patio. They even brought him his own water bowl and plain grilled chicken (that we requested). Scrumptious meal if you'd like to venture out from the typical restaurants on East Bay! National Cheeseburger Day 2018, I headed over to Mt P to have dinner with Eric and Laura here. I'd never been, but they'd had a couple of great experiences. We arrived around 6:30 and the place was pretty packed. We ended up getting a tall table in the bar area. The bartender Alan was our server and he was great. Since it was still happy hour we got half price well liquor drinks and some Haddock Fingers which are fancy fish sticks. I tried one and it was light, fresh, and served with a good dipping sauce. When it came to cheeseburger ordering time, I went for the Maxx Burger. It had all the toppings I like with a burger so it was the easiest choice. While we waited on dinner a manager came by and asked if we wanted to have some free appetizers. Ummmm yeah!! She gave us the fried calamari and General Sao cauliflower. Both fantastic! Both served with great dipping sauces. (If you didn't know already, I'm really into sauces!!). The calamari was lightly battered, not greasy and I liked the addition of fried jalapeños. The cauliflower was the highlight of the meal though. It was so good and took this entire review up a star. So by this point, now I'm stuffed. But wait the whole point of this night out was national cheeseburger day! I really hate these restaurant chains that charge so much and they don't bring bread to the table. That may sound petty but it bothers me so much. Holy cow!!!! Cannot wait to come back. Our waiter George was the kindest waiter I've ever had. He took so much care and consideration with our tables allergies; I was thoroughly impressed, as someone with major allergies!! The beet salad was my entree and it was just absolutely delicious. When they brought out our tables entrees each food runner stated the entree and the allergy care prevention. We had crab cake Benedict,breakfast burger and the chicken and waffles. The Benedict had real crab and the hollandaise sauce was light. They came with grits and fruit. As someone with celiac, this is one of my favorite restaurant in the Charleston area. I can be assured that my meal will be prepared safely for me. They take allergies seriously here and I really appreciate being able to dine out like a normal person. I've tried an assortment of the food here. They have DELICIOUS GF focaccia appetizer with butter, tapenade, and pesto. I've seriously gone for dinner here just for the bread! I've eaten the southwest chicken salad a number of times and it is delicious. The only problem is the portion is too small for the $19 price tag. If I don't order bread with this, I'm starving a short time later. The roasted summer vegetables bowl is great too- just priced a little too high. The California chicken sandwich is pretty amazing. It is on the spicy side though, so beware. The fries are perfect (and safely prepared in a separate fryer). The cucumber salad is crisp and tasty. Garlic mashed potatoes are great. The Mediterranean Chicken Risotto is okay- perhaps a bit under seasoned. I also don't like the way the chicken is served - it should perhaps be grilled or sautéed. It's pale and soft. The New York Strip is phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned and the butter finish takes it to the top. The Chocolate Budino is way better than I expected. The chocolate pudding is rich and not at all like a pudding cup. The lace cookie, a fantastic treat for a celiac, is perfect. I had to take half of the dessert home because it was too good to eat in one serving. The bathrooms are always clean and the staff is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. There is a loyalty card. It's a little confusing to view your points online, but if you use your phone number, your server can check on it for you. Every $300 you spend, you get $25 off. read more

Can't go wrong at Burtons. The Firecracker Shrimp and General Tso's Cauliflower were equally amazing apps. The General Tso's Chicken Bowl is mildly spicy and delicious. The Street Taco Bowl with fried shrimp was good- some ingredients are warm some are refrigerator cold - so be prepared- it's not a hot dish. My ribeye was fantastic, great cut of meat. And the bone broth butter on top was unique and very flavorful. The Mediterranean Chicken Risotto was incredible- rich, flavorful sauce and moist seasoned chicken. Had no room for dessert. I can't say enough how much I loved this place. I literally downloaded Yelp just to write this review. I was literally blown away. I was greeted with friendly hosts who sat my boyfriend and I immediately on a Friday night. Our waitress was the nicest person ever, I think her name was Brittany. She was very educated on everything on the menu and was so polite. We weren't going to get an app but we did and I am SO glad we did. The bread service literally. Shook. My. World. If I could hug a food it would be this bread. I literally have never had something so wonderfully delicious. AND it kept coming. You could get as much bread as you wanted, it was included in the "bread service" appetizer. The dips too. SO good. Then I had an incredible salad and it hit just right.
