Our golf group dined at Butcher's Kitchen CHAR-B-Que in Reno. I ordered the Prime Rib Tips with a side of Cornbread and Potato Salad. The group thoroughly enjoyed the quality of food, great service, and casual atmosphere. The staff were some of the most friendly and welcoming we've experienced here in Reno. Note: indoor and outdoor seating was comfortable. The "garage door" separating the indoor and outdoor dining area was open which made the space feel big.
Char B Que has breakfast. They offer a breakfast sandwich with choice of protein/ meat; Breakfast burritos and or tacos with choice of meat and breakfast bowls. I chose the breakfast bowl with brisket as the protein. The bowl has 3 scrambled or fried eggs, plenty of cheese and potato and tender and tasty brisket. Everything was cooked to order and came out quickly. I ordered it to go and it was still nice and warm when I got home. Char B Que offers a ton of bbq items and sauces that are well made. It's also very clean and roomy inside for large or small events.
I've been here a few times and I've always been very pleased with the barbecue. I got here. Today I tried their Monday nine dollar birria burrito of the day and it was astoundingly good. Will be back soon!
It was a first time at Butcher's Kitchen. The bartender Eric was very helpful with our menu selections. We had the Monday special Burrito & Beer, $15. My husband and I split the burrito it was plentiful. We got to meet the owner Ed, the son, but unfortunately his Dad also named Ed wasn't there. I noticed they had a sign up they were features on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. Just to taste the food you'll know why they were on the show! Fantastic! If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat! I look forward to going back for happy hour.
This is a super high-quality breakfast, there's not a lot of things on the menu, but the things that they do have check all the boxes. This is a barbecue spot so you can expect high-quality meat and eggs. The service is always prompt. You pay at the counter and they bring it to your table. The restaurant layout flows. They have a really nice bar and outdoor seating with shade.
My favorite barbecue in Northern Nevada! This place has been featured on the food channel, and Guy Fieri himself has been here due to the quality of food being off the charts!! I love getting the pulled pork sandwich. I also love the rib tips. Last night I ordered a half pound of tri-tip half pound of pulled pork and some ribs and I was so impressed with the quality of the meats. I don't think any place can top this barbecue spot. I love the french fries here they are seasoned perfectly in the coleslaw is unreal as well. Usually not a huge coleslaw fan. Everything is well seasoned and I even bought a bun so I can make a pulled pork sandwich with the spread that I took pictures of. The service is always fast but sometimes I do call it in in advance just so it's ready when I get there. Everybody is always friendly and very nice and super helpful if you have any questions. I love their location. It is very big. They have enough seating even when they are very busy and it's always kept very clean. They always have a good number of TVs playing some sports as well too, which is a good vibe. Anybody that comes here on vacation I always recommend them to come to the spot! I will be back for more noms
My favorite BBQ place in town! The food is always great and tasty! Either a BBQ feast or just a quick bite of burger or sandwich, you will always be satisfied!
Guy Fieri stop on DDD! Delicious bbq at an affordable price. Ribs were good but lacked the "fall off the bone" tenderness. The standout was the brisket. Roasted veggies were good but the potatoes were still firm and not fork tender. Garlic bread was probably the weakest, however, still edible. I wanted more garlic flavor. Order at the counter. Lots of tables for big parties. There is also seating outside. Lots of takeout happening. Parking is plentiful.
I have been craving good BBQ for a while and was excited to try here. Great area, lots of parking, quick and polite service. Unfortunately, the food just missed the mark for me. We spent approximately $50 for two plates, but most BBQ spots are around that range so to be expected. The Tri-Tip & corn-bread were by far the stars of the show, but the fries were really good too! Loved the seasoning! The rest seemed to lack flavor for my liking. The brisket was a bit hard to swallow, even with the sauce. Overall we won't be going here for our BBQ cravings, but not angry at it.
For the drive home from Reno, I had to do some calculations in regard to dinner. Tomorrow, we are going to Tres Hermanas in Davis, Saturday night to Tropeiro's Grill downtown. So for tonight...BBQ! Yelp showed Butcher's Kitchen nearby and with a fair number of reviews. In something of a strip mall, it was easy to find. One person was just finishing ordering when I walked in. The person behind the counter was super helpful as I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu. All I really wanted was ribs, but so glad I chose the plate. Which came with two sides. I selected Mac and cheese and a wedge salad. Couldn't eat the salad on the road, so I think I'll have that now. But everything else was really, really good. The little garlic rolls were super fresh, mildly seasoned and perfectly toasted. The ribs, though...oh man! I don't usually get BBQ sauce, kinda have to be in the mood for it. So, the actual rib on its own is important. And these were excellent. Tender, juicy, and delightfully seasoned. But the best part? They were wonderfully smoked. The ribs were really meaty, too. A+! I know I'm being rather one-sided, here but everything was seriously delicious. The Mac n cheese was packed full in the container, had a generous amount of cheese and the cheese was thick with a nice sharp cheddar flavor. I could eat that stuff every day. Alright. That's enough of that. I'm going to eat the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. If you ever end up in Reno and feel like BBQ, Butcher's Kitchen does it right. Right down to the sides.
Whenever I go somewhere new on vacation I like to look up Diners, Drive-in's and Dives locations. Saw this one so we decided to try it out. It did not disappoint! We happened to show up during happy hour but we had dinner reservations in a few hours so we just got a couple of "bites" to share. We all enjoyed what we got! (There was 4 of us). The sliders were great and only $3 each. My husband wanted to try the rib tips as that is one of the items Guy got on the show. Those were also tasty. The Italian sausage had a little kick. There were 3 different bbq sauce options. We tried 2 of the 3 (didn't get the spicy one). I personally didn't love either of the 2 we tried but the others did. The guy who rang us up was helpful and nice. Give this place a try if you're in the area. Head up; it doesn't look like much from the front/parking lot but is nice once inside.
Came In for lunch party of 2. Second visit to this establishment. My first was to go. Glad I had a sit down meal. It was early lunch approx around 11:30, not busy, 6 or 7 tables occupied. Enjoyed their friendly service. I got the pulled pork plates this time, it's consist of pulled pork, garlic bread, Mac salad, and chilli and as my sauce I had house bbq hot, I really enjoyed their friendly service savory moist texture off the pulled pork with house bbq (hot). My friend had pork short ribs plate, garlic bread, Mac salad and their soup of the day. She enjoyed the soup of the day and pork short ribs. I have always enjoyed this restaurant. Years ago when they first opened we would take our family there a few times a month. Their food is delicious and the variety will meet everyone's tastes. Last night I enjoyed a fun night out with friends. The service is friendly, the walls are decorated nicely. The ambiance is casual and friendly. Great spot to enjoy a meal. read more
I have two problems. The first is that it is raining. The second is that I have to finish the second half of a four hour movie. Delivery is the key! We ordered, for delivery, brisket and ribs! Well done!... Ok. So they are currently out of ribs (They smoke a limited quantity each day.) So we get two brisket orders instead. Tell me who will complain about brisket? If you want to get ribs, go early and often. The rest of us are stuck with *cough* mediocre brisket (It is absolutely not mediocre!) The best part, and I mean the very best part, is that the owner called us directly and offered an option! That, my friends is customer service! Weirdly, we got two full racks of ribs! Will I order again? Absolutely! So, I was cleaning up... I missed an entire 1/2 pound of brisket! Shame on me! I now have dinner tomorrow as well! It's been awhile since I've been here. They've made some changes and mostly good. They added a new menu board that's digital, more tables, and a few booths. They raised their prices, which I know every one has, but they made the portions smaller. My husband and I used to be able to share an entrée plate (tri tip, mac n cheese and house salad) and a chili, and be completely satisfied. This time we were a little disappointed. We will definitely be back as they have my favorite chili and the food is great. We will know what to expect next time. You order at the counter and bring your food to you. Randomly found this today - didn't feel like breakfast and it was only 10:30am. They opened the full menu for us. Let me tell you - these are the best ribs I've had in a very long time. Very tender but with a nice crust. Great flavor and sauces on the side. The potato salad is a must try. Wedge potatoes make it unique and their flavorings are classic with real dill. The ham hock beans are flavorful with a kick of heat. read more

I am a bit of a bbq snob but I love trying local bbq place. This restaurant is amazing. I was craving meatloaf and looked up recommendations on yelp. Butcher's Kitchen did not disappoint. Their meatloaf is smoked and delicious. I often find meatloaf to be cooked poorly but that was definitely not the case here. I ordered the plate, which came with two sides but you can get it as a sandwich. I got Mac and Cheese and fries for my sides. I will say I have found their Mac and cheese to be a hit or miss. I had it before and it was amazing but I wasn't real impressed last time as it tasted like it had been sitting awhile. But the fries are awesome. I like the Smoky and Spicy bbq sauce. I plan on going back for ribs one day. read more

2nd time here. 1st time was good food but poor service. Came back and will not be back again. Had pulled pork, brisket, mac n cheese, sweet potatoe fries, green beans, and cole slaw. Service was still poor. Everything was over salted (to the point it wasn't edible) except the green beans and brisket. Server delivered 2 platters for a party of 4 with no plates. Had to go ask for plates. We also ordered bread pudding and an ice cream sandwich that we had to ask for after waiting 30min. Bread pudding was good. The $12 Ice cream sandwich was a large scoop of ice cream between two cookies. The cookies were old and had a stale somewhat rancid flavor. My 12 yr old nephew wouldn't eat it. read more

We had the pork tips and the shrimp poboy. Both were excellently prepared and very tasty. We came during the peak of lunch but there was no delay in service. There is seating both indoors and out, kind of a rustic folksy atmosphere. Only downside was they had sold out of the ribs and only had tips left. Highly recommend though! read more

For $100 delivery dinner for two this place used to be amazing but something fell apart. The ribs were completely fatty and gross. The coleslaw had way too much sauce on it. The pulled pork was greasy and we got something we couldn't even recognize because the lid melted in two whatever it was. One of the better BBQ spots in town. Patio seating available out front, plenty of seats inside and a lot of daily specials to choose from. We always get their brisket, tri tip and filet either in a sandwich, burrito or as a plate. The meat is tender and flavorful. They have a few different sauce options you can add to your plate, which we love the sweet heat option. Their mac n cheese, sweet potato fries and biscuts are delicious. The mac and cheese is more of a dry texture, but the flavor is great. The biscuit is buttered and toasted and the sweet potato fries... OMG! They are crispy, sweet, salty and a hint of garlic perfection. Definitely a must. We couldn't stop eating them we ordered more. Definitely recommend. read more
Great barbecue. I usually order the rib tips, ribs, and chicken. Love that they also have bbq sauce bottles available for customers. Service is a hit or miss. We felt rushed by the cranky lady who took our order from our recent visit and got our order wrong. They have chicken and pulled chicken on their menu and we asked for a quarter of the chicken and got a cup of pulled chicken. Luckily, one of the staff was nice enough to fix our order but it seemed the lady who took our original order was not happy about it. Complete turn off. If you're looking for great bbq and a casual dining experience in the area then I can definitely recommend Butcher's Kitchen Char-B-que. Service could use work; specifically the lady who took our order. We don't need to deal with a cranky staff member who rushes our order just to get it wrong. read more
This was our first time checking out this place. We really enjoyed it. We came in for lunch. Plenty of seating from table to booths and seating at the bar area. The menu had lots of options from sandwiches to plates and sides and desserts. The staff were friendly and helpful. After you order they give you a number to set on your table and then bring out your food. It was really a great experience overall. The food was delicious as well. We ordered a spare rib tip plate which comes with two sides; we opted for roasted veggies and sweet potato fries. We also had a brisket sandwich with all the fixins plus pepper jack cheese and side of coleslaw. We are definitely planning to go back again. read more

Moved to area from Kansas City (BBQ Capital of the World). So keep in mind I am a BBQ snob/connoisseur. All my life eating at places like Jack Stack, Que 39, Gates, Bryant's, LC's and Joe's in KC (Anthony Bourdaine top places to eat before you die)... I've hit 10 supposed high rated BBQ places between visits to AZ/Vegas and my new hometown of Reno/Carson City. Finally - something in KC's league! The Rib Tips were a legit 5 star! Overall - I'm giving this joint a 4 star. A few things dinged it the overall (see below). Rib Tips - 5 star. So good I will make the trip to get to go orders on weekends. This dish made this my top BBQ spot visited since moving away from KC 5 years ago. Beverages 5 - Serving Coca-Cola... the fountain/syrup is mixed correctly! Only Coke products for BBQ is acceptable. Pepsi is too much like koolaid and not good with Que. Brisket- 3 star. Decent but minor leagues compared to KC Que Sides - 1. Fries were served just warm (not hot) and were avg, chili was gross/terrible, garlic bread was hamburger buns from Sam's - come on! - worthless ... huge selection will try 2 other sides next trip... so bad I tasted everything and just ate the fries (and BBQ of course). Wife's selections/ratings: Wedge Salad - 5! Fresh and made the visit worth it (yeah it was that good), Chicken Sandwich- 2 .. bland/plain.. just sort of there. Service 4 - Woulda been a 5 but they give you the ole tip pressure when you pay (when you are ordering). How do I know how good service will be... and you're really not bringing me food.. I'm getting all my refills/extra sauce napkins.. come on. Why am I even tipping - for counter service. I tipped 10%... luckily my order at least provided at the counter pretty fast. I'd prefer they paid their people more and increase menu price accordingly... but whatever. Overall this place would be a 2 without the Rib-tips and Wedge Salad. However- The Rib Tips killed and could hang with KC BBQ... that increased this place to an easy 4. Probably a 4+. This is the only reason I will return (and I actually will hit this place monthly for that) read more
This place is a great joint. Really authentic and Que done in the right way. Brisket, sausage and chicken were all great! Had the beans and slaw were on point. Staff was great, they were really friendly and happy to guide me with the menu. I can see why Guy F. Had this one on triple D, it is a gem hidden in Reno. Thanks for the great meal! read more

My meat was tender in every bite. The fries had sugar on them which I didn't love. It was easy to order and find a seat, even on a Saturday night. It was perfect to sit and have a conversation. Delivery to our table was also way faster than we expected. read more

Always one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat! My wife and I had a great time sitting at the bar and enjoying conversations with the nice staff! We had the CHAR-burger with the side of Mac and cheese! Both were great! Tuesday's special is the pulled pork sandwich which has an ample serving of pulled pork with onion and Cole slaw on a soft bun. Fries are extra and worth it as they are seasoned and crispy. The beef brisket plate ordered with garlic bread, pickled vegetables and Mac n cheese was a great combination of delicious flavors. The service is friendly with reward taking our order and Eric bringing our food to the table and making sure we had everything we needed. Eric makes you feel like you are a guest in his home. Passing thru Reno stopped to gas on the motorcycle and having a hunger pain. Crossed my fingers and searched Yelp for good food and found I was only 800 feet from Butchers Kitchen with its 4.3 stars. Me and my gf had tri tip with a side of slaw and sweet tater fries and it was outstanding! While in Reno for an appointment we wanted to look for an amazing place to eat. After a search of Yelp we decided to try this wonderful place. It isn't hard to find and is located in a small plaza. What attracted us to this place was the ribeye sandwich and the filet mignon sandwich that we saw on yelp. It's a pretty cool place as you walk in. They have a roll up door for when the weather is nice they have that open area feel. This is a place where you place your order then take a seat and they bring your order to your table. They do have quite a menu posted up on the wall. We already were decided on what we wanted. But man I tell you what. I'll be back for some of the other choices they have. We did in fact order what we came for. My wife chose the Mac and cheese as her side and I chose the seasoned fries. It was the lunch hour so they were a little busy. But our food didn't take too long. We both enjoyed every bit of our food. I especially like the Mac and cheese my wife had. The filet mignon sandwich was very tasty as I added some of their hot bbq sauce. This was a pretty good visit and we look forward to coming back and trying the other items on the menu. They also have a full bar with TVs to enjoy watching sports. So this would be a good place to hang out. Kudos to Butchers Kitchen! read more

This is first time at this spot and it's a winner! Loved the bbq flavors and tender meats. Every item was top. Brisket was super moist, tender, and well seasoned. I prefer more bark, but that's why I give it a 9.5/10. Ribs were the style that does not fall off the bone( Some critics think fall off the bone is overcooked), great flavor and a slight crisp to the outside. Loved the pulled pork, it's was so juicy. Lastly, the Mac salad was on point, tangy and al dente on the pasta. Overall, I give a loved it rating of 9.5/10. Great place! read more
Char-B-Que is such an awesome mash up of delicious smoked meats and massive burritos! Of course you can get a traditional BBQ plate but the burritos are the event to go for! They are packed with food and flavor with a host of sauces to compliment. The latest visit I went for my fav, the brisket burrito and sweet potato fries. *lip smack* The restaurant is super laid back and gives off a chill vibe. Especially when the weather is nice and they have that garage door opened up or you can enjoy the patio. Service has been great every time I've been in whether it's for two meals or catering for the office of 40. Char-B-Que is a real winner in the area. read more

Tasty food! Friendly staff! Big portions! What more could you want? Small bar in the corner for those who want that environment. The other 2/3 is order at the counter, sit down and they bring it to you, fast BBQ food. If you are in Reno, I say check them out. You won't be disappointed. Char B Que is a long time favorite! Influenced by Michaels review of the rib tips, we gave them a try!! They are meaty chunks of deliciousness! Dipping these tender bites into their Sweet and Smoky sauce really brought out the smoky charred flavor. I have to also hype up the garlic green beans! They went soo fast! read more

They had a sign by the bar there I believe it's 3-5!

They have the regular combo plates that come with one side (ex Mac n cheese/pickled veggies/fries). They do a burrito Monday, a Wat Wednesday (bratwursts) but no daily lunch specials currently.
