No complaints about our waitress, however after ordering our food, it took them well over 40 minutes to bring us the B & J Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and there wasn't a rush at the time maybe one more family seated before us. I'm not sure if they forgot to deliver us our order, but the biscuit was soggy I am not even exaggerating it must've sat there for 20 mins allowing the blanched spinach soak into the biscuit. The peach fuzz mocktail I ordered didn't even taste like a mocktail it just tasted like peach colored seltzer with no peach flavor all although the waitress added extra peach syrup for me it didn't change the taste at all. I'm not sure if she's supposed to be mixing the drinks and that's why the attempt at making a fizzy juice was extremely underwhelming and an overpriced cup seltzer. Butter and Jam board came without jam. Food was good, but not special. We requested a printed bill, suspecting it would be seriously in error, and it was. Went here for lunch with my 5 coworkers. I tried to call ahead to see if reservations were needed. I got the answering machine. To my surprise, a few minutes later I received call back from Bill, the owner, who proactively called me back since I could not leave a message. We loved the atmosphere and the way they accommodated us upon entry. Our server was terrific, very respectful of our time and the fact that we needed to get back to the office. She was very attentive and very helpful about the menu. I had the adult grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was amazing and so filling. Best of all was the coffee and cappuccino which is served in lovely large cozy mugs the size of my face! Love the easy going yet modern vibe about this place. I came in for a quick brunch. The place is new so everything is beautiful. They started off with water as soon as we sat down. I had the cappuccino with oat milk, topped with cinnamon and cocoa. My date had the cappuccino topped with cocoa. We then ordered the Louisiana Shrimp and Grits, as well as the Pancakes and a side of eggs. Everything was super delicious and fresh. You can tell that they make everything in house. The cinnamon butter that they have was so delicious on top of the pancakes! Make sure you ask for that. The WORST. Everything was terrible, and I'm surprised this establishment is even rated above 3 stars. Everything in there was smelly and had clearly not been properly cleaned, from the restaurant itself to the food to the coffee mugs. The food was mediocre at best and the fruit was DRY, which amazes me. I didn't realize I ordered freeze-dried berries. Never once came to ask us how we were doing, whether we wanted more coffee, if we needed anything else. Cannot believe this place gets any sort of business. the scrambled egg, Swiss, mushroom eggs were deplorable, limited Swiss cheese and very few mushrooms. they advertised shiitake mushrooms but the limited few mushroom morsels were not shiitake. 2 slivers of rye toast and some minimal avocado slices. Remember the eggs arrived lukewarm as did my flat white coffee. Worst breakfast ever at a super high dollar price, ($17.50). The restaurant will not be open very long I fear since the kitchen fails to deliver a substantive quality meal. The waitstaff was adorable but another busboy kept asking if he could remove our plates when clearly we were not done eating. Horrible sad food quality. Get the butter and jam board (tasty butters and jams with bland corn muffins, mini croissants and dry biscuits) and a hot drink. Coffee is fine, lattes are overpriced, hot chocolate the jumbo one is too much. Make a reservation place is always busy. It's very loud, nothing to soak up the sounds. You can't hear anything. They rush you off your table if you're just having coffee and board with your family. They don't even let you know they have a time limit when you make a reservation. Not for nothing but not everyone wants a full meal for breakfast. Just a coffee and a muffin but I don't want to be rushed when I made a reservation and have only been there 45 minutes. I like to savor my bites and take my time having my meal. I like to have conversations with my family while eating. We were not disruptive, not rude, but this establishment needs better customer service skills and/or needs to be upfront about how long you can stay at a table. I'd like to give 2.5 stars read more

Kate is very accommodating and nice and call out to Dean the waiter who is patient, asks the right questions and knows the menu very well. He will ask if grilled items can be blackened or regular in case you have a spice aversion and also patience with kids to explain the order. We've come in several time with our kiddos under 6 and they have great friendly service and indoor and out door seating. I had a very good breakfast and service was excellent. I am from Europe, so I do love a good espresso. You can find Illy coffee and the double espresso was very good. The service was attentive and speedy, coffee came right away, food took no more than 10-15 minutes and was decent. My Eggs Benedict were good. Only suggestion I would have: it was quite loud (many people talking), and the restaurant room walls are 'naked' (no pictures or other decoration to absorb the noise). We are so happy Butter and Jam/Pico and Guac are in Madison. The food is always delish and the service always friendly and warm. We always say we feel like we are in California on a vacation when we eat here because the ambience is so light, bright and inviting. When the bill came they charged us for an extra jam and there was a price discrepancy between what we were charged and what was on the menu. We've eaten here over 40 times over the last couple of years. Sad to say that the food quality/taste and service have gone way down hill. This used to be our fave place for brunch. Also prices have gone way up with lots of hidden add on fees as the portion sizes have gotten smaller. Ordered eggs over easy and yolks came out hard. Ordered steak "medium" and came out burnt and with a bitter flavor like they haven't cleaned the grill in a long time. Ambiance is so-so and staff is not nearly as friendly or personable as in the past. Sad to cross this one off our list! read more
