In these days of multiple bar-bistros, Butterbee's on Beechmont stands alone not because it differentiates from the others, but because of its convenience when trying to find a bite on a Saturday evening in a very congested area. The food was typical bar fare, but was hot and tasty. Service was mediocre...our table was handled by at least three different staff. And we were visited by a manager who voiced concern but left before we would have had a chance to detail any issues (fortunately there were none worth mentioning). If you seek a really good meal hop on 275 and head for the Milford area where you'll be rewarded by a plethora of unique bistros. But, for a quick typical bar food meal, Butterbee's isn't bad, just not noteworthy. read more

Our lunch visit was a pleasant experience at this popular east side eatery. Parking was easy finding a spot right in front. The help was friendly and we were seated promptly. Menu offerings were large, mainly focused on burgers, chicken, and salads. Ordered the chicken Caesar salad. Salad appeared to be huge but wasn't quite as the bowl was shallow. Still plenty for a lunch. Butterbees is known for their tenders and that's what I got on my salad. Tasty along with crisp greens along with too many croutons. Wife also had a salad. No complaints. Butterbee's on Beechmont Avenue is great. i've been coming to the restaurant for several years. I've had many items on the menu and never been disappointed. the wait staff and greeters are so friendly and spot on for service and are so upbeat and the ambiance is comfortable. It can be a little loud at peak times and during popular game times but it is all in a spirit of fun and celebration. It's why we always suggest meeting others there for a meal. I used the online ordering for pick up and everything went smoothly. Since it was my first time it took a little longer to sign up and had to allow a little more time for pickup. But they were right on schedule. Out wasn't a peak eating time though. I highly recommend Butterbee's. read more

Ate at the Beechmont location for the first time on Friday night. The first thing to point out is that everyone on the staff was very friendly. Our waitress, Emma, was very nice and did a great job. She was very attentive without hovering. We had chips and salsa for the appetizer. They were delicious. The chips were actually salty (not too much) which doesn't seem to happen at most places. Our only complaint would be that it didn't seem like enough chips. Another big plus for Emma is she was honest with us when we asked about their margaritas. She recommended the signature margarita on the rocks so that's what I ordered. She did forget to ask if I wanted salt on the glass and it came without any. Aside from that, it was a very good margarita. For our entrees, I ordered the ribs and my wife ordered the pulled pork sliders. The ribs reminded me of the ribs they used to serve at Chilis many years ago, and that's a good thing. Very tender and full of flavor. My wife enjoyed the sliders. Her one complaint was that she felt like the buns should have been toasted because the bottom bun got a little soggy. As always the food was sensational. We ordered curbside service instead of fighting the church lunch rush and was pleased when we got home and had everything we ordered. As far as the ambiance at the restaurant, in previous visits the staff is always friendly and makes sure you have everything you need. I will be going back in the future. Giving two stars is sad because I truly enjoy the Mt. Orab location. However, this location in Beechmont really lacked decent service. First off, it's super convenient that it's right off the highway. The parking lot was full so I expected a busy meal. It was quite opposite, not many people were dining so I assume that means there's just not ample parking. For 4pm on the Monday after Christmas, we barely found one of two empty parking spots. First impression of the inside is beautiful! Love the big stone fireplace, definitely something I'd want to have in my own home. The host station is odd and not very defined. It somewhat molds into the waiting area rather than having its own podium. We were seated quickly, party of 3 including highchair. The booth we received was placed uneven. The booth was very far back from the table. I tried to put my toddler in a booster seat but couldn't because of the space between the table and seat. We had to ask 3 times for a highchair. Our server didn't really know the drink and food specials. He told us he was new(ish) so we cut him some slack. I ordered the 65 cent boneless wings. It was unfortunate that you can only order them in increments of six. My fiancé had the pigskin burger with waffle fries. I had boneless wings, buffalo sauce on the side and Saratoga chips. Our meal took for-everrr to come out. It was a wonder why we waited so long. Again, cutting the new server some slack but not sure if it was a chef/cook problem. Once we finally received our food, they forgot the side of Buffalo and extra plate for my little one. We waited... and waited... and waited. My fiancé asked someone else for more BBQ sauce for his burger. His BBQ came out before my buffalo and extra plate. It was quite a long wait. Cold food for myself and my now cranky toddler was unfortunate. Although it did taste very good. My fiancé liked his pigskin burger, loaded with bacon and cheese. We were never offered refills but we were offered dessert, which we declined. We honestly won't be back. Used to be my fave place to eat but it's gone downhill over the past few years in my opinion. Here's why: -no one ever answers the phone for take out. -the boneless wings when they first opened (or at least 8 years ago lol) were so good. I would get them at least once a week. Then they changed and made in house- and they're stringy & weird & not good at all. -switched to the chicken wrap for a bit but then they started using weird lettuce that never tastes fresh & is always soggy. -then switched to the quesadilla and they skimp on the cheese. I am shocked that people are giving this place 4 and 5 stars! I have read numerous reviews in the paper about how great this place was out east and they opened up the restaurant in the old Tony Romas/Montgomery Inn (before that). I have driven by it many times and seen a full restaurant. I don't understand why. Deals on Cincy Savers regularly sell out. I was able to procure one a few months ago so we decided to give it a try tonight. They have lots of TV's so I guess they are trying to be a sports bar, but they don't have an extensive beer list. Chicken wings/strips are supposed to be good. We didn't try those. Our waitress had no clue what the nightly drink special was tonight. Half my meal was left in the window. The place was very empty which is understandable given that it is Thanksgiving week. The waitress recommended the ribs as their specialty. I give them a C-. Go to El Coyote, Great Scott, Max & Erma's, Fridays, Smokey Bones, or Citi BBQ in the area for better ribs. The half rack was very small. The steamed broccoli was drowned in water and the Waffle Fries were too thick and could use a better seasoning. My son's southwest burger was overcooked. The check said medium-well. He was not asked how he liked it. It was 1/3 pound. He still liked it. However there are too many better burger places in the area. The Sweet Tea wasn't very sweet. They probably haven't been to the South. My wife had the buffalo chicken wrap. She said it was decent but nothing great. The price for this and the burger was similar to Friday's but for lesser quality; so next time we will go there. We had a few dollars left since they wouldn't allow the gift certificates for alcohol so we tried a chocolate lava type cake with ice-cream. It was acceptable for $5+ but nothing great. Their dessert menu was lacking. You had a choice of cheesecake, chocolate cake or a blackberry surprise. They have a reasonable amount of choices on the menu. After today I surely wouldn't try Salmon there. Service was OK at best. Would have expected a manager to walk around given the sparseness of the restaurant. Sadly to say the best part of the meal were the dinner biscuits. We won't be back! If you are trying to stay away from the chains go to Great Scott 5 minutes east on Ohio 125 or El Coyote 10 minutes the other direction off 5 mile/Left on State. read more

This past weekend we treated my brother-in-law, recently transplanted to the area, to lunch. Fella lives out on the chain-heavy East Side and likes the basics: burgers, pizza, dogs, et al. In an effort to avoid the chains, I thought of Butterbee's American Grille, largely because sports-talk guy Mo Egger broadcasts from here sometimes. For a relatively young and local broadcaster, I think Mo is insightful, entertaining, and knowledgeable about sports. (Although he has a penchant for willfully trumpeting his ignorance about food & dining both on his blog and on-air (he has issued a counter-Top 10 list to Cincinnati Magazine's; he ranked Silver Spring House his #1 area restaurant. Haha, Mo.)). Anyway, I figured Butterbee's would fit the bill for my brother-in-law, with its meat-and-taters all-American menu. The food is accurately described by the name "American Grille": wings a bunch of different ways, steaks, chops, ribs, sandwiches, giant burgers, salads with lots of meat on them, and bar apps like mozzarrella sticks and potato skins and fried pickles. In short, part meat-tastic and part pub-junk. For what it's worth, Butterbee's seems to do a pretty good job with it. Portions are massive. When I'm in Rome I tend to do as the Romans do--by which I mean I go with the pub junk at a place like this--and the buffalo chicken sandwich I got was juicy and tasty, and the Saratoga chips were good. Bro-in-law's burger looked good, as did his waffle fries; he was happy with it. My wife said thumbs-down on the nachos, though (the ingredients did look subpar). Butterbee's can't quite figure out what it wants to be, though. Sports bar? (A couple of dozen big TVs, all with sports on, hang from the walls and ceiling) Family restaurant? (The name could remind one of Applebee's, lots of families here on a Saturday afternoon, the decor is kind of rustic and woody, and the music is mainstream, modern country (that I loathe, incidentally).) Hooters wannabe? (A couple of the young-lady employees were attired in regalia suggestive of that illustrious institution.) It doesn't quite add up. FWIW, Butterbee's is out in Union Township, just into Clermont County, at the I-275/Ohio Pike interchange: This particular locale means that the crowd is about 99.99999999 percent white and the scene thoroughly Middle American. Nothing wrong with that, I reckon, if that's what you're about. All in all, not exactly my thing, but Butterbee's, despite its mild identity crisis, seems to do a good job with its modest aims. Wanted to like this place, but the experience i had here was awful. I'm not going to go into detail as it's just too much, but every angle was a fail. The manager/owner emailed me in response to my email, but never offered anything or any reason to come back. Basically defended his establishment and acted like I was in the wrong. He did actually admit that they had issues with he same server we had, I waited a month to see if they would invite me back and I have gotten nothing. Sadly, I will not be returning. read more

We have been getting to go orders during the pandemic and they are consistently good. I usually feel like portions are smaller on to-go's but they do a good job. Love the wings & waffle loaded fries - lots of sauce & cheese which makes both so good!! Last order was wrong and they offered to remake it, by then we were home which was to far to go back.
