My personal favorite was the honey butter chicken and waffles. That chicken was so well marinated and fried to perfection. I saw a news story on the wall that the owner had worked at Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles. We've been to Roscoe's and this place's chicken was much better. The skin was perfectly crisp and the honey butter sauce was only slightly sweet which added a bit of flavor but did not overwhelm you with sweetness. My kids ate up the chicken meat and I was happy to enjoy the crisp chicken skin by itself. My wife also really enjoyed the waffles and found them to be quite flavorful, again preferring them over what you would get at Roscoe's. The gravy on the loco moco was fantastic and perfectly paired with the rice. My son ordered the churro waffles and was happy with his selection. For me, though, I dream of that crisp chicken skin. My other half is allergic to lobster and we didn't find out until we had to call this place and they confirmed it over the phone because she was constantly throwing up and feeling sicker by the hour. I want to like the food but I'm also apprehensive about a place that doesn't disclose on their menus what an item may contain. Thank goodness my partner is ok now.

The whole table sits down and has to stare at their phones putting credit card info into their system to try and order a beer. I'm not there to look at my phone, I'm there to be actively engaged with my friends/family. Then they have the nerve to make 20% the default tip? The waitress did not check on us, I had to fetch my own condiments, and order my food through a website. There was not any personal service whatsoever. As far as value, beers were $8 a pop for a normal glass. A local style 12oz beer was $10! I am shocked at prices, lack of service, and yet crowded. Can we not expect better?

Place is called Beer Lab, so must comment on the beer. Got a tiny beer, Hazy IPA, which was tasty. Food: Giant Pretzel App- Good Pretzel. Good cheese. $1.50 for tiny cup of mustard was annoying. Burgers: Son and I ordered the same thing- single smash burger. He got his plain, just meat and cheese. I got everything that came on it. His was fine. Mine was not. First, bun to meat ratio was outrageously bad. Smashburgers are supposed to be thin, so you gotta use a smaller bun. Double probably would have been a better call, but in this case it would have just doubled the really unpleasant taste. The whole thing was burned. The bun was burned, the burger was burned, the caramelized onions were burned. This may just have been the burned taste, but it also tasted dirty, like it came off of a nasty grill. And, yes I ate it anyway. I dont send back food. I take pictures of it half eaten and tell random strangers on the internet how bad it tasted. Service was good, beer was good, pretzel was good. Burger was so abysmally bad that I cant ever see going back here. You can clearly see looking at the bun that its burned, and they sent it out anyway. That speaks volumes about how a restaurant is run.

I found parking after a while driving and waiting a while. 2 people in front us of in line to go in. We had to wait a little while. Not a very long wait. We went inside and we sat down. Ambiance is casual and comfortable inside here. We ordered right away. Service is friendly and fast. The food came out shortly after. It looked good. We ate and then we left right away. As other people were waiting outside. We paid and we left to go outside. There was a very long line of people waiting to go in. Plus, it was the day before Mother's Day. Or it's always busy like that. We will be back to try the Famous Oxtail Soup. Which we should've tried this first time here. We will be back another time. Support local businesses.

Ambiance, well It's your typical old school coffee shop with their traditional menu items that they've served for years, nothing special about the place except the food. No frills. Hubby ordered one of the daily specials: pot roast. It's pretty good, tender, gravy is tasty, mac salad is decent, and if it's Saturday he always gets it. Very home style. Serving size is good. I got the mini oxtail soup, no green onions. Came with plenty of cilantro, four pieces of ox tail (one large, two medium, one small), pretty good for a mini, and a few peanuts. Oxtail pieces were almost fall off the bone but not quite. Flavor of the meat and broth was delicious. They have a container of ginger shoyu sauce on the table, but I'd you want only ginger you need to ask, which they bring quickly, but don't ask if you want it so if the server is busy you need to wait. They have three sizes - mini, regular, XL. XL comes with 4 scoops rice. The others come with 2. You can order extra broth for $2, and other options such as Saimin Ixtail, but I forgot what they all were. One thing I especially like about Kapiolani's oxtail soup is the ginger is grated, not minced like some other establishments. I enjoy oxtail soup at several places but this is my go to because of taste, grated ginger, different sizes based on my preference for the day, and it's in Aiea and conveniently located for me.

Great service even on a busy day. The restaurant is clean with that great diner ambiance to it. So please make sure to come by the last Anna Millers location on earth in Aiea. I heard the Japanese locations have all closed so really this is it. Please make sure to support them so they stick around for many more years to come

Not so much anymore, especially since covid. And, they only carry certain pies daily and add more selection on the weekends. Customer service was still spot on. When I approached the pie area, I was greeted by a warm and friendly gal. I was only buying 2 slices of pie - banana cream and macadamia nut cream. I was told that the macadamia nut cream pie was only made on the weekends. Ok, I asked if I can still be it by the slice on the weekend and she told me that it is only sold whole. That was a big disappointment because that was my favorite pie there but did not want to get a whole pie. They did have the banana cream and I was able to get by the slice. I ended up getting a slice of custard pie for my 2nd choice. The gal did show me the sign by the register of what pies are available for slice for that day, which wasn't a lot. Both pies tasted ok, nothing special. The banana cream had a few slices of real banana, which was nice. The pie crust was on the thick side and tasted pretty dry. It wasn't the best banana cream pie I've had .The custard pie was meh, didn't have a real good custardy taste and the crust was the same as the banana cream. Overall, the customer service was good and I probably will go elsewhere for pies.

Whenever I pass by, there seems to be people waiting in the front, especially during dinner time. Who knew this place would be the spot to go to for dinner? From the outside, it reminds me of the restaurant Tiana from The Princess and the Frog built -which make total sense! It's the high, lofty ceilings, big, open, bright lights - they really got the plantation building vibe well. The servers have been great whether they're the quick-service bakery or the servers for our dinner. I remember one dinner, my meal took longer than everyone else at the table and they were apologetic in that and kept checking in and made sure I felt seen. As far as the food, I've tried their cutlet, breakfast pancakes/waffle, fried chicken, and a couple other dishes. Some I ordered myself and some my husband ordered, therefore they are my dishes as well. All of them tasted great and I do have to say, considering how long they've been open, you would think the standards go down at some point, but I have not experienced that at all. The breads, butters, and jellies still slap. And most of all, my husband and other family members I've come here with LOOOVE the kimchi fried rice and/or the pork loco moco. Personally, I used to only think about Liliha Bakery whenever friends from the mainland come to visit. But now, it just may be a nice spot for dinner if we want something a little more than Zippy's.
