I just stopped by this place last night with friends because we were craving for bun bo Hue. Since we entered, we were seated at the table right away. The waitress took our orders right after that and let us know they had a special deal on bun bo Hue: "buy two, get one free" on Wednesdays and Fridays for a while. What a deal!!! The broth was fragrant and delicious. The beef was juicy and tender. The other toppings were enough. The veggies were fresh and crispy. The service was fast, and the waiter was friendly. This place is very clean and well-organized. Bun Bo Hue here is delicious and tastier than Vy Da, Ghien Bun Bo, Quan Hy, etc. We will be back for other dishes. Will recommend it to anyone. read more

Drove by this place, the buy 2 BBH get a bun rieu free caught our eyes so we bust a U and turn in. The place is not big but nicely decorated. I must say both BBH and bun rieu were legit. Bonus , I love the fact that they have everything you need at your table. Straws , chopsticks , dipping plate, napkins . Yes the obvious but I don't understand why some restaurants don't do it. I drove by Bolsa and noticed this new shop, well at least new to me, and decided to give it a try. First impression is the place is very clean, with seating for about 30-40. The host/waiter was friendly and fast, although it was early in the day and there were only 4 other guests. Each table comes with the assortment of fish sauce, shrimp paste sauce, and chili oil for you to up the umami of your BBH. The BBH looked clean and the broth is clear. The accompanied veggie plate is fresh with shredded banana blossom and variety of mints and sprouts. So far, the presentation is nicely done and clean. Onto the food... well that is where I find it lacking in taste. There are hardly any robustness umami flavor of lemongrass and fish sauce. Even when I added the condiments, that still did not help. As for the brisket, it was on the chewier side than my liking. The pork hock has the right bite, but overall the meat is lacking in flavor. For the uninitated, perhaps this would be a good start, but being that this is in the center of Viet town, the bar is set pretty high... So this place, to me, at best is average. This is a small mom and pop restaurant. We came here on a Monday and it was slightly busy. One table with a lot guests and a few other tables taken. We sat down and in a few minutes the waiter came by and asked if we were ready to place an order. He was working the front end by himself at the register, taking orders, cleaning the tables, and serving. He did have someone cook though. The table had the fermented shrimp pasted which I loved! The egg rolls were crispy and for 5 egg rolls they gave you like two pieces of lettuce. The fish sauce for dipping was SPICY. The red chilis made it super spicy that I couldn't even eat it. The Bun Bo Hue was alright. It wasn't as amazing and great as other people said it. The soup didn't have much flavor so I added a lot of shrimp paste. It wasn't hot hot when it came out. Cozy spot, for weekend lunch. Limited menu that focuses on dishes they excel at, and the stars next to the dishes are chef recommended. Bun bo hue is actually pretty good. Close to the way my mom makes it, the broth was definitely enjoyable. I also had the beef stew which is also good, it does come out piping hot in a skillet, so be aware that the first slip of the broth or baguette dip will burn your tongue if you arent careful. My mom and I were craving some BBH one afternoon and saw this on the way while we were driving on Bolsa. Decided to stop by to give it a shot. Came in and was immediately seated, staff was friendly and atmosphere was chill as we were the only ones there. Staff mentioned they had a buy 2 get 1 free which we opted for. Dine in for both and the free one was for to go. Bun Bo Hue was alright, nothing stood out or "wow'd" me. Dine in had good amount of protein, however the to go version was less than appealing. We under the impression the portion would be the same as dining in. We thought wrong, portions were tiny with little to barely any meat. It was so depressing that my sibling pitied it. Broth-wise, it tasted water down and bland, I did not taste the richness or boldness of a typical bowl of BBH. A reason the broth should be bold is because the vermicelli doesn't hold on the broth or soak it up like other types of noodles. So when the broth is watered down or bland, it's like I'm slurping on noodles dipped in water with a pinch of salt. All in all, it was an ok spot. I'm a bit disappointed that for a place with the name "Bun Bo" in it, the quality fell short. My usual go to spot are Vua Bun Bo (they have beef short ribs) or Quan Vy Da. Place is worth the try but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

For a new,especially family business, I usual don't give 3 stars reviews because I want to give them a chance to succeed but this place compelled me to do so but mainly because I want them to know what's wrong so they can make the adjustments. To keep it short: The good: the broth is one of the best I've had in a long time. All the ingredients work harmoniously without one overpowering the others and the result is love at first sip for me. This is believe or not is hard to achieve. The not so goods: The price: for $16 you don't get enough noodles or meat (3 slices of beef, one piece of chả, one piece of blood pudding and one small piece of giò heo). Additional add-ons (meat, blood pudding...) will cost you $5. The noodles came out barely lukewarm for me so I had to request them to reheat (microwave). Another 10 wait. Speaking of wait time, you have to cut them some slack because this is a new family run establishment. Hopefully they will be quicker. The service was excellent. Every one was polite and I could see they were trying hard to make things flow as smoothly as possible. They have a snack station which offers beef jerky, dry squid and fish plus candied fruits. The owner told me they're from a shop across the street (Cô Ba Khô Bò). You can try some samples if other people didn't get them all. I hope they would make some changes because I want them to succeed so I can come here often. BTW, they prefer cash payments and credit card will be charged 3%. Living here in Westminster, it's surprisingly hard to find good bun bo hue. I've tried so many that are just watered down and lackluster. This was the first time I've had a good bowl of bun bo hue in the states. The picture I took was literally half-way through my meal because I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I knew I had to leave a review later. The broth is super flavorful and clean. They give ample amounts of noodle and meat with a good variety of different meats as well including pork knuckle, pig's blood, fish ball, and beef. I will say that it's not very spicy but they leave sate for you to add to your liking. The lychee lemon does taste a bit like canned lychee juice but regardless is quite good! The staff was very friendly and fast service. I had the sizzling eggs, pate, and sausage. It was very hot when brought out but that is what makes the sausage and paste (Cha) soft and easy to chew. I liked to dip the bread with the sauce within the skillet. I also had their popular Lychee Lemon juice, it was really good. My boyfriend really liked his beef stew egg skillet and bread. This would most likely be my last visit here their beef soup is okay but everything else is horrible, especially the sizzling plate that is not quite hot. What I was trying to pay for my bill. The owner insist that I need to pay with cash. When I told her I don't want to pay with cash. She pretend to enter a few thing into the screen and then told me that she made a mistake and could not cancel the order. So I'm going to have to pay with cash leaving me no choice. On top of that, I found out from one of the waitress that the owner do not pay tip back to the waitress. I often eat at "Ghien Bun Bo". Yesterday I decided to try out this one. I ordered to go. I was about to change my mind when I entered the restaurant and no customer was inside eating. I got so disappointed the Bun Bo Hue here. It has no taste/flavor, very salty. The little dessert container (2oz) was given free, it was stale and had sour taste of coconut milk, which made me running back and forth to the rest room for the whole night.
