The service was terrible and the place was dirty. , The girl that took my order was less than happy to be working and it seemed she did not want me to have a good day either. I was alarmed when I got home and noticed both my bags of chips expired November of last year. My bread was not fresh and I wonder if it too had expired. Just had Doordash deliver lasagna and Splash Cafe clam chowder in a bread bowl. The lasagna was awesome, even for what looked like pre-packaged. The clam chowder was just like the soup and bread bowl from the Pismo restaurant. The prices were outstanding. We will be ordering from them again. read more

I've been coming here since high school in the 1980's. I come every time I'm in town. After nearly a 3 hour drive, my first stop was here. Your manager George was so fricken rude I won't return to this location. I was just trying to pay for a to go order, holding my small dog in my arms and he told me to wait outside. I said "I was, I'm just giving them my credit card to run." He said "that's fine, wait outside." He can at least be nice about it but he was so rude about it. In this day an age many places are becoming very dog friendly. I realize you don't have the room for it here, but my dog wasn't loose, I was just trying to pay for an order. In and out is 3 minutes. No reason to be rude like that. Please let me know when you have new management so I can return. read more

My mom gave me this recommendation after another place I wanted to go to was closed for the day; I'm actually glad it was. They have a decent selection of sandwiches, including some Italian options that made me drool. I happened to be picking up 5 vegetarian sandwiches. Since it wasn't listed, I asked what was included on the sandwich. The vegetarian includes lettuce, tomato, onion, picked, peppercinis, Swiss cheese, avocado, mayo and mustard. they were out of avocado. The gentleman graciously added cheddar cheese in sub of the avocado. They have a few different bread choices, I ordered all with the soft roll. The sandwiches were ready in under 5 minutes, which is pretty fast for that many. Given that the sandwiches were so good, and cheaper than the other shop, and they were so friendly, I'd likely get my sandwiches from here when in town. read more

Dinner! First time in in a couple years. Grew up eating here. Worked around the corner for years. Used to eat here all the time. I don't eat here as often as I should. Venice extra cheese, extra peppers. No lettuce. Still perfect! Styrofoam cups and crushed ice...the best! I even tried a piece of pumpkin cheesecake for the heck of it. It was really good! My parents have been going here since they were in High School, so naturally they always took us here. Even after moving to the Central Coast, any time one of us would visit or drive through Bakersfield we had to stop by and get sandwiches for everyone. After moving back to Bakersfield and my family now being in Dallas, I love to tease them and let them know where I get to eat for lunch. Food has never been disappointing! Great meat, cute little shop with some speciality olives and martini onions for sale. Sandwich was good, but they put it on a large hoagie roll which is just too much bread for me. Also should note they include banana peppers on their sandwiches. I'll have to remember to ask for it without them next time. Lots of little bench seating and a very homey feel. read more

I have been a fan of Caesar's Italian Deli FOREVER. Our go-to location was the original deli on Niles in East Bakersfield. Unfortunately, that location is closed. So I drove over to SW Bakersfield and took a stroll down memory lane. The service was SUPER FAST and the employee friendly. The sandwich was tasty, but the bread wasn't as fresh as I remembered, and there was a bit too much bread. The broccoli salad was THE BOMB (as remembered). If I lived nearby, I would probably be a regular. However, it's not really worth the drive from East Bakersfield. read more

Caesars deli II the 1 on Wilson Rd is the best I used to live right down the street I would walk to Caesars & get a $20.00 platter & a pickle tongue sandwich which is still my all time favorite, the Roma is great too, I did try there Milano sandwich which was great as well, I also tried the deep pit sandwich which it wasn't that good there was no flavor in the meat and it wasn't fresh at all it was dry & old I was sad about that on that sandwich. read more

I use to love this place, not any more. About a year ago, my husband and I went there for lunch and he found a hair in his sandwich. He told the lady who works there, I believe she was the manager, she asked my husband if he would like her to throw it away. No apology or anything. we swore we would never go back. Well today I decided to go back and give them another chance. What to say I've been eating at fine establishment since I was going to Thompson junior high wow that was 1970s yeah okay you get the drift I'm an old fart now. Anyhow best of all it's still the great place that it's always been my preference a Roma extra sauce extra peppers extra cheese. White beans with an artichoke on top, and two pounds of pickled tongue to take home. It's sad that I'm not able to come by as often as I used to but it's still great to have a wonderful sandwiches I come in and out of town chomping on a wonderful sandwich on the way out. I'm giving it 4 stars even though it's more like 3.5 stars. I get it, it is a Bakersfield institution for some reason. And everyone would recommend a sandwich or two and I would always be extremely underwhelmed and thought I was missing something. Then I got the combination sandwich and it was like a lightbulb in my head went off. I'm going to be honest here. This is really the only sandwich I like here, but it is really good. Maybe everyone has just one sandwich from here that will taste good to them and that is the magic? I get mine with extra peppers. read more

Caesars never disappoints! My family has been coming here (and the other locations) and using them to cater our events for years! Good prices and amazing food! Even when we moved out of town, we would always make a stop at here on road trips to grab a couple Caesars specials for the road. This is a nice little deli! I always get the pickled tongue sandwich, its awesome. Recently I went in to just pick up some pickled tongue a la carte and a few other little deli dishes for a light lunch...marinated mushrooms, a bit of pasta salad and a few stuffed peppadew peppers that looked amazing and I thought I'd give a try. Thank god the girl working there warned me they were like $16/lb though, so I ended up just getting like 2 or 3. They were delicious though! Lightly pickled, slightly sweet, and stuffed with an herby cream cheesey filling...I loved them and will definitely get those again to go with a tongue sandwich :) The pasta salad was good, I think it was like tortellini or something? But it was a tad too vinegary...and the marinated mushrooms were a huge disappointment. I am sorta crazy about pickled mushrooms but these were just WAY too vinegary - both me and my mom agreed they're practically inedible as is...and it sucks b/c i got an entire pound of them. I drained out as much of the juice as I could and added some olive oil, salt and some water and am trying to re-marinate them to maybe suck out some of the overwhelming vinegar flavor but I don't have high hopes. I haven't really tried much else other than the tongue sandwiches and the aforementioned items...I'd like to try different sandwiches, or maybe one of their hot items? But other than those little red stuffed peppers, I'm probably gonna steer clear of most of the deli case stuff. Oh well. read more
