Cafe in SoHo! Absolutely love the interior in here -- high ceilings, the base is modern (black with wood accents, stone) and filled with a lot of plants and curated clutter; maddd vibes in here. Just came for a coffee to go, but looks super laptop friendly (saw people laptop-ing on the weekend) and good for getting work done and/or hanging out if you can grab a spot; good amount of seating but the space overall isn't crazy big. Drink-wise, from what I saw, it's mostly basic espresso drinks and tea here. Shoutout to whoever was working register when I came -- she was so incredibly sweet; she threw in a few extra cookies for me and that really was a great start to my day. read more

The drink menu is pretty varied and they have a decent selection of pastries to choose from. I was in the SoHo area in need of a caffeine boost and came across Cafe Lyria. I had heard about this place and was interested since they had Greek coffee, and usually play Hercules on their mini TV? I was sold. I didn't realize how large the space was, the area to order was kind of packed but to the right, there is a larger spot for sitting down to enjoy your beverage. I was in search of nice place to sit and relax after shopping in SOHO. I walked by Café Lyria and decided to give it a try. The ambiance inside is fantastic, modern, trendy, and perfect for a relaxed cafe vibe. The place was buzzing with people reading, working, and hanging with friends. Not sure what to order, I took the barista's recommendation and tried their house special latte. It was an excellent choice. The blend was smooth and flavorful, topped with frothy foam. Rather difficult grabbing a seat to hangout at this cafe, so if you don't have time or are in a rush to settle down I would recommend skipping this place. However, if you have time and want to take in and absorb the lovely lush vibes here, be both patient and vigilant of seating turnover. The cafe is small in the way that seats are packed rather close to each other. Good amount of people doing work on their computers. I would prefer there to be some "laptop free," sections at these kind of cafes sometimes, because it detracts other people from being able to enjoy an establishment. I ordered one of the croissants because I had already had my caffeine fix for the day. I must say, it was excellent. As someone who doesn't particularly like croissants, I was pretty pleasantly surprised. While it cost as much as a coffee, I felt that this was absolutely a worthy trade. From what I noticed, the drinks don't seem to be particularly pricey--which I was caught off guard by, especially due to the spots popularity. They could be milking their population more (think lots of snooty guests that bumped shoulders with me or gave me dirty looks more than once). If you're able to snag a seating area for your party a little in a tucked in area, that is wonderful. I wouldn't feel super comfortable unwinding in any regular seat where you're brushing elbows with the people next to you. read more

Very demure, very cutesy. Café Lyria is an aesthetic coffee shop tucked away in an alley of NoHo. Beautifully decorated with rustic interior decors, wooden paneling and plants. Their price tag is reasonable in the area, including their hypest specialty drinks like Freddo Cappuccino and Lyria Latte ($5-6). I've been curious about their viral Freddo Cappuccino. It is a Greek style coffee combining iced espresso with frothed cold milk and (optionally) a sweetener. I don't usually add sugar or sweetener to my coffee, but the espresso base is quite bitter even for me. It tastes like a dark roast black coffee with an extra thick layer of milk foam. Imo the coffee doesn't fully living up to the hype, but it's still worth checking them out for the vibe. read more

small coffee shop folded into the lobby of a NoHo building on a quiet stretch of Crosby Street. if it wasn't for tables and seats often scattered in front of Cafe Lyria, you'd likely walk by this spot and not notice it. the coffee shop offers a variety of coffee & tea centric drinks as well as a small menu of items. the interior is a chill eclectic vibe made of a variety of seating options from a large couch, tables and chairs. the calming decor is a result of plants, warm subtle tones, and the space itself feeling cozy but not cramped. there's stacks of books and games placed throughout the coffee shop and a small tv playing a variety of anime. stopped by a few times and each time ordered an Americano coffee. the coffee was flavorful without being overly bitter and had that smooth hot caffeine kick that only good coffee delivers. never managed to take a seat at Cafe Lyria mostly because i had places to be. will say it is quite busy during the day as prime seats are mostly taken up by people who are laptop-ing and working (pretending to remote work!). the crowd, here, is a mix of students, remote workers, and mid social media scenesters. while not the greatest mix of NYers...the vibe remains chill. the ladies behind the counter are friendly and laidback and seem to enjoy the life of dealing caffeine to the chronically tired people slightly north of Houston Street. worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood, but not sure i would head here if it weren't convenient to things I need to get done in NoHo. read more

It's small, it's always crowded, it's loud. The Barista girlies are sweet and efficient! Drinks are aight - basically the same as the Mulberry street location. Honestly disappointing and the vibes of the customers it attracts are not my cup of tea to say the least but they have nice interior. It is a spacious place beautifully and elegantly decorated with high ceilings, greenery, photographs, and windows allowing for people watching. The photographer is Yannis Mastoros, whose prints can be ordered and picked up at this cafe, so I'm assuming it operates also as a little gallery nestled in a cafe. While the entire space is gorgeous and airy, seating is very limited relative to how busy it is (lines go out the door sometimes). If you plan on having a work/study session here, definitely arrive early to secure a seat. I wish they took full advantage of the amount of space in the cafe to maximize the seating potential. The music is also on the louder side. Service is very friendly and the staff is cordial among each other as well as their patrons. What convinced me to go was a recommendation from my Greek friends, who are friends with the owner. I met Theo and he made me and my friend feel right at home with speedy, courteous service. I had a latte while my friend had a regular hot coffee and croissant, which he said was rather good. Both coffees were rich and we could tell from the lack of an acidic aftertaste that it was freshly brewed. The prices run rather steep relative to the portion sizes, especially for the signature beverages with additional charge for ice or milk alternatives. A small drink can easily set you back $7 or more. Overall while I don't think the coffee itself is deep or bold enough in terms of flavor to justify that price tag, the inherent beauty of the space in a prime SoHo location possibly does for those special study sessions or hang outs! I am genuinely confused about the hype with this cafe because there was a pretty long line out the door on a Saturday at 2PM. It's a really cute and vibey space, and there's pretty good seating inside and outside. A lot of people hung out on the outdoor chairs and tables. I got the Freddy, which is one of their signature drinks. I honestly thought it was just okay? I drank mine really quickly, and it was pretty watery and not well balanced. read more

This café does have a nice outdoor seating area and is very well decorated on the inside (cozy couches, coffee table books, etc). Don't be fooled by the aesthetic interior. This coffee shop was such a disappointment. They did not have toaster ovens / microwaves to heat up the baked items. I ordered an iced cappuccino and they poured a glass of iced oat milk and dumped a pre-made espresso shot in there. It tasted like oat milk with a small hint of coffee. I had no idea how long the espresso had been sitting out. Definitely not worth $6.00+. They also did not have trash cans inside so we walked outside with our trash in hand before finding a trash can on the corner of the street. Overall not worth the money. The coffee was very good, and I liked the hint of sweetness. My only issue is that it was unclear what the Lyria was, and when described next to the Fredo Cappuccino sounded better but didn't quite get into the true difference among the two. It seems to be a popular spot with folks who may either live or work in the area which is great to see. It was busy which I assume is a good thing but made it difficult to find seating - they offered games and other things like books for entertainment which I appreciated. I had never heard of this coffee shop before this past weekend. The interior is cute and you are surrounded by old TVs and other memorabilia. There are also plants hanging around this coffee shop which makes it pretty. They do have indoor seating. It is located in NOHO. They also have complimentary wifi. This place is perfect to come if you are WFH ( work from home) or want to grab a coffee with a friend. I got a coffee that had Oat milk ( you can also get Almond milk) and honey. It was tasty. The signature coffee is unique but I couldn't taste much of the flavor and would probably rather have a normal cup of cappuccino. I absolutely loved the vibes at this cafe! My friend and I stopped in on a rainy day and it was packed but there is a good amount of seating. I got the signature iced lyria latte which is espresso with greek honey and oat milk, I did sub mine with almond milk (which they have and will do!) - I highly recommend this if you're a fan of honey!! Price wise was relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of cafes in the city so that's a pro. It wasn't very strong for me and I really need my caffeine fix so that's the only reason for the 4/5 stars but other than that, I'd definitely come back and get a stronger drink! With nice couches and chairs, large grand windows overlooking the street outside, and a clean, cozy environment, Café Lyria is a homey, welcoming spot steps away from the rush of Soho shopping, Noho studio gyms and restaurants, and more. Serving espresso beans from Passenger Coffee, and all milks including Oatly, I was served quickly by a friendly barista. It's not on a huge main thoroughfare, like Broadway or Lafayette, and therefore keeps just a little bit quieter than some other well-known or more conspicuous places down the street, which, for me, was perfect. read more
