This is my go-to place for a shopping break - to relax and unwind over high-quality, delicious food while enjoying excellent service. Bisa at the cashier is very pleasant and helpful - always making sure to ask the chef about ingredients, offering a taste to help me decide what I want to order. Service is really excellent; I have never had a negative experience, and that is becoming a rare thing. Every server, busboy, the chefs, will say a polite hello, nod, or ask if they can get me something. That's one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I highly recommend the Bistro Club: sliced chicken breast, organic baby greens, crisp bacon, roma tomato, avocado, and hericot vert (perfectly blanched!) on toasted sourdough. The fries come with kalamata live aioli, which is the bomb! It tastes like dijon mustard and olives. Yummy! I can never eat more than half a sandwich, which is pricey at $8 (full sandwich is $11.75), but I don't mind paying more to get what I know will be good. I highly recommend their triple berry strawberry shortcake; will transport you to Europe. The shortcakes are not spongecake but rather more like a crumpet. I always ask for extra Devonshire, clotted, cream and extra strawberry sauce, and they are more than happy to oblige! A few tips: bring cash to leave a tip. You order and pay at the register and then you are seated. A chef brings your order, you eat, and you are served some mint chocolates (more yummies). This is when you leave a cash tip. You can include tip while paying at the register on your credit card. Just don't forget to tip - the service is great (Brandy, Joseph, and just about everyone else here)! Another tip, avoid Saturdays, when there's lots of kids (screaming, crying kids). But even then, it's pleasant. A few more things: they use organic produce, milk free from BGH, cage-free eggs, organic iced tea, and products free from hydrogenated fats and oils. My favorite salad in Atlanta comes from this low key cafe in a department store. Seriously. I crave the blue cheese, dried cherry and candied pecans on mixed greens salad with a dark cherry vinaigrette on a weekly basis. It is pretty expensive, like most of the meals, in the $12-$13 range, but I will let you in on a secret: you can order a half portion and it is half price, but it is more like 2/3 the original size! $6.75 for a seriously delicious and -to me- quite filling salad. If you want to be decadent and make the half salad in to a full meal, add a goat cheese fritter on the side for about $2. It looks like a crispy crab cake in size and texture, but it is a creamy delicious round of soft goat cheese coated with panko and fried to golden crispy perfection just to the point where the cheese starts to get warm and oozy. Seriously yum. Things to know: you order at the counter (this is the longest wait by far of the entire experience), pay there, then be seated by a hostess where a server takes over to bring you your drink, food (this takes just a few moments even though everything is made to order) and keeps your water refilled without asking. We got here around 1:30. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich and the turkey was apparently great. These were both only things I've tried here. You order at the counter and then they bring it to your table. Mine came with fries. The bread was really hard and it made the sandwich difficult to bite into. To be honest probably one the coolest hidden gems in buckhead. Food tasty and not over doing it like all the crappy chain restaurants. Cafe right inside the Nordstroms...I always thought this was a genius idea. This particular location is an order-at-the-counter kind of place, and the server brings your order and attends to drink refills at the table. I like how the cafe is casual but still maintains having wonderful food and service. Menu selections from soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees...I got the citrus turkey sandwich, which had a seriously enticing and delicious cranberry chutney spread. The highlight was the multigrain roll it came on, and the thin crispy fries with the olive mayo dip. There is something very fantastically old-school about dining in a department store. I like this place as much for the atmosphere as for the food. First, the food. I regularly order the salad with goat cheese fritter. The only thing better than goat cheese may be friend goat cheese. When I'm feeling carb-ish, I get the margherita pizza or a grilled cheese and fries (the fries? mmmmmmm). I've also dined with kids, who've gotten the kids' pizza and fruit plate. I have yet to have a bad meal here. When you dine in, they bring your drinks to you, and any time I've ordered salad I've also asked for table bread. The food comes promptly, which is great for those of us who work and need to get back to the office. Drink refills are promptly offered, including in a to-go cup as you're packing up. The service? Outstanding. I've ordered dine-in and take out, and the service is always impeccable. That's Nordstrom for you. I eat here 1-2 times a month and definitely recommend it! read more

Menu states that they don't use hydrogenated oils, have rbgh free milk and other good stuff. Sandwich and fries for $11.75, a little much but darned good, and my server kindly split the entree with my friend so we each had our own plate, half sandwich, and fries with aioli. I'm a big fan of the Cafe Bistro at Nordstrom, Phipps Plaza. While the dining area is not large, the staff are great and work very hard to get people in and out during busy lunch hours. Basically, you order at the register and then wait to be seated by a server who will take care of all of your needs. The cafe offers a nice variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches, all of which are priced right and can be order in the half variety if you aren't too hungry. What makes this place stand out is its staff. Everytime I have gone they have been so friendly and so eager to make your meal enjoyable. Stays open until 8pm , I had lunch to prep before browsing Nordstorm ( first but not last visit ) The French onion soup is a throwback to the 'Bennigan's' version , delicious. Sandwiches are probably the best I have come across in years . Place pretty full with locals from business offices . I was shopping at Phipps Plaza, and decided to eat at Nordstrom's, as opposed to tackling the food court. I ordered the mushroom and ricotta pizza, and yet again, Nordstrom Cafe Bistro did not disappoint. Between my sisters and I, we split the hummus appetizer, which was equally satisfying. The presentation of each meal, like always, was impeccable considering the cafe style setting. The restaurant was packed, the noise level was average, and the service was prompt. One thing to keep in mind, you are paying for what you get, which is good quality and tasty. I will definitely be returning when I am at Phipps for some shopping. I LOVE nordstrom cafés (so much that I have almost every single one of their cookbooks and regularly make meals from their Devine recipes) but this one is by far the worst I've been to. The tomato basil soup isn't even the right color (much more orange) which means they added too much whipping cream. The fruit and fig salad I ordered to come without goat cheese (mozzarella instead) came with both.. I can clearly see they made it with goat cheese then realized their mistake and instead of fixing it they just brushed some off and added thick hunks of mozzarella. This is not the nordstrom way. To top it off, the crostini doesn't have the garlic parm butter they are so well known for. I was really looking forward to this meal but I'd rather move my full plate and cup of soup aside and go find a Wetzel Prezel place. read more

What's going on at Nordstrom Cafe Bistro ? The server just brought a dessert to the table next to me and expected the customer to move their plates away so she can serve their dessert. She even made the 'move that' gesture to the guest. The guy apologized not moving in timely manner. And my fresh fig salad had fig jam in it instead of fresh figs or kind of fresh figs. The food and wine are excellent, but the real stars are the staff. Micael was my server. Amelia was the manager. Micael took good care of me without being intrusive. Amelia came to check on me during the meal. At the end of the meal she said she wanted to pay for my dessert for me because they had just seen the custard and it didn't set properly. They didn't want to serve something that wasn't up to their standards, although they would if I really wanted it. She suggested the white chocolate bread pudding. It was wonderful. A few times a year I would take my kids (9 and 11) to Nordstrom's Bistro at Phipps for lunch. It was a tradition to go there before we had an out of town trip planned. Two things have turned me off recently. One, they took the cheese pizza off the "kids menu". They will make it but charge 3.00 more for it. The really bad thing is that my 11 year old daughter ordered mac and cheese last month and when we got it she said "it looks like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese". We all tasted it and it tasted like it, it looked and smelled like it so I asked the waiter if it was Kraft Mac and Cheese, you know, a box is 99 cents at Publix and he said "YES". Nordstrom Bistro serves Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and even thought many kids like it, we weren't expecting it and we were very disapointed. Don't go. read more

What used to be one of my favorite, casual places to go to while shopping has been greatly disappointing the past several visits. Consistently a BAD experience. The food quality has gone down hill along with the service and lack of management. The past visit, not only were they out of the French onion soup but the fries (always a must have here) were served cold and limp and looked like they were half eaten! We sent them back and the "corrected" plate was not much better than the the first. This is the only Bistro I've had issues with, step it up Atlanta. It goes beyond soup and french fries.
