She came back to ask if everything was ok. She was friendly but not overly friendly. Salmon itself is good. Breakfast food was good. Better than at Millies. Their veggie omelette was good that's what I ordered. They have a good amount of seating. It makes it seem like you can sit indoors or outdoors even though you are inside a hotel. read more

Gayle and I arrived at St. Mary's Hospital at around 6:30 AM to drop off her Mother for hip replacement surgery. After Gayle participated in the intake process, both of us headed off on foot looking for a breakfast place. It was cold and icy, so we headed to the nearest (and safest) opportunity - Circus Circus. Actually, Circus Circus is part of "The Row", which includes easy straight line access to their sister Silver Legacy and El Dorado casinos (all owned by Caesars Entertainment). It's been years since I've walked into a Downtown Reno Casino, and although the associated section of Virginia Street is still a bit hinky, both Gayle and I were impressed with the modern and clean touches of all 3 gambling halls. We both remembered when Circus Circus seemed a little more tattered many years ago. However, the one big surprise was that (probably due to Covid), the whole complex felt deserted, with most of the morning dining choices closed. So it was almost by default (and by asking for directions) that we found Cafe Central, located with the Silver Legacy. Gayle and I had a nice meal here and since the place wasn't that busy, we hung out for awhile longer as there was no rush to get back to the Hospital. Service was friendly and prompt, and the place seemed welcoming and comfortable. With our coffee, Gayle enjoyed her eggs and sausage (with a generous portion of hash browns), while I only finished half of my 2 huge pancakes, but had no problem chowing down on my scrambled egg and sausage choice that was part of the combo. I don't order pancakes (or french toast) often and it's mostly because it's just too much food, as much as I enjoy it. The view of the casino floor was nice, but it also reminded me that unless I'm here incidentally for something else (like today or maybe a show), I wouldn't be here. This was a nice little café that was located inside our hotel. We ate here one morning for a quick breakfast. This place gets quite busy and we were in line for a while before we got seated. The service was really nice. The servers checked on us often. We both got breakfast items. My boyfriend got some pancakes And I got some French toast with eggs and sausage. Everything was delicious. I do wish they gave us a little more eggs and sausage with the meal. I recommend trying this place. But I would expect to be waiting possibly 20-30 on a busy day to get seated. The place was a decent size and the chairs were comfy. Nothing special stood out to me about the place but it is a Cafe in a hotel. I notice on a lot of the tables they didn't have a chance to refil a lot of the sugars/condiments etc. on the tables, but the waiters were happy to bring over any extras you may need. It did get a bit loud in there at times but that's because you are sitting near a main walkway of the hotel while you are eating. You are blocked off by a wall from the restaurant but you're still in an open space. read more

Came here for a quick breakfast at 8am on a Monday. Not many choices in the Silver Legacy itself, and this was the one we chose. Setting is easy to find, right off the main pathway between The Row casinos, and lots of seating. Was not busy at all, so we were quickly seated. A server took our drink orders, and then Olga our main server took our food orders. They have a typical menu, which for breakfast includes a lot of variations of meats and eggs along with hash browns and toast. They also offer an eggs benedict, waffles, French toast and pancakes as well. So, a little something for everyone. We ordered the California omelet, with tomatoes, onions, avocados and green onions, and hash browns as well. My choice of toast was the English muffin. We also ordered the Joe's special, with seasoned ground beef, mushrooms, spinach, onions and scrambled eggs. Muffin also! The food came quickly and was nicely plated. The omelet was a little denser than I expected, as if blended together then cooked, not the usual fluff and fold you expect from an omelet. The hash browns on both our orders were very crispy, almost charcoal in some places - the pics should show this. The Joe's special was tasty, moist and well-seasoned. As for the coffee and iced tea, the iced tea was almost all ice (again, I think photo shows this) and was difficult to stir in sweetener - couldn't get all the ice moving around without a tidal wave effect! And the lemon wedge had the thickest rind I have ever seen! Again, see photo (I'm pushing for you to make your own judgments today!). It was impossible to bend or squeeze, so no lemon juice for my tea. Didn't feel like asking for another slice - I'll survive! Olga was very efficient and friendly, and overall, food wise it was an okay breakfast. My wife and were looking for a place to get breakfast or brunch on Easter Sunday and really just wanted something simple and weren't exactly sure who was open and did not require a reservation. We decided to head downtown to the casinos because we figured they always have something open. We wandered through "The Row" and tried our luck at a couple of machines and noticed the small line of folks that were previously in line waiting had all been seated. We were seated right away and provided menus. I would have preferred to order something from their lunch menu but it wasn't an option prior to 11am so I decided on the breakfast burrito while my wife chose the California omelet. Our server Marie was friendly and efficient and our breakfast arrived quickly and tasted good. We were checked on regularly and when we asked for to go containers Marie was quick to bring an extra ranchera sauce to go which I appreciated. Overall it was a good experience! read more

We were at the Row for a play at the El Dorado and figured we'd treat it as a "date night" with a restaurant meal. We were trying for El Jefe' Cantina, but found out they aren't open on Tuesday or Wednesday, so stopped by the Cafe Central. It wasn't busy at all and were seated right away by a friendly hostess. Someone came to take a drink order right after we sat down and then the server got us the menus. They have a good variety to choose from with some of their breakfasts served all day. My wife got the taco plate and I got the patty melt. She had asked for all beans and it came out with beans and rice, but the server apologized and immediately brought a separate plate of beans. Both plates had more than enough food. It was served hot and tasted flavorful. The server (I think her name was Jessica) kept checking on us and was very friendly. This cute little place surprised me. We were seated immediately after 9pm on Wednesday night, and the staff was attentive and helpful. An Amaerican /Asian /Mexican blended menu, clearly something for everyone (including a 24 hour breakfast menu). ! The portions are truly large, very shareable, and all pretty good. We had a late dinner at Central Cafe on the 17th of July. Broccoli Beef and War Wonton Soup. Both dishes were okay but not great. Portions were good but flavor was lacking. What was more disappointing was the service. Our waitress Marie was technically sound, she took our order, delivered our food and gave us our bill. She even bragged about her tenure with the company which was over 30 years, that she only worked 2 to 3 days a week now and that she had never been written up. Needless to say I am surprised that she has never been written up and I am surprised at her service. We had to ask her multiple times for water refills and that for me is a no go. If my glass is empty fill it up. Seems easy to me. Another thing, if I'm finished eating and my plates are pushed away, take them away. I don't need to sit there and look at dirty dishes while I enjoy my beverage. The icing on the cake was when she dropped the bill off. We were still eating but yet she kept coming by to see if we were ready to pay. We were made to feel uncomfortable and felt harassed on how we were going to pay and when. She even went so far as to come back over and tell us she was going home and inferred we should tip her now and she said that if we were going to tip in cash and leave it on the table then don't bother leaving it at all. I have never had a server say something like that to us. Very inappropriate behavior to us and a very disappointing experience. 30 plus years working there, she still needs some coaching for success. read more

Pretty disappointed that they closed the pho place downstairs of el dorado--that was our go to soup place while in Reno. We were surprised to find out they had pho/Asian food at candle central! My family and I decided to give it a shot since we were hungry. Many of us got their pho--the pho was actually decent and good although it was on the pricey side. I believe almost $15 for a bowl. Although it did hit the spot. We also got French fries on the side--don't judge lol and they were good as well. This place gets busy, especially later in the night. I don't know what happened to this place but it has gotten worst. I've been here multiple times. Came here for lunch since my family and I didn't know where to eat and not much options due to covid. Got there around 11am and the line wasn't too long. Waited about 20 minutes or so. Once we were brought inside, the waitress brought over the menu. We didn't know that they have 2 different menus throughout the day. One for breakfast/lunch hours and one for dinner hours. We got the breakfast/lunch menus and was disappointed. She finally got to us and took our order. We ordered eggrolls, potstickers, fish and chips, chicken club, small stack of pancakes and spaghetti and meatballs. Eggrolls: came with 4 rolls. It was crispy and actually tasted pretty good. The sweet chili dipping sauce was good as well. Potstickers: came with 4 as well. It was tiny and not much filling. It was good though, the dipping sauce is too salty. Fish and chips: the fish is pretty big. A bit stale and lacking some flavors. The vinegar dipping sauce that came with the dish was accidentally spilled onto the fries. It made the fries soggy and actually tasted bad. I wasn't able to eat the fries and I love fries. I had to spit the fries out because I didn't like the taste of the vinegar. Chicken club: the sandwich was too dry. The bacon was soggy. Pancakes: overly too sweet even without the syrup. Spaghetti and meatballs: this dish was actually not too bad. Our waitress was nice but lacking a bit of attentiveness. We had to flag her down for water and check. Overall, I think the food is a bit overpriced. Portion wise is decent enough but quality of food needs to be improved. read more

Lunch: Silver Legacy [Reno] Dined here two weeks ago when we decided to take my mom to Reno on a day trip. Café Central is located in the Silver Legacy at THE ROW. It was our first time dining here. It wasn't our first choice of place to eat but there was no wait in line so we went for it and we were seated immediately. Spacing between tables were good and complied with social distancing during Covid times. Staff wore masks. We were actually seated in a booth and we were immediately tended to for our drink orders. Our waitress shortly came after to get our food orders. Mom and I decided to share a Chicken Alfredo meal. Husband ordered the Joe's Special (breakfast meal). Our food came in good time and the presentation was nice. Not the best Alfredo pasta I've tasted. The Chicken Alfredo was bland and the sauce was too runny. The two slices of garlic bread were placed on top of the sauce so half of the breads were soggy. Mom and I didn't finish it... it took the three of us to finish the plate. My hubby did not eat the hash brown that came with his meal... it was too oily. We enjoyed our glasses of Coke and refreshing lemonade, though. We had a good waitress. She was attentive and friendly. Glad this place is open 24/7 because I started getting real hungry around 8:30pm on a Sunday night.. and most places were closing or closed already. Dined in because 1. To-go orders are additional $2 extra & 2. There's no tables to sit at to eat if you were not staying at the hotels. I was debating on getting either the General's chicken or the Vietnamese crispy chicken.. the waitress suggested the crispy chicken so I went with that.. I was really impressed on how light, crispy, and tender the chicken was! Only thing I didn't like was that it was bone in. It came with 3 sauces, soy, sriracha, and fish sauce. My family made a quick decision to eat here, because my son was competing at an event nearby and needed some protein to fill up for some needed energy. The most annoying part was flagging someone to take our order and our waitress hadn't visited us after sitting there for a good 15-20 minutes. We had no idea who was supposed to take our orders and we weren't sure we were going to be able to eat before going to my son's competition. Thankfully I was able to flag someone but it also took awhile for the food to come, maybe another good 20 minutes. When the food arrived we still had no utensils to eat them! The gentleman who handed the utensils to us didn't seem like he was in a good mood so this place is a mix bag of employees: some seem to like their jobs or some absolutely hate it. The waitresses were nice and attentive once they got other tables to pay their bills. I ordered a combo meal with two eggs, sausage and pancakes. The food was all really good, cooked the way I liked and the pancakes were really good and fluffy. My son enjoyed his ham and cheese omelet and his hash browns were cooked to perfection, long enough to have that outer brown crispiness. My husband and daughter both ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns and were cooked like my sons. The cooks in the back care about the quality of their breakfast foods and do it well. Once we had to leave, we had to wave down the waitress and felt that was a smoother process. We made it out within 1 hour 15 minutes, so if you're in a rush, don't eat here. Staff was very friendly but the portion sizes are massive and so much goes to waste. We came for breakfast. I wanted pancakes. I ordered 2 thinking I would get 2 normal sized pancakes and each was roughly 8" in diameter. I ate 1 and gave my son the other one and he could only finish half. My daughter wanted a waffle so we ordered 1 waffle. The waffle was about an inch thick and only slightly smaller than the pancakes. Walked up to the host during breakfast. No smile, no greeting. I had to inform him I was looking for a table. He grabbed a menu and walked to a small table to seat me, where I would be looking directly at the single person at the table in front of me. Awkward. So I made the adjustment myself. I ordered the chilaquiles and asked for it with chicken (very common option at home or abroad). I was told by the waitress she would have to check if the chef is able to do that. I was about to offer my assistance in cutting up chicken if he was incapable of it. She returned with a plate of stale nachos with eggs on top (with no chicken). I was wondering if I had ordered nachos by mistake, but then I realized the "chef" thinks this is the same thing as chilaquiles!! Why put this dish on the menu if someone is incapable of making it correctly?!? I've seen Taco Bell cooks who can make more authentic Mexican dishes than the person who made these nachos. Cafe Central is alive and well. One of my good friends and I decided to take a quick trip to Reno for a break. Cafe Central isn't the end all be all for a good meal at the ROW but it does have a nice variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items to choose from. They are practicing social distancing rules and have spaced the tables at least 6 feet away from one another. All of the staff wear masks and one time use menus are provided. I ordered the Chicken Club this time. It comes with fries so it's very filling -- so much so that I wasn't hungry until the next day. I probably would've preferred it without the cheese but the chipotle aioli was a nice touch to marry all the fixings of the sandwich together. My friend ordered the Legacy Chow Mien and said it wasn't as oily as she thought it would be. Our meal came out to $45 including gratuity so it was a steal for a quick bite. Their menu has been abbreviated and I suspect it has to do with barely reopening but when the full menu is back in business -- I would recommend checking out their selection. read more

*Possible post-pandemic challenges with the economy and staffing issues seem to be strongly impacting this review. The Short Story: The Bad: Terrible, over-priced and over-simplified food. Avoid eating here. The Good: Super speedy room service and extremely polite staff dropping off at the room, and a very empathetic, efficient and helpful manager at the restaurant. The experience explained: We ordered room service, with a simple order of a French dip, a steak sandwich and an Asian chicken salad. The French dip meat was dried out, grey and the bread was dry. The steak was ordered rare, but came uncooked altogether. The salad was definitely the most edible item, but very simple. Downtown Reno looks to have suffered tremendously, post-pandemic. I am hopeful this review is an unflattering snapshot in time, and that I will be able to update with more complimentary observations in the future. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. It just keeps getting worse each time I visit. My husband likes coming here specifically for the Legacy Fried Rice. Today, we came in to place a to-go order & we were instructed to go to the bar to place it. As soon as we came up to the bar & simply asked a question to confirm this is where we need to place a to-go order, the waitress behind the bar gave us an ugly attitude from the beginning. She complained that the to-go person taking the orders is nowhere to be found & that she's not taking the orders all while giving the ugliest look. I understand that she wasn't the designated person, but to physically show how much she hated her job & take it out on us isn't a great representation & introduction of this restaurant. Whatever happened to proper customer service etiquette? There was no sense of grace. Please hire better people next time who are welcoming. No wonder this restaurant has low ratings. EDIT: I'm shocked that I'm having to edit my original post & ADD more to my complaint. The woman who was extremely rude to us earlier eventually ended up taking my husband's order & other people's orders after so many complaints were made. Literally 15 minutes later, my husband simply & nicely asked the same female waitress (I eventually found out her name is ANGEL with long brunette/black hair & facial piercings) to check on the status of our order. I couldn't believe my ears. She had the audacity to charge up to my husband, literally raised her voice at him saying "if you need to place an order, go over there. Don't yell at me." Not once has he yelled at you. You're yelling at him!" She then asked what my husband said & he reiterated his simple question of checking on his order. She instantly looked embarrassed. NOT ONCE DID ANGEL APOLOGIZE FOR MISCONSTRUING WHAT MY HUSBAND SAID. The gaslighting of it all. Thankfully, the manager came just in time to give us my husband's order. When I tell you Angel changed her entire demeanor, did a complete 180 & said, "y'all have a great day, thank you for coming (w the biggest smile)" in front of the manager- that's when my husband asked for her name. I had every intention to talk to the manager to make my complaint, but the manager was taking care of another customer complaint.
