We spent 6 nights in NOLA and Yelp ensured we had great meals throughout. This place was the lone exception. I selected this restaurant for breakfast before going on a tour, hoping to have a seafood crepe. When we arrived, I realized the menus pictured on yelp were old and the current selection of crepes was very limited. I went the spinach bacon egg crepe. The creamed spinach was a little overwhelming, but one I put a few sprinkles of crystals on it it was not bad. My wife went with the loaded grits bowl. It did not wow her like other meals we had in NOLA, but again it was not bad. Service was good, but not great. There was plenty of seating available. It is in an easily accessible location. If you're looking for something quick and not bad, this is your place, hence the 3 stars. read more

3.5 stars if I could... Café Conti is a little restaurant inside of the Prince Conti hotel. With four stars and over five hundred reviews I knew it had to be a quality place. The service is a little iffy, but the food is fire. The inside of the café is kind of tiny, but both times I'd gone during my trip to New Orleans there was no wait to be seated, however, when we visited the second time, the waiter was telling people, "it'll be ten minutes before I'll get to you." That I thought was extremely odd. They did seem understaffed, but it wasn't that unmanageable in my opinion. The first visit I thought the service in general was a little on the slow side, now I see why. They like throttle their service like my ATT does with my data plan. Another thing to note- soda refills (tea included) are not free. I wondered why they didn't necessarily ask me for a refill because once I saw the check I paid $6 for two drinks. My first meal I had was the Croque Madame which was out of this world. A huge piece of sourdough with ham and Swiss, bechemel and a sunny side up egg on top of it all. Side of potatoes came with it but you could do grits or fruit if you'd like. Second meal was a crepe. Have to do at least one crepe, right? I got their chocolate and strawberry crepe and it was so decadent. I shared unwillingly with my friend. It was the perfect size for the price. You'd might want to split it with someone, I didn't want to , but I did anyway. I thought the prices overall, aside from the refill thing, were reasonable. Restrooms are located in the hotel, not in the restaurant. We had to get our check from the counter when we visited because the servers did take too long. Cafe Conti was a convenient breakfast spot to grab something to go before our early Monday morning swamp tour. It's right across from the entrance to the Prince Conti Hotel that we were staying at. I wanted something that could tide me over until lunch, and the lox and bagel looked hearty. It was tasty and SUPER buttery. I was hoping it would be a little lighter, but underneath the layers of lox and cream cheese, the bagel was toasted and buttered. And guiltily, while I do love buttered toast and bagels... it was too much. I also got an iced latte - they do have an espresso machine but they don't have regular plastic cups for iced drinks. The flavor of the coffee was just what my heart needed. It wasn't too strong and had just the right amount of vanilla. The menu has tons of great crepe options for those wanting something sweet or savory, but I opted for the breakfast croissant. It had ham, tomato, gruyere cheese, and an egg all on a yummy warmed croissant. I got the side of grits, and I'm telling you these were the best grits I think I have had in my lifetime. Quick, easy, delicious. I loved this place. There was plenty of open seating when we arrived on a Saturday at about 9.30 am, but it filled up quickly after that. The two servers were quick on the service-popping coffees and trays out left and right. My crepe was perfect: light and fruity with the creme anglais. (Another crepe I had the next day was waaaay to thick, so I appreciate this even more). The side of bacon was basic bacon, but that's good enough for me. The coffee was super good, even if I did add chocolate syrup to it. I wasn't sure about paying, but they ended up bringing us the check and we walked up and paid at the iPad. Walking in, they will direct you to a 2-top or 4-top table, but there are probably only 10-12 tables so I can see how it would get full easily. Bathrooms are in the hotel across the hall. read more

Cafe Conti is a cute little out of the way breakfast spot / coffee shop just a block from Bourbon Street. Despite being in the Prince Conti hotel, this has the feel of a nice mom and pop cafe. The menu is simple and easy, and the decor in the restaurant is vintage New Orleans. I had the Croque Madame (pictured). I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. This twist on a breakfast sandwich is topped with a light béchamel (a French butter/milk sauce) and sunny egg. It was by far the best breakfast meal I had during my time in the Big Easy. I highly recommend it, but don't try to pick it up to eat it, it's definitely easier cutting it and eating it with a fork! Cafe Conti also offers an extensive menu of crepes (both sweet and savory), as well as a daily special which is worth a look. I had my eyes on Cafe Conti the first day I arrived at NOLA. It just looked like an around the corner cafe, with some always smiling and welcoming staff members. And I finally got to try out this place on the day I was leaving. When the creamed spinach was presented, I was honestly looking for something prettier than this, based on the pictures I had seen on Yelp. With that being said, at the end of the day, it was the taste that did all the talking. I was really impressed by the creamed spinach. It was loaded with cheese, just the way how I liked it to be. The stringy cheese was always mouth-watering. On top of that, the bacon was perfectly crispy. Not to mention that wonderful sunny egg. With the running yolk, there was honestly nothing else I could ask for. I absolutely loved loved loved this place. After my breakfast, I then borrowed a pen and wrote my friends postcards. If you are a guest at Hotel Prince Conti you might have ended up here for breakfast or brunch aka "Hello I would like to pay 14 dollars for an egg". I was told there is a wait, looked around and saw one available table. Was told to wait outside and they would call my name, Matt G. Waited, waited and waited and then was told to sit at the very table that was empty the whole time. I guess an invisible New Orleans ghost was seated there taking their time with coffee and crepes before I could be seated. Marie Leveau's got to eat breakfast too. Little bit slow breakfast service. Skillet potatoes didn't show up on time with our crepes, so cancelled that. Garden veg crepes were good, I like the combination peppers, kalamata olives and goat cheese. The peaches and creme crepe was just ok, much sweeter than it needs to be. Table service, but pay at the counter if you like. No bathroom, you have to go into the hotel. Could use with some nice background music, mellow jazz. The conversational aucustics are absolutely terrible. I could barely hear a word across the table. It was an endless conversation of Huh? What? Thanks to yelpers, I had my breakfast at Cafe Conti. After hearing the waitress couldn't eat a lot of the items on the menu, I turned to y'all and you did not disappoint. I snagged the last table for 1 and cozied in. I truly felt like I was in Paris ordering a crepe. The creamed spinach, gruyere, bacon and sunny side egg was as good as it looked. I don't normally like cooked spinach, but this was delicious. My only wish was that there was more sunnyside egg. The egg mixed with the spinach and created this creamy delectable sauce, drawing the saltiness from the bacon and the smooth from the crepes. I also added a side of cheesy grits (not on the menu, just ask for cheese). They broil some cheddar on top and dear god, it's just like granny made them. I was bummed to have to leave half of my food behind, because it was SO. Good. I'm considering going back for breakfast tomorrow. read more

This Cafe is across from the Prince Conti Hotel using the same driveway. The morning we left, we decided to run in here and get a little bite to eat until we stopped for food on our journey. This is a really cute little cafe! I enjoyed checking out the decor while we waited for our to-go order. It has graphic red and white printed art & what appears to be matching printed valances, and a huge cool looking framed picture on the wall above a fireplace. Don't come here if you are in a rush. The service was really slow. It took much longer to get our two crepes to-go than it should have! The girl who took our order was rather put off that we showed up. She really didn't want to be there and it was quite apparent. Not a great way for customers to be treated first thing in the morning, or ever!! We ordered a sweet crepe with Hazelnut Spread & Banana slices for my daughter and she said it was too sweet and didn't finish it. I believe it was an okay crepe since she didn't say anything else about it. I got the Spinach, Bacon and Egg Crepe and I did NOT like it at all. I think it was the creamed spinach that was kind of gooey that I didn't like. I can't really explain it very well, but maybe it wasn't fresh and it was very unappetizing. Basically, I ate the egg and bacon with a little bit of the crepe. I felt bad wasting the rest, but I just couldn't eat it! I wouldn't order what I ordered again! With the slow service to the not so great food, I will eat elsewhere. This wasn't a cheap breakfast, either! 1/18/16: update. Since reviewing all the photos it seems to me there are inconsistencies in the food. They seem to make most people happy most of the time. Let's face it, it's rather a touristy spot so the crepe you're served may not be exactly the same the next day, but you'll never know -- you're flying home :) They do know how to cook eggs! The photos of the fruit bowls were consistent w/ the beautiful fruit we rec'd on visit one. The photos of the cafe coffees, etc. all look fab -- I wish that's what I'd received. In retro, perhaps Goliath affected them even more than I first speculated. i. e. supplies, being swamped by extra patrons, & (checking photo times) it being nearly noon on the wait-list-day-two visit. Compilation, had breakfast twice. The little French cafe across the carriage way from the Prince Conti's entrance, Love the toile, the octagonal tile floor. Fast it is not. Nice, friendly staff, reasonably priced for freshly cooked food. $12 average. Hubby's French toast, per waiter, was actually sliced bread pudding. It was a daily chalkboard special, as was my Benedict, ham & Brie on baguette. The French toast had chocolate chips, pecans, cranberries. It was delish! Soft pop vocals (Elton John) played. I sent my compliments to back of house -- my eggs were perfect. The greens were superfluous but pretty. Real ham steak. This visit alone would have been a five. My rating is because of our second visit. They may have been overworked because Goliath had left many of us stranded. But they just didn't seem as anxious to please. It was packed & we had a short wait. I immediately ordered a Cappuccino & when it was delivered (too promptly, wasn't that great) in a coffee mug, no matter apologies, I was disappointed. Pictures will show there were enough cups. Everyone else got a proper cup. A Cappuccino certainly should have. No music. Hubby was told "no French Toast" although it was on the menu. So he had the special of Benedict on everything bagel. Both of us were served unripened fruit, I spit out a piece of hard, green cantaloupe. I ordered the croissant sandwich w/ omelet and Brie, having the ham held off as I felt it would be too difficult to eat that kind of thick ham on a croissant, & I asked the waitress to make sure about the ham. Ideally I would like to give 4.5 starts but as there are no option like that and I never give 5 starts lets say 4! That is still pretty good. Cafe conti was on my list for breakfast places as NOLA is not super rich in vegetarian food and they had croissants here. And that is exactly what we ordered. I tried their VEGGIE GRILLED CHEESE CROISSANT and ROASTED VEGETABLES GOATS CHEESE CREPE. Both the dishes were great! Their croissants were fresh out of the oven and were pillowy soft. The dish comes with a side of fruit which was fresh as well. The crepe was great too. It has a very balanced flavors of the vegetables to cheese and the crepe itself was perfectly thin. For toast, they have their house made brioche baguette which was phenomenal! I would definitely recommend it! The servers were very cordial too. Please look at the picture of my banana nutella crepes and let me know if its darker/burnt compared to others? My server said they could remake it but that's how it's supposed to look. It also tasted burnt, and now I wish I sent it back. The sweetness of the nutella and banana masked it though. OMG. The crepes!! What??? Nutella and Banana for me, Peaches and Cream for her. So good we kept going back and forth eating each other's breakfast. A side of bacon we shared was some of the best bacon we've had...thick and tasty. Coffee for her was life changing, and my iced tea had me running back for more (and the bathroom...damn diuretic iced tea and sweeteners). This was a great breakfast and started the day off well.
