The husband and I decided to try this restaurant because we saw their cinnamon rolls in many Yelp photos... Walked in one Saturday morning, gave them our names, and waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Not too bad. We were seated by the cash register... where to-go orders are rung up... where loud to-go customers yell across the room to talk to the waitress... and where the phone is located that rings loudly while you are eating your meal... Needless to say, along with the loudness of a packed restaurant, the phone ringing and customers picking up and paying for their food right next to me wasn't the most pleasant experience I have had. Some people don't know that people need SOME personal space while they are eating. We ordered the small cinnamon roll - they had run out - so we ordered the large one. It was pretty dense, not too moist, but sweet - hubby said, "It was just ok." I ordered the mashed potato omelette - YUMMY - and hubby ordered the Apple Honey Sausage Scramble - sausage was good, would benefit from adding a veggie like onion or pepper to cut all of the meat in it. All three salsas they offer compliment the food well. The green salsa is the hottest. Might return but would rather be seated at a booth. read more

Bumping it up to 4 stars! This was the only restaurant that was opened on Thanksgiving near me...thank goodness for this place because I would have starved to death! It was packed when I came in, but luckily I was seated within about 5 minutes. I ordered the Holiday Sandwich, which had turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on squaw bread. I got the baked beans as my side. The sandwich was delicious and was PACKED with turkey (look at the picture!!). The beans really surprised me though! I was amazed at how good it was. Yes you can't sit until the entire party is there, it's a small establishment and you don't want squatters, Get Over IT 3. Yes they do orders to go and need to answer the phone, Get Over IT They are busy because they are just that good. The Feta Scramble is one of my favorites, the house-made salsa is delicious. Haven't been here in years...and I can say it was a little gross eating breakfast with tons of fruit flys All over the walls and flying around us while trying to enjoy our breakfast. Had to ask for refills on water which was warm and the server spills water on the table because he's in such a hurry he doesn't notice. My boyfriend and I were very excited to try to this place. My boyfriend ordered Eggs Benedict - We had better. Also They messed up on the poached egg. Springdale scrambler - I enjoyed that a lot. Vanilla latte - it was okay. The reason why I rated them so low was because of the customer service. I felt very unwelcoming. The server didn't check up on us. I had to flagged her down to ask for water. On top of that, I was still eating and they were cleaning my table already. They took my napkin and utensils. I felt rushed and I felt that they wanted me to get out. Since they took my only napkin, I had to flagged them down and asked one of the server for one. The server seems reluctant to help me out. Cafe Cup is so freaking delicious! There is only one down side to this place, and it can be how busy it gets. But if that's the only down side, it should put in to perspective how yummy this place really is! All the locals love it, and before covid, this was our every weekend breakfast spot! Even now living in Costa Mesa, we would still drive there frequently. I am a huge fan of their stuffed french toast with eggs & a side of potatoes. Then I'll usually share a vanilla latte to wash it down. My bf sticks to his tried and true, the Springdale Scramble. Anything we have tried is always so good! Just a friendly tip, make sure you aren't in a hurry when you come, just in case you have to wait! And also bring cash, they are a cash only restaurant. "We don't do vegan here!" is what I was told when I tried to order the vegetarian burrito without the cheese or sour cream. If it really couldn't be made vegan for some reason like their tortillas aren't vegan or something that's completely understandable, but there was no reason I should have been spoken to like when making a simple dietary request. I would've appreciated just being told why it cant be vegan. Also, given their extensive menu it's hard to believe that NOTHING can be made vegan. But if so, there is no reason I couldn't have been informed of that respectfully. Whether you're vegan or not I don't recommend coming here merely because of the rude staff. read more

You know those places local breakfast places described in books or movies. Not too fancy but it just feels so cozy that you can sit there for hours talking. A few sandwiches/lunch items but why would you not order the amazing breakfast foods? But I'm breakfast bias. While I basically like anything with eggs, the scrambles/omelttes have tons of variety and interesting ingredient combos. Their south of the border section is also delicious, especially their black beans. Often times, even in Cali, many more American places' Mexicanish food is missing a lot flavor/aroma but The Cup hits the mark and reaches a great balance with & between traditional American breakfast items with other flavors. They rush you're order and you can tell they don't want to be taking your order. They tried charging me over $9 for three sides of eggs and a side of shredded chicken. The reason I wanted sides is because their combos have items I don't eat or want and they won't do any substitution so they keep it all. Screw this place. Came here on a Saturday morning around 11am and waited maybe 20-30 minutes. Service was quick!! There was always someone checking up on us or refilling our coffee/waters. I have tried several dishes on their menu and they have all been fantastic. However, my favorite was a special, the carnitas benedict (but the secret is you can order it any time). Staff seems decent but owners have set policies in place which conflict with hospitality like if a member of your party walks to the car to get a warm jacket and you get called to be seated at the same time, you cannot be seated.
