Had a party of 3 and when we were seated, the table was dirty. Eventually, they cleaned the dirty spot for us. We order our food perfectly fine, but our service for the rest of our time here was terrible. It seemed like my table was being purposefully ignored because the other tables around us were getting attention without even having to ask. My table had to raise our hands for service,and even when we did, we were ignored. Also, I asked for a straw for my drink when we were served water, but I never received it until 5 minutes after our food came out which had to be 15 minutes after I asked. In addition, my friend asked for ketchup when we were served our food, but she didn't receive it until 5 minutes after our food came out, but that's not the bad part. Tables that had a bigger party than us had ordered after us BUT received their food before us. They also had their wishes attended to before my party. I love this place. I know it's small. Don't let that deter some of you. I've never had such great food and service all the while it's busy. The ladies and gentlemen that work here are friendly and efficient. I can't leave out the patrons too. I usually sit at the bar top and since at the time they take only cash... I had to run to my car to get it. As I was passing the man who sat next to me we exchanged goodbyes. However, he stopped and said "don't worry I got you!" as he strolled out to his car. the staff is absolutely unprofessional and hateful towards their customers. for us to be from out of town, they started to be-little us. EVERYTHING gets charged for, even if you want a lemon for your water. the food is not the greatest either. got the most simplest stuff and walked out paying over $50.00 for breakfast for just my husband and i. that's ridiculous! they had no background information about their menu and was SO put out on the family behind us because they wanted their check split. definitely wouldn't recommend this place. sad to say we wasted our time and our money. read more

We have been to Cafe Cup several times. But, I won't go back! Today I ordered a breakfast that normally comes with only one egg. But after the waitress delivered my plate, she immediately picked it back up and took it away. She said it had "too much egg." A minute later she came back with my same plate and half the eggs had been scrapped off. When we asked what happened, she said that they had thrown away the extra. . She stated that if she had left the plate as is, they would have had to charge me extra. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and letting me enjoy the meal, she had to mess with my plate. I probably would not have eaten the extra egg but it was rude to waste the food and threaten to charge me extra. This is not the first time we have had issues with this place. Previously, we had our son come join us after we were seated ( we hadn't ordered yet). They wanted us to get up out of the booth and sign back in to wait for another booth. It's too bad, because the food is good. But the nickel and dime charges and the snobby way some of the servers deal with the customers makes for a bad experience. read more

You get in and out pretty quick (they can get busy), food is just the right amount in my opinion, cheap prices, customer service is always kind and helpful- can be inconsistent though but I get it. I have tried the mini meat burrito with chorizo (taste pretty similar to my Grandmas homemade burritos.) and just recently noticed there French toast and depending on how much you feel you can eat, you can pay $4 for it!!! Sightly average food, but TERRIBLE customer service on part of one older waitress! I was looking over the menu and Yelp and noticed they had Chilaquiles as a special. When I asked if the chilaquiles was rojos or verde, she's like you can pour verde on top of it. I'm like uh, no when they prepare it, is it a choice or just with the "red" sauce. She said then red, and said again you can pour green over it. Jesus, from that logic, if someone serves me a glass of white wine, then pours in red, I'm good too? I opt to get something instead because she doesn't understand you can prepare chilaquiles in a Verde sauce. Asked her for English muffins well-done. When the food comes out, she dumps the plates and walks away. I attempt to waive her down and call after her, yet she ignores us. Finally another server takes care of it, albeit old crabby case comes back and again dumps the muffins on the table and takes off. When time comes to pay the bill, I mistakenly pulled out my credit card to pay, to which crabby psycho then says "We're Cash-Only, there's an ATM in the back". She said it such a condescending manner that I wanted to retort " Yeah, but there's a MEAN OLD HAG upfront". Alas, I had company and wanted to not ruin our day on account of some scumbag. Cafe Cup is by far my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Huntington Beach. It has a warm local vibe, friendly service, delicious food, and it's affordable! It is cash only, which can be a bit annoying at times when I just want to swing by, but honestly it's worth the extra stop at the bank. I would probably come way too often otherwise so I guess that saves me money! As for the food, there has not been one thing I've tried that I didn't like! Make sure you try the potatoes! Came here in mid-january on a Friday morning with my mom, and we were so pleasantly surprised to find how affordable and good the food was! Service was excellent! I had a burrito and my mom had the French toast combo, and both dishes were great! I only visit CA occasionally, but we now have a new favorite to visit before my flights back home, and my mom can finally go out for a nice breakfast somewhere that isn't just a Dennys or Norms! My charming waitress described the special of the day, and I couldn't resist. It was their Tuscan Scramble. Beautifully plated with fresh basil, pesto, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, atop strangled eggs. All were lying on toasted focaccia. It must have taken a while to assemble such a beautiful creation because it was barely lukewarm, especially compared to the tasty hot taters that came with. I actually don't like my food scorching hot, so I was fine with it, but even for me it should have been warmer. Great place to have brunch. Cash only. A bit of a wait during peak times like weekend brunch and you may have to park in the 20 minute green zone parking spots or the nearby Del Taco as the parking lot was full when our group of 8 came on a Sunday morning after a hike. Nothing seemed to happen to any of the cars parked in the 20 minute green zones thankfully. Place was on the small side but we were able to split our party of 8 into two tables. Our table of 4 ended up splitting two breakfast plates which was a great idea. I was full from half of the veggie scramble with potatoes and corn tortillas. Eggs weren't overcooked and potatoes were both crispy and soft inside, the way I like them. Including tax and tip, my portion only came to $5! read more

I think they could improve on the sauce but the dish is just so good with the breakfast potatoes (extra crispy) and the different salsas they have for you on the table. YUM, MUST TRY! Pesto Bagel ($4) - 4 stars! I havent really seen anywhere with a bagel like this. Cream cheese, tomatto, basil, onion and pesto sauce. REALLY good if youre looking for something light. Stuffed French Toast ($7) - 1 star. Hm, this was a little disappointment. I've had stuffed french toast other places and Cafe Cup doesnt hit the spot. They stuff the french toast with creme cheese and its a little over whelming. Springdale scramble ($9) - 3 1/2 stars! This dish is good because it comes with ham bacon AND sausage. I really really really wanted to love this place based on friends recs, reviews and location. The huevos rancheros was rather bland, lacking kick and overall was just blah. I had high hopes for the bagel with pesto, tomato, purple onion, and it was alright but probably wouldn't get again. How does a fresh-out-of-the-oven warm cinnamon roll, drizzled with white icing sound? Weak. When it comes to sweets, pastries and candies alike, I have piously believed that the more worship of the sugar god, the more blessed your bounty. Caramel, chocolate, sugar crystals--the earthly forms of the sugar goddess herself--made any dessert better. Her melty-then-solid form we call icing in particular always flourishes in copious amounts. So when I first saw Café Cup's cinnamon roll, despite the heavenly aroma, I was unimpressed with the drizzle. Where was the tribute to sugar goddess? If it's going to rain at all, let it not be some mere sprinkle, but a pouring downfall. I took a bite. My epiphany? We all show reverence in different ways. It was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had: Better than Cinnabon by far and superior to Paul's Pantry. It was moist and soft (including the typically drier and harder outer layers). However, the true glory lies on the inside cinnamon mixture, Café cup's place of sugar-worship. The golden mixture is slightly thicker than your normal rolls with a delicious sugar-grainy texture. Any over-icing on the outside would take away from the delicious experience on the inside. They're huge and thus wonderful to split. If for any reason you only want a taste and there is no-one with which you can share, Café Cup offers a mini version for a just dollar--though I don't recommend it. Once you try it (even if you're full) you'll probably want more. Of course, I didn't give Café Cup 5 stars just for a 5 star roll. If you want something more savory than cinnamon rolls, I highly recommend the mashed potato omelet or the potato scramble with chorizo (Café Cup is fairly generous with both the chorizo and the cheese). Tip: If you order any Mexican style breakfast, be sure to try the flavorsome salsas on the table. They are on the spicy side, but worth it. If food be the music of love, eat on! read more
