Ordered the following and received the latter. Lemon Custard Tart got Key Lime Pie. Chocolate Tart and got some dense chocolate bundt cake. AND the worst part ... grabbed one of the couple chocolate chip cookies also ordered and the disappoint. The hurt. The betrayal....when you bite into something thinking it's chocolate chip and it's RAISN! RAISNNNN! Never again Such a let down! read more

It's tiny but they offer a lot of choices!! Coffees, teas, sandwiches, wraps smoothies etc. Best part? It's very clean! There are two tables outside and I think three tables (maybe four?) inside plus a small counter area that seats two people. It's attached to the professional building-- 490 Post. (doctors etc) You can access it either from the street or from within the lobby of the building. Nice people here and sweet service. The place is small and clean, if you're looking to dine in; however, it wasn't terribly busy, so we sat. There are a couple of bistro tables with chairs outside. Most people were dropping in to pick up their order. They played swing crooner tunes...perfect for the morning!! I had the Sunnies Egg Sandwich on a plain bagel. Very filling. My husband had an Eggy Sandwich on a plain bagel. He loved it. You get to select the bread for your sandwich. Nice. I ordered a latte and that took the longest. Which is the best part. Aside from that, pretty bland ._. Like a guy not putting salt on spaghetti and assuming it has that natural flavor. (You had one job! To put salt on the spaghetti! Lol) besides that, nothing short from just coffee. The breakfast sandwhich was good, but not like running through the streets shoving this random peoples throats good. Just ok. Can't imagine how anyone could give less than five stars. This small place has just five small tables, but it has THE best croissants I've ever had, and cappuccino that's equally outstanding. And the service matches them in quality. Stumbled on Encore our 2nd day in SF, and returned every day after, until our return home. Quality never flagged. read more

I was looking for a quick bite for breakfast on Labor Day and happened across this hidden gem! I ordered the veggie breakfast croissant with cream cheese and it was Heaven! I also ordered an iced coffee and the young lady behind the counter offered to add cream. No wait. No fuss. No muss. It's been a while since I go to this spot overall I find it really nice , warm, and calm for work or relaxing However I've had a really bad experience today where there was an old woman who was really loud, and unwelcoming, first she my husband's order wrong , she didn't put meat in his sandwich , I even heard other clients complaining about how she doesn't respect the sanitary conditions while making the food , she didn't use gloves with all the orders plus she was really slow , there was also a young lady with her who was so nice and smiling all the time , very spontaneous with the clients trying to make everyone comfortable , she was great but u can see that she overwhelmed since there were so many orders and the woman with her wasn't helping her out So if u wanna go this Cafe I recommend going on week days since the young lady and another woman work together , they provide great service read more

When you walk in and the counter person asks customers if they want the "regular" you know you are in a good place. The selections are tasty and well-prepared. The service is friendly, if not the speediest. In the COVID era it's great to have outside sidewalk seating. A union square gem! read more

Was visiting the city and wanted to grab a quick bite before heading to work. Ordered two bagels and a coffee for a friend and I online through Uber eats pickup. The order said it would be ready in 15 minutes and showed it was ready to pick up on the app. After waiting the appropriate time they said they needed more time which is understandable it was the morning rush. Waited another 20 minutes and came back to them saying they needed another 20 minutes to make my order?!?! I understand things can get busy, but seriously almost 50 minutes for two bagels and a coffee when several other people had placed their orders in person and even received it before me and I had already prepaid for mine. If you do end up wanting to get something from here don't even bother preordering. The lady behind the counter was pretty rude as well when asking about my order. The gentleman behind the counter was somewhat understanding but doesn't make up a 50 minute wait for 2 bagel sandwiches. read more

The woman working behind the counter making the breakfast items was very rude - you could tell she really hates working here. I heard her call out an order so I walked up to check and she very harshly said "no, I said XXXX! Pft, you just ordered!" Fantastic cakes, pastries, coffee, etc. The staff is fantastic. The food is delicious and they went above and beyond for us. My husband and I were going to split a coffee to go with the two desserts we got and they put it in two cups for us. That wasn't necessary, but thank you! We had a mocha, a coffee/chocolate cake and a chocolate/raspberry mousse. Absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to try the sandwiches. read more

They had to give me an extra paper bag to cover half of it then a plastic bag to carry it. Strange isn't it? Cafe au lait was good. Some cookies and other pies/pastries are also available. This use to be my one stop shop while in the city, but there is one staff member who looks new, she has long hair a little WUW who has RBF and is rude, touches everything with her hands. She pointed at a muffin with a pen and the pen touched it. That same pen she used to enter the order. You would think after a pandemic she would not use her hands, HSWR perhaps. Never going to this place again. You think a small business cafe would be better but no, Starbucks has better service than this. read more

Convenient coffee and food place right next to the 490 Post Street building. I'll take mini-breaks here whenever I'm next door. Although they have very limited seating, seats do pop up depending on your timing. It can get busy here, as there are usually 2-3 baristas/food preparers. The baristas are super nice. I had a noon dentist appointment, and during the cleanup we started talking about food and I asked my dentist what he recommends. He honestly recommended the cafe off the lobby - Cafe Encore. I of course had seen Cafe Encore every time I was in and out of this building, and while it always looked good, I had always assumed it to be a generic cafe. But if my dentist recommends - and he recommended the Black Forest - I was willing to try it out. He pointed out this isn't just meat on bread, but that they actually add some nice veggies and sauces. They have house sandwiches, specialty sandwiches, and look across because on the other side of the coffee board are wraps, salads, and paninis. And like most cafes a selection of baked goods, chips, drinks, and snacks. I went with the Club Encore Sammich (interestingly, that's their spelling!) on toasted sliced sourdough. Black forest ham, smoked turkey, bacon, cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce, mayo on one slice, honey mustard on the other. It was honestly a damn good deli sammich. I was impressed. So if looking for a deli sammich after a doctor's visit, I recommend this place. read more

Today I got crazy and got my coffee AND their bagel salmon = also pretty good. A little heavy on the onions...now at work with onion breath but it was good. It was my first time getting lunch during work in the city and I was nervous about not having enough time since it was Halloween. I called in for a chicken panini and picked it up within 15 minutes.
