Progresso makes a better Chicken Alfredo then Intermezzo. I went with my partner to the Cafe Intermezzo on Ashford Dunwoody in the Perimeter this evening. Given the fact that the parking lot was full and twisted taco had a line while Intermezzo had only a handful of guests seated in the restaurant this should have been a sign. I ordered the Petit Antipasto and the Chicken Linguini. The antipasto came with the meal and the Alfredo let much to be desired. The chicken was overcooked, dry, and lacked seasoning. The pasta was so over cooked you could not twirl it on your fork it fell apart. The Alfredo sauce had no flavoring what so ever not even a hint of butter, pepper it was bland as can be. Not to mention the parma they sprinkled on top of it had the texture of leather and added only to the lack of taste of the entire meal. I ordered a second glass of the house chardonnay and never received it. If I am going to wait 30 minutes for an appetizer and entree I would hope that at the very least I would be offered some fresh ground pepper especially considering the price tag. I can say for sure that this is the first and last time I will ever go to Cafe Intermezzo. I hear they just opened one at Terminal B at the airport, given the opportunity I am going to opt for Panda Express or a Nathans hotdog and save the 15 dollars for a cold beer or a good glass of wine. Went here on my wife's previous dining experience and I also heard good things about the place. Service was slow after we put our order in, probably 15 to 20 min passed until we got our breakfast order (there was only 2 other tables there and 3 servers). Breakfast panini was ok, but our French toast, I've seen all the tricks as a chef. The French toast came out, looks good, then we flipped one over, nice black color. The cook burnt it. Looked at the other ones, yup, burnt. I tried to flag a waiter and it seemed no one cared. I asked a waiter, the one with the beard and mustache, if he could be of some assistance. He looked at us like we were from Mars. I told him that our French today was burnt and he says "so what do you want me to do about it?" Nice attitude. I can see where this is going. I finally was able to get our waiters attention and told him our French toast was burnt. He didn't apologize but just said that he would bring another one out. No manager stopped and apologized, no nothing. Stay away from this place. read more

Have always enjoyed Cafe Intermezzo when it was a special little place on Peachtree Street. After last night, I'm feeling like the magic is gone, the place feels like when you go into any of hundreds of Hard Rock Cafe's .... there once was one that meant something ... and now they are just forgettable reproductions. The Cafe has, as one reviewer put it, become "flippant" ... too busy to care ... arrogantly unconcerned with service. It was hard to believe, but we sat at a bar and never were greeted or served. We then moved to our table (that did not take a very long time to get). We were met by a server who took drink orders. And then never returned. A manager walked by and we stood and said we just had to leave and he said OK. He could not have cared less. So, good for them for being so busy that they can become cavalier. Bad for us because it's not special anymore. Now it's just where the lemmings go because 1) it's open late 2) you can be as weird as you want 3) you may get served fast enough not to become angry. With that appeal, we'll look elsewhere. Atlanta's growing and restaurant nightlife evolves rapidly. One day, that manager may care. read more

The food was a bit above the average chain restaurant, but the big disappointment was the Caffee Latte. Regular coffee with cold whipped cream on top and cinnamon sprinkled on top. They call themselves a coffee place? They wouldn't know a latte if it sat on their face! I complained and the server went to the (using the word Loosely here) Batista, and he said that's the way it is made. BS! Someone needs to do more than a drive and look in the window by at Starbucks to know how to make a Latte or Cappuccino. Hint McD's doesn't know either! This place is excellent for a quick bite to eat. The coffees are amazing. The cakes are pretty good also. I feel like they could be a little more moist . I had the lobster ravioli . The sauce it came in was amazing, but like 90 percent of most lobster ravioli dishes I have had the inside taste like a lobster paste and it's just low quality . Great atmosphere . Bad service, been here a couple of times, waitress were extremely slow, never check up on the customer. I ordered a tiramisu Togo, paid for it, then the bartender came back and said its all sold out but when I ordered there were 3 pieces left. Then another time, I ordered a tiramisu cheesecake togo, I got a regular tiramisu. Extremely bad service. Went there around 1145pm and was not served until 1230ish, had to go to the bar and buy my own drinks from there because the waiter never came by the table. No water nothing. A waiter came to the table next to us first who was seated after us and never acknowledged my husband. I stopped a waiter walking by if he was the waiter for the outside and he said no but he will take care of us. Another million minutes goes by and the same waiter I stopped apologized and said he didn't realize he was our waiter. This is the same guy that said he was not the waiter for outside(lied to my face) and that ignored my husband and waited in the table next to us! So the we finally order and he forgot my entree! I asked him after eating the appetizer was coming and he said he didn't place the order. Needless to say I cancelled my lobster ravioli and we paid the check and left. The tip was extremely minimal due to the lack of service and respect and I never received my food. I'm never returning! read more

Went there on a weekday noon - the place was empty with only 1-2 patio table and 2 indoors tables occupied, which is good if you want a leisurely, relaxing meal. According to the waiter, they're busy from evening on (after dinner hours) and especially busy on Sunday afternoon after church. I ordered Chicken Waldorf sandwich (lunch special which is half sandwich, a salad, and some fruit on the side) plus a cafe bianca, both are ok but nothing spectacular. The vinaigrette dressing for my salad has an odd jam/gelatin texture even though it tastes alright. Somehow I feel the coffee has a diluted taste and its frangrance relies on the almond oil. I need to go back to try more coffees to be able to rate their beverages. My friend and I had gingerbread layered cake for dessert - tasted moist, solid and not too heavy. Overall this place is more for the ambiance, the decor (love their restroom) and the showy beverage brochure-menu. read more

The tables for two are really small and cramped and I found it a bit awkward to have to leave our table to go order dessert where they have all the cakes on display. ok, my waiter was SUPER awkward and completely MIA...but i go here after having dinner somewhere else ( i never had the actual food here) let me tell you. their cheesecakes ( i always get the tiramisu cheesecake) is to dieeee for!!! it is pretty expensive ( 8$ for a slice) but the size of the slice is pretty decent. The food was great.. when we actually got it. We got there around lunch time and there were only a handful of people eating there, so it wasn't busy. We arrived, we were seated and we waited. Another couple came was seated after us and immediately received water. After they ordered and received their appetizer we had someone come by and give us water and take our orders. Later our waitress came by (a different person than the one that gave us water and took our orders) and asked if we had been helped. We said we had and she walked away. We ordered a duck crepe and a turkey crepe. We got a duck crepe and a spinach and artichoke crepe. When we told them this was wrong, we had to explain to two different people before receiving the right menu item. We ate and then ordered desserts. The ordering system is whack. First you have to get the hostess's attention for her to come inside and explain every flavor even though there's a server standing behind the display. Then she writes a ticket for you to then give to your waitress.. if she ever comes around. Which we did after waiting.. and waiting.. She comes out with our cheesecake slices.. we ordered Caramel Toffee and Cappuccino. We got Caramel Toffee and Cookie Dough. When we tried to point this out the waitress she insisted our Cookie Dough was Cappuccino.. EVEN THOUGH IT HAD WHOLE COOKIE PIECES on top. We just ate it anyways. Had drinks with a friend after work at the midtown location, although the wine glass was not clean and had to send back and the service was so so, the cheese platter was amazing. It's situated in a courtyard giving you a more authentic European cafe experience. You have to try one of their cakes or one of the many options of hot drinks. Was just at the Cafe Intermezzo in Dunwoody, was looking to sit outside to enjoy a glass of wine. Asked the hostess, who was really nice, if I could sit outside as they were people sitting on the patio and plenty of tables available. When walking outside and when I was about to be seated when this "manager" (short with glasses and wearing a purple shirt) and said the patio is closed, when I told him that there was people sitting there m he replied by saying "these people have been sitting here before the patio was closed... ONE MORE TABLE at your patio when others were still eating would be that big of a deal?!!?!?!???? This place MUST REALLY retrain their "managers" extremely rude and never coming back read more

This is the cutest little place. Boyfriend and I came here after out anniversary dinner to grab dessert. I would have given it 5 stars but parking was very hard to find around 10pm. We had a great time, the atmosphere was perfect. The tables had tiny candles on it and the mirrors made the place look huge! The drinks menu is HUGE. We decided to split a cheesecake after seeing the portion size and he order a drink. The place is kind of expensive (our bill was around $20 for a cheesecake and one drink). It is totally worth it though! We had the Oreo one, it was truly better than any that Ive had at the Cheesecake Factor. We will be going back very soon! read more

I visited the Cafe Intermezzo today for my birthday and it was a memorable highlight of my special day. The ambiance was very pleasant and reminded me of a cafe I visited in Paris a few years ago. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the large drink menu and recommended coffee selections that would best accompany the amazing desserts. The orange carrot cake was amazing and my son really enjoyed the smores cheesecake. The manager was also very attentive and friendly and made me feel very special. I will definitely visit this cafe again, and the only thing that would have made the visit better was economical parking nearby, but after all it is Atlanta; you can't have everything. read more

After waiting almost 40 minutes on Father's Day for a table, we were surprised to find the restaurant essentially empty. It quickly became clear to us that they were severely short-staffed. The table was dirty and needed to be cleaned, so we waited another 5 minutes standing by the table awaiting cleaning. The waitress was okay, but clearly stretched thin and not very attentive. The plates they served appetizers on were dirty, requiring exchange. The meal I ordered was neither worth the wait nor the price. We stood waiting at the dessert table (what this restaurant is famous for) for 5 minutes hoping to be attended. Finally, I was able to flag down someone who reiterated that they were short-staffed and that she worked in the bar, but would try her best to help. We ordered our desserts and waited at least another 15 minutes just for them to bring it, promptingy 7 year old to innocently ask, "are they baking it, Mommy? I thought they were just going to slice it." Me too, my dear...me too. To add insult to injury, I ordered seltzer water from the tap--not perrier or pelligrino--just fizzy water from the faucet. We were charged nearly 2 dollars for this and our waitress failed to inform us that we would be charged for this water and any refills. We ended up paying quite a lot for this "water". When I expressed surprise, the waitress just looked blank-faced. No attempt to try tp make up for this overall horrible experience. Normally, I would have asked to speak to management about my overall experience, but I was so frustrated that I could not wait to get out of there. We got our dessert to go. I was so embarrassed that I brought my husband there for Father's day. He's a very easy-going guy who *never* complains, but I could tell he was annoyed as he was even the one who suggested that we get our desserts to go. There were other families we overhead complaining about the experience, especially the wait. The establishment should be ashamed. They dampened our Father's Day and not inexpensively so. I have been to Cafe Intermezzo before and had no problems. I will not be back to this location...it was a terrible experience. UPDATE: I called the restaurant later on that day to speak to a manager just because I felt that somebody in charge had to know about my experience. The managers were very apologetic. They explained that there were some staffing issues that day including several people who were unable to come to work that morning. They were very accommodating in their response and promised to make my next dining experience a better one. As I mentioned, I have never had any problems with this establishment before. I will chalk this one up to just a bad day an unfortunate twist of events. I will definitely give them another chance. Because of their response to my complaint and the fact that the food itself was good, I am adding back 2 stars. Hopefully next time will be better. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. First of all, it took my fiancé and I 15 minutes to get water. Our server was very impatient and rude. We ordered one coffee and one soda- which took another 15 minutes (literally) to come to the table. The music on the patio was so loud I couldn't even hear my date across the table... When our food came out after another 35 minutes my fiancés burger was literally cold- not room temp but cold. When we sent it back to get cooked up it took another 15 minutes to come back out. By then he was not hungry anymore and ended up not eating the soggy burger. The bun this time was wet and nasty. When we asked our server how the dessert ordering process worked she was very quick and rushed. We finally ordered dessert to go and she brought the check. Meanwhile we got to the hostess complain about management from our table. Very very very upsetting. We will not be returning. read more

The only thing good about our meal was the iced coffee, ice water, and the atmosphere. 2 stars because of the server and manager, otherwise it would have been 1. The multiple attempts to make a black-ish coffee through a French press failed ending up what looked like a light colored tea. The sunny side up eggs were undercooked. The special rosemary potatoes were microwave-like rubbery with little flavor. The special jams that was supposed to arrive with the croissant never arrived (and only the bottom half of the croissant was given with the "southern breakfast"). The only thing southern about that plate was where the food will end up in a few hours. The server and manger were very nice in asking about my experience, which they solicited my comments (probably based on how much food went uneaten) and took them seriously. This was appreciated, however good quality in the 1st place should have been there, especially for the menus prices to eat here. read more
