This is a perfect after hours place, say after a night at the Punchline or after dinner. When you get to the cake display, you salivate even more than Pavlov's dog. The mysterious woman behind the counter even seduced me by saying some of the cakes were sent over nite from Italy. I really like this place for the ambiance and for being a great late night option opposed to going to a bar or lounge. But, I have to admit, I don't know if the prices of the cakes are justified after sampling at least 10 of their cakes. I guess I'm paying for the fed ex shipping from the Kroger/Jewel Osco of Italy. J/K, that's a bit harsh. I even prefer the Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes over Intermezzo's cheesecakes. I think so far, the berry tart was my favorite from here. But, I don't think any of the cakes were amazingly amazing. I miss the environment more so than the cakes. read more

I would give the desserts here 5 stars alone but seeing as i finally tried the cuisine menu i had to give it four stars. Its a little too pricey for the quality of entrees they have. I had the bruschetta. While it looked gorgeous it was super over salted which caused me to keep guzzling down my water that the waiter had to refill! My boyfriend got the croissant with scrambled eggs which he said it was just okay! I have a love/hate relationship with Cafe Intermezzo. I love the idea of it...European ambience, intimate setting, detailed menu, etc. Sadly, what Cafe Intermezzo possesses in ambience is a starck contrast to the quality of their food and drinks. I constantly have eaten subpar food here. From their crepes to their chicken salad sandwich, I am never really that happy with my meal. I surprisingly keep coming back for some reason. I think I still have hope that one day the image in my head of how great Cafe Intermezzo could be is eventually fulfilled. It's been years since I last set foot inside this Cafe Intermezzo, but it was nice coming back and trying them out. A group of us from work decided to come here for... technically cake, but we ended up ordering regular food as well. I ordered the spinach cheese dip that could come with crackers or bread, so I only got bread. My other friends ordered a half Caesar salad and a Chicken Panini with kettle chips. The food didn't take long to come out but we were in no hurry either. I only drank water because their drink menu was bananas long... I'll study it next time I go. My other friends ordered a Salted Caramel Granita (with alcohol) which wasn't bad, but I don't like coffee and found it bitter and my friend also got a surprise at the bottom of her glass... all the salt was there... Guess one should stir the drink up before reaching the bottom... My other friend ordered a hot chocolate Glasgow... which she gets all the time. I didn't try hers as I do not drink hot chocolate during the summer. The food was pretty good. The spinach cheese dip was rich creamy and had good seasoning. I'm glad the server brought me extra bread as I only smeared small amounts onto the bread and had a lot of dip left. I heard no complaints about the small Caesar salad or Panini so it's safe to say they were enjoyed as well. Now on to the sweets. I ordered the seven layer chocolate cake that was suppose to have a thin layer of raspberry on the top layer... but it was definitely lacking in any raspberry flavor what so ever. Also I'm not sure how their cakes are prepared such as baked and frozen or baked and refrigerated but my cake tasted watered down. And to take in to account how long it was sitting in the case, it just could've been so much better but it just came off as thin and flat tasting. So one friend ordered Mint Chocolate chip cake and her cake tasted better than mine, so perhaps it was fresher, and it was definitely super minty... and another friend ordered their Oreo Cheesecake which tasted good but I can't eat a lot of cheesecake but I wouldn't mind sharing a piece of that with someone. They do need to make sure Oreos are spread more evenly throughout the cheesecake as she had a huge chunk that was just plain, but other than that... it was the better selection out of each of our desserts. Service was fine and the hostesses are helpful when picking out cake from the case if you don't know what you want. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying a different dessert though. But even here, the waiter did not seem to have very good manners and would repeatedly bulge in the middle of our conversation. My girlfriend and I had yet another splendid meal at Intermezzo the other night. We've yet to have anything, but a great experience at the Perimeter location and it's been our longtime standby since we often like to eat on the later side and other places close by 9 or 10 PM. We ordered the Chicken Duxelles crepe, baked Brie appetizer, and I had the Parisian turkey on a croissant. It was all fantastic as always. Their good is incredibly consistent and we've tried most of the menu. The service has always been impeccable as well. They're timely and friendly. We know several waiters by name and they remember us. The atmosphere is cozy, but elegant. There is plentiful indoor seating and then there is a large covered patio and an uncovered area with a fountain. I've yet to find a bad table. For drinkers, they have an extensive beverage menu - lots of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. There aren't a lot of wine options, but everything else is plentiful. The drink menu is like 45 pages long. The desert selection is also ridiculous. There is a full case of torts and pies and another full case of various cheesecakes. You can't go wrong. I would recommend this place over and over. It's especially great for couples and even as a first date option. read more

I never had a bad experience at cafe intermezzo until today. I went for brunch and ordered a cafe Mozart and an American breakfast. This place is known for their extensive drink menu so I have higher expectations for the drinks than the food. Food is pretty average. I was disappointed by the cafe Mozart. I have had this coffee before and it is usually nice and sweet because of the chocolate chip shavings and whipped cream. Today the coffee was bitter to the point where it was fighting the sweet taste and ended up giving off a sour taste. When the waitress asked how the coffee was I said it was sour and I had it pushed to the side because I couldn't drink it. All she said was I can bring sugar, which she did a couple minutes later. The sugar did not do anything and I honestly wanted to send the coffee back but the cafe for busy so I refrained. It was a complete waste of $5.20. My significant other could not drink his coffee either. It took a while for our food to come out even though the place was not that busy when we came in, but we did feel like the waitress we had was much slower than the other waitress that was serving more tables. Overall today was not a good experience. I think I will stay away from coffees from here & if I come back only order teas and cakes. read more

I have been here several times throughout the years and always had good food and drinks. The wide selection of cheesecake and coffee makes this a great spot to go after dinner. However, what always bothered me was the slow service. I have been there at different times and most of the times we had to wait over 15 minutes for the cheesecake. The last time I was there, it took the server over 30 minutes to bring our drinks. But all the servers we had were very polite and nice. It is located in the shopping plaza with other restaurants and shops so depending on the time you might need to drive around a couple of times to look for a spot. We had to actually walk up To our server who was chatting away on numerous occasions with the other staff. I figured they have great desserts but this will be our last time coming to this location. The staff (2 different people) who were tending to our dessert order was not knowledgeable and were not giving us the correct information. I always come back for more. It's the perfect date spot especially if you have an all female outing. First you need to know that every time I come here the service is pretty slow which for most folks means bad. But at least this night our waiter was the nicest slow waiter we've ever had. He made some mistakes but he fessed up and apologized. Usually i get indifference. You would think this would keep me away but let me tell you why I continue to come back. The food is awesome. We shared the duck crepe that had goat cheese and figs. So delicious though the figs where too sweet for my girl friend, I ate them up (yay more for me). I normally get the chicken gnochi and you should too, it's the perfect blend of cheese and chicken in a savory sauce. I always come to nibble on plate that I share and then we each get a dessert. Tonight we tried the Tiramasu and although they tried to push 2 slices on us (cutting it in half is hard boo hoo) I told them to give us a single serving, we won't need it cut in half and we can just use 2 forks. It was more than enough since we where almost full anyway. FYI it's about 2.5 square inches, you decide if you need 2 for 2 people. We got the coffee drinks that have liquor in them but decaf since it was 12am. Another perk of this Cafe is that if you work late and need a place open late, this place is there till 1am to serve you. Another tip: Eclipse De Luna is right across in the same shopping center. I always start there with a cheap drink and maybe a tapas. They have soups, salads, appetizers (fruits, cheese, etc), sandwiches, and meals, as well as brunch. Drinks includes, coffees, teas, and liquors. Food prices range $8-$15. You can spend $75-$100 easily if you order drinks, food, and desserts. The ambiance is very quaint, upscale, and classy. You can take a date there or hang out with friends. I love to have my "girl dates" with my besties when we need to catch up. My favorite dessert there is the Oreo cheesecake. (I like the cheesecakes here better than this at the cheesecake factory!) However, I find when I go late, there usually run out of it, probably because it's a top seller. (I always tell my sever they need to make extra Oreo cheesecakes for those late night arrival, like myself ) It's located in a shopping center across from Perimeter Mall, so there's plenty of free parking. I went here with some friends for a late night Friday night dessert and coffee run. I was expecting to wait 30 minutes or more but we were seated within 10 minutes of arrival. Our server greeted us promptly and made sure we had both the dessert and drink menus. The four of us ended up getting food vs dessert. I must say that the baked brie was amazing!! The appetizer consisted of baked brie, honey, garlic pepper, parsley and the perfect amount of brown sugar with water crackers on the side. It was the perfect late night snack. Our friends ordered the French toast with strawberries and powdered sugar. My date had the chai latte, and although I am not a fan of chai, it tasted pretty darn good. Cafe Intermezzo serves their tea in a press, which is quite a unique feature & standard here. Our server - as busy as he was - always made sure that we were taken care of. Cafe Intermezzo is probably my favorite sit-down dessert place, especially when I have friends in town. The Buckhead location may be slightly better but a pain to get to and park, so I decided to go to the Perimeter Mall location on this trip. Ambiance: I will list this first since this really stands out compared to other dessert places. It is always busy here. The set-up is really cool - you feel like you are in Europe. There are cool wall hangings, sculptures and busts of half-nude women. They even have french lessons over the loud speaker in the bathroom! There are multiple rooms within the restaurant adorned with nice archways, glass-frosted doors and fountains. Food: This is the biggest draw...that is, if you love cake! There are two huge display cases, each holding over 20 cakes....I would say they must have nearly 40-50 cakes/pies to order. One case tends to be heavy on all different kinds of cheesecake (NY style, mocha, Kahlua, pumpkin, etc.); the other case is a mix of fruit-filled cakes (including a famous European imported fruit tart), chocolate mouse cakes and other layer cakes. You really can't beat the selection. Granted when you have this many cakes, some are going to better than others..it all depends on your palate, but I love trying a different slice each time. A little pricey at about $8 a slice, but you are paying for the ambiance. I usually get a few slices (depending on the # of people I am with) and share. They also have a lunch/dinner menu with sandwiches and pasta dishes among other items. Drinks: An amazing drink menu. There is a full bar. There are dozens of coffee drinks to pick from: with drip vs. espresso, with every imaginable flavor addition, cold or hot, whipped cream or not, etc. etc. There is also a very long tea list, hot chocolates, alcoholic coffees. Staff are friendly. There are employees that stand in front of the cake case and know every detail of every cake. Really impressive. I've been here a few times in the past but since I made my way here twice in one week I think a review is warranted at this point. I came on a Friday evening for dessert and after dinner cocktails. We got a slice of red velvet as well as some sort of mocha cake. They have a nice variety of cakes, pies, and cheesecakes that change daily. We also ordered an the Beethoven, espresso martini, along with a hazel martini. Everything was absolutely delicious! The espresso martini was definitely a nice pick me up after pigging out. I also found myself back here on a Saturday for brunch. I honestly had no idea they did brunch but I honestly don't know why I was surprised. I ordered a peach Bellini, mimosa, and the American omelette. The omelette was good however the potatoes were slightly over cooked and the peach Bellini was a bit too sweet for me. The food definitely took a lot longer than expected but our server who was also the bartender told us they kept messing up the order since I wanted my omelette without cheese. She was great though. There is no doubt that was the last time I was in intermezzo at Dunwoody. I went there with my best friend after a long time to have a good evening. We ordered water no ice and lemon. The young black lady after 15 mins brought 2 glass of water full of ice and no lemon. When she came back to get orders I asked her if you would first change the waters. She grabbed the glasses to change them, after a second she turned around a slammed the glasses on the table and in the rude manner said she would ask someone else to take care of us. We asked for the manager and explained the situation but seemed the manager doesn't care. The manager was not professional neither the server. And at almost $9 for a single (not very big) slice, I was expecting to at least think it was great, if not excellent. It was even a little melty, which was weird because it really wasn't hot out when we went, we sat inside, and the cheesecake was in a cooler before. The ambiance is very nice. A quick bite for lunch allows me to make the most of a short break from the tasks at hand. Cafe Intermezzo is the first cafe of it's kind I had ever been to. It's dark, cozy, and romantic. This location was the first one I went to - the very first time I visited Georgia during winter of 2004 - and it's my personal favorite as it holds sentimental value. Anyway, there isn't much to add to the other reviews posted here. Yes, their service isn't always good and they serve you super duper overpriced drinks, desserts, and food. But it's a great place to chill late at night when everything else (besides bars and clubs) is closed. They're open 'til 1 am Sunday through Thursday and 2 am on Friday and Saturday. And I love that they have a FREE parking lot (I hate the paid parking thing at their Buckhead/Brookwood location). I haven't tried their food, but my favorite drink - which I always order - is the Cafe Johannes. It's basically a tall glass of coffee topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Pretty pricey at $6.65, but I love it. Again, sentimental value. =) Their mango sorbet is also delicious! It's served in an actual mango skin/shell with some whipped cream on the side. A friend of mine introduced me to it and I love it! What I don't love is the price - $7.25. Ouch. My sister, Yoomee H., decided to be adventurous and tried their Coppa Cafe Gelato (also $7.25). I had a bite of it and thought it was good! Although it's expensive, you're allowed to keep the cute little glass that it comes in, which is pretty neat. Overall, this Cafe Intermezzo gets 4 stars - minus 1 because it is so expensive and their service is usually suuuuper slow! Luckily, Half Off Depot has been offering "$5 for $10 worth of food/drinks" deals, so I've been buying them every now and then. read more

This place gets crazy busy on the weekends so expect to wait for a table. The last time I went here was this past Monday with my husband. We came there around 9ish and it was busy, but not as busy as I've seen it the past few times I went there. The past few times I went were on the weekends though. We got the exotic bomba and a banana nutella crepe. The exotic bomba is OMG so good! It's a mixture of mango, passion fruit and raspberry sorbets encased in white chocolate. I could eat that stuff everyday! The crepe was just as delicious! It was just as good as crepes that I had in Paris. I had the biscotti martini and that too was super yummy! Probably my most favorite Cafe Intermezzo location. The water fountains, the patio, and atmosphere all collectively make for a nice date outing. Of course, if it's nice outside, pick the patio over inside. It's just all very relaxed. As many have mentioned, their drink menu is extensive and includes a table of contents. Most of the non-specialty drinks will be toward the front at least, typical house sweet tea, simple coffee, or sodas. The drink menu is impressive though. Really the most notable thing about Cafe Intermezzo besides drinks is it makes a nice place to meet up with people and just enjoy the time. Otherwise, I wouldn't leap backwards for anything on their food menu. Most of what I've had was sufficient and tasted good. Consistency is well done. Their coffee is very good as well. For a matter of fact, back onto drinks, their drinks are so nice! Our last visit, we had the: Mediterranean Wrap: Pretty standard gyro. Mostly veg, and very tasty. The pita was soft and the hummus had a nice flavor. Side of chips were nice too. Avocado & Almond Salad: I opted for the vinaigrette to the side, which I was glad. It's a salty citrus-y sort of dressing which I wasn't much a fan of. The salad itself came with a bit of bread and lots of avocado, however nothing special. I may start assigning any visits here just to relax and get a cup of tea. Cute little spot tucked away. I went at 4pm on a Friday. The service and business was slow. The waitress was kind but clearly a little bored and forgot about her table a few times, even though I was at the only table in her section. The dessert tour was really good and the "dessert bartender" was very knowledgeable about all of the sin in their sweets. I choose the strawberry cake made with strawberry icing and yes I had a side of vanilla ice cream that was just a tad bit over frozen. It was still so delicious! This spot is perfect for an intimate date. But not if you are trying to "hide." The tables are all exposed. You can see everyone. Ladies don't worry about ordering too much food, the tables are very small which will help you avoid having big eyes. Plus the portions are small.
