Do not eat here! This is a club pretending to have a restaurant. The only service you will receive is when an unsuspecting server happens to get caught in your vicinity and is unlucky enough to get stuck taking your order. But good luck getting a return visit from a server any time soon. As a diner you are at best an afterthought, at worst a nuisance. I'm certain we could have walked out without paying and hardly a soul would have stirred. They wouldn't have cared. They didn't care if we were fed, or not. We were a party of 5 for brunch. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 15-20 minutes. I ordered 2 eggs with potatoes. The meal was delicious I especially enjoyed the potatoes. My daughter ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, and we split both dishes. However, we were not a huge fan of the pancakes as you could barely taste any lemon or ricotta. The space feels small and overcrowded. Not relaxing at all. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast, but just know ahead of time what you will encounter. read more

This is my favorite new place for weekday brunch. It's very crowded late in the week, particularly in the evening, so I usually avoid the rush. The eggs Benedict is the best I've had within memory. They blend spinach into the hollandaise and, instead of Canadian bacon, use a generous portion of shredded short rib. Fantastic. It's also served with perfectly roasted and seasoned fingerling potatoes and an absolutely fresh side of greens. I've eaten here four times and only once ordered something different, the fried chicken sandwich that was also quite good. The service is friendly and efficient, even when busy, which is nearly always. Only once did I need to wait a while for my check. The food arrived each time within a short period. The only negative is the regular coffee which is surprisingly weak for such a nice cafe. I substitute cappuccino now, and that works. read more

I absolutely fell in love with the aesthetic of this place. The design is very cute from the tablescape to the bar. We were seated immediately and the server was amazing to offer recommendations. All food and drinks came out very quickly. We throughout enjoyed our matcha and hot chocolate. The breakfast burritos were to die for. I loved how it came with a small salad which most places don't do. The salsa was a little more lemony for my taste but other than that it was great. read more

Hmmm... I had a popup bagel with smoked salmon which was lovely and my husband had eggs with sourdough toast and potatoes and bacon. The potatoes were crispy and the eggs were done nicely but were cold. The bacon was thick slab and crispy but still tough and not edible. The waitstaff was very nice and switched the bacon for avocado. The coffee was $4.00 a cup and no refills. We spent $12.00 for coffee for 3 cups. My bill was $46.52 . Not sure exact amount now. They don't give change. I never heard of rounding up to the dollar in their favor. Nothing to do with Pennies. read more

I gave this place one too many tries. Came at night - received mid service and left. So I started resorting to sending my boyfriend to grab a coffee for me from the window on weekends. One plus is that their coffees are pretty affordable compared to other places in the neighborhood.. Went today around 3:45 - and honestly didn't go with expectations since most cafes close early. greeted the lady at the window and was ignored. It has been a minute since I have seen my best girls. Unfortunately one has been busy being a new-ish mom dog so it was just the three of us instead of four. This place does not take reservations btw and the line is off the wazoo. My friends tell me it was initially in the LES and their UES spot just opened. We went here for weekend brunch so our options were limited. I got the breakfast bowl, which was avocadoes, a poach egg, edamame, sour dough bread and one slice of proscuitto. It wasn't extraordinary and from a menu standpoint, but our server was amazing so giving an extra star for her. I wish I didn't forget her name. Would I go back? Service was not upto power. The food was not bad for brunch. We were seated near the trash and one of the servers pulled the stack out the bottle hit the leg and no apologies were offered. Nothing whatsoever and even the order was not interpreted the right way. read more

However, this most recent both mine and 2 other people I was with for brunch... the poach egg was not runny. As egg is supposed to be the star of eggs Benedict and the breakfast bowl it was extremely disappointing and a big let down. Our food came out extremely quickly which I was grateful for but at the cost of having a not perfect poached egg was a big let down. We went to the new upper east side location and understandably there was a long line but it moved pretty quickly. Service was a bit slow (we sat for a while before given menus and then had to wait another while before we could order). The food was decent, we enjoyed the pancakes but felt the burger and burrito were just ok. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. My friend had to reorder her drink because it was the most repulsive cocktail drink. We were also sat RIGHT in the sun with no airflow. They have short rib on an eggs Benedict - makes NO SENSE- it smelled like dog. The waitress was standing on my friends chair to open the windows while my friend was waiting to sit back down- there was no "I'm sorry" or "excuse me". They're lovely and smiley but it's like being at your senile aunt's house for lunch. They move slowly, they forget things, they get orders wrong...BUT they're nice and mostly from Ireland so you won't be mad, you'll just never get through the meal without pulling your hair out. The food is yummy, the place is adorable BUT it's always chaotic and loud. Rob absolutely changed my life in my experience yesterday at Café mod. The line went extremely fast and all of the employees at this establishment were very kind and generous. The food was incredible and I love my leftovers that I am currently eating the next day. My coffee was great, I loved my lemon ricotta pancakes a lot. Will probably be the new trendy UES place pulling crowds from Penrose as evidenced by people waiting in a queue along 2nd Ave. I was able to get a seat at the bar. Hostess was friendly and accommodating but the bartenders were not. Sat there for about 10 mins before they even looked at me. Then gave me only the happy hour menu. 10 mins later asked me what I wanted. I had the happy hour pizza which was fresh and tasty. The vibe was energetic and it was super crowded and noisy. I ordered the steak frites, club soda, and a coconut matcha. The steak and fries were good. I started to eat when the steak arrived using a standard knife. The steak was soft enough so that I hadn't noticed any problems but then about halfway through, someone brought me a steak knife. That was when I realized the first mistake. The second mistake was that when I finished my meal, I had yet to receive the coconut matcha. At that point though, I no longer wanted it. After dinner, I thought I would go upstairs and that it would be easy having just eaten dinner. No. I was required to wait on line for more than 20 minutes. This is the most poorly run restaurant I've ever been to. It's 100% relying on its social media buzz. Hopefully they get real management in place at some point. The avocado toast was good and my friend enjoyed her lemon pancakes but I also ordered a side of their "smashed breakfast potatoes" and was given baked whole fingerlings (not smashed) with no seasoning other than salt. We wanted coffee after our expensive lunch but we were told that the table was needed in 15 minutes. We then waited longer than those 15 minutes waiting for the check. The staff was pleasant and obviously busy so we were patient but I'm not sure if I'll be back - perhaps when it's not so busy. read more
