It's possible that the bar and barista staff could be friendly to you but you'd have to potentially visit dozens of times in order for that to happen. I was seated for brunch at the bar and the young Irish bartender completely ignored me (and not for the first time). Failed to say hi, offer an expression of anything that is not complete indifference, took my simple order and then after a couple of minutes asked for it again, once he completed a chat with a Bro customer his own age at the bar (enjoy your late-August concert in Atlantic City), he disappeared altogether. He never asked if I wanted a drink, how my meal was or if I wanted anything else (I would have liked some basics like coffee, salt and pepper, hot sauce and more water), and wasn't around when I needed the check. Food- breakfast burrito was fine but too heavy for me. I feel like there were a lot of carbs between the doughy wrap and the potatoes (which were the tastiest item on the plate). I think I'd prefer sliced avocado in my burrito instead of a guacamole / salsa like interior because the burrito arrived at room temperature. Shoutout to the back of house staff- you provided me with a menu, served my food, kindly asked how my meal was (as I was done with it) and refilled my water (after it had sat empty for 30 minutes). Ambiance- miserable between the front of house staff ignoring me but also chatting with their favorite customers that come in (bartender and barista looking at you), the Bro next to me taking a video call for half an hour, the children who were climbing/running/shouting above any conversational din (brunch time so I guess fair). I guess your options are enclosed patio seating = decent chance of having an attentive server, table seating indoors = family domain, bar seating = stuck with bartender who plays favorites and should not have a people facing job if he can't be bothered with it. We were a party of 5 for brunch. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 15-20 minutes. I ordered 2 eggs with potatoes. The meal was delicious I especially enjoyed the potatoes. My daughter ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, and we split both dishes. However, we were not a huge fan of the pancakes as you could barely taste any lemon or ricotta. The space feels small and overcrowded. Not relaxing at all. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast, but just know ahead of time what you will encounter. read more

I like cafe maud. The food and drinks are fun, the environment is a vibe, and the ac works. I just wish the service was better. I normally sit at the bar, because it's just me and it's always such a pain to get service. I've been a few times, so I know it's not just an off night. This last time I felt like Oliver Twist when trying to get a second drink and it still took over 20 mins after I ordered it for it to arrive. Normally I would excuse it as a busy bar, but it wasn't. The bartenders were too busy catching up with the wait staff changing shift and then getting to work on their iced coffees. We asked to be seated on the balcony for drinks, and after being handed a menu, no one came to take our order or even bring us water for about 20 minutes. This is my favorite new place for weekday brunch. It's very crowded late in the week, particularly in the evening, so I usually avoid the rush. The eggs Benedict is the best I've had within memory. They blend spinach into the hollandaise and, instead of Canadian bacon, use a generous portion of shredded short rib. Fantastic. It's also served with perfectly roasted and seasoned fingerling potatoes and an absolutely fresh side of greens. I've eaten here four times and only once ordered something different, the fried chicken sandwich that was also quite good. The service is friendly and efficient, even when busy, which is nearly always. Only once did I need to wait a while for my check. The food arrived each time within a short period. The only negative is the regular coffee which is surprisingly weak for such a nice cafe. I substitute cappuccino now, and that works. read more

It has been a minute since I have seen my best girls. Unfortunately one has been busy being a new-ish mom dog so it was just the three of us instead of four. This place does not take reservations btw and the line is off the wazoo. My friends tell me it was initially in the LES and their UES spot just opened. We went here for weekend brunch so our options were limited. I got the breakfast bowl, which was avocadoes, a poach egg, edamame, sour dough bread and one slice of proscuitto. It wasn't extraordinary and from a menu standpoint, but our server was amazing so giving an extra star for her. I wish I didn't forget her name. Would I go back? Hmmm... I had a popup bagel with smoked salmon which was lovely and my husband had eggs with sourdough toast and potatoes and bacon. The potatoes were crispy and the eggs were done nicely but were cold. The bacon was thick slab and crispy but still tough and not edible. The waitstaff was very nice and switched the bacon for avocado. The coffee was $4.00 a cup and no refills. We spent $12.00 for coffee for 3 cups. My bill was $46.52 . Not sure exact amount now. However, this most recent both mine and 2 other people I was with for brunch... the poach egg was not runny. As egg is supposed to be the star of eggs Benedict and the breakfast bowl it was extremely disappointing and a big let down. May I start off by saying I would like to give Astonishing recognition to Adam one of the Manager's at Cafe Maud. He's Absolutely Amazing! He is very welcoming with his Mannerism, Superb, such a Gem with true Professionalism. He's a jack of all trades as noticed, not only upon arrival but throughout the entire restaurant taking care of what needs to be done. "Cafe Maud is beyond Blessed to have You!" As far as the food it's delicious, minus the fries (too burnt and no taste we couldn't eat them), good service, ambiance alluring, clean and live. My first experience here with my Son since 5 Mile Stone closed, I truly do Miss them. Especially their Friendly, Accommodating Hostess', They never forgot about You upon returning. The steak was soft enough so that I hadn't noticed any problems but then about halfway through, someone brought me a steak knife. That was when I realized the first mistake. The second mistake was that when I finished my meal, I had yet to receive the coconut matcha. At that point though, I no longer wanted it. After dinner, I thought I would go upstairs and that it would be easy having just eaten dinner. No. I was required to wait on line for more than 20 minutes.
